Speaker 1 (00:10):
For sure.

Speaker 2 (00:11):
It's time from hell.

Speaker 3 (00:15):
Loa loa lo Loo. Welcome to the naughty but nice.
I'm your house row shows. I'm back from London, everybody,
so thank you for all your kind DMS, your messages.
I flew over to London. I did a little bit,
a little bit of King Charles news, but I also
did a lot of time with my family. So it
was brilliant, brilliant to see them. But it is Monday,

(00:35):
I'm back in New York. We have to talk super
Bowl and who are we going to talk it with?
Our dear friend, Garrett Vogel. Hey, Garrett, are you there?

Speaker 1 (00:43):
Bobby?

Speaker 3 (00:43):
Hello?

Speaker 1 (00:43):
Happy birthday to your mom too right?

Speaker 3 (00:46):
Thank you. Mom and dad born on the same day,
one year apart. It's really very lucky because we only
have to throw one party. It's much cheaper. But we
did get two cakes, two cakes and double the balloons.
They had a lovely time. I miss them. As you
get older, family becomes, at least to me, more and
more important. So it's all my brothers and sisters and
like now they're children. Uncle Robert Garrett, can you believe it? Oh? My?

Speaker 1 (01:09):
You know what? You You would be a fun uncle
and a fun.

Speaker 3 (01:12):
Uncle, I'm more like Auntie mayin If the Truth Be
Told than Uncle Robert. But nevertheless, fabulous time. But enough
your sip about my life, my family. I want to
get into the super Bowls. Have got so much to
get to. Are you ready? What time is it?

Speaker 1 (01:24):
My friend time?

Speaker 3 (01:26):
Tea time? Okay. So one of the biggest headlines from
the show for me, because I'm so nosy about people's money,
is who actually paid for that three hundred thousand dollars box.
Now there are some controversy, but the players don't get
good tickets. You would think if you get to the
super Bowl, you'd get an amazing ticket. Recently, Bruce's show
opened on Broadway, and the actual people in the show

(01:49):
don't really get as many tickets as you would think.
So this is the same as the super Bowl. So
they're happy to sell you a box. If you can
afford it, they'll sell you a box. But if you can't,
not going to get a good, good seat. Now, Travis's
mom told Hoder on the Today Show she thought she'd
be in the stands. They didn't know where they were
gonna that's right where they're gonna sit. And then I

(02:09):
reported exclusively on our show that Taylor would not have
that Taylor would buy the box and she would definitely
have his family in it. Well, it turns out now
Travis paid the money, he bought the box. But let
me be a little bit naughty, because we are naughty
but nice. Taylor invited some of her friends, including Blake Lively,
and should Blake have chipped in?

Speaker 2 (02:29):
Well, no, if you're invited to something like that, that
that that's like saying, hey, you want to come to
outer space with me? Like I don't expect you to
pay to go to outer space with me. I expect
you to you know, like, oh, sure, I'll come to
outer space with you.

Speaker 3 (02:42):
That.

Speaker 1 (02:42):
You know what else I noticed too?

Speaker 2 (02:44):
So remember we were talking about the Grimeys just last week,
how Taylor Swift, you know, brought up her friend Lana
del Ray right onto stage. Lana del Ray had tickets
right in front of Taylor Swift and then by the end,
not by the end of the game, she was in
the box.

Speaker 3 (03:00):
Have you ever done one of those?

Speaker 2 (03:03):
I've snuck into many of places and seats too where
you get.

Speaker 3 (03:06):
On they existed. I did add no idea until Michael Boublay,
God bless you, Michael. If you're listening to Lolo alone.
Michael Boublay invited me to his concert at the Garden
and I got there and I like to sit on
the floor by the stage, and I had a little
bit of an attitude when I had to go upstairs.
It's like, Oh, Michael put me in the cheap seats,
which was fine, and then that's where the boxes were.
There's wine in there, there's drinks, there's food, you have

(03:29):
a waiter, you have a server. It's like being in
a private little club and you can squeeze as many
people in that room. I don't think you should. It's
exciting to have a limit. But if I had the
box garret, I'd get you in, I'd get my friends in,
I get everybody in. But he paid. Are you surprised
that he picked up the town?

Speaker 2 (03:46):
Oh, that's the gentleman thing to do. Like, you're not
going to make your girlfriend pay for the bar's.

Speaker 3 (03:50):
Got a billion dollars.

Speaker 1 (03:52):
She's got a billion dollars. But that's the normal thing
to do.

Speaker 2 (03:56):
She has a billion dollars, doesn't mean you can't open
the door for her, you know what I mean? And
especially if your parents are there, his parents are there,
his brother is there, his brother's.

Speaker 1 (04:05):
Wife is there. Like the least she could do.

Speaker 2 (04:08):
And I get it too, especially since yes, it is
a very it feels like they've been dating for years,
but they've only been dating for a Travis and Taylor
have only been dating for a couple of months.

Speaker 1 (04:18):
It's in our eyes.

Speaker 2 (04:20):
So you still you're still not close enough with the
family outside of just hanging out for the last thirteen
weeks in a box.

Speaker 1 (04:26):
So what do you do. You bring a friend or
two with you to hang out with, you know, and you.

Speaker 3 (04:30):
Do that and do that. So she called Blake, she
called Blake and.

Speaker 1 (04:34):
Ice spice too. I spice Ice Spice, I.

Speaker 3 (04:37):
Mean spe What about the other posse, because remember Taylor
was really close was it Toddrick Hall? And she was
close with Gigi Hadi Selina Gomez. Do you think she
invited them and they were not available? Or did they
not get away?

Speaker 2 (04:50):
You got to you gotta draw the line somewhere. And
that's the other thing too, Rob Shooter. You invite me over,
you invite me to go see your your husband's show harmony.
I'm not going to go through my phone and invite
my entire phone context.

Speaker 3 (05:03):
Oh that's a good point. Yes, that's how to think
about it, isn't it. It's quite complicated. I was thinking
about weddings and parties and who you invited off the
guest list, and you know there's only a certain amount
of seats in that box, and you can't just keep
giving away free tickets because the tickets don't exist. And
so this brings us to our poll question of the day.

(05:24):
Travis treated Taylor's family. She had a mom and a
dad there and I think a brother to their Super
Bowl experience, that's what we're calling it. He covered the
cost of the suite. It was at least three hundred
thousand dollars. He earns a lot of money, and I'm
sure he've got a big bonus too, But he picked
up the tabat question of the day is should Taylor
have chipped in? Should she have paid? To go? Vote

(05:48):
on our Facebook page. You can vote on our Twitter
page and be sure to come back tomorrow to hear
your results. Okay, so more headlines, Garrett, I want to
get your opinion about all of these. Harry and Meghan
were not at the Super Ball. Mindside has telling me
that unlike previous years, nobody really invited them. So they
sit in a private box once again, very expensive. They

(06:08):
only have so many of these VIP boxes, and so
Harry and Meghan this shire not really a priority, not invited.

Speaker 2 (06:15):
I would love to see the list of celebrities that
just missed the cut you know what I mean, Because
there was a ton of celebrities at the at the game,
you know, from the the VIP boxes on the field
level to the upper upper parts where Taylor Swift was,
and there had to be a cutoff, you know what
I mean, the oh, I'm so sorry you.

Speaker 1 (06:33):
Just missed the cutoff of you just didn't make it.

Speaker 3 (06:35):
Yeah, making them Harrian Meghan didn't make it. Yes, stock
has tumbled, hasn't it a little bit? Two years ago?
They were the king and Queen of Hollywood? Dare I say?
And now it's it's it's sort of diminished a little bit.
It happens to everybody. Nobody stays red hot forever, and
they were really red hot. So I'm not putting them
down here, I'm not making fun of them. Every career
goes through ups and downs, even if your create is

(06:56):
being you.

Speaker 1 (06:56):
You come home from from England and you you turn
and into this when before you left for England you
were very pro. You know, I'm pro.

Speaker 3 (07:06):
I'm still thro I was fascinating though.

Speaker 2 (07:08):
What's funny about about Meghan though, is most of her
cast were in Super Bowl commercials. Mostly the suits cast
were a TV a T Mobile commercial, and Elf Cosmetics commercial.

Speaker 1 (07:18):
The entire cast of suits in those two they were
do you.

Speaker 3 (07:22):
Think they invited Meghan? And she said no, thank you.

Speaker 2 (07:24):
I think they definitely had to reach out. Maybe not
the T Mobile, definitely the probably Elf Cosmetics.

Speaker 1 (07:29):
Elf.

Speaker 3 (07:30):
I like those cosmetics I got sent last year. So
after the Super Bowl I always go on TV. I'm
going to go on TV today this morning, Garrett, after
we finish our podcast, I'm going to glue my hair
around and put all my makeup on and run to
TV to talk about this all day. And they're going
to ask me about my favorite commercial. Well, last year
I said it was to the Elf commercial.

Speaker 1 (07:47):
Oh wow.

Speaker 3 (07:47):
They sent me a whole box of products, lovely products.
They work really well. Because I had not really heard
of this company, so I use Mac or you know
the old fashionlessly lorder type brands. And now I'm an
Elf fan. Okay, I've got to get your opinion about
just In Bieber. He was there. He rocked up actually
with the Kardashians, which is not a good look if
Taylor Swift's going to be There are lots of history
between Taylor and the Kardashians and Kanye. So Kim, Chloe

(08:11):
and Kendall were with him, but he did not perform.
Were you surprised? Uh?

Speaker 2 (08:16):
Yes, and no. You know, I think that he's not
ready there yet. Two weeks ago he performed when he
was up in Canada for the NHL All Star Game,
and you know, I don't think he might not be
ready yet for himself. That's why. I because the talks were, oh,
Usher's people are talking to Justin's people. Yes, they're the
same people people. No one's talking, there's no teams, it's

(08:39):
the same people.

Speaker 3 (08:40):
It's talking to yourself.

Speaker 1 (08:41):
Yeah, exactly.

Speaker 3 (08:43):
So why was any answer? Yes, then why didn't that happen?

Speaker 1 (08:45):
Well?

Speaker 2 (08:46):
I think it was just maybe it was a you know,
Usher probably was asking from day one, and it just
got to the point where it's like, hey, time's running
out putting.

Speaker 1 (08:54):
The show together.

Speaker 2 (08:55):
The show gets put together so far in advance that
it's pretty much set in stone instead, and they kept
a window open.

Speaker 3 (09:01):
For you can't change in the last twenty four hours.
If Beyonce wanted to get up there, it'd be very
difficult to make it happen. It's so interesting. It's like
when you go to see a show at the Garden.
The Donna's show is carefully choreographed. She can't just change
and a random much because of the lights and all
the technical stuff. So I was happy to see him
there there. My inside is tell me he wasn't going
to perform, right, It was not his moment. He didn't

(09:22):
feel like he's been honest about his struggles with mental
health and performing. But he wanted to be there to
support Usher. So he was there in the stands, but
did not want to perform. Okay, let's get to the
meat and potato as a so to speak of the
super Bowl that sounds in Usher's abs. It's the talk
of the tower. So Usher came out overall, I think
he was fabulous. He came out in a white dotsy

(09:44):
and banner onsemble or he looked magical, and then he
sort of turned into Michael Jackson. He had one glove
on at one point then towards the end, he ripped
off his shirt. He ripped off his T shirt and
what do you think?

Speaker 2 (09:58):
You know, I definitely like that. It was you very
reminiscent of when Adam Levine did it, you know what
I mean? So so, but but it was more classy
than the way Adam Levine. I think Adam Levine just
came out with no shirt on Usher, at least basically casually,
just like a strip tease. It was like a strip.
I like that shirt though that comes across like normal
one of those. It wasn't a button down. It was
like from the show on side and all.

Speaker 3 (10:20):
The well, what did you think about Usher? Ever? All
I'm hearing mixed results. My friends really liked it, and
they're like the performance and we'll get into the guest
stars in a second, but what about him?

Speaker 2 (10:28):
I think it was solid. But you know, the thing
I've learned just in life in general, you cannot make
everybody happy, especially the one event that all eyes are watching.
So you have fifty two billion people watching you at
any given point throughout the next two days, and you're
not going to make fifty two billions.

Speaker 3 (10:44):
To make everyone happen.

Speaker 1 (10:45):
But it's a thing of life too, right, Like we
talked about this.

Speaker 3 (10:48):
In life and the big you get, the more shots
you're going to get. I thought it was terrific. I
thought it was very show busy. I mean, it's difficult
for the boys to compete with the girls because the
girls can go Ja Lo and Beyonce can go well,
the costume changes in the head.

Speaker 2 (11:02):
I want to see them it dances. I want to
see the people who tied his roller skates, you know, because.

Speaker 3 (11:06):
It didn't really fast. I noticed that when he was
off stage. I was like, he's getting his roller skates.
Roller skating.

Speaker 2 (11:10):
It's like a quick chan quick shir at a Broadway show.
So there's definitely two to four people putting on his
four people.

Speaker 3 (11:17):
He walks off and he just stands there. You don't
take your clothes off. They rip your clothes off and
they get your dress. Now, let's talk about some of
the guest stars. Alicia Keys I used to work for.
I was at publicist for a long time, and that
that song my Boo really was a big It was
a big moment and it actually made Alisha a much
bigger star. I remember being with Alisha and Usher when
they shot the video for that. I remember being in

(11:38):
time squares with them and everybody wanted usher and actually
people did not really recognize Alisia, so that was a
huge moment for her. I loved it. I liked the
red piano. I liked the red costume. What did you think?

Speaker 2 (11:49):
I thought it was great too. And I know a
lot of people are like, isn't Alicia Keys married to
Swiss beads?

Speaker 3 (11:54):
Yes?

Speaker 1 (11:54):
But again, people, this is a performance, you know what
I mean. It's not like they're they're literally making love
on stage, Like.

Speaker 3 (12:01):
Was it a little too racy for you?

Speaker 1 (12:04):
Not at all? You know what I mean.

Speaker 2 (12:05):
It's the song is called my Boo, So they're both
two professionals dancing very closely together. Does like do we
do this on Dancing with the Stars every week?

Speaker 3 (12:14):
It's like, and the costumes are actually quite similar. They're
not gonna want to hear that. Okay, what did you
think about Little John and ludicrous?

Speaker 2 (12:21):
He had to he had to? I mean one of it,
Like you said, I think I Shure said it best.
How can I not invite two of the people that
were part of one of the biggest songs of my career,
you know what I mean? And the thing I love
too is, you know, the the thing everybody questions, he's
lip syncing.

Speaker 1 (12:39):
They were. They were live for most of those performances.

Speaker 3 (12:43):
All they were live, you know, so they were live. Yeah,
and you caatelics. His sound was a little off. It
wasn't him, it was the sound in the beginning. Guy
had a little moment, was like, oh no, but then
they fixed it. But I couldn't hear him very clear
that in the beginning. It's amazing what they pull off.
They do a vague size production in the middle of
the field and they have twelve minutes to get that
field out right. They have to me and you would

(13:04):
forget to put the plug in. I mean every single thing.
It's hard enough taping a podcast in the morning there.
Can you imagine that I don't know where to put
my mic plug and have the plug.

Speaker 2 (13:13):
Imagine trying to do this podcast at the Super Bowl
for halftime you in.

Speaker 3 (13:16):
The middle of the field. I'd have to roll out
like stension cord and my part. So I think it's
just fantastic. Now, this is a great little bit of
gossip before we move on to the other performers. Just
before the Super Bowl, U Shirt and his longtime girlfriend
Jennifer obtained a marriage license in Vegas.

Speaker 1 (13:36):
He does have the keys to the city.

Speaker 3 (13:38):
You know, he's got the keys of the sid well.
That's the moment to do it. Although I would imagine
your wedding, can that top of Super Bowl performance? I
hope the answer is yes.

Speaker 2 (13:47):
I mean, let's let's just break down his weekend. So
Thursday the man drops a new album for the first
time in forever, right, he drops an album. He gets ready,
So that's Thursday. Friday he gets his marriage license, uh
to to for his new wife, him and his wife,
and then Sunday he performs on the biggest stage, followed
by a national world tour and probably number one on

(14:10):
iTunes across the board and all you know streaming services.
How much better can get for for Usher?

Speaker 3 (14:17):
Right now? Like like, no, it's a good it's a
good line.

Speaker 1 (14:22):
Wait a wake up and go, hey, how's your weekend?

Speaker 3 (14:24):
You know what I mean?

Speaker 1 (14:24):
You and I like saw some family had some chicken wings.

Speaker 3 (14:30):
I love it. I love it quickly before we get
a break. Reba McIntyre National Anthem brought tears to some
of the players. They had tears in their eyes. She
was great what did you think? Oh?

Speaker 2 (14:40):
Solid, you know that was one of those you cannot
go wrong. You know, it's you won't see people going.
You know, I hated that performance from where you both
he saw it. It's like no matter where you lie
on the on the political scale, the spectrum, uh, love hate.
I think everybody can exact taste, you know, fashion. I

(15:01):
think you can all agree that Rebo Go Riba, you know,
solid performance and one of those like you know she
could run for office, you know, with the rock and
everybody will feel okay with solid.

Speaker 3 (15:11):
Then two other performances I have to give a quick
shout out to Post Malone folksy rendition of America Beautiful.
Taylor Swift was even approving of that. She she loved it.
And Andrea Day, oh singing lift every voice and sing
I loved both.

Speaker 1 (15:28):
That was that was pretty amazing. Andrew Day.

Speaker 2 (15:30):
If you haven't heard her, go go listen to her
song rise Up. And if it doesn't inspire you to
get out and just do something or something you've been
sitting on, like give up. Yeah, you might want to
check your soul at that point like she is.

Speaker 3 (15:42):
Give up. If that doesn't inspire you, Okay, We're going
to take a quick break and we hopefully we'll be
back to inspire you to welcome back to the laudy
bit nice. I'm Rob Shoot, your host, that dear co
host and friend Garrek.

Speaker 1 (15:55):
Can I let people in on a little secret. So
during the commercial break, Rob Shooter and I just shotgun
to dream like Taylor Swift did on the big screen
last night at the super Bowl, Like did you see that?

Speaker 3 (16:04):
Like that's going to be our nicest in the day
as a whole before Okay, last show, let's get okay,
let's get to the polls. Last show, we talked about
criticism Prince William got for remarks he made about Kate
Middleton's nurses, so he referred to their race. He referred
to them as Filipino nurses who he was very grateful

(16:25):
for and he praised them. Was he wrong to bring
up race? Should he just to thank the nurses? It
caused a little bit of a drama in the UK
some here too. Let's have a look where I seventy
percent said yes, he should have just said thank you
to the nurses. I think I agree. Okay, let's do
my favorite part on the show, and nicest of the
day it is Taylor Swifts for chugging beer at the

(16:49):
super Bowl. So there she was at the super Bowl.
She was having a great time. Sometimes celebrities when they
know they're going to be on camera, and she knew,
they change their behavior. Not Taylor, she said, I'm just
gonna have a great time.

Speaker 2 (17:01):
But that's the thing at a sporting event too. So
if you're ever at a sporting event and you get
shown on the big screen and you have a drink,
everybody starts cheering, and what you do is down that
drink because you know what that does. It just makes
everybody go crazy because they just like are impressed.

Speaker 1 (17:15):
So she did what she did. She was she was
what we call normal.

Speaker 3 (17:19):
You know, you know last night America, I love it,
I love it, I love it, and I noticed the
day Naughty, naughty, naughty. Beyonce on the eve of the
Super Bowl announced that she's got a country album coming
out and it's premiering with two new songs during the
super Bowl. She was there and her western themed ensemble.
If you wonder why was Beyonce wearing a cowboy hat

(17:42):
at the Grammar is now we know she has a
country album coming out. Now I'm the biggest Beyonce fan
in the world. I can't wait for the album. I
just think the timing because her fans and Taylor's fans
have been quite competitive. Remember all that drama about who
had the biggest tour, who had the biggest movie? This
super Bowl was Tay this moment. It really was trackvis
this moment. But let's just from.

Speaker 1 (18:04):
With music at the Grammys. So so Beyonce, Yes, Beyonce,
at least where are you on this?

Speaker 3 (18:10):
I think Beyonce should have waited. I don't like it.
Beyonce a wait a day or so at least, that's
what I think. And naughtiest of the day. Let's end
with a moment, right, Thank you very much, darling. You'll
never do a whole lot unless you are brave enough
to try. When people ask me what's the secret of
my success, my modest success, I have a really easy answer.

(18:33):
It's that I try. The willingness to try is what
has made me successful. I failed a lot of times,
a lot of times, and I'm still failing even to
this day. But I get back up, Garrett, and I
try again. And to me, that is what success is.
Just been willing to try. It doesn't really even matter
what the outcome is. Try, try, try, and I think back.

(18:56):
A friend of mine sent me a photograph of Taylor
Swift from many years ago playing this little, tiny concert.
She's so young, she's probably like sixteen or seventeen. There's
three people in the crowd, like it's empty, and then
cut to who she is today, and it's because she
never ever gave up. And yes there was a little
bit of talent there too, thinking she's super talented, but

(19:18):
she never ever gave up. Don't give up, naughties. That
is it for today. Thank you so good for listening
to The Naughty but Nice with Robin Garrett Show, a
production of iHeartRadio. Don't Forget Us as grow on the
