It's one more try. It isThe Morning Breeze with Carolyn and Court.
Good Morning. It is six ohseven July twenty third, twenty twenty four.
Happy Tuesday, Happy Tuesday. Todayis also National Vanilla ice Cream Day,

(00:22):
not just ice cream Day, It'sNational Vanilla. It's very specific,
very vanilla. Yes, we actuallyhave this question on our Facebook page ninety
eight one. The Breeze would lovefor you to join in on that conversation.
What is your go to ice creamflavor? So I'll start with you.
Well, I'm gonna be honest withyou. I won't complain with a
nice bowl of vanilla ice cream, just plain change you play maybe vanilla bean

(00:46):
or something, no, some butbut my favorite. My go to is
mint chocolate chip. Really love mintchocolate chip. Wow. I would never
have expected that hot summer day.Nothing better. Huh, what about you?
I'm a caramel ribbon. If it'sgot any caramel going, it's like
a vanilla and caramel going through it. Oh, it's like a stream of

(01:07):
goodness going through my vanilla ice cream. I grew up this ice cream called
Heavenly Hash. I can't remember whomade it. Heavenly hasheds that it's almost
like a Pralines and cream almost.I don't know. It's got nuts and
or something in it. Any icecream with nuts in it. Oh,
you're not a fan. Not afan of that. I'll take I'll take
those nuts. The other one Inever could get behind. And people are

(01:27):
gonna what Neapolitan. Oh, it'sgot the best. It's got three different
flavors. I think that's why Ijust want a plane. Jane like straightforward
one and done. So you likevanilla? Yeah, okay, but again
this question on our Facebook page ninetyeight one of the breeze. This is
actually perfect since it's going to beabout one hundred and eight in the East

(01:47):
Bay again today, so it's goingto be a hot one today they're saying
is the hottest day in the BayArea. It'll start cooling down tomorrow and
by cooling down, I mean ninetyfive in the East Bay tomorrow. Well,
it's perfect time for you to startthinking about Christmas because we're celebrating at
Christmas in July. What a greattransition. Yeah, Sarah Brightman's a Christmas
Symphony December fourteenth at the San JoseCivic. We're giving away tickets every day

(02:08):
this week. Be here at eighttwenty five for your chance to win a
pair. Here on the breeze andon the way. This morning, at
six twenty five, we've got theMorning Breeze brain tease. Okay, nearly
ten percent of people say it's completelyacceptable to take this from a restaurant.
Mm ten percent of people. Onlyten percent, though that's such a low

(02:29):
number, say it's unacceptable to takethis. Oh, it's completely acceptable.
It's completely acceptable to take this froma restaurant, according to one in ten
people, so it's a small amountof people. Might not be something you
think to take, all right eightseven seven nine eight one oh nine eight
one. If you think you havethe answer, Court, we'll give it
to us. At six twenty five. This morning, here on the Breeze,

(02:50):
the Breeze the Eagles. At sixtwenty three, it is the Morning
Breeze with Carolyn and Court, andit's time for the Morning Breeze brain Tease.
Nearly ten percent of people say it'scompletely acceptable to take this from a
restaurant. Eight seven seven nine eightone oh nine eight one. Carlos in

(03:10):
Palo Alto. What do you thinkforks? Yeah, utensils. You shouldn't
be taken to silver Oh you should, but I do got to say,
there's a great restaurant out in ColeValley. You are not about to suggest
they've got really great like true silverware. It's gorgeous. Court don't take it.
Yes, Carlos, have you evertaken silverware from a restaurant? Never?

(03:31):
Never, But I've seen people doit. Oh yeah, really I've
never seen somebody still silverware. Wow, happens like this restaurant in Cole Valley.
All right, Carlos, have agood day. Thank you for listening.
Say okay, thank you, Darryand Hayward, good morning. Okay,

(03:52):
here we go. Nearly ten percentof people say it's completely acceptable to
take this from a restaurant. See, I feel like this answer is going
to be a salt pack or asweet and low pack, right, a
package of sugar or tea or apackage of tea, a package of tea,
right. They oftentimes you have themsitting there. It's a pretty good

(04:12):
guess. Yeah, not the correctanswer here, though. Nearly ten percent
of people say it's completely acceptable totake the pen you've signed your check with
when you're done. So people saythat the restaurant nosturants. Ten percent of
restaurant goers say, hey, takethat pen. Have you taken a pen?
Court? Maybe? Maybe maybe ifit's a good pen. I mean

(04:34):
that's the same same. So twoout of three dairy be honest. Have
you taken a pen from a restaurant? No? Just tea and sugar,
sugar. I have taken pens all. The place I always take pens from
is like hotels. If I'm stayingat a hotel and they've got the stationary
there, those are mine. Ifeel like they want you to there.

(04:56):
Maybe what are they gonna do?They're not gonna leave a dirty pen for
the next person. Typically at arestaurant, though, the pends, you
know, they're just like your oldfashioned, old school Yeah, because they're
for the waiter waitresses. So whydo we take them? I take I
do take the pins from the hotels, and also take the extra package of
a Kleenex. Oh, the oneunder the Saint Arry. That's the only

(05:21):
size. That's the only size thatsits in the group department. Right,
Okay, that's hilarious. I nevereven thought about that. Wow, this
has an eye open. If theydidn't want you to take them, why
would they put them in your room? That was fun, It was good
to talk to you all. Ihave noticed, Carolyn, that a lot

(05:43):
of hotels are no longer putting likedifferent smaller shampoos and lotions and stuff.
Yes, I noticed that too. They're gone to dispensers. Yes, I
thought so. I thought. Iwas like, am I just staying in
nicer hotels? No, they justthey're tired of being stolen from it.
But I don't know if it's somuch that it's also like I guess it's
more environmental, there's less plastic waste. Probably that is a combination. It's

(06:04):
a combination. Eight seven seven, nine oh nine eight one is how you
reach us? And a reminder comingup this morning at eight twenty five.
It is Christmas in July. Yeah, we're giving away tickets to see Sarah
Brightman's a Christmas Symphony in December atthe San Jose Sivic And we would love
to send you so be here eighttwenty five your chance to win on the

(06:24):
Morning Breeze Please. It's the MorningBreeze with Carolyn and Court and on today's
Morning Breeze, Brain teas. Welearned that nearly ten percent of people say
it's okay to steal the pen afteryou've signed your check at a restaurant.
Ken in Pleasant Hill, good morning. I took a place setting of four
dishes from a restaurant long time.Oh wow, that was honest. We

(06:45):
asked your waitress and she says,as long as you tid me good take
them. What did you ask fora bag or did you just walk out
with four friend? She had acourse, she had a big purse,
four plate, four cups, foursaucers. Just love those dishes with flowers
on them, loaded four plates, four cups for saucers into a purse and

(07:05):
left a restaurant. Yep, andwe left her at twenty some dollars ten
And the waitress was like, goahead, I don't even know what to
say to what what you just said? Ken? That was up by Eureka
and this little mom and popper.Oh it was a mom and popping.
Even better, that's great, goodjob. Worse, I was reading in

(07:28):
the newspaper the other day that thisrestaurant your eureka, when when is this?
Because they people kept stilling their placesetting. It's Phil Collins you'll be
in my heart. It is seveneight good morning, It is the morning
Breeze with Carolyn and Cord, andit's time for the Brighter Side. Eight
seven seven one nine eight one. That is how you reach us. If

(07:53):
you've had something recently happen that wasgreat, or you're excited about maybe something
coming up in the future that youcan't wait for. We want to hear
what's going on in your life thatjust puts a smile on your face.
That's positive. That's the brighter Side'sall about it. It could be anything,
could be anything. Speaking of positivity, mister positivity across from me here
has brought us a brighter side today. Nobody's ever called me that before,

(08:13):
but thank you first and last timefor everything. Yeah. So I
did some flying over the weekend, and I don't know if you've ever been
on a plane, Carolyn, whenthere's been a medical emergency. No,
that happened to me. On myflight back into the Bay Area. A
flight attendant was actually having a medicalemergency. I'm not exactly sure what happened.
I think she was faint, butI kind of witnessed it. I

(08:37):
was towards the front of the plane, I could tell this flight attendant wasn't
doing very well. Oh my gosh, and people were checking in on her.
The pilot actually came out was checkingon her, and I didn't think
too much about it, because, you know, was the plane in the
air, when the planet was inthe air, everything was fine, But
the pilot came out. The pilotcame out, That's when I started to
notice that something was a little off. Yeah. And then as we were

(08:58):
making our descent into the area, they came over the intercom and said,
is there anybody on board that hasany medical experience? And that's when you're
like, oh, something's going onhere. Get So there was a brief
pause because they said, if youare, please stand up and come to
the front of the pit plane. And pretty soon the man sitting just to
my left stands up and walks upand no Way chicks in and I'm like,

(09:20):
wow, this guy was right nextto me all this well, So
he sits down and starts talking withthe flight attendant and I see they get
out one of those blood pressure cuffs. He's asking her questions, he's taking
notes really intent, and it wasjust it was just kind of amazing to
watch this stranger stand up and totallymore or less save the day. That's
what it felt like. So welanded SFO, the San Francisco Fire Department

(09:45):
gets on board, takes the flightattendant off, and this this man was
just a hero. They moved himup towards the front of the plane by
that point so he could get offwith her and go answer any medical questions.
But the biggest thing for me washe was wearing a Hooters T shirt
and I noticed him. I noticedit when I got on board, and

(10:05):
he's the guy that stands up.And it's just one of those things where
like you should never judge a bookby its cover. Not that wearing a
Hooter's T shirt is bad. Theirwings are delicious, some of the best
wings I've ever had. Go therefor the food, for sure, absolutely,
But he was the man that stoodup in this flight of time.
I wonder if he was an offduty he was an EMT. That was
the one thing I was able tohear is when San Francisco Fire Department,

(10:28):
when they got on board, theywere trying to explain everything that was going
on, and they said, thisgentleman is an off duty EMT. It's
crazy, though that it was afull flight or it was a large flight
and there was one person. Yeah, like what are the odds? Right?
And you see that on TV?And the movies were like if they're
a doctor on board? They wentmore generic, they said, is there
anybody with medical experience on this plane? Boy? And he's the guy that

(10:52):
got up right place, right time. Yeah. Go Hooters. Absolutely,
their wings really are really good.Never never had them, And I'm okay
with that. I'm just open, sorry that I'm just hoping that they give
this guy like free flights for life. Oh I'm sure for a while.
Take care of him for sure. But that's awesome. Thank you for sharing.
We're at eight seven seven nine eightone oh nine eight one. Hey,

(11:13):
coming up on Thursday, we aregoing on the road, you and
I Yeah, if you dol aroad trip. Yeah, if you've ever
wanted to hang out with Carolyn andmaybe myself, I'll I'll be there as
well. This is your chance becauseon Thursday, July twenty fifth, we're
going to be in Conquered, Yesat nineteen ninety Market Street, donating blood.
Yes, it's iHeart Blood week allweek here on the Breeze. We're

(11:33):
trying to get the word out, come out, donate blood, help save
a life. You could save actuallymany lives by donating blood. Yeah,
it's something you don't always think aboutwhen you donate that pine of blood or
however much it is, it's morethan one person that benefits from that.
Absolutely. So again, this isgoing to be in conquered on Thursday from
noon to nineteen ninety Market Street. We will see you there right here on

(11:54):

the morning Breeze with Carolyn in Court. I just looking at the weather app
on my phone at because I sawon the news this morning it's going to
be the hottest day of the week. Today we're looking at one hundred plus
degrees again Inland, and then itstarts to cool down tomorrow, a cool
ninety five. Wow. Okay,we're excited about the takes Bay, but

(12:16):
this morning, to your point,on our page, we asked what your
go to go to ice cream flavoris. Today is a perfect day for
you to get that bowl of icecream and enjoy because it's going to be
absolutely court. So I'm reading throughthis kind of is a backfire because I'm
reading through all these comments on ourFacebook page at ninety eight one the Breeze

(12:37):
and now I'm obsessed with going outtoday and getting like frozen yogurt or ice
cream like Kathy said, Jamoka, almond fudge, Jesse Rocky Road and says
black Cherry. Gwendolyn likes a rainbowSherbet or orange Sherbert with chocolate chips in
it. Right. I answered thisquestion with my go to, which is
always mint chocolate chip. So manypeople on the voted for that. Yeah,

(13:01):
And I started seeing that, andthen I started thinking, realizing when
I go to the grocery store andactually buy ice cream for myself, it's
cookies and cream almost every single time. So good? How great is cookies
and cream? You're there for theice cream, but when you get a
big piece of oreo in there, then you're there for that much is better.

(13:22):
I seen a lot of Rocky Roadpeople listening. That's so eighties.
I love Rocky Road. It tellsI had mentioned this earlier when we were
talking about this in the six o'clockhour. Heavenly Hash is something I grew
up with. Heavenly Hash is akind of a variant of Rocky Road.
Oh, it's got almonds and it'sgot marshmallow in it, and it's got
flecks of chocolate. That sounds rockyroadish to me. I mean, I

(13:43):
guess it's a variation, but it'sa little it's ten Rocky roads. But
it's so good. Well, here'sthe thing, so Dave. On our
Facebook page at ninety eight, oneof the Breeze said he loves a German
chocolate cake ice cream from Baskin Robbins. It's a two fer for me and
chocolate cake and an ice cream.Yes, please, but Baskin Robins.
How great is Baskin Robbins thirty oneflavors thirty one flavors court. I grew

(14:07):
up riding my bike to my localBasket Robins. We'd go there after swim
meets Look. Baskin Robbins is theog of ice cream places. Coldstone came
along, didn't knock Basket Robbins out. They're still here, Salt and Straw.
Nope, Basket Robin's still here.Ben and Jerry's bask and Robins still
stands strong. So I love thatour listeners are commenting on Baskin Robins.

(14:30):
So go to I love how muchyou love your basket rob love my basket
Robins. I love it are here. What the store smells like when I
walk in And people been hating onbasket Robins. No, I'm just very
proud of its strong for so manyyears. Is that where you're going today's
basket Robins? I think I might. Yeah, I think I might.
But yes, your go to icecream flavor, it's the flavor that you
have to have on a day liketoday eight seven seven, nine, nine

(14:54):
eight one, or maybe it's yourgo to ice cream place here in the
Bay Area. Join that conversation onour face book page at ninety eight one
the Breeze and don't forget coming upthis morning at eight twenty five. Once
it's going, We've got tickets tocheck out. Sarah Brightman's a Christmas Symphony
coming to the Bay Area in December. Yes, she is going to be
December fourteenth at the San Jose Civic. This is going to be a great

(15:16):
show. I know one hundred andfive degrees today and we're talking about Christmas.
But you want to get these ticketsin advance. Why we're going to
sell out. Yeah, and that'swhy we're calling it Christmas in July.

on the Breeze seven forty three TheRighteous Brothers on the Morning Breeze with Carolyn
and Court. It's going to beextra hot in the Bay Areas today,
hotest day of the week, they'resaying with triple digits. Inland, we've

(15:37):
been talking about the fact that it'sa perfect day to go out have ice
cream today. Support your local icecream shop. Yeah, and it is
National Vanilla ice Cream Day if youwant to add nilla. True, it
is if you want to be boring, be boring, all right. Somebody
had to say it, all right, eight seven oh nine eight one your
go to ice cream flavor. Wealso have this question on our Facebook page

(15:58):
ninety eight one breeze. Yeah,I'm looking at this. Some Jason listed
oat milk vanilla. Oh, beinteresting, oat milk, vanilla, pralines
and cream. Yeah, a lotof mint chocolate chip on there, some
jamocha, almond fudge, pistachio, almond, black cherry, black cherry,
and said black cherry. Yeah. And I again have to shout out my

(16:21):
love for our local Baskin Robins.Yeah, the go to place going strong
since I can remember in the eighties, you love Robins. I can't be
alone on this eight seven seven ninenine eight one VICKI in Union City,
good morning. The go to icecream for me at Baskin Robins is peanut

(16:41):
butter and chocolate, and the morepeanut butter, the better for me.
I love your love for peanut butterice cream, but even more so,
you know I respect your love forBaskin Robbins. Is it not the best?
It is the best, and likeyou said, the other ones that
have come behind it, and BaskinRobins is still around. When I was
pregnant with my oldest one and she'sabout thirty now, I would always go

(17:03):
to Thrifties because they we used tohave a Thrifties in Union City. Yes,
their ice cream back then was adollar, but I mean it was
good. But when you compare thatto Baskin Robbins, there is no compare,
no comparison at all. You takeyour square scoops thrifty and you move
aside. Basket Robbins is here tostay rifty, no longer exactly exactly.

(17:23):
Well, hopefully you guys have ablessed to enjoy your morning and stay safe
with this heat that we're going tobe getting today. Yeah, you too.
May I say one more thing aboutBasket Robbins, Okay, one more
thing on I promise I'm off theBasket Robins, so box after this.
Do you remember going to Basket Robbinsas a kid and getting the bubblegum ice

(17:44):
cream? Oh? Yeah, hadlittle chunks of bubble gum in Yes,
and how bad? Right that gumwas? The flavor was pretty good.
Let's look at Jawbreaker and as akid, you're like, yes, I'm
getting gum out of this. Yes, but it was kind of a rip
off, so bad you had thrownit away before you even got home on
your bike, right yeah? Eightseven seven nine eight one your go to
ice cream flavor, your go toice cream place in the Bay Area.

(18:08):
Also, this conversation is on ourFacebook page at ninety eight one of the
Breeze. Also highly encourage you tostick around because coming up later this morning
eight fifty, we're going to becommercial free. Great way for you to
kick off your workday with ninety eightminutes of NonStop, commercial free, relaxing
favorites. We'll be doing that againat eight fifty here on the Morning Breeze.
It's the Morning Breeze with Carolyn andCourt. It is eight oh seven.

(18:30):
That is Patrick Swayze. Hope you'rehaving a great morning. Thank you
for being with us. I knowCourt, yesterday you put a pull up
on our Instagram stories and our Facebookstories about your beard. Should you trim
it? Yeah? Should you leaveit? Because it's very long right now?
Sure, the longest it's ever beenin my life. Yeah, leave
it, trim it? What wasthe third? Keep it or keep that,

(18:52):
shave it or trim it? Threeoptions? Yeah, I've reached a
crossroads where i've I'm not I'm notloving it, but some people are.
And so we asked the listening audiencewhat was the result of that. So
twenty five percent said keep it longand yeah, keep it as is okay.
Twenty three percent said shave it.Fifty two percent says trim it.

(19:18):
Okay, So I keep the beard. Are they saying shave it all the
way off? That would be myguest. I've never seen you without a
beard. That would be weird.I have been a bearded gentleman for at
least a decade, maybe fifteen sixteenyears. I think you should trim it,
that's what I would vote for.Well, I was kind of on
the fence on this because, again, my phone doesn't recognize me sometimes.
I'm kind of getting some hints formy sixteen year old daughter, Sloan what

(19:41):
she's saying hints. Second, yourbeard's kind of long, kind of beating
around the bush a little bit,Yeah, beating around the beer literally.
Yesterday, I went for a walkhere in the city and was up on
Market Street and I turned this cornerand this guy was walking out of a
bar and saw me, and hedid a double pick and he's like,
hey, Matt, you look likeGrizzly Adams. Well there's no better sign.

(20:07):
All right, I'm trimming it.That's it's decided. I love that
he came out of a bar andsaid that. I don't think. I
don't think he had necessarily had toomany. He seemed like his faculties were
all there. He had some liquidcourage, though for sure he just wouldn't.
He's like, he's like, ifthey ever decide to revive Grizzly Adams
TV series, because I don't knowif you watched it was a TV series

(20:30):
or a I don't know. Ithink it's a series. Yeah, regardless.
He was like, if they everbring that back, you need to
be first in line. He erry, I love that. He went on,
he said, definitely elaborated. Okay, so you're gonna trim it then,
so I'm gonna probably don't shave it. Be weird. I have to

(20:51):
look at you all morning, live, be weird for all of us.
I grow my beard out to likekind of hide the double chins that are
behind there, the double and Iwish I could do that. I mean
now have my own beard, butit's for different reasons you could. It's
called no judgment being older. Yeah, yeah, eight seven seven nine eight
one nine eight one. Maybe we'lldo it before and after, like take

(21:11):
a picture of it now and thenafter you trim it, sure, post
a side by side and see whatpeople take. People even notice, they
may say trim it more, theymay say grow it out again. So
we'll do that tomorrow, okay. And coming up in a few minutes at
eight twenty five this morning, SarahBrightman's a Christmas Symphony December fourteenth at the
San Jose Civic. You do notwant to miss this show. Yeah,

(21:33):
we're celebrating Christmas in July it's hot, and so why not think about cooler
taps, snow and ice skating andall those things and that holiday spirits.
Yeah, two tickets up for grabs, eight twenty five here in the Morning
Breeze. It's the Morning Breeze withCarolyn and Court. Congratulations, you are
