S03 Ep053 - The white flower first makes it’s appearance with the Fool, then again on Death’s flag, and many other places around the deck. While it has been attributed to several possible meanings, including the Rosa Mystica, Waite says simply, it is a symbol of new life. And in the 6 of Cups, it’s meaning really holds the meaning of the card itself. This is a card of life and death. Literally. Listen now, and hear the secrets thi...
S03 Ep052 - When you look back at the things that didn't go right, the things that didn't end well, or all of the things you have retired from your life at this point, either by choice or force, do you feel sad, or excited? Do you mourn the loss or celebrate and take nurture from the life force they once held? We can't hold everything. Not all at once. Some things have to go and in this week's episode, I'm ...
S03 Ep051 - When you work to manifest something, by the time you have brought it into physical form it is the most stable and solid that it can possibly be and is the least likely to crumble. By the time you have brought a manifestation- something you have wished for, believed in and worked for to this stage- the physical form, it is in it’s most secure form. This is where the idea of strong foundations comes from. Your dreams and ...
S03 Ep050 - This conversation is inspired by the 9 of Pentacles- what do you think, bitter spinster or sovereign priestess? Lonely, or just alone? In this State of the Decan report we are going to really navigate all that this card, and her allies, have to offer us. Continuing our exploration of the tarot has us saddling up to a couple of fine ladies this week in the tarot and I cannot WAIT to partner with them, and hope that you w...
S03 Ep049 - You probably think of the 8 of pentacles as kind of boring, just this guy sitting out here doing day-to-day tedious tasks. Churning out the work, no excitement, just making this one thing over and over and over… But what if I told you this card actually brings the MOST exciting energy and opportunities for creativity, and the time and focus to give it form? What we focus on grows, and The Hermit is here with his lantern...
S03 Ep048 - What if I told you there was a hidden influence on every minor arcana card that made it easier to learn their meanings? That there is something easily understandable that will help uncover or unlock the meaning of a card for us? It’s the secret sauce that explains why moving from one minor card in a suit to the next doesn’t always feel like a “small step”—sometimes it’s a jolt, a pivot, a test. Other times, it’s a seaml...
S03 Ep047 - This week's episode delves into all things in the Suit of Airy Swords! With the turn of the zodiac wheel, we are thrust from the comforting, stable and earthy vibes of Virgo and the Suit of Pentacles into the rushes of energy and activity that arrive on the winds of Libra season! This is the time of ALL NEW THINGS. We are now in the season of Autumn, our direction and element has shifted from the fiery south to the...
S03 Ep046 - Last week I made this statement: "Tarot is a tool of the sacred feminine". And that caused a rub. Which caused me to reflect on what it is I am teaching about tarot. This card is about so much more than just the pinnacle of material wealth, property or inheritances. The 10 of pentacles is about legacy, and what we leave behind to the generations that come after us. It's about creating a legacy that you b...
S03 Ep045 -The Tarot cards themselves are a gift and an expression of the Sacred Feminine- yet for years we’ve been studying and learning them in a completely masculine way! What if the cards themselves created a pattern that is a predictable cycle you could work with? One that not only tells you “what to expect each week” but does so in a higher way than just answering the questions you pose. It does so by showing you the universa...
S02 Ep044 - The magician is aaaaaallllll about making magic. I mean it's in the name right? Now why is he related to this time of year? I have said many times, there are cycles to everything in nature, including us, because of course, we are nature. In nature, we have times of contraction and times of expansion. We see this is our natural world in our earth based nature rhythms too. So that brings us to where we are right now...
S02 Ep043 - Winter truly is a time of pulling inward. It's a period of contraction. Winter is where we create the space for the amazing seeds we are soon going to plant. This is our period of DEEP REST. I find Capricorn season to represent the true stillness, contraction, and deep rest that winter brings. And knowing these things can help us plan out our time, our projects, and allow us to give ourselves permission to rest. R...
S02 Ep042 - Winter is supposed to be about rest but Sagittarius and it’s ruling planet Jupiter are all about luck and expansion- so how do we best thrive in this season? Join me in this week’s episode to learn how to take advantage of this very auspicious energy right now, including our Sagittarius new moon falling on the 12/12 portal, at which time we also entered the 3rd decan of Sagg, a day before Mercury Retrograde begins- whew...
S02 Ep041 - We’re now in the window of the true Samhain portal. Tune in to this week’s episode and pickup the ritual I left out of last week’s episode (oops!), as well as why you might want to do these rituals again (or for the first time), this week! But hurry- the portal won’t be open long. I also share a few announcements for the podcast for the coming month!
Announcements, a Blooper and the True Samhain Portal
S02 Ep040 - Halloween and rituals go hand in hand. Although we have turned Halloween into a night of spooky fun, complete with costumes and candy for children, it is really a special night to honor those who are no longer with us, and based on the much older pagan sabbat of Samhain. It's a great time to communicate with those who have passed over, or any of our spirit guides, as the veil is much thinner not only during Scorpio...
S02 Ep039 - Death, rebirth and letting go, these are the themes that let us know that Scorpio season has arrived! This is the time of year that we are prime to look into the deepest darkest corners and excavate the things that are no longer serving us. The things that are holding us back. Things that have long outlived their usefulness. Some of these things go all the way back to our childhood, and some are just outdated and outw...
S02 Ep038 - The Shadow Self, what is it and where does it come from? How is it formed, and how do we heal it? Why do we have it in the first place? These are all questions that come up when we begin discussing the shadow. No discussion about the shadow is complete without a dive into mythology, as all things related to the shadow are naturally related to the Underworld, which is the domain of Pluto (who in the Tarot, rules the Dea...
Ep 037- Want to know what's in the cards? Look no further than the stars! What if I could share with you a cool way to use a 3-card-reading, every 10 days, that you don't even have to draw yourself, that could accurately forecast your next 10 days? What if we could do that for all of the 10 days of the rest of your life? And you don't have to be an astrologer to do it either! This technique also works retroactively-...
S02 Ep036 - The decans and their forecasts, are determined by their astrological associations- so while we may look at the imagery in this card and think it would be a terrible predictor of our week, it's astrology tells a different story. The association for the Three of Swords is Saturn in Libra, and that's the association we need to keep in mind, when we are considering the energy that we are going to be experiencing d...
S02 Ep035 - The Sun has moved into the sign of Libra and we have reached the Autumnal Equinox- the moment in time when the balance of light and darkness briefly become equal. In the Justice card, we often consider things to be “balanced”, when the scales are equal, right? When neither side is tipping farther than the other. Then we are said to be in balance. That might work out on paper, or for a static image on a card, but in rea...
S02 Ep034 - The Empress represents all that is fruitful. She represents abundance. These are definitely themes of the fall harvest season. The Empress, being ruled by Venus, is an emanation of the divine feminine… as is all that we have gestated in our lives this past season. Whether it be the crops in the ground, or the projects we have worked on over the summer, the process of creation and gestation is divinely feminine and falls...

The Burden is a documentary series that takes listeners into the hidden places where justice is done (and undone). It dives deep into the lives of heroes and villains. And it focuses a spotlight on those who triumph even when the odds are against them. Season 5 - The Burden: Death & Deceit in Alliance On April Fools Day 1999, 26-year-old Yvonne Layne was found murdered in her Alliance, Ohio home. David Thorne, her ex-boyfriend and father of one of her children, was instantly a suspect. Another young man admitted to the murder, and David breathed a sigh of relief, until the confessed murderer fingered David; “He paid me to do it.” David was sentenced to life without parole. Two decades later, Pulitzer winner and podcast host, Maggie Freleng (Bone Valley Season 3: Graves County, Wrongful Conviction, Suave) launched a “live” investigation into David's conviction alongside Jason Baldwin (himself wrongfully convicted as a member of the West Memphis Three). Maggie had come to believe that the entire investigation of David was botched by the tiny local police department, or worse, covered up the real killer. Was Maggie correct? Was David’s claim of innocence credible? In Death and Deceit in Alliance, Maggie recounts the case that launched her career, and ultimately, “broke” her.” The results will shock the listener and reduce Maggie to tears and self-doubt. This is not your typical wrongful conviction story. In fact, it turns the genre on its head. It asks the question: What if our champions are foolish? Season 4 - The Burden: Get the Money and Run “Trying to murder my father, this was the thing that put me on the path.” That’s Joe Loya and that path was bank robbery. Bank, bank, bank, bank, bank. In season 4 of The Burden: Get the Money and Run, we hear from Joe who was once the most prolific bank robber in Southern California, and beyond. He used disguises, body doubles, proxies. He leaped over counters, grabbed the money and ran. Even as the FBI was closing in. It was a showdown between a daring bank robber, and a patient FBI agent. Joe was no ordinary bank robber. He was bright, articulate, charismatic, and driven by a dark rage that he summoned up at will. In seven episodes, Joe tells all: the what, the how… and the why. Including why he tried to murder his father. Season 3 - The Burden: Avenger Miriam Lewin is one of Argentina’s leading journalists today. At 19 years old, she was kidnapped off the streets of Buenos Aires for her political activism and thrown into a concentration camp. Thousands of her fellow inmates were executed, tossed alive from a cargo plane into the ocean. Miriam, along with a handful of others, will survive the camp. Then as a journalist, she will wage a decades long campaign to bring her tormentors to justice. Avenger is about one woman’s triumphant battle against unbelievable odds to survive torture, claim justice for the crimes done against her and others like her, and change the future of her country. Season 2 - The Burden: Empire on Blood Empire on Blood is set in the Bronx, NY, in the early 90s, when two young drug dealers ruled an intersection known as “The Corner on Blood.” The boss, Calvin Buari, lived large. He and a protege swore they would build an empire on blood. Then the relationship frayed and the protege accused Calvin of a double homicide which he claimed he didn’t do. But did he? Award-winning journalist Steve Fishman spent seven years to answer that question. This is the story of one man’s last chance to overturn his life sentence. He may prevail, but someone’s gotta pay. The Burden: Empire on Blood is the director’s cut of the true crime classic which reached #1 on the charts when it was first released half a dozen years ago. Season 1 - The Burden In the 1990s, Detective Louis N. Scarcella was legendary. In a city overrun by violent crime, he cracked the toughest cases and put away the worst criminals. “The Hulk” was his nickname. Then the story changed. Scarcella ran into a group of convicted murderers who all say they are innocent. They turned themselves into jailhouse-lawyers and in prison founded a lway firm. When they realized Scarcella helped put many of them away, they set their sights on taking him down. And with the help of a NY Times reporter they have a chance. For years, Scarcella insisted he did nothing wrong. But that’s all he’d say. Until we tracked Scarcella to a sauna in a Russian bathhouse, where he started to talk..and talk and talk. “The guilty have gone free,” he whispered. And then agreed to take us into the belly of the beast. Welcome to The Burden.
