Russo boy, he's mad about something has to do with
the Philadelphia seventy sixer fans. And yes, we tracked down

(00:25):
came to the rescue with the Diamondbacks Dodgers game the
other night, and he will join us coming up a
little bit later on. All the beg questions that you've
ever wanted to ask, we will ask and get answered
on this program. Good morning, if you're watching on Peacock,

operator Tyler sitting by taking your phone calls Celtics. They
blow out the heat, they close out the heat. mAbs
roll the Clippers. They're up three games to two tonight,
Bucks at the Pacers, Game six, the Knicks at the Sixers.
That'll be a nine Eastern start game six. Case you're
wondering entertainment purposes only according to DraftKings, the Knicks are

(01:35):
getting three, the Bucks are getting eight. I'm assuming then
that Dame and Giannis will not be playing if they're
getting eight points against the Indiana Pacers. As far as
the Knicks, I got some over unders here. I'm always
curious about that, specially with joelnbid this according to DraftKings

(01:56):
over under Joel Ebiid game six tonight, mar been gonna
start with you twenty eight and a half, all right,
Seaton O'Connor twenty six and a half, Paul.

Speaker 3 (02:07):
Thirty one and a half, Todd thirty two and a half,
thirty and a half for Joel Embiid on one leg
banged up a little bit has to be tired, not literally.

Speaker 2 (02:18):
He's got both legs out of there, Yes he has.
He has both legs. I checked Jalen Brunson over under Todd.

Speaker 4 (02:29):
Twenty nine and a half.

Speaker 2 (02:30):
Paul thirty three and a half Blue Blue Blue, Oh
Tyrese Maxey Marvin over under tonight.

Speaker 4 (02:40):
Thirty five and a half, Paul.

Speaker 5 (02:44):
Twenty nine and a half, Todd thirty four and a.

Speaker 2 (02:47):
Half, Seat twenty seven and a half, twenty six and
a half, twenty six and a half off night. Yes. Yeah,
so that's what we have coming up tonight with the
Knicks and the Sixers. And apparently the team moment owner
went out and bought a couple thousand tickets, which sounds

(03:08):
like a really nice gesture to give those tickets to
first responders. I think he's trying to ensure that the
Knick fans don't come in and gobble up these tickets
that somehow were available. Yes, Marbon, but.

Speaker 4 (03:21):
His Amtrak against the Knicks.

Speaker 6 (03:22):
Also because the last train leaving Philadelphia tonight is at
twelve eleven am.

Speaker 2 (03:27):
Twelve eleven am. Eight game starts after nine, never starts
right at nine. Is it gonna be like a nine
oh seven?

Speaker 4 (03:35):
I think so nine six nine oh seven, yeah.

Speaker 2 (03:37):
Ten o seven eleven oh seven. So you're gonna have
a little bit more time in there. The last couple
of minutes take thirty minutes. Man, you can't just go
from the arena right to Amtrak in Philadelphia. I'm not
sure how far that is, although I have made that

(03:57):
commute from the arena to a track, and at that
time of the night, trying to get out of the
arena traffic trying to get a cab an uber. You
can't run there. It's going to be tight. Missed that
last train staying in Philadelphia. Yes, Mark Hurts and Enterprise.

(04:18):
They're gonna have some business tonight. Yeah. Yeah, so the
last train out of Philadelphia. Yes, Pauline.

Speaker 5 (04:25):
That story you mentioned about the ownership group and Michael
Ruben and those guys buying tickets for the Sixers game,
it's interesting to see that it's being covered different newspapers.
The Philadelphia papers, owners step up, do the right thing,
buy tickets to prevent Knicks fans from coming down. The
New York Post Desperate embarrassed seventy six owners by two
thousand game tickets to keep Knicks fans from taking over

(04:45):
their arena.

Speaker 2 (04:46):
Well, I do think it's a great gesture, but it's
embarrassing that they got to the point where he needed
to make a great gesture and buy all these tickets, right,
because if the tickets weren't available, I don't think he's
going to go out and buy all these tickets and
give it to first responders. So, yes, great gesture, first
responders get to go. Don't know if they would have

(05:09):
gotten to go if this was again seven in Philadelphia
and it was sold out. But I agree with the
New York Post, which is rare that, Yeah, it seems
a little desperate here, trying to keep the nick fans
from invading, Yes, Seaton.

Speaker 7 (05:23):
I mean, really, what the story that we're talking about
is the Sixers owners are giving away a bunch of
tickets they already own. Yeah right, I know they didn't
really I know that they had to quote buy them,
but ultimately they're buying them from themselves anyway, So they're
really just giving out the ticket, probably.

Speaker 2 (05:40):
To diskind of rate that they're buying these tickets too,
right as well? All right, what value? I watched the
MAVs and the Clippers last night. I'm just curious because
I knew that Kawhi wasn't going to play, but I thought, okay,
is this where James Harden and Russell Westbrook junior, the
third step up, Paul George, you know he's going to
play well well. James Harden and Russell Westbrook went four

(06:03):
for twenty three. That's not good. And here we go
with this team moving into a new arena next year,
and you got the Kawhi Leonard question. Now he's getting
forty five million this season. He has missed one hundred
and eighty one regular season game since he joined the Clippers.
What's that five years now? One eighty one regular season

(06:27):
I'm surprised when he's playing they lose by thirty in
a pivotal It's always a pivotal game five. But the
bigger picture here is what do you do with him
for the next couple of years? And if you're Paul George,
what do you want to do James Harden, Russell Westbrook.

(06:48):
They do have a great coach in ty Loo, and
they have an owner who spends. But it's the Kawhi
question mark, the Kawhi issue, and I think they just
extended him in January, like what did you see in January?
Where you go? You know what? We asked him if
his knee is good? He said yeah, better lock him up. Yeah,

(07:09):
we we decided, Yeah he's needed. Okay, here, we're gonna
pay you fifty million dollars a year. And remember how
they kind of slanted the story a couple of years ago. Yeah,
but he'll be ready for the postseason. Okay. The last
time he was ready for the postseason he played in Toronto.

(07:30):
So he's not ready for the regular season, you know,
load management. Oh, he'll be ready to go when they
get Hey, when the lights go on, he'll be ready
and be like, no he's not.

Speaker 7 (07:42):
Yeah, that all may be true, but you know what
attendance is great. People are going to watch the Clippers. Yeah, okay,
all right, we're good. Okay, don't worry about winds Man.

Speaker 2 (07:52):
We got people. We got eighteen nineteen thousand a night,
whatever it is, you know, new arena coming on. Heck, yeah, kawhi,
it's gonna be there. Like he's on the bench. He
shows up.

Speaker 6 (08:04):
Yes, they are so fortunate to be in La, just
second fiddle because no one really cares that much. If
they were Lakers. Oh, this would be a different story.
And they did actually the same thing as the Lakers did. Yeah,
they got a big time free agent and they traded
the farm for a secondary star.

Speaker 4 (08:19):
Yep, there's still nothing.

Speaker 2 (08:21):
But I wonder. I wonder if Paul George is on
this team in a year, because he might look around
and go, what what am I doing?

Speaker 8 (08:30):
What?

Speaker 2 (08:30):
Like I had playing with these guys. Here's Paul George
after the game.

Speaker 9 (08:35):
I think the beauty of it is the older I've gotten,
the less pressure has been. Honestly, I think you know,
when it comes down to it, you work your tail
off all summer. You train for these moments to where
you know if you fail, you fel but you know

(08:55):
you just go out there and you give it all
you have. Live with the results. But it's far as pressure,
not anymore. I don't feel that pressure anymore. I'm not
out there to prove nothing to anybody. But what I
do want to do is just go and show up
for my teammates. You know, leave everything on the floor.
Like I said, you just try to be a leader.

Speaker 2 (09:15):
Okay. I don't want to hear that from ball George.
If I'm a Clipper fan, you may think that. Don't
verbalize that. I got no pressure. I'm good at a
big deal. I'm content with all I've accomplished, great living
in LA. I'm making fifty million dollars. I'm doing okay,
it's good. Yeah, but I'll get out there and I'll

(09:37):
go for a loose ball or so. I mean, he
at least plays came back from the devastating you know,
leg injury and he's still a really good, high end player.
But you're trying to Okay, I can't trust Westbrook anymore,
I can't trust Harden anymore. And then you know Kawhi

(09:57):
is not going to be in there. I it's I
would look around and go, yeah, there's no pressure. And
if you're fine with no pressure, but no chance of
winning a title. And it feels like the last couple
of years the Clippers have been there in the top
four or five odds on favorites to win the NBA title,
and I keep thinking they're not going to be healthy,

(10:19):
just not. And the older they get, I tack on
another year. Do you think these guys are going to
find the fountain of youth? And the answer is no,
But you lose by thirty. I know you don't have Kawhi.
You lose by thirty. And you know what they were
talking to Luka Doncik about after the game, his defense.

(10:41):
So game four, James harn got thirty three.

Speaker 9 (10:43):
Today, you guys walking down to seven points, it's something
different or something special.

Speaker 2 (10:47):
They guess did smoral Game four to game five?

Speaker 10 (10:50):
I think the Jones and Fiza, you know, they played
great defense. Kyrie was flowing great defense, you know, pressuring
him the whole time. Like I said, we're just locked in.
We communicate, Oh, we know there's counting, so we just
follow as carding.

Speaker 2 (11:03):
Okay, I'm gonna take his word for it, but we're
talking defense. With the Dallas Mavericks, by the way, Luka
Doncik had thirty five. He outscored the big stars there.
With the Clippers, I think he outscored the starting five.
So he had thirty five, twenty of the thirty five
in the second half. So now he has over a

(11:24):
thousand points in thirty three playoff games. There's four players
to score at least one thousand points in their first
thirty three career playoff games. Michael Jordan, Wilt Chamberlain, Elgin Baylor,
and now Luka don Chick. Who stead of a day,
start of a day, start out a day, stant out

(11:46):
a day, this is the start.

Speaker 1 (11:49):
Of the day.

Speaker 2 (11:56):
And Elgin Baylor had one thousand and fifty points, Mike
had one than one hundred ninety, Wilt one thy one
hundred and fifty four. So Lukadan chik is in there.
And once again he had the flu or he wasn't
feeling well and he's got a knee. That's a little
circumspect there. Not sure. He said he wasn't completely healthy,

(12:18):
but he was going to play. I don't know. The
diagnosis on his knee might be a spring but not
bad on one leg last night. As for the Celtics
in the heat, you know the heat on those nights
when they can shoot threes, okay, they might be able
to pull off his surprise like they did. They had

(12:39):
one of the worst shooting percentages in the NBA playoffs
in history. They went three for twenty nine. You know
what that is ten percent, ten point three percent. The
Nuggets twenty nineteen ten percent, went two for twenty, the
Jazz twenty twenty two against the MAVs ten percent, three

(13:01):
for thirty, the Wizards nine percent. That was twenty twenty
one first round versus the seventy six ers. So congratulations
to your Miami Heat, who are now on vacation.

Speaker 5 (13:14):
Yes, Paul, I think casual people could go three for
twenty nine. I know the NBA three is hard, but
that's drastic. And like you said, they're an above average
three point shooting team.

Speaker 2 (13:24):
Fascinating. Yeah, but they keep shooting. Yeah, that is the logic.
You know, the map says you gotta keep shoot your
way out. Well that's the way you do it. Yeah. Well,
great shooters shoot their way out of it. Not everybody
is supposed to shoot their way out of it. Hey, Jimmy,
Yeah that's enough. Yeah, just ask John Starks. Uh, John,

(13:45):
I don't know. Maybe maybe we don't shoot any more threes.
That's enough. Now I'm feeling pretty good. Tyler hero was
I think one of eight from three point range. That's
one of those where all right, I'm gonna watch and
then you go, I don't need to watch anymore.

Speaker 4 (13:59):
I'm good.

Speaker 2 (14:01):
All right, Well, get the phone calls, pull question Seaton.
What are we going with today?

Speaker 7 (14:05):
Yeah? I got one right now that I've been thinking
about all day. Worse to wrangle a bunch of bees?
Are a mad dog? M that's bath off of our
guest today.

Speaker 2 (14:18):
Okay, a mad dog? And then we have the beekeep.

Speaker 7 (14:23):
Would you rather wrangle a bunch of bees that are
swarming or would you try to get a mad, an angry.

Speaker 2 (14:28):
Dog off of you?

Speaker 11 (14:29):
Oh?

Speaker 2 (14:30):
Off of me? Yeah, you have to wrangle it, wrangle it. Yeah,
you have to control it. Well, I'd rather worry about
one than a thousand, because I have been tracked down
by bees, chased down by bees. When I stepped on
a nest, a nest that was in the ground, and
I think it was hornets, and all of a sudden,

(14:52):
the guy that I'm with, Tom, was running faster than me.
So they got me, and they stung me, and they
threw me in a bathtub full of ice because they
were worried that I would die with all of the
beastings that I had. So I would say, and I'm
kind of a dog whisper, you know, I think I

(15:12):
could talk to the dog and I could settle it
down a little bit, bease you can't negotiate with.

Speaker 7 (15:17):
You know, you're the only person that my dog Ruby
ever growled that in her whole life, her whole life,
she never growled at another human being except for you.

Speaker 2 (15:26):
Yep, that is true, that is true. I was at
Seatans for Thanksgiving my family was out of town. Seatan's
wife was pregnant, and Seatan goes, wait, come over and
I go, sure, and much to the surprise, I think
of his wife. But I was coming over there. I'm
watching the Lions game. Seatan's large dog, Ruby, gorgeous dog,

(15:48):
is sitting there looking out into the kitchen, and I'm
petting the dog and I'm thinking, you know, maybe I'll
get her to kind of snuggle with me a little bit.
I pull her front legs down, wrong idea, and she went.
Seatan's like, what what's going on? We go, no, man,

(16:08):
I just pulled her legs down, and what are you doing?
Why did you do that? I don't know why I
did it? Come here? Ruby? Yeah, yeah, the dog whisperer.
All right, We'll get an update on Lebron James's future. Also,
they're head coach Darvin Ham his future as well. And

(16:31):
in Minnesota beat Denver? Well they can? Will they beat Denver?
I like their chances. We'll talk to Tim mcmanimon. He'll
be a Dave mcmanimon. It's Dave mcmannmon. Is there a
Tim mcmanimon, Tim McMahon, who is there? You go, Dave
mcmanimon mister mcmanimon. Tim bond Temps was on this yesterday.

(16:56):
All right, I get it right here. All right, we'll
take a break back after this Dan Patrick show.

ESPN NBA reporter. He's leaving Los Angeles, going to Denver.
He'll cover the first two games, the Timberwolves and the
Nuggets that starts on Saturday. Dave, thanks for getting up

(18:04):
early with us. Let me start with the Clippers first.
Paul George said he didn't feel any pressure, and you know,
just going out and play, it feels like they're in
no man's land. How do you assess the Clippers moving forward?
Granted they're not out of the series yet, but losing
by thirty at home last night.

Speaker 8 (18:22):
Yeah, so they win Game four in Dallas, obviously they
could win Game six and bring it back home to
try to advance to the second round. But think about
all those stands in that arena last night. Crypto dot com,
you put up a goose egg lose by thirty to
the Mavericks, and you're trying to convince a bunch of
those folks to, hey, next year, we're gonna up the

(18:45):
ticket prices, We're going to be playing games in Englewood
and get extended for this group when you know, we
completely fell on our face in a similar fashion. I
remind you that not just the guys on the court underperforming,
but the face of this current team in street clothes
on the bench not even able to give it a go.

(19:06):
So just as about as abject of a failure last
night as possible. Of course, they can still win the series,
but you start to wonder this entire experiment, basically since
twenty eighteen, putting this group together, has it been worth it?
Because you see what's happening over in Oklahoma City. That
guy Shay gillis Alexander is going to be an MVP

(19:28):
candidate for years to come, and he's still going and
you traded him to get this mess.

Speaker 2 (19:34):
Yeah, but I look at Kawhi. They extend him in January,
what were they basing that on?

Speaker 4 (19:40):
Dave?

Speaker 8 (19:41):
I mean, he's certainly had stretches this year where he
looked really good, and that extension led to a run
in you know, January and February. I think they went
sixteen and two. They looked like the real deal, and
there was chemistry between Kawhi and James Harden and Paul
George and they all have that kind of shared La

(20:03):
background connection and it seemed to kind of make sense.
But if you can't play from April through June, I
kind of the entire operation revolves around that. If you
can't do it, what's the point?

Speaker 2 (20:18):
Yeah, because people would say, well, it's about load management.
He'll be ready come postseason time, and then he's not
ready postseason time, and then you go, you got three
more years here. I'm wondering if Paul George looks around
and goes, do I want to go through this for
three more years? You got hard and getting older? Westbrook
his role, Kawhi, You're not sure you got a really

(20:40):
good coach. But I wonder if Paul is the one
who says, maybe I need to get out of here, and.

Speaker 8 (20:46):
If he decides to do that, there's gonna be plenty
of suitors. You look at a team like the Philadelphia
seventy six ers, they're going to have cap space and
they're kind of knocking on the door of being at
that next tier of contender status. You look at it
team like the Orlando Magic that could get out of
the first round if they can come back from down
three to two to Cleveland. They have Pala Vankara, another

(21:08):
young stud, Jamal Moseley Coach the Year candidate, no state taxes.
There's some attraction there or maybe you go down the hallway.
If he made it known he wanted to play for
the Los Angeles Lakers. There are machinations place that the
Lakers could pull off to try to, you know, put
him in purple and gold. And so there are plenty

(21:31):
of options for Paul George. It's going to come down
to are the Clippers going to give him the number
that he wants to get, Because to me, like the
Clippers are by extending Kawhi, you're pocumitted already. Like, I
don't see how you kind of go one foot in,
one foot out at this point as you move towards
the into it Dome and opening up that new building,

(21:53):
I imagine they're going to keep it together. I just
don't know how much kind of belief that this group
is going to inspire in this city as the Clippers
try to siphon fans away from the Lakers.

Speaker 2 (22:04):
What are the options for the Lakers moving forward?

Speaker 8 (22:07):
Well, first of all, they need to make a decision
about head coach Darvin Ham. I'm told that as recently
as yesterday he still hadn't spoken to the Lakers' front
office in terms of his fate and what that's going
to be there's still a couple of days left this week,
and the team continues to go through kind of its
post mortem of what happened this season and why they

(22:30):
didn't end up where they wanted to be. You think
back a year ago, four playoff losses to the Nuggets
by twenty four points. A year later, four playoff losses
to the Nuggets by twenty two points. So they made
some great progress. But there I would anticipate that there
will be a coaching change there and then you have
to make that decision who that's going to be to

(22:51):
fill his role. And then I think the next thing
you look to is the point guard and Dangelo Russell.
He has a player option next year for eighteen point
seven million dollars. If he picks it up, does he
just become a trade piece that you can attach potentially
up to three first round draft picks to to try
to get someone that you feel like could be a

(23:12):
more reliable contributor on the postseason stage, because we saw
blameouts from Russell in the last two playoffs, even though
quite frankly, he was during the regular season this year
the third most reliable Laker.

Speaker 2 (23:28):
Talking to Dave mcmanhamon ESPNNBA reporter and he was covering
the Lakers series with Denver now Denver against the Timberwolves.
They tip off on Saturday. I know this sounds crazy.
I think it was brought up yesterday or maybe the
day before that. If look, Lebron does this podcast with
JJ Reddick, JJ Reddick being interviewed or reportedly interviewed with Charlotte.

(23:52):
Do you think that there's any thought in Lebron's mind
or how much of a role would he play and
who's going to be the next head coach? Would they
consider JJ Reddick because of Lebron's friendship partnership with him.

Speaker 8 (24:08):
Well, certainly Lebron's opinion is weighed by Rob Polinka when
he goes about doing his business, he calls him a stakeholder.
But that said, Lebron's opinion was known back a couple
of years ago when Lebron wanted ty lud be the
head coach to replace Luke Walton. That didn't happen. So
it's not just because Lebron puts the rubber stamp on

(24:28):
a guy that the Lakers are automatically going to ink
them to be the new guy running the sidelines. But
certainly his influence matters. And also the Lakers are a
glamour franchise. They liken to they like themselves to be
considered that way. And you get a guy with some
cachet and JJ Reddick if you were to pull him

(24:51):
off the number one broadcast team at ESPN and ABC
right off to the sidelines. A good looking guy looks
good in a suit. I mean, they did this with
pat Riley many many years ago, right and we saw
how that worked out. JJ certainly is a real candidate
if they do open up this coaching search. And but

(25:11):
there's there's you know, I'd say half a dozen folks
out there, included possibly the guy who just lost US
night against the Mavericks and toront lou He's had one
year remaining on his contract. What's going to happen with
his deal with the Clippers that there will be a
you know, a process there that there are several viable
candidates that will get an interview.

Speaker 2 (25:34):
How beatable are the Nuggets?

Speaker 8 (25:37):
I don't think so beatable. I know the Lakers gave
them a competitive series, but the thing about the Nuggets
is when it comes down to winning time, they have
so much continuity and confetence among one another, and they
have a superstar. They have the best player in basketball.
And I understand the ascending star that the Wolves have
in Anthony Edwards, but he is not where nikolay Yokich

(25:58):
is right now. So you can put in at any
part of the floor and he can kind of cater
his game to what he needs to do in order
to help the team succeed. It's remarkable, quite frankly. He
can turn into a passing center, he can turn into
a post up score, he can turn it to a

(26:18):
passing kick guy. And there's no sweat on his part
in terms of, oh, I wish I was doing this
more often. It's just whatever I can do to manipulate
the defense to help my team win. They have a
ton of confidence now. Obviously you saw Jamal Murray and
that calf issue hampering him a bit in the first round.
But they're gonna get four or five days to try
to get that right before they start the Wolf series.

(26:41):
I think it's gonna be a long series and competitive series.
Denver does have home court in it. I think that's
going to matter. I see Denver getting through that series
and getting back to the finals.

Speaker 2 (26:52):
Quite frankly, you don't have Steph, you don't have Katie,
you don't have Lebron, So you don't have your big stars,
recognized stars. Is this a good thing for the NBA?

Speaker 8 (27:05):
At some point you're going to have to get into
the new era? And why not it be?

Speaker 11 (27:10):
Now?

Speaker 8 (27:11):
Honestly, this Wolve's Denver series, it can't be more exciting.
You saw what the Wolves did in the first round
dispatching Phoenix and just the killer mentality that Anthony Edwards
displayed when they needed it. That guy is electric. Anybody,
if you watched NBA at all for the last forty years,

(27:32):
you're gonna blur your eyes and rub your glasses and
think at times you're watching the second coming or third
coming of Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant. When you watch
Anthony Edwards, that's fantastic, and you have him putting his
powers up against a true team that if you've been
watching the basketball last forty years and seeing teams like
the San Antonio Spurs and you appreciate their style of basketball,

(27:55):
you're going to get some of that too with the Nuggets.
And then on the other side of the isle, back
in the East, you have the most exciting Knicks team
maybe since ninety nine getting it done. And obviously the
Boston Celtics as another group that had been knocking on
the door. And you kind of always like to see
a team that you know has been kind of roughed

(28:16):
up a few times finally get through those past transgressions
or past disappointments to do something together as a group.
You know, there says something about the continuity that you
know with grosspec and that group has allowed that team
to grow with. So I think there's a ton of

(28:36):
great storylines, a ton of great players, and a ton
of like talented players who care about the game, care
about basketball. I think it's a great time to keep
watching the NBA playoffs and.

Speaker 2 (28:48):
Go back to Lebron and Bronnie. When does Bronni have
to make his decision if he's going to go to
another college or he's going into the draft.

Speaker 8 (29:00):
It's in I believe it's like the very end of May.
So there's still plenty of time here. You know, he's
officially in the draft pool right now, and I'm told
that he's been working out and trying to get his
body right. There's been no decision made. James family has
been very clear that's going to come down to what
Bronni wants to do. Now, there was a report in

(29:22):
The Athletic that the Lakers would be willing to draft
Bronnie James in order to get Lebron to sign a
new contract. Now, Lebron's made it quite clear for more
than a year now that at one point, yes, it
was his dream to play alongside Bronnie James on the
same team, share locker room, share buses, share film sessions,
all that stuff. That's not the case anymore, and that

(29:44):
hasn't been the case for a while. If it was
to happen organically, that's a wonderful thing. But there's no
demands from Lebron James and his representatives for the Lakers
to draft them. If you think about it, they had
the seventeenth pick, and that could be a pick that
they would package in a deal to get you another

(30:04):
talented player of the likes of a Donovan Mitchell or
Trey Young or de John tay mary Uh. They had
the fifty fifth pick, and if Bronnie remains in the draft,
I don't know if he'd still be on the board
at fifty five, So it's not so realistic for the
Lakers to think about drafting him. If Bronnie remains in
the draft, I expect him to be drafted by a

(30:26):
team and it'd probably be in the second round. And
those teams that would consider drafting him, they're not looking
at like, if we get Bronnie, it means we're getting Lebron.
It's not a package deal at this point.

Speaker 2 (30:37):
Save travels to Denver. Thanks for joining us as always,
hiks Dat Dave McManaman, ESPN NBA reporter and covering the
Nuggets and the Timberwolves. I like Minnesota's chances a lot.
I do. I like their chances. As I said before
about Denver, Denver has the best starting five, but I

(30:59):
just think you gotta have some depth. They had depth
last year. And if you're going to win another championship here,
you're going against a very interesting, big Minnesota team. You got,
you know, Rudy Gobert, he's your defensive player of the year,
going against Joker, you got Karl Anthony Towns, and of
course you got ant Man. And I don't know, just

(31:23):
feels Denver's great, but Minnesota is dangerous. Yes, Paul, there's a.

Speaker 5 (31:30):
Couple of Game seven possibilities on Saturday night, but also
Saturday night Timberwolves at Nuggets Game one, the spread four
not the series, but game one. Denver's given four and
a half points.

Speaker 2 (31:40):
Not a big spread. Yeah, I could see that, but
I think Minnesota's got to hold serve. If they don't
win in Denver, you go back home and then win
your games, and then maybe you go back there and
you're able to steal game five, but it's going to be,
you know, obviously an uphill climb with going against that
starting five is wonderful and Michael Malone has done a

(32:02):
great job coaching them, but they don't have the depth
they had last year.

Speaker 5 (32:06):
Yes, we're just talking about it in here while you
were discussing. That's a very watchable series from names and
star power and the quality basketball.

Speaker 4 (32:15):
It's a lot of fun.

Speaker 2 (32:15):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, And you wouldn't normally think, man, can't
wait to watch Denver in Minnesota. Now you're looking at that,
going dang, that's must see TV. All right, we'll take
a break, we'll get phone calls. Our play of the
day is up next.

Speaker 1 (32:30):
Be sure to catch the live edition of The Dan
Patrick Show weekdays at nine am Eastern six am Pacific,
on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio wapp Oh my god,
the play.

Speaker 2 (32:44):
Of the day, the play of the day. Check this out, art,
Le'll try it again. Hit it out.

Speaker 1 (32:53):
There was left lost the handle and here's the steal
from Tyrae. Here comes Tyree behind his back.

Speaker 11 (32:57):
That's the right time.

Speaker 1 (32:59):
That's the with a fowl, finishing with his left.

Speaker 11 (33:02):
Hand the right of the road.

Speaker 1 (33:04):
Are you kidding me?

Speaker 8 (33:05):
Mark?

Speaker 2 (33:06):
That's courtesy of the Mavericks Radio Network. Kyrie had fourteen
in the win. He has nine steals so far in
the playoffs, tied for fourth in the league. At your
Play of the day. Play of the day brought to

fees for the job seekers. Visit expresspros dot com to
find the location nearest you. And it's all quiet on
the Kyrie front. He's just playing great basketball, no drama whatsoever.
And they're a dangerous team. But watching Luca last night, now,
I don't get into all the history. Onics like he

(33:54):
loves to celebrate a little too much. From me, like
every shot he wants to stare you down, flex or
all of that. But there was one might have been
his last shot that he hit. Goes into the lane
and he hits a little floater and he just stands.
He just stands there and he's basically taking role of
all the people in the crowd, the Clipper fans just

(34:16):
kind of like looking at going all right, all right,
all right, But he does he does love to take
a victory lap or two, yes, hud.

Speaker 13 (34:25):
He also likes to whine incessantly throughout the game to
the officials when he's not doing that.

Speaker 2 (34:29):
Every great player loves to complain. It's rare when you
have a star, superstar who doesn't complain. How many of
those players, I mean even Tim Duncan, who didn't say much,
still complained. All the great players do because the officials
have allowed them to complain and they usually get the

(34:51):
benefit of the doubt on these calls. And I remember
one player who played against Michael Jordan. He said, we
tried it's you know, Jordan would go to the hoop
and we knew somebody was gonna get called for a
foul even if you didn't foul him. And it was like,
as soon as Mike went to the hoop, we tried
to get as far away from that official so he
couldn't go thirty two. I didn't touch him. Yeah, and

(35:15):
then Mike would, you know, kind of smirk and smile
when he went back to go to the free throw
line and make his free throw. Somebody's gonna get called
for this. I didn't touch him, Yes, you did, Yes, Marv.

Speaker 4 (35:28):
Mike had a great move.

Speaker 6 (35:29):
He would do like layups and he would smack his
own hand yep, and they would get a foul call
and Calbert Cheney what or George McLeod I didn't touch him.

Speaker 4 (35:39):
Yeah, I know, Jay Ryder, I'm sorry but that those
are the rule. That's Mike.

Speaker 2 (35:43):
But they they hear so you can hear the foul
and then they're gonna call, well, somebody hit Mike. I
got a call foul. Here a couple of phone calls.
Sean in Indiana, Welcome back, Sean. What's on your mind today?

Speaker 14 (35:56):
Hey, good morning, Dan, thanks for calling me back. I
just wanted to ask a question. The Salary Game has
such a great theme song, and I don't know the answer.
I'm counting on PAULI for the research. But I wanted
to know who has made the most money playing.

Speaker 11 (36:11):
The least basketball. Would that be.

Speaker 14 (36:13):
Kawhi, Leonard, Ben Simmons or John Wall. I'll take it
off the air.

Speaker 2 (36:18):
Wow, Okay, Sean gonna have our research department, which is Paulie,
look for that information there. Ben Simmons has got to
be up there though. He that's a lot of money
for not a lot of work.

Speaker 7 (36:30):
Kawhi has got a ring, He's got two, He's got two, yeah.

Speaker 2 (36:35):
And two finals MVPs. Right.

Speaker 7 (36:37):
I mean so that that alone is like, well, I'm
not gonna bag him too much for that, yes.

Speaker 5 (36:42):
Paul Yeah, Kawhi, Leonard and Ben Simmons aren't even in
the same category. Ben Simmons the last four seasons has
played fifty eight games, none games, thirty three games and
twelve games and he's not being paid quite as much.
But it's he's playing half as many games as Kawhi.
Checking this out.

Speaker 2 (36:58):
John Wall too, Yeah, John Wall.

Speaker 5 (37:01):
Was healthy, scratched, he wanted to play.

Speaker 2 (37:03):
They sat him down in what Houston and he didn't play.
I they are going to pay you not to play.
It's amazing. But if you look at percentage of games
to the amount of money that you've made. I'd be
curious about that. Uh Jake and Minnesota. Hi Jake, what's

(37:23):
on your mind today?

Speaker 15 (37:25):
Good morning, DP, Thanks for taking my call. I got
a stat of the day for you. James Harden actually
did set an NBA.

Speaker 14 (37:33):
Playoff record last night.

Speaker 15 (37:34):
Believe it or not. Believe it or not, he has
the most games with ten plus shots and two or
fewer makes. He has a total of ten of those
games in the playoffs.

Speaker 2 (37:44):
Thank you, Jake. Stat of the Day, stat of the Day,
That best stat of the day. Stat of the day?

Speaker 8 (37:52):
Here comes that?

Speaker 2 (37:53):
What stat of the Day? Stat of the Day? Brought
to you by Panini America, the official trade cards for
the Dan Patrick Show. Yeah, there's a difference between regular
season basketball and playoff basketball. James Harden is wonderful, or
at least he was during the regular season. Once you
get to the postseason, that's when teams actually try to
gear up and have a game plan for you. They're

(38:15):
going to be facing you four, five, six, seven games
and they have to have a philosophy. It's the same
team instead of oh, we're playing Cleveland tonight and then
we got Orlando, and then we go back home. Well,
James is great in the regular season, but he's been
terrible in the postseason. Arnaldo in North Carolina. Hopefully we

(38:37):
got spelling right there.

Speaker 11 (38:40):
Oh yeah, five ten sleek. I just want to know, Dan,
where are we at on the discussion. You just had
that Kyrie Irvan highlight play from yesterday. That was my
favorite player of the week, by the way, as far
as the most skilled player in the NBA. If Kyrie's
maintain's playing at the pace he's played this week and

(39:01):
goes on to get to the finals at least, how
are we feeling about that? Because I know you had
the discussion earlier this month and you were not with him.

Speaker 2 (39:09):
Well, he is talented, you know. I confused it with
the talent and then the end result. You know, Kyrie
hit one of the biggest shots in NBA history, you
know when Cleveland was able to beat Golden State. I
always wanted more from him. I think he's that talented.
And it goes along with the territory of you're one

(39:30):
of the most talented, if not the most talented player
in the NBA. What are the end results there? Didn't
end well in Cleveland, didn't end well in Boston, didn't
end well in Brooklyn, and right now he's playing well
good he should he's one of the most talented players
in the game. Like we're going, hey, how about Kyrie? Now, okay,

(39:54):
if you tell me he's the most talented player in
the game and he's getting you know, fifteen points in
you know, four assists, then I'd be like, Okay, that's
a disappointment, playing well, playing some defense. Still love when
he's got the ball in traffic. I love watching him.
But if you're going to tell me he's most talented player,

(40:16):
that's a disappointing career. Update the poll results. If you
can satan from the first town.

Speaker 7 (40:22):
Does that mean Kyrie is the Aaron Rodgers of whoa
most talented?

Speaker 2 (40:29):
But I don't know. That's not enough wins for me.

Speaker 7 (40:32):
No, just saying okay, just saying, all right, well I
did put up there. Is it worse to get attacked
by a swarm of bees or a mad dog?

Speaker 4 (40:42):
Right now?

Speaker 7 (40:42):
Swarm of bees is crushing at fifty six percent.

Speaker 2 (40:46):
But do you run from bees? I did? I ran
from I think they were hornets, but they were in
the ground. You can't really run from either. Both are
catching you. Well, we're going to talk to the famous
bee keeper who was there for the diamond back against
the Dodgers, and maybe he can give us some tips,
like what happens. Usually bees don't care about you, They don't.

(41:07):
They're all they care about is the queen. They take
care of her. Now, if they think something's going on,
then you got trouble.

Speaker 13 (41:15):
Yes to the instinct is to run, because if you
stay still and still get attacked, then you're left to wonder.
I wonder what would have been if I would actually
just run away instead of just got destroyed by them
by standing there.

Speaker 2 (41:25):
Well, you know there's logic on what you do if
a bear's coming after.

Speaker 7 (41:28):
You shout out to all my letter carriers out there
by the way, battling both daily.

Speaker 2 (41:33):
You didn't battle a bear, You just know dogs and bees. Though. Yeah,
our two on the way, mad dog Russo, is going
to join us.

Speaker 4 (41:41):
I see what you did.
