Birthdays are significant moments marking our solar return, the exact time when the sun aligns with its position at your birth.

A solar return is not just a birthday; it’s a powerful astrological event that signifies renewal and the start of a new life cycle. While a solar return often coincides with your birthday, it doesn’t occur every year on the same date, making it a unique opportunity for introspection. When your solar return aligns with your birthday, it opens a special portal for harnessing energetic signatures to set powerful intentions for the year ahead.

The six weeks leading up to your birthday are crucial for reflecting on lessons learned, personal growth, and emotional readiness. Pay attention to astrological configurations during this time; they reveal the energy patterns that influence your personal journey.

As your birthday approaches, energies compound, bringing lessons and insights to the forefront, making it the perfect time for personal exploration. Use the weeks leading up to your solar return to "clean house" emotionally, tying up loose ends and addressing unresolved feelings. Spend solitary time journaling to uncover your blind spots, personal growth, and aspirations for the upcoming year.

Understanding your solar return can help you harness its vitality and prepare for new beginnings. Consider pulling oracle or tarot cards leading up to your birthday to gain further insight into your journey and potential.

Celebrate where you are in your life as your solar return brings renewed energy and clarity about your purpose. Reflect on past limitations and emotional strains during your solar return to facilitate deeper healing and growth. Be intentional in your reflections during your solar return; the potent energy available can propel you toward significant personal evolution.

Harness the magical and inquisitive energy of your solar return to set the stage for an empowering year ahead!

Speaker 1 (00:08):
Hey everyone, it's Amanda Riga Green. Welcome to Soul Sessions.
Today we're going to do a whole episode on birthdays,
solar returns. Our birthdays are a big deal. They're a
big anniversary. But from an astrological perspective, there's a lot
of oomph and energy that is unique and special annually

(00:32):
around our birthday, our solar return. From an astrological perspective,
our solar return, like the actual solar return, marks the
moment in which the Sun returns to the exact degree
and placement astrologically in the sky that it occupied at

(00:55):
the time you entered onto this planet, at the time
of your birth, and it's a cycle of new growth
and renewal. And what's interesting about that is sometimes our
solar returns coincide with our actual birth date. So if
you were born at twenty two degrees of Pisces and

(01:17):
your birthday is on xyz date, sometimes the twenty two
degrees of Pisces will not fall exactly on the same date,
so it doesn't happen every year where the same astrological
degree falls on the date of your birthday. Hopefully that
makes sense. So every year we celebrate our birthday annually

(01:39):
the date we were born. But I would encourage you
to check out where the sun is and what degree
it's falling in in and around your birthday each year,
so you can see exactly the day the sun will
conjunct with your natal sun and you know your solar return.

(02:03):
And what school for me this year in twenty twenty
four is on my birthday, the sun was exactly at
the same degree it was at the time I was born.
It doesn't happen that way every year, so it was like, oh,
a little like magic in the day. But I know
that I've investigated that for years. I've been aware of it,

(02:27):
but when it happens, it's kind of like a special
portal or gateway. But it doesn't really matter either way,
but you paying attention to it gives you just some
energetic signatures to look for and to utilize in setting
your intentions and just becoming more aware. Here's another thing

(02:49):
about solar returns, and I have learned this for myself,
about the six weeks leading up to your birthday, your
solar return. It's like everything compounds, the lessons, the energies,
and if you want to use a metaphor, think about
the last six weeks before you're born and you're in

(03:09):
your mother's womb, or if you're a mother and you've
had a baby, you know those six weeks prior to
giving birth, it's like it's time to come out, Like
is it time yet? You know, there's lots of emotions
and hormones and things happening, but also the astrological configurations
that we're building up, not all of them, but some

(03:31):
things that happen annually that can be kind of similar.
It's like the planets are progressing, especially the inner planets,
and it's again it's not always aligned perfectly because it's
never going to be exactly what it was at the
moment of your birth. That is your unique signature that
will never happen again, your natal chart, your natal astrology.

(03:54):
But I know for me, like the inner planets, Mercury
and Venus and sometimes Mars, and definitely the Sun and
the moon, they're all doing things that are touching aspects,
like right up until the moment I was born. But
what I've found with this as an adult and as
someone who has delved into myself and my soul and

(04:17):
looking at astrology and numerology and energy, and I am
always collecting data. And I've used the word data a
lot recently, but I've recognized that that is something I do.
I'm always taking notes, collecting data, and whether it's my
own or working with clients, I have this wicked elephant mind.
I mean, I can forget what I was doing ten

(04:38):
minutes ago, but stuff imprints on me. And it's like
I make notes like a map key in my brain.
And when something changes or something clicks, or I correlate
it with five or six clients, I'm like, oh boom,
that makes sense. Oh gosh, they're experiencing this too, Oh wow,
and it's at this time in their life or this
astrological configuration, and it just clicks for me. But birthdays,

(05:01):
and especially the clients I've worked with intensively over the years,
we always share this buildup of energy about the six
weeks leading up to our birthday. And what I've found
is it's like lessons compound, meaning whatever I have been healing,
walking through learning in the year prior, anything that is

(05:26):
needing to be tweaked out or faced or reconciled or recognized,
it's like it becomes either more emergent immediate in my face.
So It's almost like the universe will be like, well, Amanda,
we're going to hit you over the head with this
again because we're not sure you learned that lesson, or

(05:46):
maybe you weren't paying attention last time and this was
a little pothole, but now it's like you're going to
fall down into the hole if you're not recognizing this scenario.
So what I'm encouraging you to do is around your birthday,
especially in the weeks leading up to your birthday, pay

(06:08):
attention and take notes. It is to me the most
fruitful time of the year to dive into all of
my personal journey and my self development. What am I learning,
What am I healing, what's frightening me, what is confronting me?

(06:28):
Where am I experiencing passion, joy, delight? What did I
learn over the last year about myself that I didn't
know in previous years? Or you know, where are my
taste buds evolving? And what that helps with is evolving
beliefs or value systems. And one of the cornerstones in

(06:51):
personal development and spiritual development is really being aware of
our beliefs and how they shift and evolve. And then
even deeper than that, what we value. And one of
the greatest gifts that I have recognized for myself and
I see in other people is the clearer I am
and what I value, the clearer it is, and the

(07:15):
more organic it is for me to demonstrate that through
my actions, interactions and relationships. So it kind of sets
the bar for me a little bit. One thing that
I do in the weeks leading up to my birthday
is I always clean house. And I don't mean like literally,
I clean out closets. I may believe me. I you know,

(07:37):
like for me, if I if I can't figure out
what I need to clean up, I'll clean a drawer
out or a closet out because that'll usually kind of
spark what needs to maybe be unearthed in me internally.
But I always think about cleaning house. You know, Amanda,
What loose ends do you need to tie up? What
do you need to follow up on? What have you
dropped the ball on? Where are there areas in my

(07:59):
life that feel like loose ends or unreconciled aspects of
my life or emotions gunk that is building up? And
for me, it's a practice of showing up in my
solar return where I can harness that vitality, because our
solar return is about revitalization, renewal, new beginnings. It is

(08:24):
like a news cycle of life where we get to evolve.
So why not use the time leading up mindfully and thoughtfully.
One thing that I do on and around my birthday

(08:44):
without fail is I pull cards for myself. I don't
pull cards all the time. I certainly will go to
and use oracle cards or tarot cards when i'm called,
but always around my birthday, I will pull a pretty
big spread, and I tell you, when I do this,
I probably spend about two hours journaling. I will use

(09:07):
the tarot for this. I don't even play with it.
I don't even go to my oracle cards. In some years,
I'll pull out three different decks, and I'll pull cards
from all the decks, so I get all different flavors.
It just depends on what kind of mood I'm in.
But the weeks leading up to my birthday and on
and around my birthday, I spend a lot of solitary

(09:27):
time with myself and my journal and my tools, but
especially my oracle decks or my tarot, and I pull
cards like what have I learned? What are my blind spots?
What am I missing? What do I need to know
right now? What could the future hold for me? And

(09:48):
I ask those questions and then I pull cards and
I journal and I think, and I tell you what,
when I do these really deep dives for myself, know,
I do them other times than just my birthday, but
my birthday is like, a'm non negotiable when I do that,
and I look forward to it because once I get started,

(10:08):
I'm just I'm I'm in the zone. But there's something
really mystical that happens while I do that, because I
start drawing parallels and I start connecting dots and recognizing
areas of my life in which I've grown or healed
and areas in which I am struggling or deeply afraid.

(10:33):
What's beautiful in that? And I find this every year
is that once I sit down and I spend that
beautiful soul searching solitary time usually when I outline it,
and it's kind of it's like invigorating and draining simultaneously.
But I find that whatever shows up in my seeking

(10:58):
and searching begins to unfold, or the insights the resources
began to appear on how to either reconcile something or
to create closure in an area, or to move forward
with greater clarity and trust and faith. So I encourage

(11:20):
you really to to really think about the power of
your solar return and using you know, and figuring out
when the sun will be at the exact point it
was at the moment you were born. And of course
if you have gotten into your natal astrology, you'll know
what house your son was in, So of course you

(11:42):
know the zodiac sign, but then you know the house,
and my son is in the fourth house, so is
my moon. And my son and my moon were conjunct.
So so my solar return this year was also a
lunar return, you know, like the sun was on my
sun and moon, so it was pretty poignant. And but
it was in the fourth house, and sometimes the fourth house.

(12:03):
I'm like, really, this is so boring, and I'm not
throwing shade on the fourth House, but maybe I kind
of am, because I'm like, gosh, why couldn't I have
had my son in the fifth house or the tenth house.
You know, we always want what we don't have. But
the fourth house evolves for me the meaning of it,
and I can do research and read books on the
fourth House and listen to other astrologers and there and

(12:26):
spiritual guides and their commentary on the fourth house. But
the meaning of the fourth house, it's hearth and home,
home and family, roots, safety, security, comfort, nurture. It's the
cancer house, right, but it is also the southernmost point
in the astrological chart. So it's our psychology, you know,

(12:47):
it is not our unconscious, it's it's really how we're
wired psychologically. So it's it's got a lot of underpinnings.
But when I dive in during my solar return and
I reflect on that something new clicks or something new
comes to light that actually isn't new. It was something

(13:08):
that I came in with that somehow got lost or
got covered up in terms of who I was intended
to be in this lifetime, and how the layers of
life and experience and pain and trauma and joy and
other people's expectations and circumstance might have clouded or concealed.

(13:33):
It's like more is revealed through those revelations during my
solar return. And that's what I'm impressing upon you is
around your birthday on your solar return, know how potent
it is not only to celebrate wherever you are and
whatever age you are celebrating, but also that it is

(13:58):
a time of renewal and revitalization. In order to harness
that or scale it, if you want to think of
it from a more business perspective, it's really good to
reflect and maybe clarify where the limitations are or where
the old strains and pains are, so you get to

(14:19):
dig a little deeper to go higher. That's the thing
about birthdays and solar returns that I think are so
enriching and lovely, and I encourage you all to really
use your solar return and the six weeks ish leading
up to that as a time of preparation, a time

(14:41):
of reflection and creating time for yourself at some point
during your birthday month, your birthday season, and the time
leading up to that, to really be intentional in that,
because I think there is something quite power full and
potent in the energy field that lines up that can

(15:04):
also propel you forward. And there's great astrology reports out
there where you can get a solar return report or
a birthday report. There's all sorts of reports, and we'll
put a link below if you go to Cafe Astrology.
She's got a ton of reports in her repertoire in
her shop, but I believe on Cafe Astrology, she has

(15:26):
a couple of solar return reports that are directly geared
to your birthday coming up. And if you haven't done
that and you want to dive a little deeper, what
those reports do is they outline exactly what you've got
going on for the year ahead on your birth date.
It'll tell you kind of the transits that are happening,

(15:46):
the astrological transits, because on your birth date and on
your solar return. You know, my solar return just happened
and Pluto was stationing direct you know, so us what
that signifies this year is very Plutonian, you know, I
know that. I mean, but I'm very Plutonian because the
Sun and the moon were conjunct Pluto when I was born.

(16:08):
So like it was one of those years where I'm like, yeah,
it's deep, dark and transformative, but that means there's going
to be more light, more transcendence, whatever that looks like.
So it was just potent for me. But if you
get one of those reports, I think you might find
value in learning a little bit more about your astrology

(16:29):
and the transits ahead. And it's fun too, and it's
cool to connect those dots, and of course it's giving
you a loose roadmap of maybe where some some things
may set you up. Hey, these are the blind spots
you might kind of encounter this year. Watch out for this,
or whoa, this is a year where there's a lot
of venus energy, so it is about love and beauty

(16:52):
and finances and relationships. Or you got a lot of
saturn this year, which means suit ups show up and
it's a year of getting mature. Sure, And again, none
of this is predictive in order to create fear or anxiety.
It's more like, hey, just be aware of things that
could be unfolding from maybe an astrological perspective, and that

(17:16):
has also been very helpful for me when I use
progressive astrology is what that is called. But Cafe Astrology
is a great resource, and like I said, she does
have solar return reports that you might find beneficial, so
dive into that if you're interested. And they're super affordable,
so it's like a minimal investment. It's one of those
things that you'll just you'll find interest in and I

(17:39):
think that you'll find very fruitful. But use your solar return.
Be magical, be inquisitive, and take some time to harness
that energy for your vitality because it is a very
loaded energetic time that essentially can set the stage or

(18:00):
your year ahead and wherever your evolution is pouring you out,
