Speaker 1 (00:00):
When is Week twelve of our high school football season
and we're right back. It's Singapore for our regional quarterfinal
between the INN ten champion and Mohawk Warriors and the
visiting Macomb Panthers of the Plantard Valley Conference. Alongside Scott Cameron,
I'm Kurk Richards, so glad to have you on this
Friday night for at Matthews Honacurra Game of the Week.
(00:21):
I'll maatic ninety five to nine. Jim Stevenson has the
night off. Well. We are definitely pumped up for some
playoff football and the IN ten is well represented. After
four conference teams celebrated opening round victories last week, Carry
got to come from behind victory at Defiance to Nora
being the Rams twenty one to seventeen. Colonel Crawford also
had to rally to eke out a one point victory
(00:44):
over the Seminoles of Woodfield Monroe Central thirty seven thirty six.
Sineka East, on the other hand, cruise to victory over
the rough Riders at Collins Western Reserve fifty six to twenty.
And of course here at Mohawk, the Warriors routed the
Ederton Bulldogs forty nine to fourteen for a game we
had for you on Magic ninety five nine. So Scott
with Bohawk again hosting a playoff game. The Warriors looking
(01:06):
to take on McComb and they want to go as
deep as they can in these playoffs.
Speaker 2 (01:11):
Right, And you know, honestly, anything you're getting beyond week ten,
that's a bonus. Obviously we talk about that a lot,
but just to get two home game playoff games in
a row is such a huge benefit. I mean just
travel comfortability, just everything down to your daily routines. What
a benefit to Mohawk Warriors. And I have a feeling
(01:33):
that they're gonna be ready to come out and play tonight.
I think they're pretty fired up going down there and
talking with the coaches before the game. They are laser
focused for tonight's game.
Speaker 1 (01:42):
Yeah, and that's what it really takes. They know that
at this level, it's not automatic. You got to go
out there and get that job done. And hey, McComb,
we know MacComb was not necessarily favored to make it
here to tonight's regional quarterfinal. Last week, McComb, as the
twelve seed, had to go with their road to face
the five seed Eden and the McComb Panthers pulled off
(02:03):
the upset with a twenty eight to fourteen win versus
the Bombers of the Buckeye Border Conference. So thus here
we are two teams with a spot in the regional
semifinals on the line to take on either the eight
seed Lima Central Catholic or the one seed Columbus Grove.
Both the LCC Thunderbirds and the GC Bulldogs are members
(02:25):
of the north West Conference.
Speaker 2 (02:27):
Yeah, and you know, we were talking about conference teams
and where they're staying right now. You know, a lot
of teams in the MOEC that made their playoffs, they
didn't fare so well, obviously Shelby and Ontario. But you
look here in the end ten I mean all but
one in Upper Sandusky they.
Speaker 1 (02:44):
Had to go.
Speaker 2 (02:45):
They had to go to play Perkins. I mean, come on,
that's but you know, we called that week ten game
where they played well enough to get in Aaron win
and get in the playoffs.
Speaker 1 (02:53):
And man, it's awesome, and it's great for them.
Speaker 2 (02:55):
Yes, they may have taken a thumping, but they got
the chance and they play in You know, there's gonna
be players that play at the next level from Perkins
and kids can always tell like, hey, I played against
that guy or I remember that, you know, so cool first,
but besides that, you know N ten has done fantastic
in the first week, right, I mean even Colonel Crawford
had a little Johnny on the spot luck. Right, So
(03:16):
the winning squeaking out at one point late Macomb here
they're kind of trying to slay Eliath two weeks in
a row. And so you know, we you and I
were talking about this coming up here, Macomb twelve seed.
You know, you talk about the NCAA tournaments and things
and how those brackets, bracketology and the twelve five. Everyone
(03:37):
talks about, Oh that twelve five, that's where it's a
prime example for a playoff and people, you know, or
an upset and people say, oh, it's too many teams in.
Speaker 1 (03:45):
High school football players, Well guess what twelve b to five.
So you know that upset happened. And here we have
Macomb and we have.
Speaker 2 (03:54):
Mohawk and quite frankly, Kirk, these two teams played each
other in a scrimmage earlier in the year.
Speaker 1 (04:00):
Yeah, remember Kane was talking about that. I don't have
some really details on how that all played out. Were
some of the things you found out about that.
Speaker 2 (04:07):
Well talking actually both coaches mentioned that, and they mentioned
that it was a very tight game, you know, as
very vanilla as most scrimmages are.
Speaker 1 (04:17):
You know, it's very vanilla.
Speaker 2 (04:19):
So there's not so much takeaway, but it was one
of those deals where both teams were playing vanilla and
it was still close. Also, Macoone mentioned that they didn't
quite have all their players playing, and he was mentioning
also the Mohawk coach that you know, there's some players
that weren't playing for them. So we're right here is
(04:41):
this could be a tight game, as we're seeing a
pretty even matchup that could.
Speaker 1 (04:44):
Be potentially happening tonight.
Speaker 2 (04:45):
But I'm telling you, Mohawk, they were laser focused when
I was after walking on that field.
Speaker 1 (04:51):
That's what it's all about. Yes, we've talked to a
number of the players. We know how they are and
how much this means to them, and they are united
and hey, it should be a fun battle. So we'll
take sure a break, we'll come back and of course
we'll have your Reginavt Realty keys to the game as
we continue with our pre game. It is the Mohawk
Warriors hosting the Macomb Panthers for Matthews Hotacher a game
(05:14):
of the week. How about you ninety five to nine,
my Hurradio Ladies and gentlemen, we live in a great
country with freedoms like no other. Please stand for the
playing of the national anthem.
Speaker 3 (06:03):
Yeah, yeah, yeah h.
Speaker 4 (06:31):
H h.
Speaker 5 (06:36):
M hm.
Speaker 3 (06:39):
Hm hm.
Speaker 1 (06:44):
National Anthem here in Sycamore played by the Mohawks watching
band at the direction of Lee Whore. So it's God,
I'm Kirks, I'm glad you're with us to night for
Matthews how to keep of the week? Come at ninety
five nine the Macomb Panthers football Hawk Warriors. Right now,
we're going to get you, Regina. The keys of the game.
(07:05):
That really the keys to your next hole. What you
go for a Scott Well talking about Mohawk offensively, they
have to use the Trinity of football, the father Son,
the Holy Most, I mean with Fish, Bergner and Haymond. Uh.
Speaker 2 (07:21):
But they have to be very methodical because on the
other side of the ball, McCombs they have a long offense,
so they have tan that with a long paced offense
as well, you have to play playing, take care of
the ball. Obviously defensively, the keys for Mohawk at the
second level has to play huge, have to stop power
run of the shoot and short machine.
Speaker 1 (07:42):
You have to force from the pass.
Speaker 2 (07:44):
McCombe passes only about ten times a game on average,
so you're gonna have to force it into plasting and
making the field uncomfrom one.
Speaker 1 (07:53):
Trust your athletes for the.
Speaker 2 (07:56):
Macomb Panthers offensively, they have to a smart the three
four D defense that being brought by Mohawk, and so
they have to gain field and control the clock and
control of the game pace. And the other reason why
is because the special teams for Mohawk is second to none.
It's fantastic. It changes field position. It is the hidden
gem that they have. Defensively form a comb they have
(08:19):
to play discipline football. They've had a lot of problems
with penalties. Their ninth in their conference out ten teams.
So they have to stop the run, but they have
to walk for screens and play action, but they have
to do so in a disciplined fashion.
Speaker 1 (08:32):
All right, Well, there you go, our Regina at Realty
Keys to the game. What do you buys Scott Camera,
Well done by friend, love it. So we're getting geared
up for this contest. Obviously, the couple Panthers are out there.
They're jogging back onto the field and just a little
bit the Mohawk Warriors will blast through. The paper says
grab your gear or this field is what was I
(08:54):
saying as feeline free. Oh there you go, you know
jo cheerleaders. Oh my god, right, it's Feli for you.
Oh my gosh. Well, okay, well the Panthers, all they
saw that, obviously, you know what they gotta do about it. Anyway,
they're gonna play.
Speaker 2 (09:13):
Oh, they're gonna have the ball first, so we're gonna
find out real quick what they're gonna tsk.
Speaker 1 (09:17):
Right, yes, with their offense and their quarterback Garaty Shraders.
So yeah, it should be fun. So we'll take a
little break, we'll come back, and of course we will
have your starting lineups brought to you by the Pillar
Credit Union, as we can continue with our pre game.
It is Mohawk at McComb for Week twelve high school football.
(09:39):

So we'll continue with our starters presented by the Pillar

At running back Bryden Shoop. We'll asso see Bryden Heller.

(11:02):
loosso Ce, Grayson Romero and Cameron Smith. The tight end

at the mall Hall the lloy and the center is
Caleb Robinette mcguards Elijah Gibbs and Madden Amador, both started

(11:24):
As for the Macomb defence, on the line of defensive

(11:44):
with Grady Schrader sometimes rotating in. And the safeties are
Hated e Bright and Octavian Gonzales. So yeah, just a
couple of minutes away from the start of this game,
should be a good one.
Speaker 2 (11:55):
Man, it's exciting, Kirk. So, I mean, i'll tell you what. Uh,
black uniforms in the summer are absolutely horrible because it's hot.
Speaker 1 (12:04):
And it's miserable indeed.
Speaker 2 (12:05):
But there is nothing more intimidating. I mean, yeah, if
Enner Sandman Hell's bells plan. Now, I mean, you have
a team coming out here, run iron black jerseys. It's
always intimidating. We always used to like for tournaments, softball tournaments,
like guys like, man, just get black jerseys and I'm like,
you're gonna be hot and horrible all day. It's gonna
be like but at night, man, it pops. I'm like, yeah,
but so awesome. They're running out here in that and
(12:28):
it is intimidating. But there's a great crowd here that
people sitting on the end zone. Just people are excited
playoff week two, Like you mentioned the possibility the next
play next place. It's exciting to be here right now.
It's awesome high school football, you know, it is the
best thing ever.
Speaker 1 (12:45):
So glad to be here. Well, it is the twelfth
week of high school football. We're covering a second round
playoff contest on this eighth of November twenty twenty four.
The McCombe Mohawk Game is a regional quarterfinal in Division
seven Region twenty six. Mohawk is a four CE Macomb
the twelve see the McComb Panthers have arrived from their
village in Hancock County, a trip of about forty miles.
(13:07):
The Panthers carrier record of eight and three coming off
and opening playoff win on the road versus the higher
ranked Bombers of Eden. The Panthers won at twenty eight
to fourteen, and the Mohawk Warriors entered a contested our
home field and Sycamore, why Don County, coming off a
decisive forty nine to fourteen to win here over to
Ederton Bulldogs game we had for you on Magic at
ninety five nine. The Mohawk Warriors are the outright champions
(13:30):
of the Northern ten Atletic Conference. The Macomb Panthers belonged
to the Blanchard Valley Conference finished fourth. Liberty Benton was
the BBC champion this year. Chris Algae, head coach for McComb,
Eric Daniel HC four Mohawk so McComb wearing white and
(13:50):
as you mentioned, Mohawk heating black yep.
Speaker 2 (13:53):
And Mohawk is kicking the ball off to McComb. They
wanted the ball first, which is is kind of an
unusual thing because, uh, well, before the last couple of years,
mccomb's offense was very much running gun play play, play,
pass past, quick is quick, you go have a Jim
Kelly sort of thing here. In the last couple of seasons,
they've developed into a control of the clock, run the ball,
(14:15):
power run with a sidecar with their quarterback and side car.
So they've kind of changed their methodology here in the
last couple of years, but it's been very effective and
obviously it's effective enough last week to pull off the
upset in the playoffs. I mean five years ago they
wouldn't have been made the playoffs and here they knocked
off the five seats.
Speaker 1 (14:33):
So here's the kickoff, the first official matchup in fourteen years,
and here we go. Kick out brought to you by
the hostate University at Baryon and it is he probably
ought to return twenty five thirty yard line and the
Black Warriors are ready for them. Owen patres For the Warriors,
Patresei has had a tremendous season. He has emerged as
the leading tackler for the Warriors after the top five
(14:54):
tacklers graduated from last year, led by Evan England. He's
averaging eleven tackles per game. Patrese had it's been fantastic
and he stays out there a linebackers. Now, we'll look
at the Macomb offense led by Garadi for Raider. So
they started off first out and ten from the thirty
yard line. Rader, he is a the gotten as a
(15:15):
snap takes a hand off, the shoe, bounces to the
outside across the thirty thirty five and then tackle from
behind side of the forty yard line. Katy Kate Daymon
with the tackles, saw a nine yard game there for
for Rader.
Speaker 2 (15:28):
Yes, Rader, that's exactly what I've had coaches tell me
over the last couple of days that I've seen him play.
They do a lot of that same sort of sidecar quarterbacks,
your main runner and Schroeder.
Speaker 1 (15:40):
Skept the ball.
Speaker 2 (15:41):
The sidecar blocker did not go his way, so it's
kind of a little bit of a misdirection.
Speaker 1 (15:45):
I suppose you could say second and one thirty nine
yard line first driving this game quarterbacks, Raider keeps it again,
run to the left side and we'll see if he
got there. It looks like he might have got here
just enough. And they say, yes, he got the one
yard for the Matthews huntacker stalling for my coal.
Speaker 2 (16:01):
Yeah, second and short. You want to keep it simple,
stupid right, So nice job, nice power run play to
the left, going through the sea gap, trying to do
as much as you can, keeping it short, and had
a nice lead blocker, got the first down.
Speaker 1 (16:15):
So yeah, a good start to this opening drive for
the Macombe Panthers. First hand ten forty yard line in
their own territory. This time, Sarraider is under center, three
backs behind him. Quarterback has a snap and he hands
off to one of them. Just see which one. It
was probably a shoot that's generally, Oh this is Romera coming.
(16:35):
Interesting tiered lineup.
Speaker 2 (16:37):
They ended up going with the full back belly play
just to smash play and it's just got a couple
of yards, but that's what they do. They get short,
little bursts almost I tell you what you know. This
would have been Ohio State's main offense back.
Speaker 1 (16:50):
In the sixties, right in the six Love this stuff.
So yeah, seconds down, sixty four yard line. Quarterback has
a snap this time does go to shoot flags out
on the play. Looks like he was stopped right forty
five yard line, so it wouldn't be a game if one.
But we've got the penalty flag, got stopped up the middle,
try to bounce to the outside and there's a flag.
(17:11):
That's usually not going to be a yep ollegal shift
on the Panthers. Wow, okay, well, you know we mentioned
that the pregame of your pioty. You mentioned it the
pre game.
Speaker 2 (17:21):
They are very penalty prone, uh this year, and they've
had a lot of issues with penalties, so they're going
to have to do something about that in order to
upset Mohawk here tonight. They've had eighty penalties and now
eighty one penalties seven hundred and twenty seven yards this season.
Speaker 1 (17:36):
Second down, eleventh, third, nine yard line. That is interesting
to happen. Back s Rader goes upside, another flag comes out,
Another flag on the play. Yeah, stop, there there's a
whole there's Oh my god. Therefore the Panthers, Oh.
Speaker 2 (17:51):
They are just shooting themselves in the foot. And I
tell you what to play of the game. That was
a really hard snap the quarterback had to almost jump
up in the air to snag that ball. Made a
great play to keep that least to have a chance.
But Tilly's the client. We're gonna take a loss of
uh loss of down. That's smart play by the coach
from Mohawk.
Speaker 1 (18:11):
Absolutely, It's like, yeah, if you could get a eleven
yards on us on this third down, then hey, we'll
take it. Oh man, we've got something there doing a
repositioning here. Yeah, they're moving the ball he picked up, well,
now he puts it back.
Speaker 2 (18:29):
Yeah, they already made the decision that they weren't gonna
keep it. But you can't change your mind. Maybe they're
uh yeah, maybe they're talking about ken they decline. I
don't I'm not sure, Kirk.
Speaker 1 (18:41):
That is interesting. Yeah, let's see if they're gonna Yeah,
it looks like they're gonna. Yeah, they're walking it off.
Maybe they are. It's not the clon and.
Speaker 2 (18:53):
Here here's the thing, here's the thing, and and it's
gonna be second down. But this actually plays again right
in the Mohawk fort where they have a great special team.
So if you can get if you can get McComb
really behind the fence, I mean they're gonna have to
kick the ball to great special teams. So this is
actually a great in a way, in a weird way,
(19:14):
it's in a great offense for their defense.
Speaker 1 (19:16):
Second down twenty one from the twenty nine pass over
to the left side as conn always got a little
bit of a running room and stop shy on the
forty yard line. Caleb bish On the tackle of Octavianless.
Speaker 2 (19:29):
Just a really short almost a swinging gate kind of
bring up a scround play for the wide receiver. You
knew something like that was coming after power runs and
you need some sort of deceptive play to try and
get ten yards. That's exactly what they needed there to
keep the play going.
Speaker 1 (19:43):
Form a comb third and eleven from the thirty nine
yard line. Yeah, that was definitely the type of play
that they wanted to have. His old corner back from
the Guden has the snappedist straighter, looks to us right
down to his left, sets it up pass con Bike.
All of a sudden the ball comes out in the end.
That's a complete separates the ball I want to play here.
(20:10):
Here's the thing, it was really set up. It was
set up to.
Speaker 2 (20:13):
Everything go to the right and the quarterback went back
behind the field and Patresei. You know, listen, I talked
to a couple coaches this week in the conference and
they were just they were bombasterously gushing over Patresi and
his art and how he just really carries the defense
and gives them all their spirit and art. Great play
by him there and that fires a team up.
Speaker 1 (20:34):
Nice job, Owen. Patresi, as we know, the leading the
team in tackles eleven per game this season. Last year
had a total of five tackles all the year. He
has really tapped up his game.
Speaker 2 (20:45):
Man, And again he's he's just a little ball of energy.
He's an undersized he's an undersized kid, but man, his
heart just makes up for that. Nice job, young man.
Speaker 1 (20:56):
Fourth down and eleven has a gibs with he drops
right at the thirty one and then it gets stopped there.
Speaker 2 (21:05):
I couldn't tell if that was a bad punt or
if he was just trying to kind of squib kick
that to not kick it deep, because it didn't look
like he was trying to kick it very hard exactly,
because they do not.
Speaker 1 (21:15):
Want to kick too those returners, Sanders, that would be
bad news. If you can kick it a little bit short.
Speaker 2 (21:21):
Then they were gonna get that ten yards anyway, might
as well not let him have the chance to return it.
Speaker 1 (21:26):
So that might be an interesting.
Speaker 2 (21:27):
Special teams tactic that we see there on part of Macomb.
Speaker 1 (21:32):
You see if they continue with that nod down up
out and so let's see Mohawks first drive first had
ten thirty two yard line in their own territory. Nose
core as a quarterback. Ben Bogner just named this week
the inten Offensive Player of the Year. He's got the
ball and of courtse of downfield. Li's sene you one
on one for ham on the window talk, what a
(21:59):
you play? Sixty eight yards Paul Nerda haven Man.
Speaker 2 (22:07):
They went for all the cheese right there. Churs, I
mean it was a deep pass play and Haman, I mean,
you're so again. You're thrown to one of their great players.
Nice play by Hayman and kind of play defensive away
and jump up and get the ball the highest pinnacle
and he just ran.
Speaker 1 (22:24):
All the way.
Speaker 2 (22:25):
Nice play by Hayman. Even a better throw there.
Speaker 1 (22:31):
Wow, touchdown brought to you by the Central Ohio Farmers
co Op. Yeah, first play and they bust that out.
So here we go on a point after eight and
Patresei and they kick us up with the right foot
and it is good. So one on Wilson Tyres scoreboard
it is an Ullhawk seven and McComb zero eight fifty
one to go. First quarter of this second round playoff game.
So Glund to win us for high school football. I'
(22:53):
magic ninety five to nine Anheart Radio high school football
magic ninety five nine. Here at Sycamore fireworks already for
the lawyers, Yes, as they leaded seven to nothing, a
huge sixty eight yard play Ben Bogner. The defense made
a great stop, number one, great play, right, So Macomb's
(23:15):
kind of coming around like a little.
Speaker 2 (23:17):
Bit of hanging their head. So they probably weren't even
ready for that here theyve just weren't. It's almost like
a turnover, right when you get an interception, you want
to go deep first play, just to catch them off guard.
That's exactly what happened, and Macomb was not ready for that.
And uh Man, great pass by Bogner. He is so
efficient when he's throwing the deep ball. It just makes
(23:37):
a great throw and that's a touchdown.
Speaker 1 (23:40):
Rax and fresh with the ouse a university Mary take
them oh it's on the hands, but he's able to
recover its Grayson Romero, Wow, he really kept us the
wits about um there, Oh my gosh.
Speaker 2 (23:52):
Jack Seger he he's trying to dive in there and
gets that and get that ball. He's a little bit
loose and now it was a little bit late, but
the rest aren't gonna make a big fuss about that.
Almost to the he was already down. But hey, this
is this is a really big opportunity for McComb. They've
got to move the ball down the field in some capacity.
(24:13):
They've got to get it into the Mohawks side of
the field.
Speaker 1 (24:17):
They've got to this drive first and ten forty yard line.
Mahowking McComb in their own territory, trailing get something to
nothing as they go to soup right across the forty
five yards line.
Speaker 2 (24:29):
Yeah, shoop with the play just right up the gup,
falling blockers following the line.
Speaker 1 (24:34):
Nothing fancy, but it was effected.
Speaker 2 (24:36):
And uh, you know, shoop. You know they have McCombe
coming in here. They have two one thousand yard rushers,
so it's not it's not a hidden formula with as
little passing as they do and as many yards they
have on the ground, you know what's coming. So nast
job by shoot there to get some positive yard.
Speaker 1 (24:53):
And second down and four from the forty six yards line.
As the quarterbacks for ight to arrest of a snap,
helmet high takes it and runs the left side and
he squirms through, stays up. He's got the first down
yard is tackled by Kane Hayman, who made the tackle
on the previous play as well. But it is a
Matthews naka first down across midfield, yet.
Speaker 2 (25:11):
Direct snap right to the quarterback goes to b gap
on the left hand side. It was open, found a
whole squeaked through, got it first down. And this is
exactly and now they are in Mohawk territory, so they
needed to have some sort of offensive prowls like this
to control the clock, you know, kind of a loot
of the defense and everything else.
Speaker 1 (25:30):
Just kind of catch your breath because this is what
they do. They want to play forward, control the clock.
First and ten forty seven yard line across midfield near
side Hash mcote with the ball high snap handld by
raid Or hands it off shoe right side, taking on tacklers.
It gets it across the forty yard line. FLA comes
out late after that play. I saw Andy Klous among
the tacklers for the Mohawk Warriors along with Kane Hayman,
(25:51):
who's doing a tremendous job here early. But we'll see
about that battle day.
Speaker 2 (25:54):
Yeah, the late flag, the way they were throwing it
right at the tackle on was wondering those face mask.
Speaker 1 (26:04):
They called as a late flag for a hold.
Speaker 2 (26:10):
But uh, you know, and from the back judge coming
like that, there must have been something. You know, obviously
in high school they're not going to announce a number
of stuff, but that so that holding, once again, penalties
have been the bane of their existence and that's just
kind of stemies their efforts and moving the ball forward.
Speaker 1 (26:29):
So yeah, that to your point, that is interesting that
the flag came out well after the playoffs.
Speaker 2 (26:37):
I mean it was the player was down and then
the flag came out. It was for a hole.
Speaker 1 (26:42):
For a hole that is highly unusual.
Speaker 2 (26:43):
With the running the second level, just kind of usual.
Speaker 1 (26:45):
First of twelve and three nine yard line snapback raider
has it off to shoot, he gets low and he's
brought down on the car. What is going on?
Speaker 2 (26:56):
Tell you what they must have a heavy laundry.
Speaker 1 (26:59):
Bill flag flag flag flag and the and the lead Yeah,
there we go. There's the lead.
Speaker 2 (27:07):
Blocker for Maccombe. He kind of just fell over and
I think what happened is.
Speaker 1 (27:13):
The lead blocker kind of fell over.
Speaker 2 (27:15):
And so the runner was kind of going forward, and
so tackler just kind of grabbed anything, something, anything, and
just happened to be the face masking And it's an
unfortunate place kind of his face, uh was or the
hand was in the wrong place the wrong time for.
Speaker 1 (27:30):
Mohawk Souse at first the ten twenty eight yard line
in Mohawk Territory McComb with the ball first quarter, trailing
seven to nothing, back to Schrader run to the left
side and a bunch of tacklers, but Frere's still un
still fighting, and finally Hatemen was able to bring him down. Period. Yeah.
I mean.
Speaker 2 (27:48):
He was going to drive them all away to the
bus or all the way to the school man. But yeah,
and Res didn't call it because there's still an opportunity.
Speaker 1 (27:55):
To break loose.
Speaker 2 (27:56):
But as soon as he got through that first level,
the second level was right there to meet him. Nice
job by Hayman to keep driving him back. But you know,
second and five, this is exactly what they want. It's
a little bit like the Woody Hayes play, you know,
three yards and a cloud of dust, as long as
they keep clean and no penalties.
Speaker 1 (28:13):
Second five from the twenty three yard line, quarterback has
the snap Trader. It's sort to the left side and
Mason Jim was able to wrap up and bring him
down the twenty one yard line. It does up here,
you know, has to be take Oh, he's kind of
limping a little bit. O. Trader's lumping a little bit.
Speaker 2 (28:33):
You know, I was just gonna skep, just getting ready
to say, you know, this is week twelve of this offense,
and power run offense that runs and relies so heavily
on your quarterback. Twelve weeks is a lot of pounding.
At some point, you gotta pay the piper physically, and
and so it's.
Speaker 1 (28:49):
Gonna be interesting. Trader kind of got and he's kind
of walking around gimping. Traders going down as a receiver
this time, and they go to shoot by the direct
snap air cups soup on a run and the before
you're trying to rip the ball away. But he was
able to hold onto it and he gets enough for
the first down. It's on the fifteen yard time.
Speaker 2 (29:06):
Yeah, Shoop's used to carrying the ball, so we're not
going to rip that outore. I mean, do you call
that a wildcat anymore?
Speaker 1 (29:12):
Any I mean, yeah, you know, I guess so, Yeah,
technically that's a wild cat.
Speaker 2 (29:16):
You knew what you knew what was coming, and that
was coming right at you, and Mohawk could not stop that.
They just ran right through and blew up the interior.
I was I was talking to the Mohawk coach and
he was very complimentary about both sides of the ball,
the line being absolutely fantastic.
Speaker 1 (29:31):
From a Combe, we're seeing that here first and ten
thirteen yard line. After that, Matthews how the ager first
down and they go right back to shop. He's on
the move and then he has stopped this time inside
that head. Yeah. The defensive line, they stood.
Speaker 2 (29:44):
The defensive line just straight up and blocked and just
finding gaps. This is nothing fancy. Kirk is li Literally,
it is the most simplest archaic version of football you
could ever ask for. The Comb's executed Mohawks.
Speaker 1 (29:58):
All right, and Mohawk calls for the quest Federal credit
you did in time out, so we'll take it. With
five minutes to go in the first quarter, it's Mohawk leading,
gets seven to nothing on the comb but the Panthers
are driving. It's week two of the playoffs patric ninety
five to nine and iHeartRadio High School Football Magic ninety
five nine. Here in Sycamore, the Homebohawk Warriors leading, get
(30:18):
seven to nothing on the Macomb Panthers. But McComb with
the football here looking at a second down to five
eight yard line in the red zone, threatening for some points,
slowly moving the ball down the field. Yeah, they go
directly to shoot and he's get wrapped up. Caden bars tackle.
(30:39):
Dy's play by tackled by.
Speaker 2 (30:42):
Four four Mohawk players, and that was not a gentle tackle.
Speaker 1 (30:45):
Might I add to the left time after by Mohawk.
Speaker 2 (30:50):
Let them regroup, catch their breath. Mccomb's been moving the
ball and man, you know, here's the thing. Mohawk runs
a three to four, So there's gonna be a lost answer,
gonna there's gonna be some tricky stuff for the offensive line.
And that time they made the right defensive play call
and they slammed the right way.
Speaker 1 (31:08):
Third down the ten, shoot ball gets away from Buddy's
able to recover the slips on the field, but he's
got the ball back. Oh yeah, this is becoming disasterous
all over on top of them. It looked like Eli
Schievalier was the first agree him, along with Garre, many
other Bohawk Warriors.
Speaker 2 (31:25):
That got pretty rough again. So those listening at home,
you know, we talked a little bit earlier. There was
a bad snap. That was a bad snap that the
quarterback did not snack and it went way.
Speaker 1 (31:36):
Over his head.
Speaker 2 (31:37):
But he put a hand on it, was able to
get it, and he caught it. And yeah, there there
was just there wasn't much for shoot to do on that,
and he just kind of danced around, you know, like
he's listening to some due off and he just got.
Speaker 1 (31:50):
Hammered by all I mean, he all right, and then there.
Speaker 2 (31:56):
Was six or seven guys just plowed him. So puts
him in a.
Speaker 1 (31:59):
Fourth and long though the fourth and fourteen sefty yard line.
Here we goes back, another flags, Rader puts up in
the air to the insult. Way comes another flag comes
out simple there on defensive coverage of Octavian Gonzales. Yeah,
two flags.
Speaker 2 (32:14):
We might see counter penalties, see what because I believe
there will be past interference and I don't know, I
don't know, it might be a.
Speaker 1 (32:27):
Shift and against the Warriors, Yep, those should counter right,
So let's just do it again. Yep, it's say fourth
and I would say fourth and ten. I would say
(32:47):
fourth and ten. Do it again about.
Speaker 2 (32:48):
Four and fourteen? So yeah, and and and again they
have to go for it. McComb has to go for
it dur inside the red zone. They probably don't have
the kicker for it, so.
Speaker 1 (32:58):
They're going for fourth and fourth from the seventeen yard line.
Quarterback has it here?
Speaker 6 (33:04):
Huge, it's kay.
Speaker 1 (33:10):
And actually there could have been a in the back wow,
but the block in the back actually helped them thrust
forward two.
Speaker 2 (33:20):
Sack the quarterback and now the ball belongs to Ohawk.
Speaker 1 (33:25):
Wow. Big listen.
Speaker 2 (33:27):
That's that's a big play for two reasons. And actually
it's a big play for big play two reasons. One
from McComb because they didn't take the ball down the field.
They didn't have to kick to the special team. But
that's another Again, that's a big play for Mohawk because
obviously they didn't score a great hold there. So uh,
obviously Mohawk got the better of those two deals. But
(33:48):
nice job by McComb to at least show that they
can move the ball. But they got to make a
stop here.
Speaker 1 (33:52):
First at ten twenty nine yard line. Mahok with the
ball late in this first quarter, leading get seven to nothing.
Their first drive was just one play. This time Boger
takes off and runs with the ball instead of throwing it.
It is the passive game across the thirty five yard
that looks like they're spotting it at the thirty seven
for a game.
Speaker 2 (34:09):
Back run to the right all the way through the
beacon found a whole and you're right, yeah, here we
are late in the first quarter, and that was only
their second offensive place. Is that something that But honestly,
that's what McCombe does, and they execute that well. They
just didn't get down there and score. Their worst enemy
was themselves with their penalties.
Speaker 1 (34:28):
Second down into the thirty something of your line, the
Bullhawk Warriors trying to add to a seven to nothing
lee late in his first quarter, a bug takes a
shotgun snap and works on the left side and gets
tackled by Soup with some help from his mate including Marden.
Speaker 2 (34:43):
Oh listen, Cayden, bish just laid the thunder.
Speaker 1 (34:48):
Oh my god, isn't he something?
Speaker 2 (34:50):
He just laid the thunder as a block. I I
cannot describe it, but let's just say physics.
Speaker 1 (34:59):
And a nurse was involved in. Oh the McComb. Yeah,
that's beyond me. I think I think he is. Ah,
he's his bells probably a little bit ringing right now.
Third and one from the thirty eight snapped us back
and running Bogner the middle and he's able to take
it across the forty yard line for the Matthews Hondhakira
first down, Ben Bogner keeping a real step, just up
(35:22):
the guts the shortest line distance from straight line. And
that's all they did. Nothing fancy.
Speaker 2 (35:28):
Both of these teams have done nothing outstandingly flashy. There's
been a screenplayed by McComb, but nothing. It's very simple football,
but it's very effective for both teams.
Speaker 1 (35:39):
First, at ten forty two yard line, mohawk in their
own territory, leading a seven to nothing under two mens
to play first quarter, sapens back to Bogner, he has
a protection, rolls to the right, it breaks down. Oh
and then he falls down and that will be a
sec recorded for the deep.
Speaker 2 (35:54):
The trees for the wide receivers did not lend themselves
to go back and help Bogner. He was kind of
looking around, looking to the right hand side, and no
other receiver trees were coming back to him. And you
kind of saw in the receivers they finished their tree
route and they were looking around like, oh oops, and
they were like, should we go back? Well, it's too
(36:14):
late by that point he got sacked.
Speaker 1 (36:16):
Indeed, Oh my god. So second down and twenty one,
we're from the thirty three yard line. Final minutes of
the first Quarner bullhok lead to get stuff into nothing.
Bogner claps a hands, has a waist high snap, fakes
a hand off the cave, and bish moves towards the left,
then rolls says all right. As the fender falls down.
Bogner puts up in the.
Speaker 6 (36:35):
Air downfield, look for Hamer call it the field.
Speaker 1 (36:48):
Oh my as Jeremiah Smith esque, you know whoa you
have goodness?
Speaker 2 (36:55):
Oh my goodness? And here okay, so let's talk about
this real quick. Bogner he extended that.
Speaker 1 (37:00):
Play with his feet.
Speaker 2 (37:01):
There's plenty of opportunities for McComb to take him out,
and he just kept moving around, rolling out to the
right and he just threw loft though. Man, he just
threw that deep great.
Speaker 1 (37:10):
Catch Matthews Hondeker first down there. Cain Haman's amazing first
at ten thirty three yard line. Right back up. Bogner
moving to the left side, being chased on and then
brought down from beside on a nice tackle there. They
almost do that, Robinett. Too many people for King and Fish.
Speaker 2 (37:28):
He's just one man. There's three McComb players.
Speaker 1 (37:31):
They knew what players coming to the.
Speaker 2 (37:33):
Left hand side on the open side of the field.
So McCombe, great job defensively, great call uh to kind
of put the kebash a little bit on some of
the momentum.
Speaker 1 (37:44):
But so then a second down in thirteen thirty six
yard line could be the final play of the first
corner Mohawk Warriors with U seven to nothing lead, Bogner
from the gun, three receivers to the right, quarterback has
the snap, rolls to the right. Does Bogner has a
protection right there? He's being chased there by. Gibbs passed
up one a bit too high and incomplete looking for
Woodland at least three quite seven seconds in this first quarter.
Speaker 2 (38:07):
Again Bogner using his feet a little bit to keep
rolling out waggle right.
Speaker 1 (38:11):
And receiver was in the spot and he was wide open.
Speaker 2 (38:15):
This is not a real solid pass from Bogner, but
the receiver was wide open. He tried to tiptoe in
and it just over his head and that's it.
Speaker 1 (38:23):
You know. Yeah, that does stop the clock.
Speaker 2 (38:25):
But even worse, they put you in a third and long,
so you might be starting to fourth or a second
quarter to start making a big decision.
Speaker 1 (38:32):
Fourth down, third thirteen thirty six yard line and Macomb territory.
Mohawk with the ball under the pressure any of course,
anyway does Bogner down the.
Speaker 6 (38:39):
Field and and it falls incomplete.
Speaker 1 (38:44):
Hey Man still had a chance as he was fighting
with Donovan Hemperly, but could not bring it in. As
the first quarter comes to an end.
Speaker 2 (38:54):
Whoa yeah, got in there trying.
Speaker 1 (38:59):
To make some hold.
Speaker 2 (39:01):
So Mogner just threw it up, and it's kind of
like a backyard football game where two guys tapping the
ball and fell in complete.
Speaker 1 (39:08):
We'll try to take our bread here for a moment,
take a short break on our Wilson Tarre scoreboard, it
is Mohawk seven and McComb zero. We'll be back for
the start of the second quarter for Matthew's Hot nacher
A Game of the Week, a Magic ninety five to nine,
and Tihart Radio High School Football Magic ninety five nine.
We saw off the second quarter here for Warrior Field
(39:29):
Mahope where he's leading it seven to nothing on the
Macomb Panthers. You got a fourth down and thirteen every
in the thirty six yard line. Oger, we're just oh,
and then he gets sacked from behind. Gibbs Elijah gives.
He is such spot a powerful athlete. He is a
hurling star for that McComb school has the record for
(39:50):
both the discus and the shot putt. And he's also
a fantastic football player front of Panthers.
Speaker 2 (39:55):
He is their leading tackler on that team, and made
a great play. Again we said that it was third
and long. That incompletion is gonna put him in a
tricky fourth and long. That's not a good way necessarily
start a quarter, especially now it's then you got the
sack and now really a turnover and they're starting out
the forty.
Speaker 1 (40:14):
Three Yeah, forty three first and ten as they handed
off here to shoot to the right side, he's going, well,
I want to get down and here go soup and
he's stampsing towards these own four touchdown.
Speaker 2 (40:28):
Stock stock blocker on the right hand side was not
gonna let his now make that tackle and man shoop
just took off and he was just left behind a
cloud of dust and a little bit of silence.
Speaker 1 (40:41):
Has fallen on the crowd here, Kirk.
Speaker 2 (40:43):
They're kind of like, uh, oh, took one on the
chin there, and but that's that danger coming into that
fourth quarter with the fourth down. You know, I I
hindsight twenty twenty almost should have run the ball on
second down and just gone in third quarter start or
third third down are in second court.
Speaker 1 (41:00):
So fifty seven yard touchdown play there, and the extra
Polintans does not go, oh wow, well that is interesting.
So the most entire scoreboard, Mohawks still has the lead.
Speaker 2 (41:12):
But then we get we've got a player down here.
Speaker 1 (41:15):
Seven to six. The Warriors lead the Wacombe Panthers, and
then you see a player.
Speaker 2 (41:21):
Yeah and well, and the players are even calling for
the players are even calling. When the players start calling
for the coaches to come on and stuff. It could
be pretty bad. We'll have to wait and see.
Speaker 1 (41:33):
Let's think a break does appear to be one of
the Panthers, so they are tending to him as we
will take a short break. Seven to six Mohawk with
the lead on McComb. It is our Matthew Untactre game
of the week, Come Magic ninety five to nine at
iHeart Radio High School football Magic in ninety five nine.
Here at Mohawk, the Warriors leading. It's seven to six
off the Panther Panthers. Does appear that the inter player,
(41:58):
sophomore Hayman five nine two fifty does get out on
special teams, got up on his own power. Appeared to
be rubbing the shoulder area. So yeah, yeah, but it
was it was. It was good, you know, great sportsmanship
by everybody. Just kind of give him, give him the
tiny needs, all right. So here we go with that issue.
(42:19):
Marry and kickoff and Hayman on the return on the
right side, splits through two tackled shy of the thirty.
So again another good return. Nice job this season.
Speaker 2 (42:33):
Yeah, split split the players, split the defenders and fall forward.
Anytime you fall forward, you're getting that extra yard. Sometimes
potentially two depending on how you fall in your momentum.
But yeah, nice job. I will say I was told
all week again about these three playmakers on the defense
and Hayman is he's living up to the billing.
Speaker 1 (42:53):
Yeah, he's been really a star. I mean, great player,
great athlete. First ad in thirty four yard line as
we get the snack here, Bognar goes to Kate and
Fish runs to the left side stop shige of the
forty yards line on potame Fish with the.
Speaker 2 (43:18):
Off tackle side, uh, the open side of the field,
gains a couple of yards, keeps it moving forward. And
you know, this is a kind of a situation. They're there,
have a they have a one point lead. This would
be great for Mohawk. They could go down here and
score a touchdown, obviously, but then you start saying, do
you go for two and make it a two possession game?
Speaker 1 (43:39):
Yeah, exactly. Second it is having let's say there was Yeah,
maybe you didn't hear the whist there.
Speaker 2 (43:48):
I think he kind of tripped. There is some unintentional extracurricular.
Speaker 1 (43:53):
They called the encroachment against Comb here. Once again, it's
I mean, that's the board that's gotta be what they're remaining.
Speaker 2 (44:02):
Fifth Pelly, and I mean, so it is a fifth
or six. It has been a thorn in their side
and that's just freezy yards and you cannot do that
for you're in a playoff game.
Speaker 1 (44:13):
Second down into from the forty two yards line. Quarterback
has a snap here Ben Pogner and he passes it
downfield and just caught.
Speaker 6 (44:21):
By calab pull up Fender and here we go Caleb
on the ruds.
Speaker 1 (44:25):
He's got those.
Speaker 7 (44:31):
Defensive the way for the touchdown. A great job by Bish.
They had twins on both sides, stacked on the right
and Bish was.
Speaker 1 (44:42):
On the left. He just made a nice comeback route.
Speaker 2 (44:45):
The defender was two yards behind him as a soft
coverage and Bish made him pay. Took off turnaround, started
running towards the center.
Speaker 1 (44:54):
I was like, what are you doing? Go to the
left and he ended up breaking to the left around
a ten yard line, walking into the end order for touchdown.
Brought to you by the Central Ohio Farmers cut op.
As we get Aiden Patresei in by the point after
they're trying to I's like, I said, you mean, could
you go for two? They couldn't, but they're wait for
the sure point because the patresa is so good at
(45:16):
that and he you know, philosophical warriors.
Speaker 2 (45:21):
One of those things was like, I mean, you're up
by the touchdowns and then if they score, they got
to get to a nurse pressure on him to do that, right, So.
Speaker 1 (45:29):
It's one of those things.
Speaker 2 (45:30):
Yes, I'm not an Amazon statistics guy like the advertise
on the NFL.
Speaker 1 (45:35):
Well, but it's also your life indeed, but you always
wonder like, man, if you go for two and you
go up nine, man, you know you really put them
into well, maybe the next time they score, Wilson's score
more than it's fourteen too, Hawk leading macone. So we
had that fifty seven yard touchdown play from Tom McCombe
(45:59):
and then ants they charter right there. Yeah, and.
Speaker 2 (46:06):
Once again that's exactly what Mohawk needs. They had to
go down score. It's all about momentum and and sometimes
if you're a hot team, you uh McComb came in
here as a hot team is twelve knocking off of five,
so they've they've had to stick around and keep fighting
and so nice job by mohawk. Two big plays play.
(46:27):
Big plays have been this this entire game, Kirk. It's
all been big plays. Nothing necessarily the big plays offensively
three of them and they're all.
Speaker 1 (46:36):
Touchdowns the University of Barry and kickoff here back in
fresh for the Mohawk Warriors. All when the ball gets away, Hope,
he's got to pick it up, and he does. That's
a twenty yard line right to the right side, right
at me. Bright. Oh, but he's not able to get
away from all those books right, just not getting that clean.
Speaker 2 (46:52):
He's he's holding on to like a baby delivery doctor
and a baby and he just had a bag of
popcorn and can't grab that thing right and it's sitting
on the floor and Mohawk just ran him down.
Speaker 1 (47:04):
And you gotta play clean.
Speaker 2 (47:06):
It's one of those things where clean plays make all
the difference. And if you kind of fumble the ball
a little bit and you're uncertain, that's four or five
steps when you.
Speaker 1 (47:15):
Have gunners running at you. You gotta play clean.
Speaker 2 (47:18):
So Macomb's kind of putting themselves in a little bit
of a pickoire because it's a misplay.
Speaker 1 (47:23):
First of ten, twenty yard line of cone with the ball.
They go back to the ground on the snap two
super five shoot Carrie stops. We're on the twenty three
maybe twenty four yard line on that first play, so
a gain of three or four off.
Speaker 2 (47:35):
Tackle kind of his own reads sort of play, but
to the right hand side, which is a close side
of the field, so not necessarily running to open space. Uh,
but it got positive yardagin here comes McComb. That's a
that's what they do right, ground.
Speaker 1 (47:50):
And pound second down in seven twenty three yard line
in their own territory. Early in the second quarter and
trailing at fourteen to six. Quarterback takes a snap, hands
it off right up the middle of this time. It
is Grayson and he has started right there.
Speaker 2 (48:02):
Ever so tackle by Logan Hemminger signing in the gap
there and not take her now. He busts through there
on the three four found the right spot, made a
nice tackle, and it's going to be third and five.
It's uh, you know that that's something that it's tricky
(48:22):
because McComb doesn't like to necessarily pass the ball, so
that's a hard.
Speaker 1 (48:25):
Spot for McCombe. I'm going to play third five and
twenty five yard line. There we go right here with
Raider and he looks like he's trying to break free,
but the Warriors are all over there as the thirty
yard line, he's got it up. He's to a first
town doesn't quarterback committee to the inside, and that that
was a little bit more up in field. He just
(48:46):
had enough.
Speaker 2 (48:47):
He kind of got clipped, kind of lunch forward, fell forward,
like I said, and that that gave him that extra
yard or two first down.
Speaker 1 (48:56):
Grady Trader, Yes, especially for some of those short yardage plays.
He knows what he did. Yeah, he is a tough
young man. The first down and ten thirty one yard
I'm coming with the ball trailing at fourteen to six,
snap is back here, cups Rader again right side, but
Garrett Ryan Hart behind and brings him down right at
the thirty. Looks like I lost a one that host
(49:19):
of Warriors do on the tack right that that was
man Trader.
Speaker 2 (49:26):
He just kind of took off to the right end
mohawk again. It's one of those things where you're doing
three four and you slant. If you slant the exact
way of the correctly, it's really bad offensively.
Speaker 1 (49:37):
And that's what that play was.
Speaker 2 (49:38):
He just slanted right into uh Trader and he just
said he didn't have a chance.
Speaker 1 (49:43):
Got a loss on the play. Is that a down
an eleven thirty yard line with a twelve to go
in a second quarter, open right at the snap, and
it does a false start against my call.
Speaker 2 (49:54):
I don't I don't want to say the best defense
has been necessarily Mohawk. It's been down, it's been mccomb's
offense has been their best defense. They just keep making
mistakes and it's you just can't have that.
Speaker 1 (50:09):
That's so hard to overcome, especially Week twelve on the
road here at Warrior Field.
Speaker 6 (50:14):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (50:15):
Yeah, and there's some things where you just these are
not plays like oh, this is a face mask or
something like it.
Speaker 1 (50:21):
These are plays. These are pillings that just should not
be happening at this point, and it's just putting them
in a bad spot. Taking sixteen front of twenty five
yard line snap back here to Shoop runs right into
a little bit help from space five number five.
Speaker 2 (50:37):
And Kane bishos in there too. There is a just
to run to the left again, nothing fancy.
Speaker 1 (50:43):
And brings up a third down from a call Hawk Mohawks.
Speaker 2 (50:46):
So far this drive has made their right calls defensively
on that three four, so they're bringing down their len
ren and uh, they're doing everything right.
Speaker 1 (50:57):
They are doing a great job.
Speaker 2 (50:58):
Now they're just going a straight Yeah, they're just going
straight three three four long here standing in.
Speaker 1 (51:04):
Turn fourteen twenty seven. Yeah, back to Schrader on a snap,
throws on a run KD. E Bright left side, but
out about here, so it's not a legal reception. Bright
and Ebright's at the thirty five yard line, and even.
Speaker 2 (51:17):
Then that would have been a fourth and five and
you're on your own thirty eight Where are you gonna
take it? Are you gonna punt it? That's just so
it just wasn't enough. But that's again they're not used
to that kind of all.
Speaker 1 (51:29):
We have to pass for a.
Speaker 2 (51:30):
Lengthy amount that you cannot be behind the change when
you make those mistakes, because it puts you in a
bad spot.
Speaker 1 (51:38):
Well puts it at fourteen fourth at fourteen twenty seven
yard line and Elajah Gibbs with another punt with us
right foot. He's got that powerful leg cod across the
thirty five yard line by Haymn forty forty five on
a return before being tackled and special teams with the
racer Romero and he had some help there Wan gallaghery. Yeah,
(52:01):
and Amon made a nice return. He's a return.
Speaker 2 (52:04):
Uh McCom made a better job with their gunners getting
down and staying in sidellite.
Speaker 1 (52:11):
That is the punter I've ever.
Speaker 2 (52:13):
Seen my life kicking. He's a big boy man. Oh man, Yeah,
that's a I mean, he's no Sebastian Janakowski.
Speaker 1 (52:22):
Well there's yeah, there's that in that dude was Oh
my gosh, right t h I c Securt Thick forty
seven yards line, snaff it back here bugner and hands
it off. Run up the middle, carrys at midfield for
(52:45):
a three.
Speaker 2 (52:49):
Run up the gut, just a gut for the halfback,
gains a couple of yards. At this point six thirty eight,
you're thinking, okay, if we can control the ball, no
wing mohawk gets the ball back to begin the second half,
If you can bleed this clock down, keep moving, lead
the clock down, because you know mccomb's not going to
(53:10):
try and do a good anything with a minute left,
so they could be trying to do a two for
one right here.
Speaker 1 (53:16):
Okay, well we got a second down and seven here
from midfield. Both guys, this's that fakes a hand off
looking down field one.
Speaker 4 (53:22):
On one for Ham and those people stretches up for
the ball. I can't believe he just caught the ball.
Bigger tips.
Speaker 1 (53:36):
Greene Haman is looking like an NFL level receiver here tonight.
This is incredible. Keen Hayman. What unbelievable just to fade
and is just perfectly thrown perfectly.
Speaker 8 (53:47):
Time dive for the ball on the hand side. Oh,
what a catch. That is under real. I cannot believe
he caught that football.
Speaker 1 (53:57):
He's parallel with the ground. Kirk oh my word, First
and ten, fourteen yard line in the red zone, step
back to Boger runs to the right side, cuts through Ben,
taking on tacklers and knocked out. It's just looking and
at the McComb players, their hands on their heads, fans something.
Speaker 2 (54:18):
They have their heads down just a little bit. And mohawk,
this is the time when you just step on the gas.
So here I was talking about maybe two points. You
gotta him and the job while they're sitting around and
they're just in a swoon. So here comes the mohawk.
Speaker 1 (54:32):
Wayers second and one from the five. Here in the
red zone, quarterback Ba grins a step. He wants to
take off and run it. He's a tough runner and
he is top shot and looks like he's marked in
the one. But that'll be good enough for a first down, nonetheless.
Speaker 2 (54:49):
So it's not as good as a touchdown. But you know,
the riding is on the wall, especially right now. And
one thing that's being done. Mohawk is controlling the line
very well right now. Macomb has a great defensive and
offensive line, but Mohawk's doing a great job. Chevalier on
the left hand side doing a great job kind of
controlling things.
Speaker 1 (55:09):
First, a goal from the three. Let's see if Mohawk
can finish it off. Bogner, he's gonna take himself get
tripped up though.
Speaker 2 (55:17):
Wow, great individual play. I can't see who it was,
but he busts through, he busts through the block. Great
play in the backfield. Just dovee and made a shoe
string tackle.
Speaker 1 (55:27):
And that's for that.
Speaker 2 (55:28):
I think that was Griffin abador Man. That's a great play.
I mean, he just it was so quick and he
just he just dove back, made a shoe string tackle
and has a loss of about half a hour.
Speaker 1 (55:39):
All right. As we look at the second and goal
past the one, quarterback has a snap. Bogner just looking
through and they are checking to see if he was
able to break the calawing him down. Oh, just on
the one inside, trying to make him work some more. Hey, hey,
hey could fall. Good call.
Speaker 2 (56:00):
All they were listen, all they were doing is just
having Bogner run straight in straight, shortest line, straight line. Bang,
and but he's on the head jump before me.
Speaker 1 (56:10):
They got third of goal. Let's see it. Yep, here
we go, Boger running in hard. I don't know. Wow,
I tell you that a fly comes out afterwards. Oh,
stuff is happening down there.
Speaker 2 (56:27):
That's gonna that's gonna be on mohawk.
Speaker 1 (56:29):
Wow. Oh my goodness, I he uh yeah, yeah, sports
like conduct. Yeah, lawyers O the coombe.
Speaker 2 (56:43):
Great job, Greade three place. I mean it's almost Ohio
State esque.
Speaker 1 (56:47):
Right.
Speaker 2 (56:47):
They've been doing that a lot of way, comb doing
the same thing. Great, three gold line stands in a row.
That's gonna be frustrating, uh to mohawk. And they just
chirped at the wrong time, did the wrong thing.
Speaker 1 (56:59):
That's of fifteen Wow. Yeah. So coach coach Daniels kind
of he's asking, well, what am I supposed to do?
Where do you know?
Speaker 9 (57:08):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (57:09):
So here we are.
Speaker 2 (57:10):
Goodness, gracious, we just had the same thing. It's gonna
be fourth and goal from.
Speaker 1 (57:15):
The sixteen exactly right. So here we're talking.
Speaker 2 (57:20):
I miss spoke Kirk I says it's the mater of time.
Speaker 1 (57:23):
But that's what happens. Goofy stuff happens. What a game
it is. I know we're not even gonna half time.
Trips on the right. You know it's coming, all right.
The quarterback the crops of hands and looks back over
tornouse old side line and it's gotta be all seventeen
remaining until half time out to the whistles, I'm out.
We are getting a quest Federal Credit Union time out
(57:44):
for the Mohawk Warriors with three sixteen to go until halftime,
score fourteen to six.
Speaker 2 (57:49):
And you know what's gonna happen. Everyone knows how you
have to score. So if you are Macomb, you might
even look at maybe doing like I know they I
don't know how many safety he's have. You guy, drop
at least two safeties back and just keep everything in
front of you. And then man, you might even do
a cover three and just try and cover those three
different zones and just keep everything out of that end zone.
(58:11):
So and if you are, mohawk, you gotta do some
sort of crossing route, try and rub the corners off
and just kind of try and stop their defenders. So
we'll see what they do. You know, when they have
the trips over to the right hand side coming out,
I'm interested to see if they do that same thing
or if they try to run check kind of a
(58:34):
double stack and try and just rub off the defender,
try and freeing up a receiver.
Speaker 1 (58:39):
So we'll see what happens. Meanwhile, yeah, some other intent teams,
so struggling in the first half, Well, we have more
for our Reinsurance Agency halftime show. Pacinica East down a
couple of touchdowns, carry down three touchdowns, and Colonel Crawford
down a touchdown and field goal at least that amount.
So we'll get into that for our halftime show. Over
right now. Four down to go in goal from sixteen.
(59:03):
Here we go. Bogner's stiff arm. Does he have enough
to get off a pass?
Speaker 9 (59:07):
Oh?
Speaker 1 (59:07):
Did he gets ripped off behind with her horse collar?
Look like their walls no call, scramble and the coach
Randon Banking looked like he was in there. The official
was right there to see it. Ben be a official bust.
Disagree with that assessment.
Speaker 2 (59:24):
Of the Panthers coach Daniels really hot right.
Speaker 1 (59:26):
Oh my goodness. I could understand why he's upset.
Speaker 2 (59:30):
He's he's really hot right now. But I will say,
great job by Bogner not trying to just throw something
up in the air.
Speaker 1 (59:37):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (59:37):
They had a double coverage on Hayman. They had a
man and then they had a man deep.
Speaker 3 (59:42):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (59:43):
Basically they're doing cover three like I said, and and
put the cover three, but one of them was walked
in on Hayman. So honestly, great defense there by McComb.
That's what the doctor ordered for them.
Speaker 1 (59:55):
We've got a first at ten thirty yard line. Three
await to go until halftime, but come with the ball.
Try I get fourteen to six snap back to Srader
Rose on the right side to Romero and nice tackle
and open space quick by poor Caleb Bish that time.
Speaker 2 (01:00:11):
Greet job by Bish staying on the man covering the
man one yard because again you're not really necessarily expecting that.
But mccomb's in a little bit of a position where
they're going to try and move the ball down here
to try and equate it before halftime.
Speaker 1 (01:00:24):
They got to move quick. Second to nine thirty one
yard time. Here we go, snap back, Srader back pedals
passing the dear sidects all its catches a thirty yard line,
but the warriors are there and wrap them up and
bringing down. Really though we are multiple warriors, there's.
Speaker 2 (01:00:40):
Nothing vertical, nothing vertical being preserved as a threat form
a comb and they need some sort of vertical threat
they're going to do anything.
Speaker 1 (01:00:48):
Then it's next two and two minutes and change.
Speaker 2 (01:00:50):
They've got to have some for some sort of vertical threat,
and there's nothing, uh, you know, doing these little screens
and throws a flat that's that's cue for trying to
maintain possession. But that's not going to move me down
real quick.
Speaker 1 (01:01:03):
Third down and seven thirty three yard lines. We head
towards the two minute mark of the second quarter, heading
toward half time. Snap us back from my comb frail
at fourteen to sixt sack. Yeah, he just he beat
his defender.
Speaker 2 (01:01:23):
There's no one that hardly even touched him and he
just ran so the mohawk. Uh, basically they're trying to
run a play over to the left, and yeah, there's
there's just no chance for Schroeder and he just what
in the great individual play.
Speaker 1 (01:01:37):
By Bish, no doubt about it. As we get the
quest frontal credit union time out with one fifty one
to go until halftime, fourteen to six, is the Mohawk lead. Yeah,
Kayden Bish, Yes, sophomore player. Quite an athlete you think about,
he's also a star wrestler into championship only with the team,
but individually to do so as a freshman. So he
(01:02:00):
is one dude who star is really rising and it's
coming here at the right time in the playoffs.
Speaker 2 (01:02:05):
Yeah, everyone, you know, everyone's talking about Caleb Fish, but
he said there's another brother in his house that can
play some.
Speaker 1 (01:02:11):
Ball to boys. Yes, sir, So here we are McComb.
Speaker 2 (01:02:14):
Fourth and long. Clearly they're gonna punt it. So this
is exactly what Mohawk wants. Great special teams, great returners,
and you've got to punt to them and they're gonna
end up on your half the field.
Speaker 1 (01:02:27):
That's gonna put some pressure on you, and they're gonna
have the ball. With about a minute and forty and
minute thirty left with the eighteens from the twenty two,
there's that punt from Gibbs and approach. Here he come
forty thirty five, spins, takes it to the thirty yard
line before he gets smashed. They might mark him just
Siah that thirty well put to run right.
Speaker 2 (01:02:51):
On the run, and he ran that back, putting that
back deep into uh McComb territory. Starting here, they'll be
on the thirty two. Great job by himming to just
just snag just good timing. But that punt has to
be taller. I know it's kind of difficult for a
bigger guy, but that punt had to be taller. You
(01:03:13):
can't give a good returner stuff like that. So we
talked about that at the beginning. It interesting, is that
short punt that they did. I just don't think the
kicker has the leg that we're expecting.
Speaker 1 (01:03:23):
That may be the case. Indeed, all right versus ten
thirty two yard line in Macomb territory, mohawk about the
fourteen to six leave with one forty five to go,
that theyn't have time snap back, brothers not going. The
bogner sets his feet and lousa Rush runs to the
right side, tucks it, takes it towards a thirty and
then scamper's out of bow Boner not looking to force
anything the ballonst time outs.
Speaker 2 (01:03:45):
Take your time, don't have to force anything. You're in
there into the field. You are talking about here Kirk Gibbs,
a punter for m Coombs in the bottom part of
the league.
Speaker 1 (01:03:57):
Oh there you go. So you know you got the numbers?
I got them? Yeah, Oh my word, I did not
expect that. You are fired enough to die, my friend.
Second and eight from the thirty do you take requests
as a quarterback? Bogner has the steps. That's the feet
out of it. Kalem pitch with that cats across a
(01:04:18):
fifteen yard line and the fight for a tackle and
stopping that number finally brought down by Hipperley. But that
is about back to a first down. Luke Kern in
there to make that stop. Actually for not Hipperly to
the Warriors.
Speaker 2 (01:04:34):
The best part was Bogner set his feet made to
throw right on point. He didn't try and hurry it.
He kept his feet wrong.
Speaker 1 (01:04:42):
Point first at ten from the leven yard line, Snapps
back two Bugner, oh under oh good block at the
last moment. The past is incomplete. Dear on the right
side stops the clock at one eleven. Yeah, I think
there is a miscommunication in the route. Uh probably, Yeah,
he hooked in.
Speaker 2 (01:04:59):
I think he thought he's gonna receiver. It was in
the side of the end zone.
Speaker 1 (01:05:03):
I thought.
Speaker 2 (01:05:04):
I think they thought towards the sideline. That's where the
throw went and said the receiver hooked in to the
middle of the field. So just a little bit of miscommunication.
But if that wouldn't have happened, and he would have
been wide open for a touchdown.
Speaker 1 (01:05:19):
He has defended deep all right, well, maakes his second
down and ten from the eleven yard line. Mohawk trying
to add to a fourteen to six lead late here
before the break. Bogner has the ball, tries to break
a tackle, but greens and Brow hangs on and brings
him down.
Speaker 2 (01:05:36):
And it was the wrong decision. He should have hand
that ball off, let the runner go right up the gut.
He held on to the ball, didn't read the end
right and and not hand the ball off. We're under
one minute running clock, third and fourteen. At some point,
I mean, do you call a time out here or
do you just run to play and see.
Speaker 1 (01:05:55):
How it goes? They're four fifteen.
Speaker 2 (01:05:57):
The oul s screaming he's screaming to run to play.
Speaker 1 (01:06:00):
They want to go, and Woodland heads over to the
near side. Quarterback Bogner has a shotgun, staff sets the
feet to throw an interception for Soup across that ten
chu across the fifteen kiten bitch is able to make
that tack hole in these eighteen point seven seconds Sho,
(01:06:22):
but Braidon Shoop comes up with the vera toptry group
turnover for Macomb and that's only the fourth interception thrown
on the season or the quarterback Ben Bogner.
Speaker 2 (01:06:32):
Correct So when you're talking about the great efficiency of
McComb and or of Mohawk and Boger, man, that was
just a non characteristic throw.
Speaker 1 (01:06:41):
There was no one really even there. I feel like
he just.
Speaker 2 (01:06:43):
Got they If there's that big miscommunication before that play,
Frint in hindsight again, probably should have called time out
and said, hey, this is a big position, right, this
is a really big position. We need points here because
we're gonna get the ball back coming back out. So
everything was rushed. Their throws rushed, poor throw choice. I
gotta give it to Macomb, though, Man, they're holding in there.
Speaker 1 (01:07:03):
First of ten twenty yard line. See what they do
They get to Shoop. He's a big runner and he
takes it right up to the stops with the carry
by Logan Hemminger and Eli Shavaler on a twenty six
yard line.
Speaker 2 (01:07:14):
Yeah, they're just trying to get into the halftime here.
Speaker 1 (01:07:16):
Well waiting did they call for a time out? Cold McComb? Interesting?
Interesting macomb calls for the questional credit. You didn't time out?
Speaker 2 (01:07:26):
Well, you know you only get so you only get
twenty four minutes and a half. And uh, if you're gonna,
if you're behind, you might need every second of it.
Who knows, maybe we might see a hail Mary and
uh or some sort of hook, some sort of hook
ladder or something to set the play misdirection.
Speaker 1 (01:07:42):
Uh, maybe trying to.
Speaker 2 (01:07:44):
Squeeze in an easy, cheap touchdown. But had kind of
unusual call time out there. But I again, I gotta
give it to McComb.
Speaker 1 (01:07:51):
Uh. They've made a.
Speaker 2 (01:07:52):
Couple huge stands defensively against Mohawk, and Mohawk was the
train was running and mcco they stood tall, and that
defense man, that defense has stood the test. Mohawk very easily,
very easily, could be up twenty eight to six right
now and Macomb has just not.
Speaker 1 (01:08:13):
Let that happen. That's what it comes down to. It's right,
and they know it's a it's a long football game,
but yeah, they've got those big play performers, so that yeah,
they are going to try to give it a shot.
Here with eight point four seconds left till halftime and
trailing at fourteen and six, we will see to go
down in five to twenty five yard line. There we
got a flag. Yep. Sure they wander to go to
(01:08:34):
the right side and carry for the Panthers play. So
if if it's against well, let's see, it's it's a shift,
he was telling the umpires, and shifts they'll be declined
and they'll go in. Yeah, yep, that's what's happening. Yeah,
what I suspect nothing to gain go in. I'll tell
(01:08:59):
you what, Kirk, Yeah, happened. That's right. That's up. That
happened in that first half.
Speaker 2 (01:09:06):
We'll digest it and come back and talk about it
here before the beginning of the second half.
Speaker 1 (01:09:11):
Sounds good to me, all right, So we'll get ready
for our Read Insurance Agency halftime show in church with
a name you know and trust. So at the half
it is a Mohawk fourteen Macomb six. So gladder with
us tonight for our Matthew's Hotaka Game of the Week
a Magic ninety five nine at night Heart Radio High
School Football Magic ninety five and nine. Here at Mohawker,
(01:09:35):
the Warriors have a fourteen to six lead on the
Butcomb Panthers, So glad heer with us for our Read
Insurance Agency half time show and looking at some other
scores in the N ten oh some challenging ones so
far Sinkeys treinly get fourteen to nothing to hope, well,
(01:09:55):
allowdon we know the chieftains on the number one seeds,
so that would certainly be cool and achievement if the
Tiger's able to come back and win that one. We
know what the chieftains are all about. Carrie trailing it
at Patrick Henry twenty one to nothing. The Patriots, another
team every year, seems that they are right in the mix,
so they are getting it done so far. Colonel Crawford
(01:10:17):
is trailing at thirteen to three. But keep in mind
the Eagles are playing Grandview Heights the Bobcats the number
one seed in that region, so the Eagles they are
fighting tough there. And who knows they might have a
chance to come back and again it so we will
be watching for those scores throughout the night. As for
some other area scores, we see that Ottawa Glandorf has
(01:10:41):
a seven to six lead on Shelby. That's obviously interesting
because Shelby is an undefeated football team and when you
get into the playoffs, it's one and done, so you
gotta get it done each and every time. Ontario with
a twenty eight to nothing lead, I should say on
the Clyde for liars. We also have North Moore up
(01:11:01):
on Centerber twenty two buffing, So that's what we've got
at this point. We'll take a break. We'll come back
for more if our read In Turon Agency halftime show.
As the Mohawk Warrior Marching Band continues to perform for
this crowd. On our Wilsonentire scoreboard, it is Mohawk fourteen,
(01:11:22):
Macomb six for Matthews NACREAG Game of the Week, I'm
Matic ninety five nine and I Hurt Radio High School
Football Magic ninety five nine. As our Reading Church Agency
halftime show continues at Sycamore, the Bullhawk Warrior Marching Bands
performing for the fans that's a direction of Lindsey Horne.
As we are here score fourteen to six, the Mohawk
(01:11:45):
Warriors leading the visiting Macomb Panthers.
Speaker 2 (01:11:48):
Yeah, I tell you what, there's a lot of different
things that happen. There's always different things that have in
a football game. Although but as very protectable with some
of the offensive been on both sides of the ball
for more teams, there's there's been some big moments and honestly,
(01:12:09):
sometimes the best defense that we've seen is a bad
offense and that means penalties, right, And there's been one
one turnover, you know, that's no big it was, I
mean obviously hurt Mohawk, But other than that, man, there's
been a lot of penalties on the cove.
Speaker 1 (01:12:25):
So I'm just looking at my pregame notes, Kurk, and
I'm looking and I'm looking at my keys of the game, right. Yeah,
So let's if I go back and I revisit this.
You know, the keys for.
Speaker 2 (01:12:38):
Mohawk use your trend to Holy Trinity, right, be methodical,
play clean, take care of the ball. For the most part,
they kind of did that. Yes, they had the interception,
but they've had some deep plays. They've had some deep
opportunities just didn't work out for them. Defensively, now, the
second level has played pretty huge. Obviously, the comb had
that really long run, but they for the most they
(01:13:00):
have stopped the power run. Looking over to McComb, here's
a telling thing offensively, all right, in defensively play discipline football.
I wrote that down and they have not. But you
know what, they bend, but they don't break. And we
should be in twenty eight to six right now, and
Macomb has stood hard on the defense. They have capitalized
(01:13:25):
when they need it, and we are still in a
ball game fourteen to six?
Speaker 1 (01:13:29):
Wow, how about that? Yes, So it could be tight
down towards the end, but at least for our intent teams,
Mohawk is the one that does have the lead at
this point. Our other inten teams in the playoffs are
to railing, but it's not insurmountable deficits that they face.
So maybe one or more we'll come back. We'll have
to see.
Speaker 2 (01:13:49):
Yeah, and really, yeah, being fourteen to six, when we
talked a little bit about this at half time and
to some other guys around us, you know, if you're
an underdog, what do you need you need to be
sticking around, right you need to be sticking around at
some point late in the game.
Speaker 1 (01:14:04):
Right now, it's a very doable game if you're Macomb,
and if you're Mohawk, you've had two separate chances to
put the foot on their throat and curb stop them,
and you just kind of let us slip away. And
so that's what.
Speaker 2 (01:14:21):
McComb needs in order to stick around. And they just
keep sticking around and sticking around. Bad things happen on accident,
and it could be a completely different game, and it
could silence this crowd and kind of take them out,
take them around, out of the games, take away the
home field advantage. So it is imperative for Mohawk to
come out here and score. I don't want to say,
(01:14:42):
oh it's a it's a game breaker, but Mohawk has
to come out and do something offensively and score. If
Field Gold touchdown, they've got to do something to maintain
the dominance of the game and maintain moments.
Speaker 1 (01:14:55):
Make that statement absolutely, yeah, Because the more the Panthers
hang around more conference yeah yep, oh my goodness, we
shall see you. We'll we'll just take one more break
and we'll come back. We'll get ready for some more
football here at Warrior Field again. At the half it
is Mohawk fourteen Macomb six. Is a return agency halftime
(01:15:18):
show winding down here, I'm Magic ninety five to nine
at die Heart Radio as we bring you back prigh
school football Magic at ninety five nine as our returnt
agency half time show is winding down. At the half,
it is a Mohawk at home leading at fourteen two
six on Macomb. So it's a tough battle and we'll
(01:15:40):
see what happens. But as you've been noting Scott Mohawk
getting the ball to start off in the second.
Speaker 2 (01:15:46):
Half, Mohawk has to do something to start this half,
and I've kind of mentioned it earlier, but you almost
just feel that where they had two opportunities and they
let them slip away, and mccomb's hanging around more confident.
You almost feel like, you know, if you're if you
have a little big you have a little brother, big
brother fight, then your little brother keeps bobbing and weaving
(01:16:09):
and you can't land a punch. Well, eventually little brother,
all that happens. You know he's low the ground if
he takes your feet out and all of a sudden you're.
Speaker 1 (01:16:15):
In big trouble.
Speaker 2 (01:16:17):
So big brother here, uh, you know, offensively and everything else,
they really have to kind of lay down the bustard
and and take it to them and kind of just
get that feeling and and and you know, crowd, you
know there they've been in it, but they're kind of
there's an uneasiness, there's an energy where it's like, man,
are we We're gonna pull this off. So it's it's
(01:16:38):
going to be interesting. And you know we've had We've
had a Hayman uh make some great returns and stuff. Yeah,
but this is gonna be an easy opportunity for the
returners of Mohawk to potentially make a game breaking play
off the kickoff. I'm interested to see the kickoff take
place and how that happens, but this is the opportunity
(01:16:58):
for Mohawk to really take off a kickoff return.
Speaker 1 (01:17:01):
For the touchdowns. Number two agreed on that that would
be something else Panther's number nine, Luke Kern.
Speaker 2 (01:17:16):
Because that would say, oh, well, we stopped them, you
know when they had offense, but I mean we didn't
stop them on special teams. That would be mentally that'd
be devastating.
Speaker 1 (01:17:25):
So we'll see what happens with this cap. Okay, yes, indeed,
so the players are back out there on the field
and we're ready to get things starting for the second
half of play fourteen to six. Is the Mohawk lea
the Warriors to get the ball back. The freshman Luke
Kern ready for the Ohouse University had mary and kickoff
(01:17:45):
four of the panthers and here he comes, and he
swings through with the right foot and it's high up
in the air and caught at the twenty yard line.
Kate Haman twenty five thirty and then tackled right near
to thirty five yard line. The return there by Trees Bryan.
Speaker 2 (01:18:02):
Tackle there, But a nice job by McCombe. They all
stay in their lanes. Didn't really give Mohawk a chance
to set up return arc. But nice job again by
McComb It's weird. They've played discipline but undisciplined at times,
and but they've played discipline when it matters the most
on defense.
Speaker 1 (01:18:22):
So uh, but Mohawks got to move the ball down
the field right here. Kirk Hey could really use an
opportunity to make us state. But that is for sure,
all right, Let's see first down at ten thirty five
yard line, a hulk of the ball, first drive of
the third quarter, leading at fourteen to two six. So
it is both no, actually Hayman who takes a direct
snap a make your part across the thirty five forty
(01:18:44):
yard line, Hene Hayman and tackled around the forty five
yard line. That tackled there by uh kerr Kern, So
Kern getting involved? Did they spotted where did they spot?
A short, sure yard short? Okay, Hayman with the run
to the right.
Speaker 2 (01:19:00):
Uh, and this creates a second and short I would
look for some sort of Uh, I'm not trick play,
but I would look for a play action play right here.
You've got the yards. But then again you got to say, well, hey,
we haven't done well in.
Speaker 1 (01:19:13):
Short yardage situations. So we get the first down. So
there's some options here from Milwauk second down and one
from the forty four yard line. Mohackey in our own
territory snap back, Bogner looks to put up in the
air and the pass looking for hay Man, Well, don't
want against the bright and the fly comes out.
Speaker 2 (01:19:28):
Yeah didn't even proceed. Yeah, didn't even turn around.
Speaker 1 (01:19:33):
Against Bright formcom.
Speaker 2 (01:19:36):
Yeah, he's a past interference called. But hey, if I
were him, I'd be grabbing.
Speaker 1 (01:19:44):
Automatic.
Speaker 2 (01:19:45):
So that's a very That's actually a great play because
if he did not do that, that was going to
be six. So that's actually smart defensive play. Just eat
the fifteen yards move.
Speaker 1 (01:19:56):
On, Hey, knee. Bright is a senior and a BVC
Honorable Mentioned plaguer, but he's got a tough task trying
to tej and Kane Hay until nice first and ten
forty one yard line or the Mohawk warders at Matthew
Towacker a first down or you're leading in fourteen two six.
Bogner from the gun, takes the chest ice snap, works
(01:20:17):
his way to the right side, finds it out into
the thirty till the twenty five twenty sent to tackle
fifteen and then buck him at the ten s talks
on the bounds. I think it was Current who hit
him at the last moment. Oh my gosh.
Speaker 9 (01:20:29):
Yeah, she chef was trying to take this man uh
and push it to the Warriors, allowing that space and uh,
the defender just went right around him and pushed and
forced him to go out of bound.
Speaker 1 (01:20:44):
So great job.
Speaker 2 (01:20:47):
Rebounding by e break because that that was he made
that play, so nice job by him recovering from that
foul that he just committed to flavor.
Speaker 1 (01:20:54):
Before first and ten, fourteen yard line in the red
zel Mohawk trying to add to all fourteen to six
lead early in the third quarter, snap backed up, Bogner
heads serve to the left side, gets a block from
Kadan Bitsch, Bogner runs over a tackler and then he
gets stopped around this six. Oh goodness, Ben Bogner. He
looks like he is number in times coming out of
the half time and he got a little bit of
(01:21:16):
shot of courage.
Speaker 2 (01:21:16):
They're going in there a halftime, but also a great
block there by Caden bish creating that space, knocked him's
hoss player back about two three yards, creating a plentiful
space for Bogner to continue to run forward and fall forward.
Speaker 1 (01:21:30):
Now we have second and short.
Speaker 2 (01:21:31):
But don't worry Kirk okay because McComb they're up to
the task and they've shown that tonight.
Speaker 1 (01:21:36):
So Mohawk is in. It's not necessarily a comfortable situation.
Second and three from the seven, Bogner high snaff and
solve Kayden, Yeah, yeah, Kate and bish and yeah, running
into a gang of tacklers. Really no room.
Speaker 2 (01:21:53):
Yep, it's gonna be third and short. Yeah it didn't
didn't really didn't run gain anything, just just a little
bit harder too nothing.
Speaker 1 (01:22:01):
So here we are. You gotta do something here and
you're new.
Speaker 4 (01:22:06):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (01:22:06):
If they stop here, you gotta start saying, Okay, this
is close enough. Do we kick that field goal and
try and get a two score game? Hey, here we are,
by the way, I remember.
Speaker 1 (01:22:16):
What I said. They should have gone for two and
make it. I remember from the six, all right, right,
backed up of nerve. He also run up the middle
one dust and he's got some room the blockers in
front of him. Matthews, hondagger, first down, just as you've
known it. There lives. It was about to be first
of goal. But the problem is again, you know, because
(01:22:40):
Tom has strong.
Speaker 2 (01:22:41):
If you are a mohawk right now, shut play the game.
Play the game how you should be clean, be precise,
put the ball in the end zone.
Speaker 1 (01:22:52):
And they got to reset them. I guess it's changing
the time. Yeah, they said, I don't know why they
I don't know I know either. Well, first of goal
from no one. Yeah, Mohawk Warriors up fourteen to six.
Trying to go up another touchdown. Bogner's a snap finds
(01:23:16):
his bluckers. All man, just see did he get enough
trying to die for He's got it that touchdown. He
had to working with the legs a little bit. I
was able to get the one yard store the intent
offensive player to hear poked her. I'd tell you as
soon as as soon as the official put his arms
in the air, four or five moms were just like yes,
(01:23:38):
It's like, oh man, they were just relieved. There's a
feeling of relief in that, you know, absolutely touchdown brought
to you by the Central Hoile Farmers snap.
Speaker 2 (01:23:50):
That is exactly what Mohawk needed.
Speaker 1 (01:23:52):
To do to the room. Just punched that through, all right,
even with the point after no didn't get that. It
is no good though it is a fourteen point Wilson
Tires scoreboard, twenty to six. Mohawk up. On visiting Maccombe and.
Speaker 2 (01:24:13):
McComb has shown that they their kicking game is not
exactly exactly reliable. They're so not necessarily the worst thing
in the would have missed that X point. Obviously you
do want that, but uh not the end of the world,
still up fourteen. But that is exactly what uh Mohawk
had to do. They showed that they're capable, right, It
shows that they are physical, that.
Speaker 1 (01:24:35):
They are coming up ready to play, trying to make
this a business trip, and they were just not gonna play.
McComb just letting thready to go in this third quarter
to six, Mohawk leeds MacComb for high school football Game
of the Week. I'm Matgic ninety five nine at iHeartRadio
right five shoot high school Football Magic ninety five and nine.
(01:24:57):
We bring you back to Mohawk twenty two six. This
is the Bullhawk lead after one yard touchdown run by
the quarterback Ben Bogner. So we won't get a the
Ohouse or University at Mary and kicked off from Brex
and fresh to the Bullhawk Warriors from the forty and
this one right at the twenty nine and we get
a return across the forty yard line.
Speaker 2 (01:25:21):
Yeah, great job, great returner for McComb.
Speaker 1 (01:25:24):
Yeah, so Heller at that time, Heller the return catch.
Speaker 2 (01:25:27):
On a deep thirty on a twenty nine here, you know,
way up to the.
Speaker 1 (01:25:31):
Five married Warriors. Rather, that's it.
Speaker 2 (01:25:35):
That's a great return for McComb. Kind of gives them
a good field position if they're gonna do their game.
But again, we have not seen really any vertical threat,
necessarily through the air. So if the Comb's gonna come back,
they're gonna have to do it by controlling the clock
and playing solid defense.
Speaker 1 (01:25:49):
First, Ad ten, forty four yard line snap his back
hand off to Shop nice running alley up the middle
before you gets slung down to the turf five Hayman.
The other tacklers, I saw Karen over there and Matthews
on Ager first towel.
Speaker 2 (01:26:07):
Shoot, just dragging right up the middle, keeping his head down.
They're running, They're gonna go quickly.
Speaker 1 (01:26:12):
First at ten from the forty four snap back, the
raider handing it off and uh see uh patreesy in there.
That makes the stuff, along with Logan pipinger of shoop
just a half back kind of right there, just going
up b gap.
Speaker 2 (01:26:30):
Nothing super fancy following blockers, but that's effective, and that's quick,
and they are keeping the ball in the move.
Speaker 1 (01:26:37):
They recognize that they have to do something quickly too.
Second down and six from the forty yard line snap back,
Strader takes it himself runs to the right side trying
to find a hole and stopped across the thirty five
yard line. They got it first down. Logan Hmminger with
the tackle. Yep, you're right, they are moving this dicks
(01:26:58):
Matthews on agra. It is as is.
Speaker 2 (01:27:03):
As much as quick as you can have a multi
majority running offense.
Speaker 1 (01:27:08):
Move Kirk yeah, first into thirty four yard line. Impacs,
Raider takes it himself, runs and to see Kay and
Fish in there. Locate Himminger as well for the Mohawk
Warriors right with the thirty four yard line. Nice shot
by the.
Speaker 2 (01:27:24):
Nose guard there for Mohawk pushing his man clear back
and kind of hitting Schrodern. Not having the space to
move and run and that kind of really stemied his
ability to get out to the space and ate a
nice little tackle right after that.
Speaker 1 (01:27:40):
So almost as good as nothing. So second and ten
from the thirty four yard line was seven eighteen to
go hitting the third quarter, treating good. Twenty two to
six is my coal. That's Mohawk hit the corner back.
It's raider front of a gun, has a helmet and
eye snap takes a hand off the shoop, runs the
left side and cuts the other way. But there's a
whole bitch trezy down. I'll tell you what.
Speaker 2 (01:28:03):
Man look at him in the in the in the
group of defenders, you might go, there's no way. But man,
that kid, he just has a motor.
Speaker 1 (01:28:13):
Hey. And so here we go.
Speaker 2 (01:28:16):
It's third and long. And if you're Macomb, you're in
four down. You're in four down territory.
Speaker 1 (01:28:21):
It would seem so third and nine from the thirty
three yard lines that bag. Here we go with Raider
on the run on the right side. Oh, he finds
some daylight to the right side and springs forward and
it depends on the spot. Yeah, that's gotta be close.
It looks like he is. That's a twenty six yard line.
Speaker 2 (01:28:37):
All right, they may they may measure, Let me measure this.
Speaker 1 (01:28:44):
It would seem to me that a measurement is in
the order. But but he ran right into stick so too.
So they did see it, right, it's likely did you
get there or not? Yeah, if it's one was right there. Yes,
they're just ruling it. Uh four and we may be
getting a time out, question of credit union time out
(01:29:04):
apparently on an injury. We got Hayman run. Yeah, he's
walking very slowly. Yeah, back toward his bench area. He's
talking to the Mohawk letic trainer entice it up on that.
So Schrader must have stepped out of bounce because they're
(01:29:24):
keeping it fourth and two. But the most important part
of that play, of course is uh Caane Hayman absolutely
how he's doing and how he's gonna feel.
Speaker 2 (01:29:33):
Just that that changes the dynamics of everything you run offensively.
So yeah, hopefully it's uh maybe just got a little
dinged up and he's gonna enter the game again.
Speaker 1 (01:29:47):
Fourth and two, thirty six yard line. Oh, there's a
movement on the line that if not induced, it's an encroachment. Yep.
And it's an encroachment yep. You first out Wow, five
hours that I can refers down the comb drive continue
to the twenty one yard line.
Speaker 2 (01:30:09):
Well, you know, Mohawks gonna have to do something here
to make a stop. They they've got to make a stop.
Speaker 1 (01:30:16):
Here because twenty one. Yep, they're running with this time. Man.
He takes a positive across the twenty yard high hold again.
Speaker 2 (01:30:27):
It keeps sticking around that little brother keeps getting little
jabs on big brother kick just to over six minutes left, boy,
you know you kind of again feel that uneasiness settling
in You're mohawk because man, come, I'm just ruining the ball.
Speaker 1 (01:30:43):
Second and seven from the seventeen yard line, snap backs
raider and the left side and uh the carry Symber
four Romero. Yeah, yeah, full back dive.
Speaker 2 (01:30:59):
Nothing fancy, just a full back dive to get two
or three yards to keep the ball moving forward, put
yourself in a better position for the next down. Third
and five, because you know everything's going to be four
down from here.
Speaker 1 (01:31:11):
Yeah, they're just going through. They're just trying to get
to keep positive yards. Third and four from the fifteen
yard line in the red zone. Snap his back, straighter,
runs right side, gets away from right hard, gets away
from another tack and Traders stopped right around the ten
yard line. That looks good here for us, thought, yep.
(01:31:34):
The personal foul Warriors had another one another. They had
one for a personal foul, and I think they're gonna
get uh. Coach Daniel for Yeah said something right, Oh
my gosh, we get it here we are, Kirk Wow.
Speaker 2 (01:31:57):
Maccombe was shooting themselves in the foot first half with
all the penalties and it's been Mohawks turn at that.
Speaker 1 (01:32:06):
Oh gosh, god, they keeps the Yeah we see coach Danuey. Yeah,
he appears to be a livid on the sideline speaking
to one of the game officials. You think he's inviting
him sporker. Not at the moment that may come. Alift.
Repentance is a real thing, indeed, Oh my god. Well,
(01:32:31):
first and gold. Macomb's got the ball at the mohawk too.
Trailer gets twenty to six with five twenty five to
go on a.
Speaker 2 (01:32:37):
Herd well and they've got to wait for the umpire.
Speaker 1 (01:32:40):
To Yeah, they got to pick up the flags.
Speaker 2 (01:32:42):
Has to pick up his flag.
Speaker 1 (01:32:44):
Can't keep them down the air. Come on, what are
you doing? The ain't no better than that.
Speaker 2 (01:32:49):
But you've given them this first and goal, half and
half again, and now it's first first.
Speaker 1 (01:32:54):
Down on the two from the two. Here we go
staffing bac Spirador hands it off to shoot, bounce to
the right side, slip through some ticklers and he's to
carry right short. Oh yeah, he.
Speaker 2 (01:33:06):
Spun around, you know, but you feel like if you
feel like it almost kind of prolongs inevitable.
Speaker 1 (01:33:16):
But yeah, yeah, one yard So a second goal from
the one. Here's Rader under center. He goes for the
sneak play. He tries to run nothing, but the Mohawk
Warriors till there they're gonna make him to do as
they tried to quarterback sneak with a little bush push
and they got the nose. They just blew it up.
(01:33:38):
It just didn't go anywhere. Yes, the Mohak Warriors were
ready for that, okay psychologically. So now it's back on
the two. This makes a long one. This makes a
it's a big play right here, Kirk third goal.
Speaker 5 (01:33:51):
But pick.
Speaker 1 (01:33:54):
Gets into the let's say, here's where they got to
count it. But it just was a marker, so it
is gonna be a car. So they drool it. The
touchdown a two yarder for Grady Trader.
Speaker 2 (01:34:10):
Oh man, that was almost disastrous.
Speaker 1 (01:34:14):
Oh my gosh. Yes, like what happened he was is
like he tried to turn around and and he dropped
it and then he ended up picking up without putting
a knee down. Oh just took it right in. Boy.
So there's Luke Kern from the point after with the
right foot it is up. It splitz the upright. So
that was a successful seven point dry for McCombs. Wilson
(01:34:38):
Tyres scoreboard. It his Mohawk twenty and McComb thirty four
nineteen to go in the third quarter for this second
round playoff game. So better with this or Matthews how
the actor Game of the Week. I met a ninety
five to nine in iHeartRadio High School Football Magic ninety
five nine. Back here in Sycamore, Mohawk Warriors lead has
(01:34:59):
been trimmed by having is twenty to thirteen as we
got a two yard touchdown Ruins by the pass the
mcomb Panthers greedy raider and he almost lost the ball
on that play, but they will pick it up and
took it in.
Speaker 2 (01:35:14):
You know, Like I said we were talking earlier. In
the first half of that doctor delivered the baby and
it just slips all over the place him.
Speaker 1 (01:35:20):
He almost fell a victim of that.
Speaker 2 (01:35:21):
But you know, first half was a was a is
a game of first in long plays, I should say
the first half. This has been the game of consistency
in the second half.
Speaker 1 (01:35:32):
Return here for Caleb Fish on this LSU had Mary
kick off. Oh he breaks loose and it goes to
the left side midfield. He cuts the time forty five
yard Live first Special Teams Player of the year in
the end, Caleb Fish, I can't sell what he can't do.
Why would you kick him the poll?
Speaker 2 (01:35:51):
Hey, listen, we talked about special teams and it's just
a matter of when, not if. And I thought he
was gonna try and get out the arm tap, but
they finally drug them down around the forty five yard line.
But man, he's he was able to slip through and
he found a lamee that and McCombe just avoided a
complete disaster right there.
Speaker 1 (01:36:12):
Fantastic return for Caleb Bish. But yes, you're right, at
least the Panthers did prevent a touchdown there. So first,
the ten forty four yard line in my comb territory
across midfield has a quarterback Bugner has a snap. He
looks run into the right side Caden Bitsch with a block.
They had as this route with them with another block.
It's across the thirty five yard line before being shoved
out of bounds of sea. But it's a good one. Yes,
(01:36:35):
it looks like he does have the bat first down.
Speaker 2 (01:36:39):
Nice blocks by Bish and Woodland on the right hand side.
The quarterback keep to the right and nice blocks setting
up that nice run, and that's gonna get you that
first down, and that's what you want to see. Positive play,
keeping their heads. They've had a couple of times where
you just got to keep your head.
Speaker 1 (01:36:57):
Do and execute. Yes, sir, all right. Versus ten, thirty
four yard line mohawk with the ball, third quarter, trying
to add to the touchdown, leads snap back to Bogner
helmet High runs to the right side. He knows he's
gonna get hits and does what he hits back across
the thirty yard high stopped dead. It looks like they're
marking at the twenty nine quarterback. Quarterback, Soon keep you
(01:37:20):
the right right, begin four positive.
Speaker 2 (01:37:24):
Words, giving yourself more open options and playing back in
second and five second reasonable, I would look for some
sort of I could almost kind of sense some sort
of screenplay or short pass play in the flats or
something could be happening or could be setting.
Speaker 1 (01:37:40):
Up second and five from the twenty nine yard line
in McComb territory, mohawk with the ball leading at twenty
to thirteen, three twenty four to go in the third
Staff is back to Bogner, hands it off Cadan Bush
and runs into a bottleneck and then pushed back. Kate
you're the twenty eight yards line, so maybe a gain
of one right there for Cayden. Yeah, super fancy.
Speaker 2 (01:38:01):
If you know it again, I would like to see
give the ball to Haymond get he's such a playmaker.
If you can give that kid a rout, let him
take the ball. But here we are third down.
Speaker 1 (01:38:14):
One turn for twenty eight yard line, mohawk with the ball,
under three minutes to play in the third quarter and
leading at twenty to thirteen. As Bugner appears to be
communicating with the sideline, didn't return to the pel has
the staff rolls to the left under some pressure. Here
throws a pass. Oh, it's kicked off. Macomb's got the ball.
(01:38:36):
It looked like it might be Luke Kern as he
is dripping back. Wow.
Speaker 2 (01:38:41):
Yeah, they're looking for Bish rolling out to that.
Speaker 1 (01:38:44):
No, it's Hipperly. Yeah I thought it was Kern. No,
it's actually Hipperly.
Speaker 2 (01:38:50):
Look looking for looking for Bish coming back in the
short flats and he just threw the ball right to
the defender. But that's the danger you kind of you
as a defense you sense and you know that's gonna
happen on third down. That's the play that need to
happen on second down.
Speaker 1 (01:39:07):
So Donovan Hepberley coming up with the deer Optometry group
turnover for McComb in business first to ten twenty nine
yard line. Then they go right back to the ground
to the right side, and the Warriors are able to
bring down the quarterback Grady Charader with two twenty three
and counting down in this third quarter. Wow, turn events.
Speaker 2 (01:39:27):
Status quo quarterback to the right and they're just gonna
run their game and they control the cop that's.
Speaker 1 (01:39:33):
What they do. They lengthen the game to their standard forward.
Speaker 2 (01:39:35):
So yeah, a little over two minutes, they're only chasing
seven and again you kind of feel some momentum swinging
really heavy back into Lacomb's territory.
Speaker 1 (01:39:44):
That in the name from the thirty one yard line
down the touchdown to come with the ball handing it
up right down the middle shop and braiding shoop stopped
at the thirty six yard line. It appears maybe the
thirty seven they spot number twosh.
Speaker 2 (01:39:59):
Made it great tackle finishing and uh coach Daniel kind
of talking to the official's yes he is well talking
is an understatement.
Speaker 1 (01:40:09):
Yeah, they went the hack third three even thirty six yep,
hand it off again, shop spinning around his brighton stopped
right there at the forty yard line. He's able to
come up with that Matthews hotager first down on the
four yard game for my coat.
Speaker 2 (01:40:24):
Then there's nothing more frustrating knowing they're coming at you
and it's going to be the same exact play over
and over and they just keep getting three to five
yards every time. So at some point, uh, do you
try something different? Maybe in steff slant, maybe try stunt
something or blitz up the middle, do something to try
and break up this.
Speaker 1 (01:40:43):
Momentum first and ten, forty yard line, but coming with
the ball in their own territories, having back, this raider
runs to the right side. He's a strong runner and
he makes it near midfield. Looks like he was sort
of buner on the tackle.
Speaker 2 (01:40:55):
Yards just sure the fifty bring up the first time,
but it's gonna make second short and we're under a
minute and the clock is running and they are having
their way again. Mohawks just playing very passive. They're they're
playing very passive defense, and maybe they're afraid of making
a mistake.
Speaker 1 (01:41:12):
I don't know. Second two, forty eight yard line, down seven,
Sepedectors raider and he's able to score it across midfield.
He's got enough. Matthews ndak were a first down with
thirty five seconds left in the third quarter, down twenty
to thirteen to here at weird.
Speaker 2 (01:41:27):
Maybe sometimes you just got to go and try and
make a play. And Mohawks might be thinking, are we
going to just try and make a play?
Speaker 1 (01:41:34):
Blitz your corners? They're not passing darts ten forty nine
row across midfields. That becks Rader. He's feeling the ears
run to the right side as Grady Trader stops at
the forty sixty yards line.
Speaker 2 (01:41:47):
Yep, just a quick three quarterback in the middle of
the yards. So again we're seeing that offensive line for McCain.
They just they've been dominating the second half. That's really
the name of the game.
Speaker 1 (01:42:01):
And we are down to the final quarter of this
play as the third combs to an end. Wow, that's quick.
It was fast or was the tire scoreboard? It's BULLHOWK
twenty and McComb thirteen moving back from the start of
the fourth corner. So gotter wit us from Matthews hant
acherat Game of the Week on Magic ninety five to
nine and Diheart Radio highs hold Football Magic ninety five nine.
(01:42:27):
As we start off the fourth corner here as a
Bowlog Warriors with a twenty to thirteen lead on the
Macomb Panthers Macomb with the ball, second down six forty
six yard line, sat back here where you get the
flags from her get under truck by old trees across
the forty five yard line. But we got the penalty
flag before the tack hole. Yeah, it looks like you
leave the motion there. Big flag the illegal shift on
(01:42:51):
the poph Yeah, yeah, there we go.
Speaker 2 (01:42:52):
Yeah shift yep. So that's a big flag. I know
it's a it's a none. It's of overstated. That creates
Now you're behind a chain second and long. You know,
you had some momentum once again, penalties have just kind
of killed it. They did in the first half.
Speaker 1 (01:43:13):
But this is a disappointing game. You can't have that,
no doubt. And both of these coaches are tremendous coaches.
They drill these things, but when you get out under
the lights and this type of pressure environment, they can happen.
Second down eleven forty nine yard line of code with
the ball, start on to fourth quarter, trail and got
a touchdown. Snap back to us. Rader heads over to
the left side does and he has stopped around seventh years. Yeah,
(01:43:40):
great tackle there.
Speaker 2 (01:43:41):
Yeah, just having to step in there and and bring
him down, creating and keeping third and long. So this
they're going to go for on fourth down, you would presume,
you would presume.
Speaker 1 (01:43:55):
I don't know, but this is this is a big play.
Speaker 2 (01:43:58):
You can make it fourth and short. You're definitely going
for it. But if you don't get anything and it's
fourth and seven, you might think about punting. Your defense
is done pretty well.
Speaker 1 (01:44:08):
Third and seven, forty six yard line. Again, let's see,
let's look, they're gonna be McComb took the time out
of the Credit Union time out called by my Combe.
Speaker 2 (01:44:21):
They want to talk about they know this too. This uh,
this could be the biggest play of the game so
far because it's gonna dictate everything that happens in the
play after. So they want to make sure they get
out here and set this up. They want to make
sure it's Chris no penalties, nothing stupid, nothing that's going
to be shooting themselves in the foot. I would not
(01:44:42):
be surprised if you see some sort of quarterback keep
again with a sidecar shoe, making some sort of block
and having some lead blockers, and they need to get
four or five yards here. They just need to get
four or five yards to keep the ball moving and
put them in a fourth and short.
Speaker 1 (01:45:00):
Well, they certainly have a head coach who understands these situations.
Chris Algae in his twenty seventh season leading this program,
and of course he has a state championship to his
credit as well from twenty eighteen. And it seems that
his teams are always in the mix. And when needs
two programs face fourteen years ago, yeah, Chris Algie's Wellcombe
(01:45:21):
Panthers won the game in the playoffs became though this
time trails. Let's see the quarterback has a snap here,
throw down the step foury six yard line. Oh, and
it gets away to dump it down and in complete
down the field looking for.
Speaker 3 (01:45:36):
Was so close.
Speaker 1 (01:45:39):
It was very close call. And as Susie through the ball.
Speaker 2 (01:45:46):
Right Susan through it, he looked down and he's like,
was that was I still equal?
Speaker 1 (01:45:51):
Yeah? So n he knew he was real close to that.
But you could see that uncomfortability with making some sort
of shows. It's seven from the forty six yard line.
As we're getting in a punt from a list like Gibbs,
it's up in the air. Yeah, this one has more
of the hang time and it is stops right around
(01:46:11):
the ball.
Speaker 2 (01:46:14):
But that what the play shows Kirk that they do
not feel comfortable running that kind of stuff and it
puts them out of sorts. That's out of their element.
So you are Mohawk right now you go down there
and score, the game is effectively done because now you're
forcing McComb to try.
Speaker 1 (01:46:32):
And give as well. That's not what they do. They
that's not there, not their game.
Speaker 2 (01:46:39):
And it's not like they're doing this against a really
bad team. They're they're doing against a really good defense.
So if Mohawk goes down there and scores, it could
be the nail of the.
Speaker 1 (01:46:49):
Coff first and ten thirteen yard line. Mohawk with the
ball up a touchdown here in this fourth quarter snap
is back to Bogner, heads towards the right side, spins
away from one defender and then scoots deer the sixteen
yard tie so pick up a three yards there for
that is where he stops.
Speaker 2 (01:47:07):
Yeah, macombe really a big pinch in their ends. Very
well on the line, and that creates some havoc for offenses.
And you see right there where uh Bogner could have
made a nice run, but that pinch on the ends
really kind of encompasses and circles the offense hard to
get to move forward.
Speaker 1 (01:47:26):
Under ten minutes now brings on second down and seven
and sixteen yard line. Mohauk with the ball in our
own territory nine to fifty one to go in the fourth,
leading to mind a touchdown snap us back helming high,
the Bogner hands it off the Cadan Bisch the left
side and Gonzalez is able to wrap him up and
bring him down and to get some help from his mates.
But a good play by taking Gonsales.
Speaker 2 (01:47:48):
Gonzalez again, he's on that end, pitching that end, and
that just makes it really difficult.
Speaker 1 (01:47:56):
Man Octavian Gonzalez.
Speaker 2 (01:47:58):
You know he is fourth in the conference with interceptions,
but man rat tackle right there.
Speaker 1 (01:48:04):
He could play, that's for sure. He's all around. He's
all over. Third to nine, fourteen yard line. Mohawk Warriors
up the touchdown in this fourth corner, trying to advance
to the regional semifinal. Bogner has a staff rolls to
the right, the rolls in on the run and not
able to get it into the hands of Caleb.
Speaker 9 (01:48:24):
Yard.
Speaker 1 (01:48:25):
That's a that's a hard row to me.
Speaker 2 (01:48:27):
Now moving on the run, I thought he had a
good chance that just couldn't bring it in. But has
a very short lived possession.
Speaker 1 (01:48:37):
It was very shortly, did not take much time off
that clock. So mccomb's gotta be pleased with that.
Speaker 2 (01:48:45):
We we might be into some bonus football, Kirk, that
would be interesting.
Speaker 1 (01:48:51):
We have not had that this season. Strap it in
fourth than nine and we get the punt here from
being both it's when bouncing across the forty five yard
at all and then two bounce. Yeah, and they just
decided to get out away of that one. Yeah, nothing
like gaining another ten yards on a bounce. Roady Gallagher
looked like he had a notion initially and then better
(01:49:14):
if it said, Okay, we just want to keep the possession.
Speaker 2 (01:49:16):
Yeah, yeah, it can be tempting, but you squeeze in
there and you think I'm going to pick this up
and run. Now we've seen the ball squib a little
bit tonight, so probably good move.
Speaker 1 (01:49:27):
Just let it happen. Yeah, if you're not comfortable, that's right.
The stakes are so high. Yeah, don't mess around, that's right.
Speaker 2 (01:49:32):
Because you know what happened you you go or the
sideline if you mess up.
Speaker 1 (01:49:36):
Ooh yeah, it's you don't want that comfortsation. First and ten,
forty three yard line. Macomb with the ball in our
own territory trail to get twenty to thirteen nine on
one to go on the fourth sraighter run, the shotgun
snap takes a hand off to shoot straighter run forty
five midfield forty five the other way, and then tackle
here to forty yard line by banker. We do get
(01:49:56):
a penalty flag forty eight yard line the other way.
Let's say it's like a hold, Oh my goodness, Oh
that's brutal for my colt. The Panthers. Such a nice
run right there, and it is coming back.
Speaker 2 (01:50:10):
That's effectively a twenty five yard penalty, right right. You
lose a fifteen yard run and you you lose ten yards.
That's twenty five yard penalty.
Speaker 1 (01:50:20):
Wow, wolf exactly. Will still.
Speaker 2 (01:50:26):
Again listen, I'm not saying that Mohawks played bad defense
at all, but McComb just shoots.
Speaker 1 (01:50:35):
Himself from the foot. Yeah, that's that's another big mistake.
Speaker 2 (01:50:38):
I understand what the running offense, you're gonna have holds
and stuff.
Speaker 1 (01:50:41):
Like that, but there's some things that you just can't.
For first, fifteen thirty eight yard line, raiders staff to
eat bright on hanging away that Mason Ship, pull hold
on to it right down trying to get the ball. Wow,
good play by Ship. You run that play three times
night and every time Mohawk has just been on it
(01:51:03):
and they have been great one on one tackles.
Speaker 2 (01:51:06):
Again, So what do you do now if you have
to pass? If you're McComb, you haven't thrown in a
vertical threat. Your throws to the flats aren't really doing anything.
You've had a couple of kind of quasi screens that
have been okay, but you know it all has to
come on the ground and that makes it easy for Mohawk.
Speaker 1 (01:51:25):
Second down in sixteen seven yard line, stamp backed us
right earth and the back pedal and then throws it
shows the arm who and it's ducked off by the
right hand by Ship. Defensively, Mohawk has hated knee bright
the target.
Speaker 2 (01:51:42):
That is not strong, that hung in the air if
it were duck hunt. If there were a duck hunt.
They're shooting at that TV fifteen times pretty much. Yeah,
there's a dog that's gonna come up out of that
grass and laugh at us. But that should have been
picked off, oh god, but it hung up in the air,
so it made it hard for the safety trying to
make a play.
Speaker 1 (01:52:03):
Third and sixteen thirty seven new yard line. Macombe Baily
get third twenty to thirteen underade to play. In the fourth,
Trader takes a shotgun, snap back pedals again, has protection
throws it over the middle of this time and this
one they complete the get looking for epoy and this
time it's Caleb bisch It covered four lawyers. Kind of
unusual there.
Speaker 2 (01:52:23):
They haven't really made any vertical that were really threatening
all game and then they do bang bang bang, right,
so maybe they're trying to recharacterize themselves or trying to catch.
Speaker 1 (01:52:37):
Them off guard. But something ready. Mohawk is ready for that.
So seven forty eight to go in the fourth, we
get the fourth at sixteen and Gibbs with the punt
and it's across the thirty five and stopped right there
at the thirty four.
Speaker 2 (01:52:56):
Part of it is Mohawk they have such great play
makers themselves. They play against them defensively all day. So
anything that McComb has to offer through a passing aerial attack,
it's not Andre rising out there.
Speaker 1 (01:53:11):
You know, the Houston Tears aren't running on the Okay,
here it go. So it's it's just there. It's easy
to defend.
Speaker 2 (01:53:17):
So if you are Mohawk right now, if you can
just control the ball, control the clock, get three or
four first downs and keep that clock moving.
Speaker 1 (01:53:27):
First and ten from the thirty five yard line, Mohawk
with the ball leading, get twenty to thirteen seven forty
one to co trying to get to a regional semifinal.
Snap us back to Ubogner and of course it down
the field looking or calebeth on the go color field. Hey,
Caleb Bits was like, no, I had it heads on hips, listen, listen.
(01:53:52):
Oh my gosh. They called that incomplete and I'm not
down on the field. Yeah. However, if they're that, it's not.
If anything else that's passing a ference. The corner ripped
both shoulders, It wasn't and he didn't even really look around.
That should have been effect. Should have been Passinger ference.
Speaker 2 (01:54:13):
Wowlden, Passinger ference at worse. That was not okay, not
not a good moment for officiating this.
Speaker 1 (01:54:20):
So second down at ten from the thirty five, see
Mohawk is able to respond to that. Buggner just scrambling
around uses a stiff farm trying to get from away
from our mirro, but there are too many panthers over
there to stop him. Right around the line of the
thirty five yard no game for sure.
Speaker 2 (01:54:37):
No gain but yards. And he keeps that clock running,
so it's not necessarily all bad. It's just not good,
just not good. But it was not bad. So it
could have been much much worse. But you gotta just
keep that click.
Speaker 1 (01:54:54):
That's why me.
Speaker 2 (01:54:54):
If you get three or four first downs here, you're
at worst you're gonna punt the ball and you're gonna
put Macomb in a deep fe old having to pass
with a little time.
Speaker 1 (01:55:02):
But they've got to get it first down here on
third and long man third and ten thirty five yard line.
All right, Let's see Boguner from the gun has the snap,
Hayden Bush with the block and Bogue nerve block cut
to the runs thirty thirty five, forty thirty five. Then
he gets up into there shop that's close. You had
(01:55:24):
to get to the forty. They did it. Matthew's how
to act for firstality. Indeed did it. What a great
play right there for Ben Bowner, the coach, get the
mohawk coach getting right in the sideline officials ear I
got in the sideline officials basically turn said.
Speaker 8 (01:55:39):
Shut up, I gave you first down, right, I don't
want to hear it there no flag comes up?
Speaker 1 (01:55:46):
Yeap? Okay, wow, wow, there's a flying field right there
at the sideline.
Speaker 2 (01:55:53):
Official told him to stop talking and he's kept chirping,
so they threw a flag and yeah, Coach Daniel not
happy about that.
Speaker 1 (01:56:04):
Officials are talking about it here. Let's see, well, you know,
we're six and a half minutes here.
Speaker 2 (01:56:11):
It's it's going to be a first down. It's just
is it gonna be the first first and ten in
the first and twenty five variety?
Speaker 1 (01:56:16):
Right?
Speaker 4 (01:56:17):
Right?
Speaker 2 (01:56:18):
So that that's what you wanted. You got your first down.
The clock will start when the whistle blows. They're still
talking about that.
Speaker 1 (01:56:29):
Yeah, this is a long conversation with the referee and
a couple of the officials here. Maybe he did.
Speaker 2 (01:56:34):
Invite him to Sunday School and they're talking about.
Speaker 1 (01:56:36):
It a good time talking. Oh wow, after all that.
Speaker 2 (01:56:45):
What happens when they go to Algae coach Algae on
Lacomb and yeah, sideline officials talking them about it.
Speaker 1 (01:56:51):
He hasn't shown necessarily disdain or anything. He just okay,
well wow, okay, Well it stays there. It's a forty
five yard line ns A ten. Someone shot a blank. Indeed,
just play football. Bogner went the snap for Mohawk, takes
it and runs it right side, makes it a positive game.
(01:57:15):
Two or three yards there for Ben as we head
towards six twenty five and remaining in this fourth quarter. So, yeah,
clock is a huge right down. Its huge right now.
Speaker 2 (01:57:24):
And again if you get one more first down, if
you get one more first down, then that means at
worst then you've got it right. You've got two more
plays here plus three, you got at least five plays,
and you have the opportunity if you have to punt
and bury him deep.
Speaker 1 (01:57:41):
That's that's really hard for m coombe over come second
down and eight from the forty seven yard line. Mohawk's
doing her own territory, leading it twenty to thirty. I
on that snap here we go Ben Bogner midfield as
she gets romploked by Trees Bran near the forty five
yard line. Let's see he's got it. Yeah, Matthew's first town.
(01:58:05):
The Warriors tackled the road over the first down line. Wow.
So yeah, that was.
Speaker 2 (01:58:13):
Not necessarily great tackling there by McComb and it's just
kind of rolling him over to a first down.
Speaker 1 (01:58:18):
Yeah, the middle of a linebacker Trace Barny, and yeah,
he's got a lot of experience.
Speaker 2 (01:58:22):
But uh, they're not taking any chips, they're not taking
any chances. Kirk, Right, I mean it's been pretty vanilla.
Here's last couple. Right, it's been Bogner taking care of
the ball.
Speaker 1 (01:58:32):
Keep it simple. First at ten forty five yard line
across midfield is hot snap back to Ben Bogner. Yes,
he is the one who's in control, just gonna run
it and take what he can get. But he's still
fighting them. Oh my gosh, it's going across the forty
They keep like that. I can't believe it. He's got
another Matthew's hot ager first own. What hey, we're another.
(01:58:57):
He seemed like he was stopped at the rights and
he just can't.
Speaker 2 (01:59:00):
Kirk remember when I said defensively, if they would blitz sometimes,
if you want to win, you got to go make plays.
Speaker 1 (01:59:07):
That was it right there.
Speaker 2 (01:59:09):
Waitner just willed himself and he said, I'm gonna take this.
He went made to play. When you in tight games
like this, someone's got to just want it, and he
wanted it right there. Huge playing from Mohawk first.
Speaker 1 (01:59:23):
At ten thirty five yard line in Macomb Territory, mohawk,
can they add to the one touchdown lead builder? He's
run the use of clock and grinding on the ground
and takes up to the thirty four game five.
Speaker 2 (01:59:33):
Yeah, you can kind of see McComb is there. I
think they're kind of starstruck right now and they're kind.
Speaker 1 (01:59:38):
Of freaking casta. Yeah they are. They are definitely shell
shocked a little bit right now. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:59:47):
I would, but you can't call time out because you
already burned one earlier.
Speaker 1 (01:59:52):
They marked it to thirty one, so it makes a
second down and six from the thirty one yard line
in a Comb territory Buhok with the ball up twenty
to thirteen in the regional quarterfinal with four o four
to go in the fourth looking to advance to play
we believe Columbus Grove. So they get the snap back
to Ben Bogner's been around. He stopped at the twenty
(02:00:15):
nine for pickup of two three forty seven remaining. Yeah
that's the thing. Yeah, this clock just continues to go
down here. So yeah, we'll see what Macomb does.
Speaker 2 (02:00:28):
At some point that point for the Warriors, Macomb's gonna
have to take a chance.
Speaker 1 (02:00:33):
They have to, they have to take a chance. Thirty
four from the twenty nine yard time This is the
There's two more plays that could determine who's gonna win
and lose this game. This is the first one. Bogner
waiting for the play clock to go down under ten seconds.
Let's see, He's got the snap chest high, goes to
the left side, hit first by shoot with the key
(02:00:56):
start on the twenty eight yard line, and here we go.
That was the first my first play in Credit Union
time out. Yes for comb Yeah, McComb did exactly what
they need to do there.
Speaker 2 (02:01:08):
It I almost I was almost kind of almost saying
maybe Mohawks should take a time out and just talk
about because that was a big play. That was That
was the first of the two biggest plays. And if
you do something great on that play and you get
a first down, it's ball game. If you make a
decent play and you get to where it's fourth and one,
(02:01:29):
that's still almost bulk.
Speaker 1 (02:01:30):
But they they just they just were not ready in
McComb man. That defensive line.
Speaker 2 (02:01:35):
They stepped up and made a great play and they
played under almost like a goal line, and they just
flattened everything and they stopped the advancement of Bogner.
Speaker 1 (02:01:43):
What you got on it got anything on the score? Yeah,
Columbus Grove thirty eight or six the Loma Central Catholics.
So again, the Bulldogs, Columbus Grove. They're the number one
for a reason. So that's the team that either Mohawk
or McCombe will face. I know LCC they're a good program.
(02:02:04):
So that's a yes, that's a pure that's a thumping
that that just shows you what Columbus Grove is all about. Yes, serious.
But the next round will be at a neutral site,
correct it will. Yeah, it has to be a neutral
site for the regional semifinals. All right, four down to three,
twenty eight yard line. Three eleven left Mohawk with the
twenty to thirteen lead. The cornerback Bogner has a snap
(02:02:27):
protection breaking down. He tries to run away, puts up
in the air twenty eight head. It's too high for
Caleb bish a completely cash. Oh wow, complete job, good
job by the corner. They went forward by the corner though.
Speaker 2 (02:02:41):
Not committing a silly pony pastor ference. But if you're Mohawk,
you feel pretty good. You feel pretty good, and knowing this,
the comb only has one time out. There's three minutes left.
They're going to have to move the ball through the
air at some point. They have not done that very well.
(02:03:03):
So you feel comfortable, but you don't feel good. So
Mohawk has to keep everything in front of them no
matter what.
Speaker 1 (02:03:11):
First ten twenty eight yards one snap is back here.
This raider works his way to the left side. Mohawk
wears already for it with Cayden Is. Yeah, there absolutely
because everything has to be quick now. So that was
a huge play right there, keeping them basically no game.
(02:03:34):
Second down, Oh, I guess there is a second down
to eleven and twenty seventy yard line. Snap back's Raider Cox.
The arm throws far side and it's a complete He
may have caught it, but he was about on the
far side. It's just not their cup of tea. It's
just not what they do. Yeah, it's not how they
play it.
Speaker 2 (02:03:53):
And that's taking him out of their element. So this
is an opportunity, you know, you know right here, if
I were McComb, I would try and run something that's
been working all night. Get to where it's fourth and five,
fourth and managible. If you try and get it all
right here, you've basically signed your letter of going home.
Speaker 1 (02:04:14):
Third and eleven, twenty seven yard line. Oh, how does
MCB need something here? Down the touchdown? Late enough? Four
stap back, here's raider, lets it go downfield, up in
the air, wobbler and on the readjustment he writes out,
they're going to get there at midfield. On at your side,
Caleb bish to closer the defensively for both o'clock they
had twenty six. That's exactly now, that's exactly what they did.
Speaker 2 (02:04:38):
They were going kind of going for jail broke right
there and uh and once again that throw just kind
of flame duck throwing in the air. Boy, And and
that shows you why they why they are running so much.
Speaker 1 (02:04:53):
Kirk, Yeah, I mean yeah, even when they go spread Yeah,
they they run out.
Speaker 2 (02:04:57):
The vertical thread at all. It off, so just keep everything.
Speaker 1 (02:05:02):
Here we go, yeah, four than eleven twenty seven yard line.
It could be snap is back? What will we get
the whistle on the snap or we gonna what happened?
You see? And yeah, we're getting the call to lay
a game. Okay it is he's gonna further fire up
to It made a job that much harder.
Speaker 2 (02:05:26):
Fans are, fans are stopping their feet, they're excited, and uh,
that's just gonna hamp them up even more. And it
just makes a very hard passing game even much more harder.
Speaker 1 (02:05:39):
To twenty five to go on the fourth with a
snap here Srader long pass sideline and let's.
Speaker 6 (02:05:49):
See, look like they're what's a kind whipped out there?
Speaker 1 (02:05:53):
My shaps and ships we defended by Nation ship O
warriors take over. It was it was non interception. I
don't think it's an interception? Is that about? Absolutely?
Speaker 2 (02:06:08):
Then down it was either an interception or is incomplete?
Uh and yeah they did incomplete, but either way it's
done right absolutely, yeah, so so yeah it was it,
Yeah exactly, it was outbound right, it doesn't matter yet
bho hauts the ball well so they are just gonna
try to.
Speaker 1 (02:06:26):
Run things out yep.
Speaker 2 (02:06:28):
And they're buckling up in the driver's seat, and uh,
they just have to run one play. They still have
to play football. They still have to run the football.
They have to play obviously, nothing through the air, keep
it all on the ground, keep it simple. Write in
the Bogner's hands, make him run the ball, hold on
to it, and no talking, no chippiness, all right, says
(02:06:49):
Happing back here. Bogner just runs right up. He knows
what the mission is.
Speaker 1 (02:06:55):
Yep. Stop rire to sixteen number twenty seven, not taking
the top last time?
Speaker 6 (02:07:01):
Now?
Speaker 1 (02:07:04):
Oh and uh well now they do okay, final time out.
They put it right at the two minute marked the
coal for that question, final credit. You did time out
twenty to thirteen. Okay, right, it is right the two minutes.
So is that the two minute warning is their own
(02:07:24):
version of a two minute warning? Just uncanny? Do you
have any other scores are at? Yeah?
Speaker 2 (02:07:29):
So?
Speaker 1 (02:07:29):
Uh yeah, well that's interesting. Yeah, I had a score
that like completely flipped on me here. What we can't
say is that Carrie unfortunately has been eliminated. The Patriots
and Patrick Henry winning at twenty four to nothing at
(02:07:50):
Seneca East, also out Hope well a loud and winning
that game thirty four to nothing. But Colonel Crawford, Uh,
Peers will still be in it. But really get thirteen
to six from what I see to Grandview Heights.
Speaker 2 (02:08:06):
Oh they're still living again. Yeah, grand Views number one seed.
So but we talked about that Grand Views played. They're
not in a real conference really and so, uh, they've
just beat up some bigger schools and uh so Pearl Crawford.
Speaker 1 (02:08:22):
Hanging out second down and four seventeen yard line right
back to Bogner runs wrapped the middle, just keeps on
charging hard. Thirteen and yeah, yep, he's got the uh
that'll be a first. Yep, he got it. Go Matthew's
aer first, hewl that's it, boys, that's what it's looking like.
(02:08:44):
You just gotta hold onto the ball right now. Yep.
Speaker 2 (02:08:46):
The uh, the fat lady is leaving the warm up room,
so she's a skin ready to start singing. Kirk And
I tell you what, Mohawk had to really hold on
for dear life and and make some place.
Speaker 1 (02:09:02):
Well, absolutely, but they were victorious in the end. So yeah,
the Mohawk Warriors there kind of going to the victory
formation has happened back in the knee has taken there
from the intent offensive player of the year, the quarterback
Ben Bogner, who's been sensational in this game. You think
about prior to the night, the most recent contest between
(02:09:22):
these two programs, we talked about it fourteen years ago
on November to twelve, twenty ten. That was a playoff game.
McCombe won that one, thirty nine to seven. That was
a regional semifinal at Faustoria. Wow. And it's a different
outcome tonight for sure, as a Mohawk one minute away
(02:09:43):
from getting the revenge fourteen years later, fourteen year itch,
that's right, snap back to Bogner takes another knee. They
just do that one more time based on the clock.
The play clock. Mohawk Warriors wanted a fantastic job done
by this team.
Speaker 2 (02:10:05):
Resilience is the name of the is the name of
the game tonight, Kirk resilience, Mohawk made the plays with
they had to make and we'll talk about that a
little bit.
Speaker 1 (02:10:15):
Of post game. Yeah, absolutely, but Lloyd, they had to
earn it tonight though. Snap back Vogner takes the knee,
they don't have to do any more. Who the final
fifteen seconds will tick down, the celebration can be can
There will be at least one in ten team play
in Week thirteen and the ante champions the Mohawk Warriors
(02:10:38):
two one b It is over. The Mohawk Warriors defeat
the Macombe Panthers twenty to thirteen, so Bohawk will advance
to the regional semifinal and a neutral field to take
on the number one seed, the Bulldogs of Columbus Grove.
Speaker 2 (02:10:59):
Yeah, I think you know, and it's HiT's great for Mohawk. Uh,
you know for Macomb though, these guys the last time
they're suiting up, and all good things must come to
an end at some point. So you know, you feel
for these seniors, uh, these kids that they have to
make that long bus ride home.
Speaker 1 (02:11:18):
But you know, they had nothing to hang their head about.
Speaker 2 (02:11:21):
I mean, they went eight and four overall, they upset
a team in the playoffs. You know, they they had
a great season. They had a great season, and and
congratulations to McComb for this season that they did have them.
But more so, congratulations to Mohawk. You got a conference championship.
You're playing in week thirteen. I mean, that's all that's
(02:11:45):
all you want. You just survive in advance, right, So
that's what it was tonight, survived and now they're advancing.
Speaker 1 (02:11:53):
They certainly are. They absolutely deserve it. They're gonna celebrate tonight.
Of course to sell braation won't be able to last
too long. It's just the nature of the playoffs. They'll
have a big game to get ready for next week.
But they are certainly excited to show everybody what Bohawk
football is all about.
Speaker 2 (02:12:11):
Yeah and uh and again representing the N ten as
it sounds like there's a little bit of I don't
want to say underperformance, but some some not success.
Speaker 1 (02:12:24):
Uh for the intent and so that's true, that's fair.
Speaker 2 (02:12:28):
So you know, I don't want to say, uh it's
a little bit of a Star Wars reference, but uh,
you know, Obi Wan Kenobi and Mohawk you're our only hope,
you know.
Speaker 1 (02:12:40):
Yeah, there you go. You know you gotta you gotta.
Speaker 2 (02:12:43):
Kind of hope for him to uh continue to have
that success and play really strong next week against what's
gonna be a really tough opponent.
Speaker 1 (02:12:50):
That's what it is, all right, Well, we'll uh take
a little break and we'll come back and we'll get
ready for some post game. But again it's a final.
Bullhawk al to defeat Macomb twenty to thirteen to advance
in the Regional SIMPI finals. So glad you're with us
tonight and we'll have some postgame here for you. I'm
manted ninety five to nine at night a radio. We
are with the cornerback Ben Pogner after the victory for
(02:13:13):
the Bullhawk Warriors twenty to thirteen over McComb and congratulations,
I mean, big week for you. Obviously named in ten
Offensive Player of the Year. We talked before about all
that you've done, and the first thing that you said
to me was my teammates. My teammates always just stepping
up and getting it done. What can you say about
what you and your teammates collectively did tonight to be
(02:13:35):
able to get the job done and get yourselves into
a regional SEMMI final.
Speaker 5 (02:13:38):
That's the biggest thing I ever could have hoped for
a last game at Warrior Field, going away with a victory.
I mean, I made plenty of mistakes tonight and I
couldn't ask for a better group to rally around me
were we lost ham in there for the fourth quarter
or something, and the boys just kept rallying together and
we started playing even more and more together as we
(02:13:59):
kept making mistakes.
Speaker 1 (02:14:00):
It was awesome, Yes, no doubt about it. Scott.
Speaker 2 (02:14:04):
So Yeah, you know, it seemed like Macombe really kind
of playing a really tight first quarter in first half.
I mean, it's looked like you guys were making progress
down the field and then just they were making great
stalls and you know, great job defensive line, great stops.
What changed there in that second half because it looked
(02:14:24):
like your line in that fourth quarter really started to
take off.
Speaker 5 (02:14:28):
I mean, honestly, it's just like we knew we had
to win tonight. It's a winner go home in at halftime.
We knew that we had to rally together. We probably
didn't probably the greatest game we did, but we found
a way to win. And that's the biggest thing when
it comes to the end of the game.
Speaker 2 (02:14:46):
Absolutely, and you you really kind of saw it in
the fourth quarter. Did coach talk at halftime about kind
of coming out with a greater purpose and just togetherness.
Speaker 5 (02:14:56):
Yeah, that first drive of the second half, I can't
I don't remember what happened, and I think it was
a solid drive and we stalled out. I'm pretty sure,
but it's on the first drive of the second half
almost sets the tone for the second half in right
aligne did a great job and the coaches drew up
an amazing game plan.
Speaker 1 (02:15:13):
It was great. Yeah, with Ben Bogner the star senior.
After the win for the Mohawk Warriors today able to
get past the McComb Panthers. Wow, so we know how
the reality is, right. I mean, you celebrate and like
you mentioned, your final game here at home. You know
you've had three seasons as a starting quarterback for this program.
(02:15:33):
But then you gotta get ready for another game, which
was a great opportunity, but obviously a lot of work.
You know, some early thoughts if you're real on this
next matchup Columbus Grove. We know they're the number one seed,
they are tough, we know they're a great team.
Speaker 5 (02:15:48):
We just got to Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday is gonna
win or lose that game for either of the teams.
It's preparation for the game, then going out on Friday
night and execute and I it's gonna be amazing. I
don't winning two playoff games after going two and eighth
this season. Before I I never would even dream this
would happened to this team. I'm almost speechless right now.
Speaker 2 (02:16:12):
It honestly it It just shows to persevering through adversity
and learning from those lessons. And it's just I know
everyone's healthy right finally, and it's just all together just
happening right at the right time. And lightning is striking,
you know, and you and you guys just keep taking
that momentum. So hey, man, congratulations, nice job, good win,
(02:16:34):
And I tell you what you got, Like you said,
you got to experience something that not everyone gets experienced
your last home game as a win.
Speaker 1 (02:16:43):
Thank you guys. That's right all right, man, Always good
talking to you. We'll see you next week.
