Speaker 1 (00:02):
It's the best of two pros and a couple Joe
with Lamar arrings rating Win and Jonas Knots on Box Radio.

Speaker 2 (00:13):
Yeah, so what I drive a beat for all that
you want to, I really do. Yeah, but I don't.
I don't have to deal with There's nothing worse than
having to go and buy a car and get the
run around from the sales guy at the car dealership.

Speaker 3 (00:30):
And you know you don't have to go to a dealership.

Speaker 4 (00:33):
You don't have any of that now do it all?
But I do want to hear your story and what
do you think this? Uh, this car salesman does give
me the exact play by.

Speaker 2 (00:44):
Around it because I did over the phone sales. It's
all a bunch of crap, Like he'll do this, He'll go,
all right, So if I can get you this rate
at this percentage, whatever the numbers are, and he says, uh,
and he starts writing it down on a piece of
paper and he says, Okay, look it's gonna I don't.
I don't think I can pull this off. But if

(01:04):
I'm able to go back to my manager, you know,
can I just get your signature here to know that,
like you're serious about this rate, if I can do it.
I don't want to make any promises, but if I
can do it, and then it's kind of like the
perceived gift. They're like, oh my god, well he's going
out of his way getting me a great deal. And
you go, yeah, of course, okay if you just sign here.
So you sign there and you go back to the manager.
The guy probably doesn't even talk to his manager. He

(01:25):
goes back, he slams a cup of coffee, he texts
some some girl he met at a at a bar
and happy hour the night before, and then he comes
back over and he goes, all right, so I think
we're good to go. So if you're ready, we'll get
this locked up. We'll take you over to finance and
we'll get everything out of here, get you up and
out of here, and like you know, within an hour.
It's all.

Speaker 5 (01:42):
It's just they walk through the coffee breakthrough like look
like like blow blow on their fingernails and point at
like the other salespeople like that one girl that they
can't get a hold of, right right, They probably like,
I sold that car. You see that dummy over there,
I sold it to him, which you think, yeah, yeah, okay,
so I ask you get in tomorrow.

Speaker 2 (02:02):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (02:03):
You know, you get to understand that's why I don't
buy cars very often.

Speaker 3 (02:06):
But when I do, like, I love grinding them down.
I love for every.

Speaker 4 (02:11):
Little like I'll sit in there all day and just
ruin any chance they haven't.

Speaker 2 (02:16):
Making it better. Yeah, than getting out and getting ready
to leave.

Speaker 4 (02:22):
I left like four times, four separate times of the negotiation,
and even to the point where like they called me
that I had one guy, I was thirty minutes away, right,
I drove up and he called Me's like, you know,
can I have you come back? I said, no chance.
I was like, I told you final offer. You didn't
take me seriously. Now I'm moving on.

Speaker 3 (02:43):
Dang.

Speaker 4 (02:44):
Yeah, you feel because because I want that person for
the rest of their life to be like, man, if
I just would have agreed, dude like that price instead
of trying to get a little bit greedy a little
bit more, I'm like, yep, you could have had the sale.

Speaker 3 (02:59):
Now you don't.

Speaker 2 (03:00):
Yeah, I'm gonna take that ahole. The problem is the
problem is when you're driving around in a car that's
coming up on twenty years, I know I'm gonna be
having that you.

Speaker 3 (03:10):
You got no leverage. They look at you, they're like,
you know what, you see what you pulled up?

Speaker 2 (03:16):
Listen, buddy, don't tell us you got something better than
the parking lot we saw that produce.

Speaker 3 (03:21):
Because we're gonna do you write us check.

Speaker 5 (03:23):
Okay, Yeah, this is our final offer to you, sir.

Speaker 2 (03:29):
You're driving around at a time bomb kidding near.

Speaker 3 (03:34):
Does that thing clearing mission.

Speaker 5 (03:38):
Let me take you back here and show you one
of our older models that just isn't as old as yours.

Speaker 3 (03:44):
That's a good point.

Speaker 4 (03:44):
You're actually getting fined for whatever emissions it's it's admitting
it's so old.

Speaker 2 (03:49):
Yeah, well you know you should be fine.

Speaker 5 (03:52):
Oh the damn New York Knicks's w a gag job.

Speaker 2 (03:58):
What happened there?

Speaker 5 (03:59):
They were all there in the next round seconds that somehow.

Speaker 2 (04:05):
Yeah, that was a bad loss, man, that and that
place was ready to celebrate. They were ready to just
I mean, we're done with Philly. This is a big win.
It's a brand new era of Knicks basketball. And they
go out and crap themselves with under a minute left.
That was awful. Fun environment though.

Speaker 5 (04:23):
It was a fun environment, And you know, I don't
I don't think that this means really too much for
Philadelphia and in terms of what happens next. But I
mean it is what it is, right they they've turned
it somewhat into a series and and and for what

(04:43):
it's worth. You know, you got to think about what
that what that means for the Knicks as they move forward.
You know, it's an extra game, you know, and those
extra games start to in theory, maybe take a toll
on you as you go and you know, into the
later rounds. But listen, bruntson was bruntsing the rest of

(05:05):
the gang. They they gotta you know, they got to
do more. They got to do more, and you know,
give credit to the Sixers. They did what they needed
to do. Maxi is a beast. I mean he puts
it down and be what you know, obviously he's not
healthy and he's not you know where he needs to be.
But he did give him sixteen rebounds. Bro, he had

(05:28):
a triple double, crushed it with assists. So I mean
he picked up the slack the way that he needed to.
And he draws the defenses to him because of his size.
So if I'll say this, if if if the Knicks,
if the Knicks aren't careful it could turn into a

(05:49):
series and then it really is bad for him. But
I don't see I don't foresee that taking place. But hey,
you know, you just never know.

Speaker 2 (05:58):
I'm with you.

Speaker 4 (06:00):
That's one of those who look back on you go.
We were up six with twenty eight seconds left. How
does that blue that game to make the series three
to two, and all of a sudden, Philly has this
momentum the next two games.

Speaker 3 (06:13):
I don't know.

Speaker 2 (06:14):
I mean, at least still go over well in New
York with that fan base. If they do, if they
do choke away this series, that'll be fun, I would
I would also like to point out.

Speaker 5 (06:23):
Here you have to say that they're used to it though,
especially Knicks fans, liquorbuckers. You know, they let them get away,
you know.

Speaker 2 (06:30):
By the way. I think somebody was pointing out also
it was Reggie Miller on the call last night.

Speaker 3 (06:34):
I think Reggie Miller, well, there you go. So you
think he put his hands around his neck.

Speaker 2 (06:40):
That's still one of the most amazing comebacks I've ever seen.
Eddie's literally telling the crowd. Eddie's telling Spike Lee, you're choking, choking,
And I think what was they They were out down
ten with like fifty seconds left or something like that,
and he's single handedly, you know, had Indiana winning that game.
But it should be pointed out though that for you know,

(07:01):
all the all the disrespect that the great John Calipari
has gotten. You know, Tyrese Maxie, that's a Calipari product,
and all those years of tutoring and development and coaching
from John Calipari has led him to this moment where
he's been one of the best players in the postseason.
Just a dominant performance last night, and I'm happy for him.
And if you're an Arkansas basketball fan, and there's a

(07:22):
lot of those that listen to this show, I know
that for sure, you've got to be thrilled with what
you were able to obtain.

Speaker 5 (07:29):
Maxie's and all kinds of you know, Anthony Davis is
coming your way, telling you man, you know, I'm.

Speaker 3 (07:37):
Just not gonna comment. I'm not I'm not going to.

Speaker 5 (07:40):
I know what you guys are doing. What not going
to Arkans. I'm not going. I'm not going to, not
going to. I'm not going to.

Speaker 2 (07:51):
What you mean, just we just want to celebrate John
Calipari and just sort of the impact he's had on
the NBA.

Speaker 3 (07:56):
I mean that's what he's told you guys.

Speaker 5 (07:58):
He is getting them ready for the league and they
they will do like they've what they've done, like a
billion dollars worth of contracts and player contracts from his kids.
I mean, I'm saying, you want to be a millionaire,
go go play for Cali Perry.

Speaker 3 (08:12):
You know. There you go.

Speaker 5 (08:13):
Yeah, that's some move at Kentucky. You know wait, I
mean at Arkansas.

Speaker 2 (08:19):
You know, Joel Embiide is not anywhere close to being healthy. Dude, No, No,
Like he looks.

Speaker 3 (08:26):
Need is sore. It looks like it's collapsing. It looks inflated,
doesn't it.

Speaker 5 (08:30):
Yeah, like it's going to collapse, like go to the inside,
like he's gonna go knock Need off of this is.
You gotta be careful. It's like it's like what it's like,
will you jack that finger up? And it starts to
like look all kind of weird and do crazy things
that he better be cared. He better put a splint

(08:52):
on that is. They better put a splint on that leg.
It started to look like a finger.

Speaker 2 (09:00):
I think I think Nick Nurse, the seventy six ers coach,
jacked up his finger. I saw that. I think he
might have broken his finger because he was upset with
a call. So you've got him with a busted up
finger and Chris Finch.

Speaker 3 (09:11):
Coach the other day. Yeah, he ran over, got.

Speaker 2 (09:14):
His leg ripped off, and then you know you're seeing
all this stuff play out. I just is knocked nea.
Is that what Kenny Smith is? Is that what they
always busted?

Speaker 3 (09:24):
I got? That is like the worst case of knock
need Yeah, yeah, how does that happen?

Speaker 2 (09:29):
I don't know knee injuries.

Speaker 5 (09:32):
That's heredity. He's already he's always been built like that.
You know, they might have sunk in a little bit.

Speaker 3 (09:38):
More, but.

Speaker 2 (09:41):
That was in the slam dunk contest.

Speaker 3 (09:43):
Yeah, maybe that was what did it.

Speaker 2 (09:45):
With knock knees, I don't know.

Speaker 3 (09:47):
Maybe, you know, we don't know they was knocked.

Speaker 5 (09:50):
I remember I used to always be like, man like
he's got you know, his knees are knocking, but he's good,
Like he's quick, he can you know.

Speaker 3 (10:00):
He's good.

Speaker 2 (10:01):
But well he did when he ran to the board, uh,
because they've been digging him. So he pretended to spill
his coffee cup and thought he had one over on
him and he fell when he was going to the
steps to the board.

Speaker 3 (10:15):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (10:15):
Uh. And then because they're doing the NHL the other
studio shack and those guys are always over there trying
to get on skates and uh and and take the
stick that it's it's the best show, best set up,
best lineup as.

Speaker 3 (10:29):
Well as they don't care at all.

Speaker 5 (10:31):
I think that that's why our show works, because we
just don't care if we could be on here, you know,
being so tight and so into this, that and the other.
We just we just have fun. You know, you can't
care too much if you're going to have a good show,
because people don't want to be too serious.

Speaker 3 (10:48):
You know, I don't. I'm too serious if you if
you're listening to us for seriousness, I don't tell you. Yeah,
it's not gonna end.

Speaker 5 (10:54):
Well, we'll give you a little bit, you know. That
will give you a little bit. They'll they'll they'll show
you the intelligence. They will show you that IQ. Like
when we need IQ, we go to Q. That's why
you're cute, you know, you put the Q and IQ
you know.

Speaker 3 (11:08):
What I mean.

Speaker 5 (11:08):
But when you want to live your slappies, you want
the slappies aspect of it.

Speaker 3 (11:13):
You come hang with Jonas and me. You know, we
give you the slappies, right.

Speaker 5 (11:17):
The slappy jappies. Yeah, whoa WHOA hold on, I don't know.
I don't even know what that meant.

Speaker 3 (11:24):
I don't know either.

Speaker 2 (11:24):
Go ahead, all right, but hey listen, I do know
that we have got a full show here coming up
until nine am Eastern time, six o'clock Pacific. Now it
should be noted that if you are a big fan
of the Petros Papadeka's appearances every Wednesday, he is not
going to be with us today because he was with
us yesterday. So Petros was with us yesterday, and you
know he was. I think he was a little bit

(11:46):
of nooy towards the end because we kept pointing out
that he was getting nailed by the King Lebron James,
So I think he was. If you want to Petros
with the cass, he can check that out. But we
do have another edition of in case you missed it.
We've also got to hear midweek awards and we're going
to close up shop with the BQ News here as

(12:07):
we do per usual on a windy all the guy.

Speaker 1 (12:14):

Speaker 6 (12:28):
Hey, this is Tom Berducci from Fox Sports, MLB Network
and Sports Illustrated, and.

Speaker 5 (12:33):
I'm Joe Madden, and we're going to be around to
talk a little bit about managerial decisions and what may
have occurred to the dugout maybe in the nineteen eighties.

Speaker 6 (12:40):
It's the Book of Joe podcasts. I can't wait for this, Joe.
We're going to dive into what goes on in the
dugout and behind the scenes in Major League Baseball.

Speaker 3 (12:47):
Cars, wind whatever else we want to talk about.

Speaker 6 (12:49):
Yeah, well, there are no boundaries, right. Listen to the
Book of Joe podcast on the iHeartRadio app, on Apple
Podcasts or wherever you get your podcasts.

Speaker 2 (12:57):
By the way, I was doing a little bit of
research during the break the bee Keeper. The bee Keeper
movie that Lee loved and Brady hated. It's awful ninety
two percent on Rotten Tomatoes. That's got to be the
audience score. Yeah, I don't know, i'd what's the difference?

Speaker 3 (13:15):
Just a big difference.

Speaker 2 (13:17):
Yeah, the critics.

Speaker 7 (13:18):
The critics is probably thirty forty.

Speaker 2 (13:20):
I'd assume how would I find that we must protect
the hive? Oh no, main Lee, how would I find
that I'm on it because I'm seeing seventy one percent,
I'm seeing ninety two percent as two different scores.

Speaker 7 (13:35):
Well, then seventy one is the critic and ninety two
is the audience. I mean, listen, that's that's amazing, that
it's that that's solid, that's amazing.

Speaker 3 (13:44):
I don't know, it was an awful movie.

Speaker 2 (13:47):
That is amazing that it's seventy one percent. It is
objectively an awful movie. But me, you just said you
liked it.

Speaker 7 (13:54):
It's there's some things that like a cult classic is
so bad it's good. For instance, it's The Room. I mean,
there's a lot of examples out there. We were laughing,
I mean, me and Todd were at the theater just
laughing our asses off.

Speaker 5 (14:06):
Like Demo. Y'all ever see the movie Gumo? Yeah, yeah, yeah,
that's like the dumbest movie ever. But it was a
cult classic. Like you just like, it was like so dumb,
but you know, and it took place in Ohio Q.

Speaker 3 (14:21):
By the way, I believe.

Speaker 5 (14:22):
Xenia where the tornadoes the tornado hit or whatever and
jacked up the city, and it was it was it
was like a weird movie. It was on if you
ever watched the movie Belly with DMX and NAS and
all them guys, it had the one scene where they
were at the dude's house and it was on. It
was dem Mex's house in fact, and it had the

(14:42):
movie on. It's like, man, this is some tripped out
type stuff right here, like what is this? And the
movie was somebody found I think my older brother found
out about the movie and found it at like in
the like the bows of a blockbuster, and we watched
that joint and then it turned out like it was

(15:03):
so dumb. It was so horribly bad, but we watched
it like it was like they were going around collecting
cats or something like that. I don't know, man, it
was a wild movie. But it's like kind of like
that look up Gumbo. It's a tripped out movie, man,
you know, especially especially if you're on that Aaron Rodgers time.

Speaker 2 (15:23):
So I'm showing here the Beekeeper cost The budget was
forty million, and the box office was one hundred and
fifty two.

Speaker 3 (15:33):
You watched Gumbo.

Speaker 5 (15:35):
Right, it's like one of the most tripped out movies ever.

Speaker 3 (15:39):
Bro, you're looking it up crazy. I'm just looking at
the pictures right now. It's like, what, yeah, what did
you watch this for? Bill Rabbit?

Speaker 2 (15:50):
Why is he shaving his eyebrows?

Speaker 3 (15:53):
Bruh.

Speaker 5 (15:53):
It's a wild movie, man, It's all tell you got
you got so much going on. You got the brothers
over here, they're they're hits. They like like do weird stuff.
You got the sister and the brother over here. I
think the sister is like, she's like, you watched for Derby,
didn't you? Huh you watched for Darby Doherty? No, I

(16:13):
wouldn't have known anybody in the movie by any name
or anything.

Speaker 3 (16:17):
It was bruh. You watch it? It's tripped out?

Speaker 2 (16:21):
Is it like Clerk's movie Clerks?

Speaker 3 (16:24):
I never heard of Clerk.

Speaker 2 (16:25):
You've never seen never heard of Clerk? Oh my god, No,
watch Clerks. You gotta watch thirty seven, you gotta.

Speaker 5 (16:36):
I mean, why did I have to say reaction to Gummo?
You haven't seen Gumo yet? Because you've never heard of Gumo.

Speaker 2 (16:44):
Because there's some weirdo shave in his eyebrows, and there's
another guy sitting another kid sitting with rabbit ears on
a freeway overpass, like I just I wouldn't imagine, you know,
I'm just looking at some of the pictures. It's very strange.
Clerks though, I feel like Clerk's has a little bit
more well known than Gummo. But maybe listen, Gumbo though,

(17:05):
seventy three percent of.

Speaker 3 (17:06):
Rotten Tomatoes, So how about that.

Speaker 2 (17:09):
Yeah, see, Lebar's onto something, all.

Speaker 5 (17:12):
Right, So you got to watch it one day, just
on your and tell me if you made it at first,
if you made it through the movie, and then if
you made it through the movie where you like, this
movie was so horrible that I had to actually watch
the entire movie there you go, just to.

Speaker 3 (17:27):
See if it got worse, just to see it.

Speaker 2 (17:30):
Yeah, well we do know this. Gummo, Clerks, the bee Keeper,
all of it subjective, subjective. What's not subjective is that
teams did make picks in the NFL Draft, and quarterbacks
ended up places. Caleb Williams in Chicago, Jade and Daniels

(17:50):
in Washington, Drake Mays in New England, Michael pennix Is
in Atlanta, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera, and so
these quarterbacks found landing spots. But what's interesting now is
when you look back afterwards, how things could have gone
differently if a couple of moves had been made. According
to Mike Reese of ESPN, the Giants and Vikings both

(18:11):
made offers to the Patriots to acquire the third pick.
The Giants apparently offered the number six pick in the
draft and their first round pick next year. The Patriots passed.
The Vikings offered numbers eleven and twenty three in this
year's draft and their first next year for number three
and two mid round picks, and the Patriots passed. So

(18:33):
it tells me that the Patriots were really in on
Drake May. Otherwise the Giants would have made a lot
of sense. You would have gotten an extra first round
pick in return. And it also tells me, just from
the Giant side of things that this whole yeah, we
believe in Daniel Jones, He's going to be our guy,
so on and so forth, they were really trying to
get up there because my guess would be they wanted

(18:55):
Drake May. That was the guy they were targeting. And
so Daniel Jones feels like it's dead man walking going
into New York this year and what looks to be
his final year with the Giants. So it's kind of
interesting to see how things could have gone differently had
New England decided all right, maybe we're not sold on
the quarterback class. Maybe we're not sold and getting a
quarterback here. We could go ahead and move back and

(19:16):
compile some picks and acquire some picks, and now the
Giants go into this next season. As much as Joe
Shane wants to say it and everybody wants to be,
you know, all supportive of Daniel Jones, feels like, you know,
there's potential that Daniel Jones maybe isn't the guy when
the season is. By the time we're get to the
end of the season, he couldn't be the guy in
New York.

Speaker 4 (19:34):
There's the why are you focusing on just Daniel Jones. Well,
there's a McCarthy's team who drafted him, try to move
up and they weren't moving up to take him.

Speaker 2 (19:44):
It's been sae okay, And that's that was my next question.
Why do you think the Vikings Because the way it's
been presented, they love JJ McCarthy, loved JJ McCarthy, He
wanted to go there. It was a perfect match. It
was he outside of Caleb Williams. Was JJ McCarthy their
number one target? Or do you think they would have

(20:05):
gone up and gotten Drake May.

Speaker 4 (20:06):
I think that's who they're going up to get. They
moved up one spot to get JJ. I mean, do
you think they'd really run the risk of having him
go to the New York Giants. I mean, maybe they
called the Chargers. They would want to, you know, charge
they want to trade back, But that's not what this
report says. It's specifically talking about the Patriots at three.

Speaker 3 (20:31):
So I guess the thought would be if they offered
the Patriots.

Speaker 4 (20:35):
I'm sure they called the Chargers, but the Chargers might
not wanted to, so they had to sit and watch
the New York Giants, you know, potentially.

Speaker 3 (20:43):
Take a quarterback, which they didn't.

Speaker 4 (20:45):
So I think what's more interesting about this is it
points to the fact that each of these teams associated
Drake May with a greater value than JJ McCarthy. Because
the Giants could have taken McCarthy, did they take neighbors?

Speaker 3 (21:01):
Now they're stuck with Daniel Jones for another year, and
in the.

Speaker 4 (21:04):
Case of the Vikings, they liked him enough to draft him,
but only move up one spot to make sure they
would get him before someone else potentially leap frog him
after the Atlanta Falcons surprisingly picked Michael Pennix.

Speaker 5 (21:15):
There you go, That's what it was to get JJ
McCarthy was a reactionary piece to the fact that it's like, whoa,
like what just happened here? Like we can't take any chances. So,
I mean, I don't know how they're going to make
JJ McCarthy feel about the whole thing based off of

(21:36):
what you just asked Jonas. I mean, I'm pretty sure
it was Drake may or jayde and Daniels that they
were anticipating they were going to get a hold of.
But JJ McCarthy was considered to be the last one
outside of bo Nicks, which, again, when I was talking

(21:58):
to Jay, it's sounded is though, you know, Sean Payton
was sold on the car, sold on a vote Nix, right,
and so he was sitting in the cut regardless because
he felt as though that's the guy that he's gonna
get out to me. The question becomes where you sold
on him because you knew that was the only pair

(22:20):
of shoes on the wall. That had your size right, Like,
I'm gonna wait here, I'm gonna go get my shoes.
Everybody about the other sneakers bottom up, can't get them,
you know whatever, This is the one I know I
probably have the best opportunity to get. And that's what
It's a dangerous word to say, but maybe it is.

(22:41):
I feel like there might have been more than one
team that had to do this as well. They settled.
Did you settle on the fact that this is the
best I was gonna be able to do and hopefully
I can get this quarterback at this point in time,
And there's a strong possibility that I know I might
sound crazy, but Minnesota had to settle for JJ McCarthy.

Speaker 3 (23:05):
Like that just is what it is. I think this
is what this is detailing. I'm not even so sure.

Speaker 4 (23:10):
I'd love to know what they felt about or how
they felt about Michael Pennix.

Speaker 2 (23:13):
I was just gonna ask that, like, how, like where
do you think did it landa like Michael Pennix so
much more than everybody else? Or if Michael Penick was
there and sitting there with JJ McCarthy, would Minnesota have
still taken McCarthy over Pennix?

Speaker 4 (23:28):
Yeah, I mean, we don't know that answer, but definitively
we know from the Charles Robinson piece that they had
Penex's number two on their board as a top four prospect.

Speaker 5 (23:38):
Yep, they liked him that much. They liked him that
much where they could not pass him up.

Speaker 3 (23:44):
That was I was explained.

Speaker 2 (23:46):
So yeah, I mean, so basically, Kayleb Williams was number
one on everybody's board, and then after that it was like.

Speaker 5 (23:54):
Not everybody's board, not everybody. William's number one lost us.
I just don't you know, I don't know, hold on
if everybody's everybody, I don't know too much.

Speaker 3 (24:10):
I find it.

Speaker 2 (24:11):
I find it hard to believe that if the Raiders
were sitting there with the option that they still would
have taken Jade and Daniels over Kleb Williams.

Speaker 3 (24:20):
Like, you're not going to bait me? What do you
mean You're not going to bait me? Jonas?

Speaker 5 (24:24):
I just know this, as Jay Glazer, J Glazer tell you,
like they they that's the look that's my go to
right now, as J.

Speaker 3 (24:34):
They wanted Jayden Daniels. What sounds like, what sounds.

Speaker 2 (24:40):
Like if you're JJ McCarthy, do you see stuff like
this and go, well, damn, like, what do you are?

Speaker 3 (24:49):
You?

Speaker 2 (24:49):
Just like, now, listen, I've got Justin Jefferson, I've got
Kevin O'Connell. I wanted to be here, and I'm gonna
make this thing work because if this is it, you know,
if we're believing that this is accurate. Although I would
say the the only thing that doesn't make sense to
me on the reporting of this, and it's not that
you know, Mark Maski is you know, gave out bad information.
He's just reporting what he was to. I'm sorry, Mike

(25:10):
Reese didn't give out bad information. This is just what
he was told. Didn't Glazer say during the draft because
I was listening that the intent was never for Minnesota
to give up that twenty third pick like that. That
wasn't really part of the discussion for them. That they
were willing to give up the eleventh pick, but the
twenty third pick they wanted to keep. They weren't looking

(25:31):
to deal both picks, and that's why they were able
to keep the twenty third move up and then take
you know, the defensive end out of Alabama. I just
wonder that's where I wonder how much of this is
accurate because that was something I think Laser said on
the on the FSR Draft broadcast that they weren't planning
on giving up that pick because they still wanted to
be able to make some moves in the first round

(25:53):
outside of the quarterback.

Speaker 3 (25:54):
So what part of this report are you questioning the
accuracy of.

Speaker 2 (25:58):
The fact that the eleven the twenty third pick were
included to move up and next year's first.

Speaker 4 (26:05):
That's a lot I think in order to get Drake May.
I think it was probably accurate.

Speaker 2 (26:09):
So Drake May was their one JJ McCarthy.

Speaker 4 (26:14):
I think they they at that point they probably had
him as their two and they wanted him about to
take it.

Speaker 2 (26:20):
And you know what, you know what sucks about this
whole thing. So Drake May was more coveted than JJ
McCarthy and he ended up in a worse spot yep.

Speaker 5 (26:28):
Like JJ McCarthy ends up in pretty much the best
spot out of all of them.

Speaker 2 (26:33):
Yes, he was like who they settled for it. He
had to get to.

Speaker 5 (26:39):
New England, Like what the bloody hell, what the what
what the what what the what is this?

Speaker 2 (26:47):
That's what the people when people talk about like, oh,
so and so he's a boss he's this, and that's like, dude,
how many more examples of situation dictates success? A lot
of times? Do you need before you go? Yeah? Man,
like you can't like like brock Party was mister irrelevant
and he ended up in a great situation. It's just
you know, so now you're JJ McCarthy and you're sitting

(27:09):
there going all right, So I was, you know, fifth
off the board, and I ended up in possibly the
best spot amongst all these guys. And so the ware
we go. It is Two Pros and a Cup of
Joe here on Fox Sports Radio and listen. It's a
lot of what ifs, but dude, it beats a lot
of the other stuff out there we got to talk about. So,
uh is what it is? Either that we could break
down the magic Cap series.

Speaker 3 (27:28):
That was a bad segment at all.

Speaker 2 (27:30):
No, it's just you know, it's like somebody.

Speaker 3 (27:32):
Felt like that was a bad segment. They can kick rocks.

Speaker 5 (27:36):
Yeah without a steel toe boot on, that's yeah, beerfoot yeah,
no sock straight toe nails.

Speaker 3 (27:43):
Take that there. You go take that hard too.

Speaker 1 (27:46):
Be sure to catch live editions of Two Pros and
a Cup of Joe with Brady Quinn LeVar Errington and
Jonas Knox weekdays at six am Eastern three am Pacific.

Speaker 2 (27:57):
If you were anticipating a big playoff game coming up
later on tonight for the Los Angeles Lakers, yeah, that's
not happening now. Lebron did provide a little bit of
an update yesterday. I don't know if you guys saw,
but he did point out and say that he's heard
a lot of speculation about Well, I'll just read the
tweet and we'll let you know and get your thoughts

(28:20):
on this. I've seen heard a lot of reports about
my future. I said it last night and I'll say
it again or do I do not know yet, as
I'm only thinking about spending time with my family and friends.
When I know, after speaking with the fam, my counsel,
as well as my representatives about it, then you guys
will know. Until then, sh love the King with a

(28:41):
king emoji a well with a king no king emoji,
you know, because that was meant for him When you
got your iPhone, people didn't know that that that king
emoji was meant for Lebron James. So that's the update
for you in the Lakerland. But there is the also
some potential because we don't know where Lebron's going to

(29:02):
end up. He could end up going somewhere else. He's
moved around, you know, a couple of times in his career.
One guy that did move around was DeVante Adams, who
decided to leave Green Bay and he ended up in
Las Vegas. And apparently Davante Adams, you know, did not
anticipate that Green Bay would end up with a better

(29:23):
quarterback situation then the Las Vegas Raiders, as DeVante Adams
spoke with The Rush podcast about what he's seen from
Jordan Love now that he's in Las Vegas on the
other side of the league.

Speaker 8 (29:39):
At the time when I was there, I hadn't necessarily
seen enough to say this is for sure what I
should do. But in hindsight, like we talked about, I
mean a kid all the man, I'm so happy for him,
and you know, I haven't really had a chance to
truly sit down and talk with him, but I just
I want to tell him at some point, like you know,
I definitely don't regret changing, but I'm super proud of

(30:00):
you've done.

Speaker 3 (30:00):
And you know, if there was a way I could
pull you over here.

Speaker 8 (30:03):
And you know and drag you with me like that.
You know that would have been cool too, because you know,
obviously we saw what he did at the end of
the year. But I don't regret what I did. But
at the same time, it's definitely you look back on
and you're like, damn, that woke out the ball.

Speaker 3 (30:16):
Could he be the next one? Could he be? I mean,
I think he is.

Speaker 8 (30:19):
I think he's shown that he's starting to come into
his own and you can see the way he's talking
in front of the media and everything. It's just like
a whole different person than what I saw when I
was there, and that comes with experience.

Speaker 2 (30:29):
So that was Devanta Adams talking about the development and
growth of One Jordan Love in Green Bay, and look,
I know he doesn't regret it. I just think and
I felt like this for a little over a year,
what he thought he was getting in Las Vegas has
not been anywhere close to what he got. Derek Carr

(30:50):
was a good friend of his, and Derek Carr's gone,
and I feel like he maybe feels like he's been
a little bit let down by the organization. But that
being said, he's been fantastictick the past couple of years.
It's just they've been a bad team and it's kind
of kind of noticed a little bit.

Speaker 4 (31:04):
Well, you know, he went there too for the contract.
I think he went there as well to be closer
to home and.

Speaker 3 (31:12):
Obviously a pairp is with Derek carrs.

Speaker 4 (31:14):
You talked about, But there was also an element I
think Devant Adams wanted to prove that it's it wasn't
just Aaron Rodgers. You know, he could leave an all
time great like Aaron Rodgers and still be a really
good wide receiver, a Pro Bowl caliber wide receiver. And
he's proven that to be one of the best despite
not having Aaron Rodgers as his quarterback.

Speaker 3 (31:35):
Now this year will get a little bit tougher.

Speaker 4 (31:36):
I mean, as of now they're going on with either
Aden O'Connell or Gardner Minshew. But regardless, I mean, he's
a hell of a player. I don't know that You've
always have regrets like that because you can only make
the decisions using the information that you have at that time.
You know, you didn't know Jordan Love was going to
turn out to be this type of player. You didn't

(31:58):
know that Derek Carr is going to end up right,
You didn't know all these things would transpire, so you
can't really look back on it in hindsight and go, ah, man,
I wish I would have done this or this or that.
I mean, he didn't have the ability to see into
the future. But I think this is more maybe telling
two of the tale of Jordan Love and just when

(32:20):
you've got a young player, then I think most people
would probably agree. When he came into the league, he
was coming off not a great season his final year
in college football. Two years prior he had played phenomenal.
It's one of the reasons why he had a lot
of first round a discussion about his play and ability,
but he needed time and very similar to Aaron Rodgers

(32:42):
sitting behind Brett farre Jordan loves sat Pin and Aaron
Rodgers and it's worked out extremely well. You were starting
to see a case where guys have been able to
sit and watch for at least a year or maybe
a couple and it's worked out well for them. And
it goes back again to the logic of what the
Atlanta Falcons were trying to do in the near term

(33:04):
and long term with Kirk Cousins and Michael Pennix, and
it's probably gonna bode well for them, and again received
a lot of criticism for their move in the draft
this year and then signing Kirk Cousins a huge contract.
But if you don't have a quarterback, you don't really
have a shot. They know that better than anyone else
based in the last few years. That's not a problem anymore.

Speaker 3 (33:26):
So.

Speaker 4 (33:26):
I like the fact that you know, Devanta Adams is
even able to notice the maturity and the growth for
Jordan Love and I think for all of us out
there who've watched him, he does seem like a different player,
different person. He does seem much more confident, much more
I guess, I want to say outspoken, but like stepping

(33:46):
into the role of being the leader now, like he's
demonstrated that and especially with the way he played that
the second half of last season, and it made all.

Speaker 3 (33:54):
The sense in the world.

Speaker 5 (33:55):
If a kid has enough patience to go through that process,
I almost feel like that's how it's always supposed to
have been. You know, so many times we think that
you have to equate success and failure with immediate immediate results.
In terms of I'm the starter, day one starter. This

(34:18):
is a day one guy. Day one day one. He
was ready earlier. It's like we created this falseified narrative
that you're inferior if you're not the guy day one,
Like this false this false narrative that maybe you're not
as good as as people thought you were, or you're

(34:40):
a bust, or you're whatever it may be. And there's
all this type of pressure. So when people sit there
and say, oh, it's it's crazy to me how you
could do what you're doing as Green Bay with your
quarterbacks three times? Well, seemingly it could be three times
in a row. It's actually two times in a row.

(35:02):
But it's one of those those things like like in Pittsburgh,
it's like, how does Pittsburgh always seem to have these
linebackers that end up being really really good linebackers. Different
things like that, Like it's because they don't play. They
don't play for a while and eventually they get it.

(35:25):
If you look up the timeline of James Harrison, it'll
blow you away, like, wait, this is a Hall of
Famer short fire, look at his career path.

Speaker 2 (35:36):
Well you see the videos now of him and his kids,
Like he basically challenges his kids to try and get
him down, and he just man handles them.

Speaker 5 (35:44):
He's a strong dude, brou but the idea of having
like there's this thing called like true development, Like like
you know that there used to be a rule in
college where freshmen weren't even allowed to participate in the
varsity sports, like they had to get acclimated to being wait,

(36:07):
god forbid, hold on, here we go a student at
the college level, like you weren't even allowed to play.

Speaker 3 (36:17):
And now we live in a day and age, the.

Speaker 5 (36:20):
Microwave day and age, where everybody wants a finished product quick,
they want it right now. So to see that Jordan
Love has learned from Aaron Rodgers during his course of
time in in Green Bay and it finally gets the

(36:41):
opportunity to take over and play. He saw a lot
of games, he saw a lot of football, found a
way to maintain his you know, his fire for the
game because it doesn't always work out that way. There
were other guys that were drafted that, you know, possibly
like the kid out of UCLA.

Speaker 3 (37:02):
I thought that he might have been a guy that.

Speaker 5 (37:03):
Could have ended up transitioning in but it didn't work.
I forget his name, but it's just to me when
when they drafted Love as high as they did, that said, Okay,
this is the handwriting on the wall. He got his
opportunity to listen and learn and figure things out.

Speaker 3 (37:22):
And there's a relationship aspect of it as well. You
built relationship with guys.

Speaker 5 (37:28):
They see you in practice, you see them on an
everyday basis. There's something to having the ability and the
opportunity and time to develop talent, and that's something you
generally don't see in the pro level. In fact now
because of the NIL and the transfer portal and different
things like that, you're not necessarily going to see that

(37:50):
at the college ranks either.

Speaker 2 (37:52):
You need kind to say you need opportunity, right, You
need some opportunity and you need somebody to give you
a chance, which is why if you're Devonte Adams, don't
have regrets that you're not with Jordan Love anymore. All right,
look at the fact that you're going to get to
play with Minshew Mania and if he gets the chance
over Aidan O'Connell, damn right. And I don't know if
he's still got that that r V or whatever he

(38:14):
was driving around, because I know he was doing that.
But he'll show up to Las Vegas and a pair
of jeorts. He'll walk down the Las Vegas Strip. Yeah, listen,
And and Gardner Minshew doesn't even wear the georts that
are designed to be Georgs. He's got a pair ge
he's got got a hole on the knees and he
just cut them there and says, I'll go with these.

(38:35):
And so now he's going to go out and start
slinging it to DeVonta Adams. And DeVonta Adams is going
to have another no you know what I mean, the football.

Speaker 3 (38:41):
I mean, you've been going all the way the football.

Speaker 2 (38:45):
I hate him, but he's gonna DeVonta Adams is gonna
edit with another one hundred catch season. And I do.
I do also think Antonio Peers being named head coach.
I think that made a lot of people there feel
better about things because Max Crossby and Davante Adams are
two of the most vocal about maybe not being pleased

(39:05):
with what was happening with Josh McDaniels. So as much
as Davante Adams looks at it and goes, man, this
is not what I signed up for, Antonio Pierce does
kind of feel like he's kind of righted the ship
there as far as you know, excitement for those guys
wanting to be in Las Vegas. So your guy Ap
getting it done there, LeVar. People feel good about things.

Speaker 5 (39:27):
I mean he's generated a lot of excitement. I mean
all you look no further than the way he did
that little you know, what is the thing you rev
up at the hockey game? I mean he gave it
a whole lot of energy, a whole lot of life
when he revved it up, you know what I mean.
It wasn't like he was tired or anything like that.

(39:47):
It was a whole lot of energy.

Speaker 2 (39:49):
What time does Ap wake up to get prepared and
like do his coach stuff, like maybe gets a workout
in what time we talking about? Would you say in
Las Vegas?

Speaker 3 (40:00):
You ask right now? Is that what you're asking?

Speaker 2 (40:03):
You know? What do you think bar Maye get him on?

Speaker 3 (40:08):
I mean I could call him and ask him.

Speaker 2 (40:10):
Yeah, see if we could, uh, let me call him,
No not saying now.

Speaker 3 (40:15):
Call him and ask. I mean, I'm gonna hit him
up right now.

Speaker 2 (40:18):
Let me see see. But if you're calling him at
this time in the morning, it's five fifteen, you know
he's probably gonna be upset. Old.

Speaker 3 (40:26):
Let's see.

Speaker 2 (40:28):
Yeah, let's see what we got here. This is good
stuff right here. He bought that down, So we don't
give his number out of what.

Speaker 3 (40:38):
You mean, I'm not going to leave it up there
for it to say, isn't okay?

Speaker 2 (40:42):
I don't know, just making sure. There have been some
people who have screwed up and given out actual numbers
on the air before. Rob Parker gave out the calling
number and gave out his own cell phone number on
the air.

Speaker 3 (40:55):
Yeah, I could see Rob doing He's that's great.

Speaker 2 (41:00):
I've done it more than once.

Speaker 3 (41:02):
Hold on, hold on, let's try this one.

Speaker 2 (41:04):
Hold on, man, this is the office number.

Speaker 3 (41:10):
Let's see. That's one ring.

Speaker 2 (41:11):
He's sweet of. Mark Davis answered.

Speaker 5 (41:23):
See that's how y'all know. That's mumped up my dog
right there. I just I just put you on speaker phone.
You're on national radio right now. I'd say a p
is up working right now, and I'm gonna call him.
I'm gonna prove it to y'all.

Speaker 3 (41:35):
He's up. I love you, bro. There you go. I
love you man. I'm gonna hit you up later, all right,
there you go. The head coaching job in the NFL
is not for the fant of heart. And he's up.
They're all like you you go around the league, man,

(41:55):
they're up, they're working, they're so good. You got to
work to be the king.

Speaker 5 (42:04):
Now that they said you wasn't with me in the gym,
he's probably not up as a Lebron But no, he's
the Kang.

Speaker 3 (42:12):
Yeah, he's an off season though it's just basketball too.

Speaker 2 (42:16):
But that and last night was Taco Tuesday, and you
know it.

Speaker 5 (42:19):
Was and he's got an official like he's got it,
like you know, his invention.

Speaker 3 (42:24):
He's a Taco bell guy now Taco Tuesday.

Speaker 4 (42:28):
I remember one time people were giving him flak for
having some wine with his tacos. And I'll say this,
I tried it once. It was pretty damn good, So
I'm not I'm not gonna criticize. Do you think that
until you have some Barberacoa, you have some, you have some.
I don't know something about it, man, the flavors, they work,
it works together.

Speaker 3 (42:47):
Man, I'm telling you, well, I don't know.

Speaker 2 (42:50):
It's a single to my weekend coming up. I can't
imagine there's a lot of Rex Goliath with LPAs store
tacos that are going to be fired up by the
Canelos fighting this weekend. Good fight, you.

Speaker 3 (43:01):
Know, yeah, I just got.

Speaker 4 (43:06):
Dido fights like every other month.

Speaker 5 (43:09):
No, he didn't just fight. He was the last fight
he beat up on. Watched one of the twins run
away from him.

Speaker 2 (43:16):
The Charlo.

Speaker 3 (43:17):
Yeah, Charlot, that was a bad fight. It was February.

Speaker 5 (43:21):
People got mad at me, like, you don't understand boxing.

Speaker 3 (43:24):
You're you're you're beginner. Shut your mouth, shut your face.

Speaker 5 (43:28):
Yeah, I know boxing man Charlo, Charlo rand the entire fighter.

Speaker 3 (43:33):
Well, Floyd Mayweather run, he ran his whole entire career, like, yeah,
well you know he beat Canelo run from that pretty good. Yeah.

Speaker 5 (43:46):
Yeah, and he's Mexican. Yeah, so they're both they're both
going they're going both dump. Yeah, so that was a
big thing.

Speaker 2 (43:53):
Mungieah, he's forty three and oh with thirty four knockouts.

Speaker 3 (43:56):
When was his last fight, though, I just gotta sworn
a year ago. No, come on, yeah, I thought he's
fought like within this year. No, not twenty four. Really,
I'm pretty certain, Yeah, pretty certain. I don't know. I
feel like you just fought.

Speaker 2 (44:17):
I don't know my efforting right now. If I need
the exact date on the last fight, Yeah, it was Charlow, Yeah,
September thirtieth, so a few months ago.

Speaker 3 (44:26):
But it feels like you know who the.

Speaker 2 (44:30):
Ref was in that fight, Harvey, No, it's the guy
who was This guy was the ref and the Ryan
Garcia fight, well, a lot of people questioned, basically, I
was helping Devin Haney, so he was trying.

Speaker 5 (44:42):
He was trying to help Charlow's what you're saying. It
ain't helped that fight. I'll tell you that it did.
I guess it didn't help it. The other one either,
it didn't help.

Speaker 3 (44:49):
He either did not
