Speaker 1 (00:00):
You know, there's a lot of components to healthy families,
families that are growing in the right direction.

Speaker 2 (00:06):
And one of the things you always hope for is to.

Speaker 1 (00:08):
Have a really good vacation or time away with your family.

Speaker 3 (00:13):
And you are just back from one of those did
you have a good time?

Speaker 1 (00:16):
I did, And you've probably been on many of them
over the years.

Speaker 2 (00:21):
Yes, And if you.

Speaker 1 (00:23):
Are listeners, want to call in and tell us about
your very favorite family vacation or maybe a funny story
from your family vacation six one four eight two one
nine eight eight six six one four eight two one
at WTV and will be taken calls up until five
twenty nine on this Well, let us.

Speaker 2 (00:38):
Know where we should go that you know, that's a
good call, Maria.

Speaker 3 (00:42):
Where should I go next spring break?

Speaker 2 (00:46):
Next spring break? You know?

Speaker 3 (00:47):
In October?

Speaker 1 (00:49):
Logan is requesting clear water, my oldest because we I
thought one, yeah, a clear water like water, not clearwater Florida.

Speaker 2 (00:58):
But clear water okay.

Speaker 1 (01:00):
So if you have a place that has clear water
that you love, give us a call. We had not
clear water, but it was a lovely trip. My parents
live in Saint Simon's Island, which is southern Georgia, so
about an hour ten minutes north of Jacksonville. So that's
where we flew into and it was just really nice

(01:20):
to go and spend time in a beach town.

Speaker 2 (01:23):
Where it's seventy five degrees right now.

Speaker 3 (01:25):
Yeah, this must have been a shock to your system
when you came back.

Speaker 2 (01:29):
So rainy, and did you have good weather?

Speaker 1 (01:32):
We had great weather, so to come into this, I
was like, Wow, I helped my sun pumps working.

Speaker 3 (01:37):
Don't get me started. Did you see my post?

Speaker 2 (01:40):
Oh I didn't know.

Speaker 3 (01:41):
Oh oh no, I mean luckily we didn't have feet
of water.

Speaker 2 (01:47):
But you caught it early.

Speaker 3 (01:50):
They tore out the carpeting. We had to take out
the carpeting. So we're in the process of whatever it
takes to clean all that stuff up.

Speaker 1 (01:57):
What if it would have happened while you were gone?
What if you were on break when all this had happened.
I know, I'm so glad you were there.

Speaker 3 (02:03):
To catch it, but we're talking about space break.

Speaker 1 (02:05):
So so Logan said this was one of his top
five vacations, which I thought was lovely and such a
compliment to my parents.

Speaker 2 (02:14):
Is is there a top in your world one you
can think of with Donovan.

Speaker 3 (02:21):
That you really like that, we really really liked. You know,
We've gone on so many and I love the ones
that you that it's just us, you know, it's me
and my husband and my son, and we just do
our own thing. Well, not with family.

Speaker 1 (02:41):
Now.

Speaker 3 (02:41):
I love my family, but you know, sometimes you just
need that, You need that breather, that's space, yes, and
then you then you also need that because when you
have everybody with you, everybody wants to do different things,
and so it's good to not have as many many
people making those decisions and you as a family can

(03:03):
just do what you want to.

Speaker 2 (03:04):
Do, agreed.

Speaker 1 (03:07):
And I try to get into the mindset when I'm
on a trip with family or if I'm going to
visit my parents, that it's okay to have time by yourself.
And I think everyone should agree to that, because otherwise
it gets a little tricky to your point of someone
wants to go here, but not everyone wants to do that.
We rented a car and that was the best idea

(03:27):
because we were able to go.

Speaker 3 (03:30):
And do your own thing, do our own thing, and
that makes it nice.

Speaker 2 (03:33):
Are you mountain folks, ocean folks? Something else? More so?

Speaker 3 (03:38):
Mountain? So my son and my husband. They love to
go skiing. Oh, so we do. We go to Colorado
a lot, and we go to Beaver Creek, an area
out there. Now we do have family out there.

Speaker 1 (03:50):
Oh, you happen to have fa family out there, which
does make it nice.

Speaker 3 (03:55):
But they're really great. They're used to having a lot
of people visit them. Okay, so they're like, just go
and you do your thing. You know, if you see us,
you see us. If you don't, you don't.

Speaker 2 (04:05):
That's lovely.

Speaker 3 (04:06):
Yeah, so's it's really nice. It makes it very nice.

Speaker 1 (04:09):
I didn't go on a lot of vacations, like big
vacations as a kid, So I was sharing with you
earlier that I've only been to Disney World once, and
I went in twenty nineteen with my kids.

Speaker 2 (04:22):
We went to Saint Simon's a lot.

Speaker 1 (04:24):
My uncle worked at Flexi, which is where they train
all of the FBI agents.

Speaker 2 (04:30):
The IRS criminal.

Speaker 1 (04:32):
Agents, and so my uncle worked for the Treasury, and
so my dad's side of the family started to go
down there. So we went there probably a handful of times,
maybe four or five times. But we didn't take an
annual vacation as kids. We just really didn't.

Speaker 3 (04:47):
We didn't either growing up now, so you know, my
dad was in the Navy and we did a lot
of traveling with that. You know, I lived in Guam,
I lived in the Philippines, so I had a beach
right there.

Speaker 2 (05:01):
You did, You had a beach right there. How does
travel look to you?

Speaker 1 (05:05):
How does vacation look to you these days, given that
you grew up that way?

Speaker 3 (05:09):
Well? And the other thing too, is when we did
you know, when when we lived overseas, we didn't vacation much.
Now when we came back to the US, when we traveled,
we never flew. You know, if we were to go somewhere,
we were always driving same you know, it was pack
everything into a station wagon or whatever and we drove

(05:33):
from point A to point B.

Speaker 1 (05:35):
How I mean, think about how much more accessible flying is?
Which is it more accessible and I know we're up
against a rake. Is it more accessible or are we
just willing to pay to do it? Because I flew
for the first time when I was fifteen.

Speaker 3 (05:52):
Yeah, we're we're more willing to pay.

Speaker 1 (05:56):
And our kids, I just don't think they even begin
to understand how novel it was for us to get
on a flight back in the eighties.

Speaker 3 (06:04):
That was a treat.

Speaker 2 (06:06):
It really was.

Speaker 3 (06:06):
You felt like you were in first class and you weren't.

Speaker 1 (06:09):
Hey, right, economy looked a whole lot different back then. Well,
I hope many of you have enjoyed a spring break
or time away.

Speaker 2 (06:18):
With your families. I know there. I think there's a few.

Speaker 1 (06:20):
Districts left throughout Ohio that's still still spring break. Yeah,
but my kids go back tomorrow. So for those of
you going back, I think it might be the Hilliards
and the Dublins of the world, good luck with all that.

Speaker 2 (06:33):
Bundle them up.

Speaker 1 (06:34):
Yeah, they're gonna have to hide. If they have a tan,
they're gonna have to hide it. If they went skiing,
that's a different story. Go right, You just have a
little bit of sunburn around and maybe your eyes and whatnot.

Speaker 2 (06:44):
We have a ticket giveaway coming up.

Speaker 1 (06:46):
The Contemporary Theater is in We're going to talk to
Christy Farnbach about a new show and you could be
the winner of tickets.

Speaker 2 (06:54):
That is up next.

Speaker 1 (06:55):
Keep our phone number around six one four eight two
one nine eighty eight six six one four eight two

Speaker 2 (07:00):
