A TARDIS of One’s Own is a Doctor Who podcast in which Jen and Sophie embark on a queer feminist journey through time and space and the first five season of New Who. On permanent hiatus.
Well, well, well, if it isn't another Christmas special. This one is a very obvious take on the Dickens staple, A Christmas Carol, and we have a LOT of reckons. We start off our chats around having a moral compass and how often it falls on minorities to teach compassion to others, but then we rapidly descend into some hot takes around the unhinged parts of this episode. Surprisingly, it's not the fog fish.
An announcement about the...
We've made it to the end of season five. River Song returns to deliver The Doctor a serious warning from his allies: the mythical Pandorica, said to contain the most feared creature in the entire Universe, is opening. Once it does, silence falls, and Earth is left alone in the universe. Jumping through time, the Doctor must figure out a way to bring back those who never were and save his friends from the collapse of reality.

Had a wee mental health break but we're back on our bs and almost at the end of season 5! In this ep, the TARDIS teleports off without The Doctor and he's left to figure out why it can't land. All signs point to a seemingly ordinary, two storey house dun dun duuuun.
This episode runs on people who can't see can't see what's right in front of their faces, so our theme ackowledges that... it's ignoring the obvious.

It's our last episode of the year as we say goodbye and good riddance to 2024. This episode is heavy on the sad vibes, which shouldn't be surprising as we're chatting about episode ten of season five, Vincent and the Doctor. In this ep, the Doctor and Amy travel back in time to meet Vincent Van Gogh and face an invisible monster that only the painter can see.
Our theme is imposter syndrome, a...
We're on struggle street but we somehow make it through this ep talking about a double episode neither of us particularly liked. It's The Hungry Earth and Cold Blood, in which humans drill to deep into the earth, distrubing something that had been hibernating beneath the earth's crust for thousands of years. The Silurians are awake, angry, and preparing for war - a war that could decide who gets to live on Earth. We chat about the ...
Welcome to November, the Thursday of the year. We are tired but despite the horrors, we persist because we have to because we're supposedly adults. Which is actually what we talk about in this episode as we unpack the idea of growing up, or rather the expectation that you do so.
Episode seven of season five, Amy's Choice, supposedly starts five years after Amy and Rory finally left the TARDIS. They're married, expecting, and living...
Good news, after two months of not recording and a very long backlog of episodes, we're back and on a real-time publishing schedule. If you've stuck with us, thank you!
This episode, we're talking about episode six of season five, The Vampires of Venice. The Doctor and Amy cross swords in more ways than one with a horde of blood-sucking vampires in 16th century Venice.
It's the perfect episode for Halloween, and a good opportunity ...
It's time for the first double ep of Eleven's reign! In this two-parter, the Doctor and Amy respond to a message from River Song, and emerge from the TARDIS to find the wreck of the Byzantium spaceship. Down below the Weeping Angels are stirring, but that's not the only threat our adventurers face.
And you know what? Lots of people not sharing what they know, so we have big chats about withholding information, and who benefits from...
Guess who's back, back again, the Daleks are back, don't tell anyone because it's not entirely unexpected...
We're discussing episode 3 of season five, in which the Eleventh Doctor and Amy stumble into the midst of WWII, where Winston Churchill reveals Britain's new secret weapon to them. Spoiler: it's Daleks. We have some good chats about ignoring red flags, a thing lots of people in the Whoniverse excel at. We also recreate our d...
In this episode, the Eleventh Doctor takes his new companion to the 33rd century, where all of the United Kingdom's citizens (apart from the Scottish) live on board Starship UK and they quickly discover something sinister afoot. This one has big surveillance state vibes which made us think about collaboration, of the grim cooperation with an enemy kind. So yeah, this one gets quite political, but we also spend the first five minute...
New Doctor, who dis?? Same us, with our same silly jokes, but hey, stick to what you know. We're excited to dive into a brand new season with a brand new Doctor! With his TARDIS in ruins, the newly-regenerated Doctor with the help of Amy Pond must save the world in less than twenty minutes from galactic policemen known as the Atraxi. And you know what this episode has a lot of? Stranger danger. So that's our theme this ep.

We have made it to the end of Ten's farewell tour, finally. To quote Taylor Swift, it's been a long time coming. We are beyond ready for the change... unlike Ten, and the Master, and the Time Lords, in general... so we chat about that a bit. It's a short one cause frankly, so was our patience for these shenanigans. Enjoy!

We finally made it to the final special! The never-ending farewell continues with part one of the End of Time, where the Ood warn The Doctor of the Master's return. Yet somehow, that's not the biggest threat... a darkness is coming which brings with it The End of Time (TM). Meanwhile we ponder the concept of elders, and the notion of respecting them.

Pretty dark episode this week as we get some proper scifi actioning on Mars! In this special, the inhabitants of the first Mars base are infected by a mysterious water creature which takes over its victims, and the Doctor is thrust into the middle of this catastrophe knowing a larger one is waiting around the corner. As The Doctor keeps talking about fixed points in time, we wonder what it means to leave a legacy.

Big topic this week as we touch on the concept of home, and whether you can in fact find your way home. A tad literal because in this 2009 special, a bus load of humans are desperately trying to get back home when their bus takes a detour to a desert-like planet. With the deadly Swarm approaching, the Doctor must rely on the help of an enigmatic jewel thief, Lady Christina, to find a way back to Earth.

We're turning the bus around, trying to get our lives back on track, and also some semblance of podcasting schedule. It's a work in progress!
In this ep, we talk about the 2008 Christmas Special, The Next Doctor, where Cybermen stalk Victorian London and a lot of men underestimate a woman leading to all sorts of trouble. So, we talk about society's unfortunate habit of underestimating women and minorities.

Sorry, sorry, life got in the way of editing these but we have been recording them, so we'll post them as soon as we can, we promise. Thanks for listening, and for your patience, we really appreciate it!
In this episode, we're discussing the two part finale of season 4 and because we have so many of the Doctor's companions making cameos to face the daleks, we talk about the benefit of having strength in numbers.

In this episode, you can hear Jen have an existential breakdown in real time! What a treat!
This episode asks what would happen if Donna never met the Doctor? How would Earth handle the Racnoss, the falling Titanic or the Sontarans? Spoiler: not well. Meanwhile, we ask what it means to just follow the path you think you have to walk because society tells you to.

It's time to watch Jen's fave New Who episode, Midnight. Apologies the sound is a bit dodgy on this one, but hang in there!
In this ep, the Doctor hops on an all-day tour to the Saphire Waterfall which quickly goes wrong when one of the passengers is seemingly possessed. Paranoia and fear run rampant as the Doctor struggles to find a solution. The Doctor's fellow passengers really struggle with accepting the reality they find thems...
Time for an absolute New Who classic this week as we dive into the two-parter, Silence in the Library and Forest of the Dead. Donna and the Doctor visit a planet-sized library. Here we meet River Song for the first time, Donna faces an alternate reality, and the Doctor grapples with not knowing everything. Since we're talking about books and stories, we had to ask who actually gets to tell their stories, and what do we lose when on...
