כבר ארבעה עשורים שמידי יום ב-16:00 בוקעים ממכשירי הרדיו שירים עבריים מאוצר הזמר העברי, באווירה נוסטלגית וברצף אחד ארוך וכמעט נטול הפרעות. במשך השנים ערכו את התכנית מידי יום יורם רותם, דלית עופר, ודני קרפל. אות התכנית - הקטע "תמונה" שהלחין יצחק קלפטר ומבצעת יעל לוי הפך לסמלה המזוהה של התכנית. בשנת 2005, במלאת 25 שנים לשידור התוכנית, הפיקה התחנה אלבום אוסף משולש הנושא את שם התוכנית. האלבום זכה להצלחה רבה והגיע למעמד של "אלבום פלטינה". עשור אחרי שיצא לאור האוסף הראשון הושק בגאווה האוסף השישי של תכנית הרדיו המיתולוגית. עם למעלה מ-400 שירים לאורך 18 תקליטורים (ועוד היד נטויה). כל אלבומי האוסף מכרו עד כה למעלה מ-125 אלף עותקים. "ארבע אחרי הצהריים" ממשיכה להעלות על נס את מיטב הזמר העברי. בהפסקה מבורכת מרצף החדשות, נישמו אוויר לרגע והאזינו למוזיקה הישראלית שכולנו אוהבים. הצטרפו למוזיקה שעורכים יורם רותם, דלית עופר וערן אליקים, שמגיש את התוכנית ארבע פעמים בשבוע.
