Speaker 1 (00:00):
All right, So we are here with Emily Broadman after
the Carry Blue Devils claimed the district championship here at
Bowling Green with the forty four to thirty six victory
over Gibsonburg. And just your thoughts about this achievement. Tough
game against Gibsonburg. We know they're a good team, but
you pulled it off and got the.
Speaker 2 (00:19):
Yeah, so all of us basically had left on the court,
had four fouls and we are just trying to do
our best not to get another one because we needed
everyone and all everyone's effort out there, and we I
don't know, like I never expected this to us to
go this far, but we worked so hard this week
and I know we can even go farther.
Speaker 1 (00:39):
Well, that's the thing is, you know, tournament time really
seems to reward the teams that have improved over the
course of the of the season. And certainly you know,
you're just a far better team now than from week one,
Week two, week three. What is your assessment for is
how this team has improved over the course of the
season to be able to play at this level and
(00:59):
to beat a Gibsonburg tea.
Speaker 2 (01:01):
So I would say at the beginning of the year.
We were very soft. I won't lie. We were very soft,
and our coaches realized that, and they put in a
ton of drills aut practice that we would hammer each
other like we're not friends at practice were we go
against each other, but after we're teammates and we we
hammer each other, and we just we work so hard
(01:23):
at practice and we work so well as a team.
We've really come together as one kind of like last
year the team last year we just had a good connection.
I feel like this team this year is really starting
to gain that as we move along.
Speaker 1 (01:35):
That's what it's about, right And yeah, like you noticed
some of your teammates from last year who graduated, they're
here and they're supporting you and celebrating with everybody else
with this a great victory, taking this district championship for
the first time. It's twenty fourteen for those programs so
well done. So that means that you move on to
the regional round for the first time and taking on
(01:58):
Patrick Henry, an unfamiliar opponent but quite a reputation strong team.
How do you get ready for a tournament game like
that when you really don't have direct experience against Patrick Henry?
Speaker 2 (02:12):
So we just we just do the same thing. I practice,
we go through all we do hard stuff, and then
we once it gets closer, we kind of start doing
stuff that they do and that are people that dress.
They have really pushed us at practice. I will say
they beat us most of the time. So they just
(02:32):
clearly tells them what to do. What the other team does,
they go on the court, they do it. We try
our best to keep up with them. Do the defense.
What we're gonna do when we come out to play
on Thursday, and that's just what we do a practice.
Speaker 1 (02:43):
I guess absolutely well, it's going to be a tremendous
environment and bluffing. I know lots of people are looking
forward to it. The fans came out for this one,
and I'm assured that they'll be out yeah for that
one as well. So Emily, congratulations, great job, thank you, Yeah,
thank you, and we'll see y'all Thursday.
