Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hello, Yes, Trace Atkins, there's no mistaking you, buddy when
your voice shows. It is wonderful to have a moment
to talk with you again. You doing good, it's been
a while.

Speaker 2 (00:13):
Yeah, I'm doing great, are you?

Speaker 1 (00:15):
I'm doing I'm doing super So every time I you know,
I get word that someone like Trace Atkins is going
to be on the line, you know, I get excited
because I want to catch up with you, and there's
so many things to talk about. Everybody knows about the
tour and we're going to get to that, but I
want to ask what is going on at your house?
Because you know, you're the guy I've loved having dinner

(00:36):
with over the years, and you always catch us up
on your family.

Speaker 2 (00:40):
So what is going on? Oh? Well six grandkids now,
so it's hectic all the time. Five daughters that keep
me on my toes, and just everything else going on
around here, you know, trying to keep this place looking decent.
You know, every chance I get, I'm on the track

(01:02):
or doing something. So yeah, I stay really busy.

Speaker 1 (01:06):
Do you feel like you'll never get your house done?
Like you start out in life thinking well, I'm going
to get this place in ship shape. I'm going to
put new carpeting. I'm going to do this that, and
the next you realize twenty years later you're never going
to be done.

Speaker 2 (01:21):
Yeah. Yeah, that's how it is. And you know what,
I'm cool with that. Man. I just need I need
something to do all the time, so keeps me out
of trouble.

Speaker 1 (01:31):
So I hear that in twenty twenty five, you're planning
to go out on the road with Blake Shelton on
a Friends and Heroes tour.

Speaker 2 (01:39):
Is that right? Yeah, yeah, that's what he told me.

Speaker 1 (01:44):
The two of you are just goofballs together. I mean,
he's goofy all the time. But I look forward to
the two of you playing off each other.

Speaker 2 (01:53):
We have a good time. You know. Anytime Blake and
I are together is you know, we're trying to make
each other laugh. That's just that's all we do. And
it's it's just a lot of fun. You know. He's
I guess he's about my favorite person in this business
to hang around with.

Speaker 1 (02:11):
Now, you should be pretty busy at home because you
just got married.

Speaker 2 (02:15):
From what I hear a few years ago.

Speaker 1 (02:19):
Yeah, well, I mean you know you're you're still a newlywed,
aren't you. Why did I think it was just last year.
I don't know, maybe got my fact screwed up, but
I'm sure though, Okay, okay, well then it has been

(02:40):
so well that's five years now then, right, yeah, uh,
things are going well. No, one's great, great, that's good.
That's good. So now let's talk about the music. What
is going on with this current tour that we're going
to see you on.

Speaker 2 (02:59):
Well, we're you know, of course, we do have a
relatively new album out called The Way I Want to Go,
and it's got twenty five songs on it, so, you know,
we spend a lot of time in the studio doing that.
But we're not gonna wear people out with a bunch
of new stuff that they're not familiar with. I mean,

(03:21):
we'll do a great hit show and though a few
new things in there, but not a whole lot.

Speaker 1 (03:28):
So on the new album, The Way I Want to Go,
the twenty five songs you were talking about, there's some
people we recognize on there. Luke Bryan's on there.

Speaker 2 (03:37):
Right, Yeah, yeah, Luke Bryan's on there. Lake Shelton Lake's
on there, Snoop Dogg, pit Bull, Melissa Ethridge. I'm probably missing.

Speaker 1 (03:51):
Somebody TeV Wonder I think is on there.

Speaker 2 (03:53):
Stevie Wonder played harmonica on one track. Yeah right, cat
Moo is on there, yep. More.

Speaker 1 (04:00):
And I know Toby Keith used to be a big
fan of Cabmo. He really respected him.

Speaker 2 (04:05):
I do too, man, kid great, So U what is it.

Speaker 1 (04:09):
Like, you know, recording with a Snoop dog?

Speaker 2 (04:11):
I mean he's a character, yeah, well he uh, you know,
he brings it man. I mean it's like you don't
have to you know, Snoop such a pro you don't
have to coach him in any way. I mean he
brings it. You know, he writes the stuff, and I
mean he we seen the song and then he showed
up with just he had already written the verse and

(04:34):
it was I mean, it was perfect. So I was
really impressed with just just the way he worked. You know,
it was very professional. Just he had it together. Man.

Speaker 1 (04:46):
Are any of these artists ever intimidated by just your
your presence and your voice? Do you do you get
that vibe once in a while you got to I don't.

Speaker 2 (04:55):
Know, man, I hope not, you know, I hope. I
don't want to make people uncomfortable, but you know, I
use it when I need.

Speaker 1 (05:03):
To, right, Oh, I know you do. If I were
one of your kids, if I were one of your daughters,
I would be petrified to do you wrong. You know
what I'm saying, because way, well, they're not. What about
the grandchildren? They don't laugh at you too, do they?
They got to be not too much.

Speaker 2 (05:22):
No, that they're still young enough. I think I'm still
got them intimidays a little bit. All right.

Speaker 1 (05:28):
Well, listen, we're looking forward to seeing you here at
Capitol one Hall October third. I have no idea of
your schedule for twenty twenty five with that other goofball,
Blake Shelton, but I'm hoping that you're going to come
back on that tour too.

Speaker 2 (05:43):
Yeah. Maybe so. I haven't even looked at the cities
that we're going to. I haven't gotten that far yet, right,
I only worry about where I got to be tomorrow.

Speaker 1 (05:52):
To be honest with you, Well, that's all you've really
got to think about these days. Just enjoy life, live
in the moment. And it sounds like you are there.

Speaker 2 (06:00):
You go, man, that's what I'm doing.

Speaker 1 (06:01):
Are you doing any voice work these days? I know
you were doing a lot there for a while.

Speaker 2 (06:07):
I'm still doing the Firestone thing and a few of
the things here and there, but yeah, I'm still doing Firestone.

Speaker 1 (06:15):
Can you just say something about Michael J. I just
need I need something in your voice. You know that
I can use like you say Firestone. I just you know,
they try to copy you, but they'll never be another
Trace Atkins.
