Speaker 1 (00:01):
So I'm very glad that I got to take a
break today Sunday, January fifth, twenty and twenty five, and
I got to go to I was invited by my
friend Stacey, also known as the Clarity Concierge, and I
was invited to the New Year Koto Concert at the

(00:26):
Morikami Museum in Japanese Gardens. It wasn't very long, but
it was fantastic. It was amazing, and I was able
to get an audience side recording of two of the
songs that stuck out to me the most that were
my I would say, my favorite of the day. So

(00:48):
this was the New Year Concert New Year Koto Concert.
It was today January fifth, twenty and twenty five at
Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens. And the musicians are Hannah Andrews,
Lorena Benitez, Alejandro Cohen, Elias Cohen, Yuki Denmark, Carmen Wevada,

(01:17):
Miko Ikeda, Emiko Koto, and Atsuko Nakamura. And there's a
special thanks I'm looking at the program here that says
to sense Yoshiko Carlton, Wendy Lowe, who's the curator of Education,
Ayano Hamilton and the dedicated Morikami staff. There's a great experience.

(01:39):
I got some great photos, which you know, I'm gonna
actually put these on the poems dot Hypnoathletics dot com site,
which is where I usually put my own music stuff,
and I'll post the photos that I have on that
block there. There'll be a link to it in the

(02:00):
notes of the podcast here on six thirteen records on Spreaker,
So wherever you're listening to this, if you go to
spreaker dot com and find the podcast for this, see
the link that will eventually be put up to this podcast. Yeah.

(02:22):
So actually the six or two the podcast, I actually
changed the name on supre career. It's called MC Narcissists,
So that's M dot C dot Narcissist and there are
reasons for that, so you know, but without further ado.
So the two songs you're going to hear are Kojo Notsuki,

(02:47):
which translates to the Moon over the Ruined Castle. It
was composed by Rentaro Taki in nineteen oh one and
inspired by the ruin of castles. So I got this
cranked all the way up here, and then I'll play
the second one, which was so this is the second

(03:10):
song they played in the show today, but it's the
first one I'm playing for you. And then I'm going
to play the fifth song and last song that they
played that they performed, I should say, which is the
fifth one in the program, but it will be the
second track that she will hear, all right. So this
first one again is Kojo Nosuki the Moon over the
Ruined Castle, composed by Rentaro Taki in nineteen oh one,

(03:34):
inspired by the ruins of castles.

Speaker 2 (04:00):
Oh oh ing.

Speaker 1 (06:26):
And so that's the first piece that I played for

(07:43):
you there, which is the Kojo Nosuki or the Moon
over the Ruined Castle, composed by Rentaro Taki nineteen oh one,
inspired by the ruins of castles, of course. And the
second song that you'll hear, performed by the Koto musicians

(08:07):
at the Morikami Museum in Japanese Gardens, is called Haru
no Umi, which means the sea in spring. But this
time well, this one was composed by Michio Miyagi in
nineteen twenty nine. He's actually the inventor of the bass Koto,

(08:29):
and it describes a childhood site of the sea at
Tomo Noura before Miagi lost his eyesight. So apparently he
went blind. And this one is actually only two of
the musicians that performed that day, and this is the brothers,
Alejandro Cohen and Elias Cohen. So Alejandro Cohen is playing

(08:53):
the koto solo and his brother Elias Cohen is playing
the violin. So that's the second piece. This one's a
little bit longer. The runtime on that is about seven
minutes and thirty six seconds the whole recording. There's a
little bit of leading from the actual when they were

(09:14):
warming up a little bit. But again, this is hotro
Haru no Umi The Sea in Spring, composed by Michio
miagu in nineteen twenty nine, and again it describes the
childhood site of the sea at Tomo Noura before Miagi
lost his eyesight. And again the musicians are on the
koto solos Alexandro Cohen and on violin is his brother

(09:36):
Elias Cohen. M M.

Speaker 3 (12:04):
I'm a bad days and.

Speaker 1 (14:11):
The m M M M R part and that is

(17:18):
uh the conclusion there. Again that was Hodo no Umi
The Sea in Spring, composed by Michio Miyagi. And I
will be posting also a link in the blog post
on poems dot Hypnoathletics dot com as well as in

(17:39):
the podcast for m dot dot Narcissist MC narcissist Don
Speaker that will have each one of those songs individually
available for downloads, So those will be available as downloads
for you to uh take with you. All right, that's

(18:02):
me Eves dropping the New York Koto concert at Morikami
Museum in Japanese Gardens January fifth, twenty twenty five. And
there will also be some just random pictures of the
gardens and everything and the concert hall also included in
that post. All right, until next time, stay well, I

(18:23):
would like

Model Wars

Model Wars

On the surface, the modeling industry in the 80s was about parties and pretty clothes, but underneath the flash, there were drugs, sex, and violence. And Paul Fisher, a former straight-A student from the San Fernando Valley, rose to prominence amidst the turmoil. After a chance encounter with an alleged mobster, Paul suddenly found himself with a million dollars in funding and the chance to start a modeling agency in New York City. The city was then embroiled in a “model war” between industry titans Eileen Ford and John Casablancas, and Paul tried to make his mark. But even as Paul thrived in the party-heavy culture of the time, burning cash like a furnace, he came face to face with the darkest forces in the industry. As his shady backers put the screws to him, Paul faced down deadly consequences, trying to make a star while saving his soul.
