Struggle along with Christopher and Lore as they desperately try to stay on topic. After an amusing aside about the rating system of "spicy" scenes and a leisurely walk down memory lane, they finally arrive at the topic of the episode: favorite first lines.

*SPOILER WARNING*
If you have not seen Season 2, and have managed not to be spoiled, please note this is very very spoiler-y.
It's been weeks now since Season 2 of Good Omens hit our screens and provoked..well, if we're honest, damn near the entire spectrum of human emotions on the way out. In a surprising twist; Chris is full of absolute unending rage and Lore is officially the new driver...
Settle in for a longer than normal episode as Christopher and Lore discuss how to create conflicts that work for your characters and theme. Watch them (very, very bravely) read their character studies out loud for the first time.
As always if you enjoyed our podcast let us known on Instagram @unrelatedbutpodcast or tumblr @unrelatedbut where we are almost always hoping to meet other writers who enjoy talking...
Naming characters is either the easiest or one of the hardest aspects of starting a story. Forget all the world building and plot development, just coming up with the right name for your new OC can feel both terribly exciting and terribly overwhelming. Well, Christopher has a fool proof way to name that character while Lore has a well thought-out way to pick the perfect name.
Oh, and we get side tracked abo...
Thoughts on the WGA Strike (#HoldTheLine), the industry's irresponsible use of funds and manpower, AI(it's trash, we do not support), and much more. Featuring Lore's angry rummaging and Christopher's food metaphors. Catch up with us on what's going on in the writing world!

Hey there guys! Guess who's back? It's us, obviously, Christopher and Lore. We're starting season two off with a new feature and a new project: we're writing a novel! Since writing is one of those things that is best taught by doing, we thought we'd go ahead and put our advice into practice by showing you how we go through the steps of writing a story ourselves. Episode one starts where a...
An (oddly subdued) conversation about the necessity of exploring all types of human relationships in writing. Featuring a segue about how much Chris and Lore made themselves hate Wyatt Earp (oops), another mini rant about 'She' (also known as Nora Roberts) is definitely one of Lore's favorite relationship-builders, and of course, a bunch of other stuff they can't remember.
In their usual fashion, Chris and Lore *attempt* to talk about a very common idea in the writing world and inevitably end up rambling on about Sheen and Tennant like the absolutely shameless fic writers they are.
There is, miraculously, some actual discussion on drafting styles, bless their hearts.

Maybe it was the topic, the lateness of the hour or the unbelievably taxing week we just survived but recording this episode brought out a bit more opinionated chaos than our previous installments. The randomizer chose 'Magic Systems and how to make them interesting' and we managed to squeeze in references to Superman, Captain America, My Hero Academia, Megamind, Good Omens, Supernatural and Serpent and Dov...
Love it or hate it, the thesaurus is in every writer's toolbox. It's knowing how and when to use it that's the trick (and we all know we're at least 58% bullshitting our way through figuring that out).
Join Chris and Lore as they discuss the dubious nature of the Thesaurus ; where accents are frivolous, Christopher REALLY wants to start a fight, and the mastery of DreamWorks' 'Th...
The randomizer picked a good one this week: live reading posts we found under the writing tags on tumblr (the only social media Christopher understands) and Twitter. Tune in to hear a well thought out, totally on point, absolutely never distracted discussion about the word 'said', paragraph structure, the need for higher education and why you should probably not be flippant about colonization.
This go around Chris and Lore talk about writing communities and how to avoid the muddy waters of the dreaded Group Think, how to navigate what kind of critique is right for you, and how super incredibly rude it was for Zoom to cut them off at the pass while they were on a roll. What about, you ask? They're not even entirely sure.

Join us as Christopher and Lore dive into that age old question of what comes first your plot or your character. While we start out 100% convinced that it's always going to be character we sidetrack ourselves with exceptions and an inevitable discussion of first person narration.

Next Up! An episode about World Building rapidly dissolves into chaos when Chris and Lore's take on the subject turns into the horrors and boons of exposition and how it affects the story. As they always manage to stay off-topic (and will inevitably never get to say as much as they want to) lets call this Part 1 of many.

The Burden is a documentary series that takes listeners into the hidden places where justice is done (and undone). It dives deep into the lives of heroes and villains. And it focuses a spotlight on those who triumph even when the odds are against them. Season 5 - The Burden: Death & Deceit in Alliance On April Fools Day 1999, 26-year-old Yvonne Layne was found murdered in her Alliance, Ohio home. David Thorne, her ex-boyfriend and father of one of her children, was instantly a suspect. Another young man admitted to the murder, and David breathed a sigh of relief, until the confessed murderer fingered David; “He paid me to do it.” David was sentenced to life without parole. Two decades later, Pulitzer winner and podcast host, Maggie Freleng (Bone Valley Season 3: Graves County, Wrongful Conviction, Suave) launched a “live” investigation into David's conviction alongside Jason Baldwin (himself wrongfully convicted as a member of the West Memphis Three). Maggie had come to believe that the entire investigation of David was botched by the tiny local police department, or worse, covered up the real killer. Was Maggie correct? Was David’s claim of innocence credible? In Death and Deceit in Alliance, Maggie recounts the case that launched her career, and ultimately, “broke” her.” The results will shock the listener and reduce Maggie to tears and self-doubt. This is not your typical wrongful conviction story. In fact, it turns the genre on its head. It asks the question: What if our champions are foolish? Season 4 - The Burden: Get the Money and Run “Trying to murder my father, this was the thing that put me on the path.” That’s Joe Loya and that path was bank robbery. Bank, bank, bank, bank, bank. In season 4 of The Burden: Get the Money and Run, we hear from Joe who was once the most prolific bank robber in Southern California, and beyond. He used disguises, body doubles, proxies. He leaped over counters, grabbed the money and ran. Even as the FBI was closing in. It was a showdown between a daring bank robber, and a patient FBI agent. Joe was no ordinary bank robber. He was bright, articulate, charismatic, and driven by a dark rage that he summoned up at will. In seven episodes, Joe tells all: the what, the how… and the why. Including why he tried to murder his father. Season 3 - The Burden: Avenger Miriam Lewin is one of Argentina’s leading journalists today. At 19 years old, she was kidnapped off the streets of Buenos Aires for her political activism and thrown into a concentration camp. Thousands of her fellow inmates were executed, tossed alive from a cargo plane into the ocean. Miriam, along with a handful of others, will survive the camp. Then as a journalist, she will wage a decades long campaign to bring her tormentors to justice. Avenger is about one woman’s triumphant battle against unbelievable odds to survive torture, claim justice for the crimes done against her and others like her, and change the future of her country. Season 2 - The Burden: Empire on Blood Empire on Blood is set in the Bronx, NY, in the early 90s, when two young drug dealers ruled an intersection known as “The Corner on Blood.” The boss, Calvin Buari, lived large. He and a protege swore they would build an empire on blood. Then the relationship frayed and the protege accused Calvin of a double homicide which he claimed he didn’t do. But did he? Award-winning journalist Steve Fishman spent seven years to answer that question. This is the story of one man’s last chance to overturn his life sentence. He may prevail, but someone’s gotta pay. The Burden: Empire on Blood is the director’s cut of the true crime classic which reached #1 on the charts when it was first released half a dozen years ago. Season 1 - The Burden In the 1990s, Detective Louis N. Scarcella was legendary. In a city overrun by violent crime, he cracked the toughest cases and put away the worst criminals. “The Hulk” was his nickname. Then the story changed. Scarcella ran into a group of convicted murderers who all say they are innocent. They turned themselves into jailhouse-lawyers and in prison founded a lway firm. When they realized Scarcella helped put many of them away, they set their sights on taking him down. And with the help of a NY Times reporter they have a chance. For years, Scarcella insisted he did nothing wrong. But that’s all he’d say. Until we tracked Scarcella to a sauna in a Russian bathhouse, where he started to talk..and talk and talk. “The guilty have gone free,” he whispered. And then agreed to take us into the belly of the beast. Welcome to The Burden.
