some of the stuff that you're doingat Scotty's Cafe or catering for that.
(02:19):
Well, we Scotty's Cafe is ajust part of Catering by Scott. My
daughter is an incredible chef. Sheis an intricate part of everything we do.
She is her as a pastry chef. She's one of the best you'll
find. So she creates every day. She makes new things in the in
(02:43):
the cafe side for guests to comein and pick up and order online and
do whatever they need to. Sofor the holidays, she's got her holiday
cookie boxes. She's got Yeah, what did you bring us? I brought
you some of her push pops thatshe does for uh is there cake in
this kind of ice cream push pops? It's beautifully done. And then she
(03:12):
does macarons. She has uh,raspberry meringues for you guys. There's some
chocolate dip strawberries. She made herstrawberry cupcakes. She does phenomenal things.
We had a a bot Mitzvah partylast night and it was a young lady
and it was all her name isZoe, and it was all about the
(03:35):
pink. So it was it wasan incredible party and she my daughter,
did all kinds of incredible desserts forher as well. So now can people
still order from you or is ittoo late? Oh? No, they
could order they could just come inand and see things with their own eyes
and say I want this. SoI like that idea. I know,
if you love somebody, this isthe perfect time to come in. How's
(03:59):
that? And a lot of uslove someone and I want to treat them
well. I love you, guys. That's why I brought some stuff for
you. We're gonna we're gonna trysome here in a second. Tell me
a little bit about the cafe.So you've got the catering side of the
business. But then the cafe.I was asking Maria where exactly is it
located. I know it's on broadin Broad Street, right on the edge
of Bexley. We're on the eastside of Bexley, five blocks west of
(04:23):
James Road right there. So whatare some of the dishes you're really proud
of there? Well, my daughter'sFrench toast has just been featured in January
as the best French toast in Americaand Canada. Oh I did not know
that. Congratulations, incredible, Imissed the news. Well on this now
(04:46):
I gotta go find it. Imean, we are French toast fanatics.
That's wonderful. It's all freshly made. She makes her own holabreads and everything
that's insane what she does well,And I know he keeps touting his daughter,
but also I have two of them. Yes you do. But your
soup tomato basil soup that's also wellknown as well and recognized, voted the
(05:09):
number one soup for the state ofOhio, never seven in the country.
Are you kidding? Yeah, it'sdelicious, ton of it? It is
delicious. What is the key toa really good tomato basil soup? Do
you think? Well? Believe itor not. My father in law was
from Intradaqua, Italy, and heused to come in. He passed away
two years ago, and he usedto come in every week and make thirty
(05:30):
gallons of fresh homemade sauce for usfor using for you know, all different
kinds of things that we use.And then we started to make our tomato
basil soup with his the base whichwas his sauce, and to this day
we continue to do with the samehome style way with tomatoes and garlic and
(05:51):
onions and fresh herbs and spices, and it's it's truly incredible and people go
crazy over it. So I needto go lunch. Everything we do is
homemade all of the breads, allthe soups, all the meats. Everything
is done in house. And it'sincredible too, because they do so much
(06:13):
catering from this. When you go, you'll be surprised. You know.
It's this little, quaint, littlediner, but all you do, all
of this work from this little shopit is. And how long have you
been at this shop in this location? Thirty one years? Okay, so
in Columbus thirty five years? So, oh, now where were you before
(06:34):
that? I was we were downat Broad and James in a strip center
down there at Brodon James when wefirst when I first moved here, and
we were there for about four years. Am I remembering where were you prior
to when you first moved here?I'm from Miami, Florka. I was
thinking it was Floria. I rememberMandy telling me this story. Yeah,
oh, he's got lots of MiamiVice stories. Do you remember that show?
(06:59):
I do. I gotta remember Mindytelling me that, like the lifestyle,
and so you did this in Miami. I worked with the show for
all five seasons. Yeah. Idid all the food you'd see on the
show, displays and presentations and everythinglike that for them. I mean wild,
So what are we trying? Maria, hand me something so we can
try something on air. Let melook, let's let's take all this so
(07:23):
people can come in and they canput together a box or get some individual
items. Oh yeah, and wealways have fresh pastries every day, so
you know you could have more thanone item because I brought them for the
two of you. I appreciate that. But I'm gonna this is like a
nice size macarone too, like,Oh, that looks so good? All
(07:43):
right? Are you trying that?I'm trying all right? Oh my goodness,
it has like a sugar cookie vibeto it. Yeah, I don't
know. And those are gluten freebecause they're it's almond flower. Okay,
because it's almond flower, Hannah,I'm gonna say a little piece of those
cookie because we've got our producer.I think she might be able to have
(08:05):
it. I'm going to try thechocolate covered strawberries. Of course, I've
heard these are Classicsott I've been doingthose. I've now catered two thousand and
five hundred and seven weddings and everyone of my brides as my gift is
getting the fresh fruit display with chocolatecovered strawberries. That's something I've done for
(08:26):
every wedding, right, I can'ttalk talk my mouth, that's a first,
and it just it looks it's likea huge berry with delicious chocolate on
it, and it's hard to getit right sometimes when it comes to these,
well see which so good at itand I just don't want to show
(08:48):
it in my mouth. I wantto be able to, you know,
taste it and enjoy joy. Well, you're doing a good job of it.
The best part is you don't haveit all over your face yet,
not yet. There's still time,I take it. It really takes some
time to perfect a chocolate. I'vetried to do them at home and I
can't quite get them right. Ohyeah, so it really does. It's
(09:11):
we do the old style, whichis using a double boiling system for our
chocolate. So and that's why it'sa thicker coating of chocolate. Yes,
yeah, it's pretty THI I meanit's just delicious. That's yupy Scottie.
