Inspired by true events, The Accountant & The Counselor is a scripted audio drama series that follows the story of Mylena Hendrick, a corporate accountant, who struggles with depression and anxiety. Discouraged after meeting with a few bad therapists, she was close to giving up on therapy, but ultimately landed in the office of a caring and skilled counselor, Kane Princeton, who guides her to a path of healing.
Feeling less withdrawn, Mylena decides to engage with others and celebrates two special occasions. Ashley and Mylena support Martina through a life-changing event. Mylena is challenged with making major decisions that could impact the state of her mental health.
Mylena reconciles with Melinda, while Jeremy tries to make amends with Mylena. Kane makes a confession to Mylena. Mylena receives a devastating call about a relative.
Mylena tries to convince Mallory to do family counseling. Ashley and Martina share exciting news with Mylena. A former co-worker runs into Mylena and enlightens her with interesting information. Kane attempts to share a difficult truth with Mylena.
Mylena recounts the events leading up to her attempted suicide; sharing the deepest parts at her most vulnerable state. Kane faces an ethical dilemma.
Mylena opens up more to Kane, revealing hidden talents and discussing issues she has with her job and her sister, Mallory. Mylena questions if she may be getting too comfortable with Kane, while he too grows a soft spot for her. Ashley shows her commitment to Mylena’s mental wellness while Martina encourages behavior that could stifle Mylena’s healing.
Mylena opens up in her therapy sessions with Kane and talks about her past stressors. Delving deep into her traumatic experiences from childhood, she realizes how much her past has affected her as an adult. Ashley takes the initiative to understand more about Mylena’s mental health condition.
Following the instruction of an emergency room doctor who provided care after an attempted suicide, Mylena visits different therapists who lack professionalism and compassion. Encouraged by her best friends, Ashley and Martina, Mylena decides to give therapy one last try and meets Kane Princeton, a caring and attentive counselor.
