(00:51):
Eight minutes to go in the third Dallas, We're going
to take a three games to one lead over the Thunder.
They lead at sixty to fifty, and we'll heard is
Luca today?

Speaker 2 (01:00):
Uh?

Speaker 1 (01:01):
Well, well, you know with Luca, like it changes every
time up and down the floor, Like Luca looks like
he's hurt, maybe one possession, then it looks like he's fine.
But the horsing around he was doing pregame, they showed
that onto him. I think Luca's a little bit of
he looked, OK, he's okay to the Uh, you'll know
if the if the game starts slipping away and Dallas
is losing, he will be he will appear to be

(01:22):
a little bit more injured, oh than normally. Yeah, so
just just watch for that. I'm sure that will happen.
How many more shots while we get in Mark Cuban?
What's the over under? Oh? Eight oh six left in
the third? Oh, you'll get at least four more, all right,
so yeah, four more of Mark Cuban, I think, uh,
and again and more of But you will get more
shots of Luca Grimacing. Oh yeah, if the if the

(01:44):
Mavericks lead evaporates, okay, you will get more Luca Grimacing.
Then you will get cutaways of Mark Cuban. Now, if
we can get someone dressed as Grimace in there, that'd
be even better. He's the Ben Roethlisberger of the NBA
on the court, on the court, Tell you, man, nobody's
health very more between trips up and down the floor
than Luka doncich Man. Oh, he's got to come out

(02:05):
of the game. Oh no, it's pretty good. It was
just about that was nice. No, No, Ady always goes
it's full full the whole damn season eighty. Doesn't go
up the floor looking great and then down the floor. No,
he the minute he recognizes something could be wrong, he
runs off the floor. I'm not saying he didn't even
respond and playing a high number of games. With each
of those games, No stocks Frostby again, I'm still in

(02:28):
the playoffs. I can't hear. It's too too mouth. Your
best player is back in the game. Your best players
in a calves game tonight, literally pressing down on your chest.
Keep those compressions in rhythm. Let's go. We'll have more
on the NBA coming up in a few minutes. Yeah,

(02:48):
just wait, just wait. But look, two big NFL stories today.
The first one involving we now know what the opening
night game in the NFL is going to be. There's
a night game Ravens and the Chiefs rematch of the
AFC Championship game last year. We had a great game,
Chiefs lines. I told you the Lions are gonna win.
They won. Told you the Lines are going to the
Super Bowl, and they were a couple of bad Dan

(03:10):
Campbell decisions away from going to the super Bowl. But
when I heard this game today, right, a little bit different.
When I heard this game today Opening Night Ravens Chiefs,
I went, ah, okay, because honestly, I'm sort of over
Baltimore as being exciting and really moving the needle. I'm
kind of over the Ravens because look, Lamar Jackson's terrific

(03:34):
and he's exciting, but nothing else about Baltimore is ooh,
I gotta watch this, you know, So Baltimore, Baltimore. I
think the idea of them sounds better than the actual
idea of watching the Ravens. Right, I'm talking about from
a national perspective. I'm kind of over the Ravens. And
other part is because every year, no matter what level
of talent they have, they underachieve. So I know how

(03:55):
it's gonna end for them. Last year AFC Championship game
at home, everything we want. What happens? Ten points? They
scored ten points. Lamar puts up ten points, and that's it,
and you wind up losing and and and you go,
I'm saying, oh man again again, I'm just kind of over.
I held up a sign in that game that said
run the ball. I'm just I'm really, I'm just I'm
over the Ravens because it's been a lot of years

(04:17):
of almost especially seeing the best of Lamar Jackson's career,
and you know, it's not there, and really it's just
it's not as exciting. They're not as exciting a watch
you think there, which would be crazy considering how good
Lamar Jackson is and how frustrating he is to play
against and the stuff he's been able to accomplish. I mean,
it's really been some kind of I mean, he's had
some kind of career, but just the Ravens overall, I'm like, eh, okay,

(04:40):
like I got gonna go with a lot of other
teams there that I'd have been a little bit more
excited about that, Oh we're gonna get the Baltimore and okay,
yeah we got Lamar. I just I just I'm at
that point now with the Ravens where I go, yeah, okay,
that's great. I mean, you have the full run of
opponents obviously in division uh, and then you've got Houston, right,
that was another popular potent option for you there or

(05:01):
the forty nine ers you wanted to go and get
another would be Super Bowl contending team. I go the
complete other way, though. I'm tired of the tradition of
the champion having the game. I don't need you to
sell me some giant ass game in week one. Give
me trash, all right, New England doesn't play Carolina, but

(05:24):
gimme New England against Carolina. Honor of the team the
Super Bowl getting to open up at home and getting one. Hey,
these are the defending super Bowl champs. They get to
open up at home. We know, no matter what I'm
not saying great interest, there's gonna be great interesting. It's
gonna be a great interest in me versus you at
center at midfield running the thing. Though. You can start

(05:47):
gaming seventy two, but it could be on the field.
You're gonna watch if you do that right. The NFL
doesn't want the optic of less people watching. So that's
why every Super Bowl needs to be some sort of Hey,
when we count all the streaming numbers, this is the
most watched whatever. You don't want that to have. So
when you're looking at the opening night, you want to

(06:07):
make sure we're putting the league in the best position
where people are going to watch and we know people
are going to watch the Chiefs at home, right, like
if we know to watch paint Dry if it has
an NFL logo. But let's just say you're looking at hey,
if the Chiefs play, we know we can get fifteen
million views. Taylor Swifts run and she got a new

(06:32):
album and she's probably gonna re record the songs on
this album by the time the fall comes. But if
you say, if you say your other game as well, okay,
we can put Houston and Pittsburgh. Let's say, okay, that's
that's free. But are you guaranteed you're going to get
the same viewership you get for the Chiefs and Mahomes
and Kelsey and Taylor Swift. You're not. So I get

(06:53):
why they do it, and I get what I get,
the honor of them opening up and home. I just
feel like the Ravens are it's just not it's just
not as exciting. It just doesn't grabbing me as as
it did two times. New offensive coordinator. Maybe a little
more splash should have get people to dead, but that's
not the fact that maybe the ball down field. Maybe

(07:14):
it's as opposed to all right, the runs not working,
Lamar figure something out. I mean, look, the biggest thing
for me for the Ravens with it is I have
the summer to decide whether or not the Ravens go
on my never again list. That could be because they could.
They were ripe to go on my never again list.
They really are. They're right there. No no, once you're not
to my rule. Once you go on it, you don't

(07:34):
come off it, you don't come off it. I went
against it. I would have won the bleeping bracketology pool
that we did. But I'm stupid because I picked the
Arizona even though they were on my never again list.
Should know a Yukon like everybody else, I would have won.
About the Sixers, the Clippers, Mixers have stayed on and
never took the Sixers. Office never took the Sixers off it.
The only team that ever came off it was Arizona.
To be honest, though, Justin he's gone to the list

(07:57):
whenever anybody has wronged him so often for the last time.
I have no idea how long it is for the
last time, thirty seventeen. It's almost as long as that
line he was on at That's true. I wasn't online.
I just drove by uh no, but he perpetrated a fraud.
The Never Again List teams that I'm never gonna pick

(08:18):
to win anything again because they have disappointed me and
others so often in the recent past. With this, I'm
not gonna pick them anymore. How did they do against
the spread? Did they did they cover for their backers?
There's the more important questions that I had my kids
and all kinds of great Christmas presents. They all had
new Kindles and iPads, all thanks to the fact that
they backed me up. No, you go on the never
Again list if if you've had a chance for a

(08:40):
long time, then people picked you for stuff and you
just never broke through. And the Ravens are really close.
I got this. I have the summer to decide if
I want to put them on my never against Okay, yeah, no,
like I'm in full agreement when it goes back to
the to the idea of the ratings. I understand the
business of it, okay, but from a straight football perspective, again,
they can be running seven on sevens. It's got the

(09:02):
NFL logo. People are gonna watch. I mean, look at
what what kind of numbers you're gonna get for the
schedule release on Wednesday, it's gonna have higher numbers than
any of these NBA playoff games. Oh yeah, if you
have if you have a schedule release, Yeah, but the
Skey TV show, especially not one yesterday. Yeah, but the
schedules kind of come out, you get you get a

(09:24):
leak now a little bit more. But there's still a
common circumstance of a full schedule, like here's a little teaser, right,
here's this game, and we know who's gonna go play abroad.
But beyond that, there's still a lot of intrigue. And
I would say if we go through the ratings of
what an NBA games have done over these first couple

(09:47):
of weeks, I think the schedule release rivals or or
tops in with with some cushion. Yeah, it's tough for
me because there is that leakage. Don't leakage, lot of leakage. Well,
what we're still forty hours away. Usually the leakage comes
there's a lookout. There's a lot of leakage the day
of that. That's what you got. Oh hey, I found

(10:07):
out here's the first four games to get it. Here's
this that this gets out. The national schedule gets out
early in the days, I mean, still an NFL product
as opposed to you know, but the thunder and the mass. No,
that is true. No, no, you're you're right about that.
And and you look, look the NBA making a great
decision tomorrow night to put the Knicks and the Nuggets

(10:29):
on as gonna watch those games like these games. I'm
with you on that against Uh well, are you gonna
watch Caitlyn Clark though? Instead? You know, hey, you know,
if you're the w NBA, you know you what you
need to do because this is great? Is great? This
gets into this because I mean that would look Caitlin
Clark's debut would top the ratings for this listen, listen, yeah,
all right, all right, So Ravens, I'm not feeling anymore. Okay,

(10:50):
got it now? So this I gotta go speak for
you on Thursday when I visit with Luck and Forest Station.
What are you doing to me? If you're the w NBA, right,
you need really flexible scheduling, like you need you need
to like really figure out Okay, we want to make
sure that most people are watching them. They already move
that one preseason game, half the teams were flying commercial

(11:12):
were flying a commercial half the teams are flying charter.
There's video out today, look out great at this some
of them are flying Charter. Then Breanna Stewart's saying, we're
taking a bus to our first and figured that out.

Speaker 2 (11:21):
Yet they're working it out.

Speaker 1 (11:22):
They're working it out. But do you want to put
Caitlin clark on opposite the Knicks and the Pacers and
then the Nuggets and and the Timberwolves, or do you
want to put Kaitlan clark On up against Oklahoma City
Dallas and the Celtics and the But you're still now
talking about crowds between thirteen and eighteen thousand people that
are going there, coming to the game, no matter what. No,
But all of a sudden, we're gonna start saying, you

(11:44):
know what, Hey, we don't really feel like you say,
look you Nicks. Nicks is a big deal, Nuggets is
a big deal. We're gonna play. We running in hiding.
You have to if you're the w NBA, you're in
a new world. No, but you've got to say, you know,
we're taking the mentality of the NFL. Do you want
to go and do you still want to get it
out there as many people as possible in the middle

(12:05):
of that game, when it becomes a twenty point game,
they're gonna start going to Caitland Clark highlights. Well, look,
I want to talk about Caitland Clark tomorrow night. But Nicks.
I mean, come on, it's gonna be hard, but I'm
gonna be able to take it away from your paint.
So we're already gonna lose. Right, you're there to throw
the Knicks under the bick. I know you think they're
gonna lose frost, but you're just so jealous that your
team is the playoffs. Yes, you are doing too much.

(12:28):
I'm good, I'm living. Your team has been out of
the playoffs for way too long. My team is in
the playoffs. We are driving the playoff bus. My whole
life has been filled with great basketball. If the NBA
Playoffs was a bus, Okay, the Knicks would be driving
it because they're the number one most popular team in
the playoffs. The Lakers. You're like the first kid that

(12:49):
the bus driving talk that lives you're you're talking about.
You're the kid that lives around the corner from the school,
but somehow his parents still wanted to take a ride
to school on the bus even though he could walk
and be there quicker. And that's how quickly that the
Knicks dropped you off, dropped the Lakers off out of
the planet because the Knicks went from up first, first stop,

(13:10):
first stop, Lakers do get out, This is your stop, Lakers. Yes,
it was a very competitive bus ride. Yes, very competitive
two minute bus ride. Yes, get out. Okay, great, see
you next year. Close the door. Nicks are still driving.
Lakers have been home drinking chocolate milk and eating cookies
and playing video games. Love chocolate milk. Yeah, I love
chocolate milk. It is good. I mean to be fair.
The number of national media bodyguards for Lebron spent more

(13:33):
time talking about him and a bleak commentary that may
or may not have been about him than the actual games.
So you got that going for you. I'm just saying,
I'm just saying, nixt tomorrow night, why would you go
up against the Knicks and the Nuggets? And how do
you talk about being and driving. We're not saying a
child child gets on the bus, exit out about a

(13:56):
Fresca exit swollen dome. The Jason Smith Show with my
best friend Mike Carmon Live from the tirec Dot com

Speaker 1 (14:54):
Fox Sports Radio. The Jason Smith Show with my best
friend Mike Harmon. Dude twenty eight to go On the
third quarter, Dallas leads Oklahoma City sixty seven sixty thunder
slowly trying to get back in this. Mavericks lead this
two games to one earlier tonight, Celtics a little bit
tougher than we thought. They find a way to take
care of the Cavaliers. Stop playing with your food. I know,

(15:16):
Donovan Mitchell doesn't matter. Easiest path and so easy, so
easy that path. Just the yellow brick road, man. Just
as you said at first, I just follow the yellow
brick road. Just stay healthy, fuddled the yellow brick road.
Play can take fuddle the yellow brick road. You know,
over by the Sony Lot, there's the bars that the

(15:36):
Munchkins used to hang out at. Yeah, yeah, no, I know.
It's a very big Yeah, he's very bad. A big
deal up. Uh So we'll have more in the NBA
coming up a little bit, but some big quarterback news.
They look, we talked about the Ravens a few minutes ago,
and I'm just kind of on them. But Jason Smith
hates Lamar Jackson despite look, Lamar Jackson is is. I'm

(16:00):
very exciting player. I'm just kind of over the Ravens.
I'm just over them. But now we know when Tom
Brady is going to begin his broadcasting job for Fox.
His first Fox game will be Week one Cowboys and
the Browns. The Browns, that's his first game week one.

(16:22):
Had a little statement today saying excited to get out
there and had a little jab at Dak Prescott. Let's
see if he can do it? Oh? Is it too soon?
Was that out loud? Like a very nice little hey.
I'm letting you know I can call guys out a
little bit here if I'm Tom bra really forget himself
in the booth and think he's responding to the roast,
because between Dak and Deshaun Watson, we got ourselves some fireworks.

(16:43):
Let's go. Now, what do we need to know? First
things first, I am now extremely confident, I mean norcell
I can guarantee Brady will fulfill the first eight weeks
of his contract with Fox because to the mid season
this hole because look and everybody, I don't know where
they with the story and ran the wrong way with it.
It's like watching a Jets game.

Speaker 3 (17:03):
Is this?

Speaker 1 (17:04):
Oh? Oh, Brady could come out of retirement and play football.
Brady's not gonna come out and play a whole season.
Brady's also not gonna come out and play for a
team that's not a Super Bowl contender. When Brady said, hey,
if someone called me, I would be receptive to it,
he was putting a bug in team's ear for teams
that if they're really good and lose their quarterbacks sometime

(17:25):
after mid season, which happened to tons of teams last year. Sure. Right,
So what he's saying is that, listen, he's not gonna
come back and go through training camp and all this.
But I'm keeping myself in shape, and if something happens
and it's a really good team and a quarterback goes out,
you call me, that's when I will come back and play.
You're looking at Thanksgiving, Brady, Like, this is not Week one, Brad.

(17:46):
You're looking at Thanksgiving, Braid. Or I'll play the last
five or six games, may be able to take us
to the playoffs or even later if a quarterback gets
hurt in mid December, could Brady come out and play. Yes,
But I'll say the first eight games because that's gonna
take us into the end of our two over. While
you're thinking about something could happen if the Cowboys lose
their quarterback, something else happens. Uh. So I am firmly convinced.

(18:07):
And also, Brady's not going to come back too soon
to a team that may may not be good, Like, hey,
we have some kind of No he's gonna come back
to a team today. You lost your quarterback, but you
are absolutely on a super Bowl contender if you had somebody.
So that rules the Jets out. So first it stop.
You know, I wonder if he would if they Let's
say the Jets said he's good for eight weeks. So

(18:28):
now let's say the Jets are great because they're going
to be really good. Right, let's say the Jets are
really good. All right, let's let's go with your hypothetical.
Let's entertain him. Here is the flag running guys, guys,
just stop. The Jets have one of the best rosters
in the NFL. The flag run top. They have a
top three defense. If Rogers is healthy, we will be fine. Uh.

(18:50):
Let's say the Jets are ten and three, right, ten
and three, and Aaron Rodgers gets hurt, and here are
the Jets. They can win the Super Bowl? And would
Tom go play for the Jets? Like I think he
would play for almost any other team, but the Jets,
like I think he would be Like the folk oh, guys,
if it was anybody else, any I mean, really, any

(19:13):
other ten and three team, I can't. I can't go
play for the Jets, guys, I can't. I really think
thirty teams. He even said if New England called him
and they were good, the other the thirty one teams
he would go play for, except the Jets, like that's
the only team he would say, No, I can't do it.
I think he would go play for the Bills. Before
he would go, he's, oh, yeah, Bills, Oh could win

(19:33):
the ABS one hundred percent bills Upstate New York yeya.
But he's not gonna go play for the Jets. Well,
I think he would. You know, I have to first
ascertain what are the personal feelings of Robert Kraft towards
the Jets? Right? I mean, that's the only thing that
seems to matter, right in terms of what's off limits,
not the personal diss daste of the Jets. He owned them,
So what's the difference. Now? I can go be their savior,

(19:56):
come about. It's the perfect perfect opportunity for that. It's
just more a would this make mister Craft mad? Is that?
I think the only consideration in that process? Well, because
if Belichick we're still there, he'd go stick a dagger
in him. Well, also the the but the the desire
to come back and stick it to the Patriots is
probably gone a little bit because Belichick's not there. No,

(20:17):
but that's what I mean, right. If Bill were still there,
then then maybe it'd be I think was still there
because he loved Craft more than he heats Melichick. He
likes playing, he likes playing and winning super Bowls. And
if the Jets were ten and three, he would they
called him. I'm telling you any other because we know
we wanted to go to my for every threat, sorry Bom,

(20:38):
we know we wanted to go to Miami. So of
course he would go play for Miami. The only other
thing the Bills. But yes, he would go play for
the Bills. He would do it. He would go play.
The Jets are the only and I mean that would
be the phone. I'll tell you what if if the
Bills are ten and three. Gosh, Josh Allen is superman. Guys,
I don't know. I can't. I can't go to the Jets, man,
I can't do it. I can't do it. I can't

(20:59):
do it. That's the only team he wouldn't go to
So the Jets just say, all right, we'll go to
t rod Taylor. Then I guess all right, thanks Tom. First,
I need you to pause while I talk. Go get
the smelling salts and wake Frostbury. I don't think he
recognized you were in fantasy land, so he kind of
fainted back. You wait to a Jets are ten and three.
We're gonna win the division. As long as Rogers is healthy,

(21:20):
We're going to win the division. I know it's a
huge I'm not saying. I'm not saying I am pausing
on the edge of this if like I'm a character
in a movie looking over the edge of a gully
and trying to Can I jump it? Can I not? No,
I'm at the edge of this. I'm at the edge
of this big thing. Is this one of the alternate
universes for the upcoming if movie? Keep saying a lot

(21:42):
and get Zach Wilson back before Tom Brady joined. Wow,
that return of Zach. Never gonna take another snap of
the NFL again, Zach Wilson, Come on, man, the Broncos
aren't the NFL. Well, no, he's just never gonna take
a snap for him? Is not gonna happen. I don't know,
super genius Sean Payton's got it off figured out. Listen,
this is this is how much. This is how much
I like the Broncos now because I like their quarterback.

(22:05):
You know why. His name is nix nix Yo nix yow. Hey,
that's how much. That's how crazy I am with the
Knicks right now, nix Yo nix Yo. Mary couldn't even
get behind that next Nick Nicks nix Yo nix Yeah.
But look, so the first eight games Brady's gonna do
I have no doubt in my mind he's gonna do that. Now,

(22:29):
how is he going to do? They wouldn't hire him.
Fox wouldn't hire him, give him all that money if
they thought for a second Brady would be like Rex Ryan,
or an analyst who came in, or Jason Whitten who
came with a lot of promise and suddenly, boy, this
guy stinks. He's not saying anything. Brady has a great cachet,

(22:50):
maybe greater than anybody that's ever gone to the broadcast booth.
But just the fact that he threw that out there
today about Dak Prescott. The now, hey, let's see if
Dak can see the through now, Uh oh oh, is
that too soon for that? Or did I type that
out loud? Is what he said. So there's no doubt
that Brady will be able to criticize when he needs
to criticize, because he's not someone who needs to worry

(23:12):
about talking with players or any players say what does
that guy know anything about? Like no, no quarterback is good.
They could disagree, but when Brady says something, Yeah, Brady
says you stink or you should have done that, you
should guess what. Brady's gonna have the cachet and everybody's
going to believe Brady. Now, is he gonna do it
in a way that's going to make people upset?

Speaker 3 (23:31):
No.

Speaker 1 (23:31):
You can see Brady in his personality even when he's upset.
He has that disarming charm and he always seems to
be talking with a smile on his face. Whenever you
hear him on the radio or you see him on TV,
close your eyes, listen to him talk unless you're driving,
don't do that. Listen to him talk, and it just
sounds like he's got a smile on his face. So
even when he's saying something like whether he's at the

(23:52):
roast he's using the F word whatever it is. When
he's he sounds like he's always doing with a little
bit of a glint. S my, Hey, we're all in
on this joke together. So is he gonna be able
to come through and say critical things. Yes, he will
because he's not gonna care about if players text him
if they don't. He's tom Bleep and Brady, and he
will find a way to be critical enough, but not
critical to the point where he seems like I'm going

(24:13):
after a guy or I'm hot taking it through, he
will be just fine in the booth. Dude just did
that roast and for three hours had people taking baseball
bats to his head. I think he'll be okay. I
think more of them took it, you know, down the
direction of Jaselle Bunchin she caught a lot, a lot
of strays. Yeah, but he wished happy Mother's Day to
her and good job. Yeah, it's all good. But the

(24:35):
idea that he's gonna worry about what somebody texts him
or offending anybody, forget that. So that's all but that.
But that's a lot of analysts and I've seen them.
I've seen auditions for analysts who say I'm gonna say this, this, this,
and this, Okay, whether I will shine the scenes at
ESPN or not, and I say, this guy's gonna be
an unbelievable analyst. And then when the lights go on, Yeah,

(24:57):
I don't quite say what I want to say. I'm
a li because I'm nervous about what what messages I'm
gonna get. Are people gonna be mad at me? And
I still live in that world where I see these
guys and I don't want anybody. I don't want to be,
you know, out of the club now. So I'm not
gonna say what I what I looked like I was
gonna say when I do my audition. So there's a
lot of guys that happens. If you're Brady, you're up here,

(25:21):
and if you you say it, everybody's gonna take They
may take it to heart. You may affect some guys
and their psychees a little bit if you really break
down you know the shortcomings of their game. But the
larger thing is his aspirations and and look, he may
come back to the back end of the year, say
say that's a possibility. The only other way he's re
entering the game is that as an owner, right, be

(25:43):
it with the Raiders as a part owner, or whatever
else happens. Like he's up here. The other part about
just doing the job and his technical proficiency to it.
He's not doing it unless he knows he's gonna come
in and do it. Well, that's why he didn't jump
right into the booth last year. Yeah, there was the
opportunity potentially to show up back on a sideline quarterbacking,

(26:04):
but the other was just very realistically, You're going to
take some time, get everything else, all your ducks in
a row, but go through tapes, go through simulated games,
go back through as much of a broadcasting boot camp.
I'd love to hear all the details of who he
he did FOUE games with, Right, did he work with

(26:26):
a number of the top broadcasters in and out of
the game, guys that you know might be local broadcasters
that he had, you know, some relationship with all the
way through for that boot camp side of things. Because
we know plenty of players in their careers and just
after go through these broadcasting boot camps, how many guys
have gone through for Fox that we know and have

(26:47):
worked with or talked to here on the air at
Fox sports radio. I mean, a lot of guys go
through that type of grind to try to get an
idea of whether this is an area they want to
get into. With Brady, gotta imagine it was taken to
a whole other level with the number of people that
he worked. As long as none of them were Phil Simms,
he's going to do. Okay, that's got now Phil Simms

(27:12):
catches the Strada Phil for Phil Sims, Oh, you know,
for Phil Sims. And he had an institution for years him.
You had a good is that big thirty year runs.
Now it's time for other people's time for Brady to
come in. He'll be because because because that's a great point,
is that he's not gonna do anything. He's not going
to succeed at He wouldn't at least feel like he's
going the crypto thing aside, he's crypto. Everybody kind, I mean,

(27:35):
no matter who you are. I mean, Matt Damon really
screwed everybody with that commercial. Hey, fortune favors the bolt, okay,
but well, if you did a little bit of arbitrage,
you might have been okay. And though he wasn't going
to do the roast unless he knew it was going
to be a big hit, like he's not doing that roast.
But if it's gonna come out bad for him, he
does the roast. It's the biggest story you have to
lean in a week, right, and he did all Right.

(27:56):
He's not going to do anything that he could look at,
you could say Brady sucked at that. He's not gonna
do it. He's he's he doesn't have that. He doesn't
He's not someone that can put himself out there to
try something if it's gonna look if it's gonna look
like well, maybe that's not his cup of tea. No,
he's gonna be polished. He's gonna be fine. And that's
why he's doing this Like there's nothing he's going to

(28:17):
do that. He's not going to be successful when it
comes to what he can control. That's why the Jets,
I know. I'm telling you every team he'll go to,
any team in the NFL is the super Bowl content.
But he's not gonna go to the Jets. Really, I
can see the phone go with him and Donnie and
don going, Tom got great news for you man, and
even working out want to play. Yeah you saw what happened. Yes,
so yeah, I saw Aaron Rodgers. Man, Yeah, he's gonna

(28:38):
be vice president. Yeah it happened. Yeah, it's weird to
pull him on the ticket right away. Yeah yeah, Hey,
the Jets want you, and that would be Brady Brady's
he would just go, oh man, really, any other team,
come on, why don't they have to sound like because
I can just see it, right, did he not? He
drifted into his show names. He just wants a kiss.

(28:59):
He's gonna get that phone call, put it on speaker
at his house and go, oh man, I can't. I
can't them, I can't anybody else, anybody else, anybody? Hey
you did? Aren't the Browns done?

Speaker 3 (29:10):
Like?

Speaker 1 (29:10):
You know, they've won twelve games all they're all seven
of their quarterbacks thinking, Nah, they're still sticking with their guys.
All right, great, great Gray, But the Jets want you. Man,
you can go right to Look, they're ten and three,
they're roll. I can't. I can't, I'm I I can't.
I can't, man, I really try to speak that into exists.
Just can't do it. The color is the sky in
your war. Just can't do it. You wait till a
Jets star ten and three, Frostburg. You just wait because

(29:32):
I don't can't wait. But I mean, really, every other team,
any other team through the Barns guy he'd go to.
He'd go to the Giants if they were great. And
Daniel Jones he would go to the Giants, I guarantee you.
But he wouldn't go to the Jets. That's the only
team he wouldn't go to. Jets. You So, so do
you think Jan Jansen is taking over at Iowa for
Lisa Bluter? She's been her assistant there for over twenty years.

(29:55):
How many years of the road do you think the
off season conversation went, So, you're gonna come I'm coming back, Okay,
coming back, Okay, okay, okay, So coming back, coming back,
coming back, okay, okay, okay, come back. So she's been
waiting twenty four years for this job? Did she have
a title like you know, Syracuse head coaching, waiting coaching,
waiting coaching waiting. I don't know you would think so, well, hocket, Hey, hey, hey,

(30:19):
maybe the Jets replace him and that could actually happen. Uh.
Coming up next, we have a two one hundred and
twelve million dollar NFL story for you, Jason and Mike Fox.

Speaker 2 (30:30):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific.

Speaker 1 (30:38):
Fox Sports Radio. The Jason Smith Show with Mike Harmon
Live from the Tireck dot Com Studios. Six and a
half to go in the fourth quarter, Dallas trying to
hold on against Oklahoma City eighty two to seventy five,
first one to ninety wins. There's a lot of I mean,
it's going to be a rugby scrum before long. There
have been a lot of bodies flying, a lot of
jaw in these last couple of minutes. Game could go

(30:59):
to double overtime and neither team might hit one hundred
crack to one hundred. What a great game, double overtime
ninety eight ninety seven. Wow. Okay, well, you know what,
it doesn't have to be great. He just has to
be close. That's right. That's right. Us Well, show Mantra
more on this game and more on the Celtics big
win tonight. That was a little bit more difficult than
expected coming up in about ten minutes. But today Jared
Goff got paid again. Lions quarterback agrees to a two

(31:23):
hundred and twelve million dollar extension with the Lions for
the next four years. He's twenty nine. He has been
very good since he went to the Lions. And look,
I know there's a lot of shock about this. He's
the second highest paid quarterback in the NFL, but this
really is This is the phrase, this is the cost
of doing business in the NFL. When your quarterback plays well,

(31:46):
and he has played well the last couple of years
and your team wins, you want to keep that going.
This is what it costs. Doesn't mean that Jared Goff's
gonna be the second highest paid quarterback for the low.
You got guys coming up the next couple of years
going to get more money. That's that's just how it goes.
But this is the cost of doing business. If the
Lion's stunk or Jared Goff wasn't any of course they

(32:07):
would moved on. But this is where you're at. Hey
were this close in the Super Bowl a year ago.
Jared Goff works in our system. He loves Detroit. Detroit
loves him. No one's gonna be upset that we're giving
him this money. Unless he stinks this year, than the
fans will turn on. But right now, everybody loves him,
and he's been a guy, he's worked here, he has
fit in with us, and so yeah, when you play

(32:27):
that well the last couple of years, you get that extension.
This is just it's the cost of doing business. No,
it's funny because there's still some detractors out there. There's
still some folks that blame rams things on golf, even
though Sean McVay has been very public about Yeah, I
kind of screwed all that up. Well, really it really
it's the super Bowl. That's just it's just three points

(32:49):
in the Super Bowl. Really, how much of that is
really the super genius? You had to have a fall guy.
The quarterback became the fault you could you couldn't adjust,
You couldn't adjust, You couldn't adjust at halftime. Yep, they
could still be playing that game and Jared Goff is
still the only thing three points. But yes, so he
wore it for mcveigh's inability to solve Bill Belichick's strategy. Okay,

(33:11):
so push that aside. You've spent a lot of money
on infrastructure. Right, we just had the announcement of the
Aman Rossain Brown extension. What was that last week before that?
Penay sewell got paid. You have loaded up saying, all right,
we like this iteration of this squad and where we're
at and where we're developing in division. Whatever the Bears

(33:31):
get better, the Packers might still have something with Jordan
Love and then the Vikings, we'll see, right, it's a
wait and see approach with Sam Darnold and JJ McCarthy
to come. But you're feeling like you've got everything in place.
Ben Johnson returns as you're OC for another year. And
you saw how efficient that offense was and how well

(33:53):
they played in long stretches, a lot of it owing
to how great that offensive line is. Got a triple
underscore that along the way. But found it interesting, you know,
the as soon as this got inked, the comparison stat
line for stat line between what Golf and Matthew Stafford
have done since the trade, it's an absurdly even number

(34:15):
on almost every stat line. Anything you can pull out,
no matter what you want to do, from all our stats,
advanced stats, whatever, they're basically identical. And for Detroit you
have stability, something you have not been able to claim
in a very long time at the quarterback position. So yeah,
he gets paid. Next man up paid that man his money. Now, look,

(34:35):
you're talking about other guys are gonna get big contracts
after this year. You know, Jordan Love is gonna get
a contractor we are going to be up to in
the next year, the best quarterbacks will be making over
sixty million dollars a year, which puts us on pace.
What do I tell you by twenty thirty, there's gonna
be an NFL quarterback number making one hundred million dollars
a year because you're seeing the quarterback play just get

(34:56):
better and better from the top guys more and more
every year. The salary cap goes up. Salary cap goes
up five hundred million dollars every year, plenty of room
for everybody. But with all of that continuing to go,
continuing to grow, we're gonna get to that there's gonna
be the guy you know, not starting college now, maybe
a guy starting college in two or three years. That's
gonna be that guy. Because you're gonna see guys getting paid.

(35:17):
And if that, like I said, in a year, it's
gonna be over sixty million, and then you're talking about
twenty seven, we're gonna be at seventy million. So we're
right on pace. By the time twenty thirty comes, someone's
making a hundred million dollars. That's the thing because it goes, uh, line,
line for line with all of the talk that we've
got about the NFL and to continue parsing out of
single game small sets of game packages to different entities

(35:40):
and streaming sites along the way, and to get that
exclusivity whatever. The Black Friday game was a great example
last year. That's a one hundred million now to bring
that game up. Really, okay, that's great thing. Well, I
mean we can play the highlight, no, no, finish your point.
Finish your point point being that there was one hundred
million plus spent for that game for that window, and

(36:01):
how many more of those? Can you do? A lot?

Speaker 2 (36:04):
Right?

Speaker 1 (36:05):
We got two hundred and seventy two that we can
chip off one at a time. We got a Green
Tuesday game coming great. Oh, we'll give you five hundred
million dollars for why not? We got an orange Weursday
cartoon day. We have an Earth Day game. Ouh, both
teams wear green. You can't tell it all. It's a
home day for the New Orleans Saints. Let's go, we're playing.

(36:26):
You buy the Archdiocese of whomever. That's November first, right,
all Saints days number first. Okay, trying to think we
can get a Devil's Night in is that'll be actually
November one would be a Thursday, so it'll be a
normal Thursday pack. No, but you pump deb but that's
more money. Maybe that's an extra game or is it
actually it's Friday? Okay, So this was like David Gilmore's
coming to the Hollywood Bowl. So I was we got

(36:47):
to look at a dates trying to figure out if
it was viable. There you go, but I'm telling you
make it by twenty thirty one hundred million dollar a
year quarterback. No, it's it ready, keep that pie growing.
