its first month on the platform.

Speaker 3 (06:54):
Is that crazy crazy?

Speaker 4 (06:56):
Did you watch it yet?

Speaker 3 (06:57):
Noa ya, I didn't watch it, you know, I watched it.

Speaker 7 (06:59):
I binge?

Speaker 4 (06:59):
That is it that good? Though I heard it was
just okay.

Speaker 2 (07:02):
It's a true story. I thought it was interesting. I was,
and it was disturbing in some parts. It's definitely graphic.
It's definitely going to make you be like, oh my god,
because it really does start off like a dark comedy,
but then it turns really dark.

Speaker 3 (07:15):
But I thought it was good. It was really good.
It was interesting. All right.

Speaker 2 (07:19):
Well that is your yet, and when we come back,
we have about last night that's where we discussed what
we did last night is way up?

What's up this way up with Angela Yee.

Speaker 2 (07:36):
I'm Angela Yee entered and Emmanuel is here, Maino's here
and it's time for about last night. And when I
tell you, guys, I have been probably the most stressed
that I've ever been in my life. Why because I've
been working on this new house and in addition to,
you know, doing this show, in addition to traveling, I'm
actually going to be in Atlanta, you know, all day

(07:58):
filming and doing yet another different thing.

Speaker 3 (08:00):
That's a job, that's a blessedful thing, but it is
a blessing, but it's what I'm moving parts.

Speaker 2 (08:05):
Yeah, I mean that's what makes me get through it
because I know it's like a blessing too.

Speaker 5 (08:09):
At the same time, I love to be in this situation.
It would love to so many people are not.

Speaker 3 (08:13):
I get it.

Speaker 2 (08:13):
It's hard when people keep telling you because I know
it is a blessing, but I also know it's really hard.

Speaker 3 (08:17):
At the same time. It's really I literally can't.

Speaker 2 (08:20):
Sleep at night because I'm like things do yeah, and
I'm so like stressed that I feel tense all the time,
but I'm excited to show you guys. I've been showing
y'all in the room like things I've been doing for
my name.

Speaker 4 (08:30):
I am in your house, right, like I have something
going on there. I got like a plaque with my
name on it. It's something about me that's in your house, right.

Speaker 7 (08:37):
Yeah, I have a toilet.

Speaker 4 (08:38):
Toilet no, but may wait to use your toilet.

Speaker 3 (08:43):
I know you can't.

Speaker 4 (08:44):
I'm bringing my own paper and everything.

Speaker 3 (08:46):
And I was so en Jordan.

Speaker 2 (08:47):
One of the bathrooms that I designed is wallpaper, but
it's a woman designed wallpaper.

Speaker 3 (08:52):
I'm gonna show you all all of this like on
social media.

Speaker 2 (08:54):
I'm really proud of it because I worked really hard
to get this done and so it's been really stressed.

Speaker 3 (08:59):
But what if at you Jordan's.

Speaker 7 (09:00):
Well, I'm working on my apartment too.

Speaker 3 (09:02):
I'm trying to help too.

Speaker 7 (09:03):
I know I need help because I'm about at deciding things. Okay,
I have a vision, but then I can't make a decision.

Speaker 2 (09:09):
I want to come see it and then I always
have Really I have some fun, good ideas, and I've
been like sourcing things from different places, so that could
be helpful because things like that really help somebody out
you they do.

Speaker 7 (09:20):
I need a consultation, I need a fresh pair of eyes.
I need that.

Speaker 4 (09:24):
If you need me to pick something up, okay, you
want me pay for it?

Speaker 3 (09:28):
Oh that's a good question. You didn't have any for
my table. I should have asked. See, that's what we're
supposed to do.

Speaker 4 (09:35):
I'm saying this is this is bullying.

Speaker 3 (09:38):
If it's going to help them. I have a perfect take.

Speaker 7 (09:40):
Perfect.

Speaker 5 (09:41):
I was suggesting for you to go, and I seen
you just pick up a man here, So I.

Speaker 2 (09:48):
Mean you didn't see anything pick somebody up to.

Speaker 3 (09:54):
It gets well in this room.

Speaker 2 (09:57):
But may know, we do want to discuss something serious
when we back, and that has to do with you
and some pictures that you posted on social media a
nice carousel, and when we come back, I want to
talk about you going back to Rikers.

Speaker 4 (10:09):
Island, but this time it's right as me.

Speaker 2 (10:11):
As you as Germaine's mano, you know, and what that
experience was like for you because you really did grow
up and actually turn eighteen, Yes indeed on Rikers Island,
and we'll discuss that. Go look at his Instagram page
and when we come back, I just want to hear
your perspective.

Speaker 3 (10:27):
It's way up.

Speaker 1 (10:29):
Yeah, you want to know my name way up with Angela?

Speaker 3 (10:35):
What's up? His way up with Angela? Yee, I'm Angela.

Speaker 2 (10:38):
Ye. Mano's here, Jordan's here, and we are going to
switch to something a little more serious and in depth
and personal. And I appreciate Mano for coming here to
share his experience. So let's talk about your posts on
social media and what it was like for you returning
to Rikers Island.

Speaker 5 (10:54):
Yeah, so shout out to Depth Hill and mister Neil
Anthony for bringing me on Rikers Island last week. I
got a chance to go to C seventy four to
four billion, if you know you know what that is.
I spent my first year of my tenuryear big on
Records islanda I got locked up as a kid. I
was getting in a lot of trouble in the four
billing and I spent a lot of time in one

(11:15):
main thing. And what was interesting about my visit this
time is the fact that I got a chance to
actually go into the housing areas and talk to the
young people. But I also got a chance to go
into the very cell that I spent when I turned eighteen,
So that was like, that was like an unbelievable feeling.
Can't it's hard to even describe what that felt like.
I felt joy and pain at the same time. It

(11:37):
was like, it's hard to put in words what that
feels like. To be able to come back there after
I've done so much to work on my life and
think about, you know, how it was in the time
I spent there and where I was at mentally, spending
nights and days in my cell not knowing where I
was going to be, what my life is going to
turn out to be, and going through all that, and

(11:58):
then being able to come back and inspire and motivate
some of the young ones and let them know that, Look,
I'm living proof that where you act, how you start,
is not the way you got to finish.

Speaker 4 (12:09):
And just because you're in here right now don't mean
your life is over.

Speaker 3 (12:12):
Do you remember turning eighteen?

Speaker 5 (12:14):
And I remember the day. I remember that like vividly.
You know, it was my first time in the being.
I had maybe I think about ninety days to do
in the bing, and the bing is twenty three hours
a day.

Speaker 4 (12:26):
You get three meals.

Speaker 5 (12:27):
It slid under your cell door and you just there
with your own self, looking at the wall, staring at
the wall, maybe writing a letter, maybe just doing And
this is way before I found music, so I really
had nothing but myself to kind of like dig into
my reserve strength, you know, because it was rough that

(12:47):
first time.

Speaker 4 (12:47):
It was really really rough, and I went back in
that cell and I.

Speaker 3 (12:50):
Was like, man, this is so little, right, this is
so sad.

Speaker 4 (12:55):
So it was definitely a moment for me. I had
to take a moment.

Speaker 5 (12:58):
So when you see the pictures, that's I got my
hand up home on my face. I'm really in a
deep thought, you know, because I really felt that I
kind of tried to like feel what I felt in
that time and in that moment.

Speaker 2 (13:10):
You know, well, I appreciate you for going there, for
sharing that with us, and I know that everybody was
excited to have you there, to see somebody that has
been where they are and to see where you are now.

Speaker 3 (13:21):
It's commendable.

Speaker 4 (13:22):
Yeah, thank you.

Speaker 7 (13:23):
That's so dope.

Speaker 3 (13:24):
Y see, Mano, you're not so bad. That's good new Mano.

Speaker 2 (13:30):
All right, Well, when we come back and thank you
for that, we have your yee t and we're going
to talk about Brian McKnight, Tyresee and Brian McKnight's oldest son.
There's been some controversy. You know, his concert got canceled
in Detroit because of him talking about his kids. But
how does this all tie in together with Ricky Smiley?
A lot of back and forth will break it down
for you. It's way up the news news list, in

(13:52):
the news that relates to you.

Speaker 1 (13:54):
These stories are flying under the radar.

Speaker 3 (13:57):
What's up?

Speaker 2 (13:57):
It's way you put Angela ye, I'm Angela yee, and
man I was here and Jordan and Malwell is.

Speaker 7 (14:02):
Here and Jordan or the radar.

Speaker 5 (14:04):
Now.

Speaker 2 (14:05):
A student who raised four hundred thousand dollars for a
DC homeless man has refunded the money to donors. It
was a series of TikTok videos that posted last week.
So I Graden is her name, and she lost contact
with Alonzo Douglas Hebron. That's the man she met in
late January on the streets of downtown d C. She
posted a video where she was getting his medication paying
for his hotel room. She started to GoFundMe and people

(14:28):
covered the story.

Speaker 3 (14:29):
It went viral.

Speaker 2 (14:29):
She raised four hundred thousand dollars for him on GoFundMe.
She was trying to help him, but then he ended
up ghosting her, and she said, I really did try
to help him.

Speaker 3 (14:38):
Here's what she said.

Speaker 9 (14:39):
That's all I wanted for him was to just get
the house and get the medical care.

Speaker 7 (14:43):
That's all I wanted for him.

Speaker 9 (14:45):
And it's like only so much I can do, Like
I cannot force him to go do certain things.

Speaker 2 (14:51):
Now, she decided to return the money to her donors
because she couldn't find him to even give him the money.
She bought him a phone, and then I guess he
lost the phone and hasn't been communicating with her. She
gave him some gift cards that were for food, and
he ran through them and then just kind of like
got evasive and left. And so she decided to return
the money and go fundme put out a statement at

(15:13):
the requests of the organizer, donors have been refunded.

Speaker 3 (15:17):
First of all, need her on my team.

Speaker 2 (15:18):
Because the fact that she was able to raise four
hundred thousand dollars.

Speaker 4 (15:22):
And how long did it take her?

Speaker 2 (15:23):
Oh, I don't know how long she had this up,
but you know what, this happened in January, so probably
only a few months and she's a college student, like
we said, and she definitely was trying to help him
and she did everything she could. She just wanted to
get him housing, some medical care, but she said, there's
only so much I can do. So now she's focusing
on her upcoming college graduation. But I can already tell

(15:46):
just her empathy and her smarts and being able to
market this and help raise money for somebody, she'll be
doing something amazing in life. So shout out to Sinaigraden.
All right, that is you're under the radar now. You know,
when we come back, we have your Way Up mix
at the time for the hour plus we're gonna be
talking to you, Jordan. I want to talk about something
that you brought up and you shared since everybody's sharing

(16:08):
things today on a summer house Martha's vineyard, where you
talked about your alopecia, and I know that's not an
easy thing for people to discuss. You are a model,
you're also a communications journalism got your degree from University
of Miami and your DJ. Yeah you know, so I
want to discuss that when we come back, and what
that journey has been like for you.

Speaker 3 (16:28):
Okay, yes, all right, it's way.

Speaker 2 (16:30):
Up, just like to talk like they Angeli Jane, like
they Angelie Jean.

Speaker 1 (16:35):
And she's spilling it all. This is yet way up.

Speaker 3 (16:41):
What's up? Its way up with Angela Yee. I'm Angela Yee.

Speaker 2 (16:44):
And of course you know my girl Jordan Emmanuel, my
guy Mana was here and let's get into some yet now.
There was an open letter that came out earlier this week.
A group of actors, filmmakers, and activists want Hollywood studios
to produce more stories and projects that prior prioritize social
impact following the closure of Participant Media. Now, Participant Media

(17:05):
has done some amazing films where they talk about things
like in the movie Spotlight, in Green Book, and Inconvenient Truth.
They announced that they were shutting down after twenty years
of movie making, and a lot of people felt like,
we need more movies that actually have a social impact,
and so there's an open letter now that are asking
for more of these types of films to be made.

(17:27):
People who signed include George Clooney, Aba Dubernet, Regina King,
Carrie Washington, Michael Keaton, Jane Fonda, amongst others. You know,
some of my favorite movies are ones that have a
message or that are educational for us. So I do
understand the need for things like that. And a lot
of the people who sign this are people who also
make movies that we want to see have a social impact.

(17:49):
So shout out to them for making sure that they
bring this to light. And it's going to be also
important for these same actors and directors and producers to
make sure those movies get made because they do have
the power to do that also, right, and the funds
and the funds, okay, it's biging of funds. Onyx Gentlemen's
Club in Atlanta, two hundred and fifty thousand dollars in

(18:12):
cash was taken from the safe.

Speaker 3 (18:15):
According to reports.

Speaker 2 (18:16):
Intruders use power tools to break into those safes, and
that's how it happened. It happened on Monday around four
fifteen am. It was two individuals who were covering their
faces with white ski masks and wearing gloves, and they
were able to gain access to the establishment. They cut
a hole into the roof. That has to be an
inside down because how do you know where the safe
is now? A few employees from Onyx shared with the

(18:39):
local news station. The robbery was captured by multiple surveillance cameras.
The recording last showed the suspects running away as they
exited the building. But the police are still investigating and
it doesn't seem the arrests have been made yet. Quarter
mill yes, and two people got to share that, and
that's that. I can't believe that when.

Speaker 7 (18:57):
You come out.

Speaker 3 (19:00):
Just way up, I can't believe they got away with
that too.

Speaker 7 (19:03):
That's crazy. Where was security?

Speaker 2 (19:05):
But again they had to know exactly where that staff was,
so that's something. Yeah, in the morning, no one was lingering,
all right, well that is your yet and when we
come back, we have asked ye eight hundred and two
ninety fifty one fifty is a number.

Speaker 7 (19:21):
Call us up.

Speaker 3 (19:21):
Any question that you have. We're here to help with.

Speaker 6 (19:23):
Its relationship or career advice. Angela's dropping facts.

Speaker 3 (19:27):
This is aske what's up? Its way up? But Angela yee.

Speaker 2 (19:31):
I'm Angela Yee, and Mano is here and I have
Raven on the line, and of course you know, Mano
is an award winning advice giver, so we are here
to help.

Speaker 3 (19:39):
What's up?

Speaker 7 (19:39):
Raven? Okay, Hi, how are you good?

Speaker 8 (19:42):
How are you?

Speaker 10 (19:43):
I'm going pretty good?

Speaker 2 (19:44):
All right, Well, We're happy to be talking to you. Now,
what is your question for asking?

Speaker 4 (19:48):
Ye?

Speaker 10 (19:49):
So my question is to kind of have a hard
time with like communicating when I get emotional, so like,
for example, like with my fiance, like something they bother me,
and I will just kind of just like just start
going off, like like just going off about.

Speaker 11 (20:04):
Everything that they have been bothering me for a year
instead of just like kind of focusing all what's going
on in the moment. And I do this a lot
with people that I care about.

Speaker 10 (20:12):
I noticed MARGIN need some advice amout how to properly
communicate what I'm trying to express as far as my emotions, talks,
arguments and fights with people.

Speaker 5 (20:21):
You got anger issues, I feel like that you need
to go to angle management first and foremost.

Speaker 10 (20:26):
It's a lot of subs the past.

Speaker 4 (20:30):
Yeah, but that's displaced anger.

Speaker 3 (20:32):
Trust MANO. He knows. But look, number one, it's good that.

Speaker 2 (20:35):
You at least know that there's an issue and that
you can acknowledge that there's things you could be doing better.

Speaker 12 (20:40):
Yeah.

Speaker 10 (20:41):
I'm a sweet person, but I have triggers and I'm
trying to figure it out.

Speaker 2 (20:45):
Yeah, And I think what's important is that a lot
of times when you do go to somebody who's an expert,
they can give you certain tools that you have that
can help you as far as how to handle things.
I know, for me, I learned early on instead of
speaking when I'm angry, I count attend awkwards in my
head before I say anything really, And I also know
that I don't like to have conversations in the heat

(21:06):
of an argument because I never want to say something
that I regret so well, it's not an easy thing
to do, but I do feel like the fact that
you want to work on it is the first sign
of okay, you know, taking responsibility and figuring out what.

Speaker 3 (21:20):
You need to do to move forward.

Speaker 2 (21:21):
And it's different for everybody, Like what works for me
clearly doesn't work for me.

Speaker 12 (21:24):
No.

Speaker 2 (21:25):
And I also feel like, because you said you bring
up everything that happened in the past, I don't know
if you're able to address things like while it's happening
before it spirals out of control, because sometimes some people
could wait till things really build up and then bring
it all out at once, and then every time something
happens to bring it up everything instead of, like you said,
addressing the issue that's at hand.

Speaker 10 (21:44):
When it's happening.

Speaker 5 (21:45):
I don't do that.

Speaker 4 (21:46):
I'll build up and.

Speaker 10 (21:47):
I should just express it, like can you help me out,
you know, instead of saying that, I'll let.

Speaker 2 (21:51):
It fester and you know what, and let him work
on it with you. You know, you have an issue,
you can let him know. Look, I know I'm trying
to work on this. Just be like, look, let's take
a moment. This is spiraling, Like, let him work on
it with you too, right.

Speaker 10 (22:04):
He does, and he definitely does and he has been,
so I appreciate that. That's why I'm like, it's kind
for me to get some help to Okay, I've been
helping and now I gotta put it on me now,
you know.

Speaker 3 (22:13):
All right, Raven, Well that's dope.

Speaker 2 (22:15):
I'm glad you called us up because I feel like,
you know, some people can't even acknowledge that they're like that.

Speaker 10 (22:20):
Yes, And I just want to say thank you for
your time. And I really admire you actually and appreciate
your time and everything that you do. I've been listening
to you guys.

Speaker 11 (22:27):
For so long, ah, thank you very years years. So
I really admire you and appreciate everything you're doing.

Speaker 3 (22:34):
And we love you too, Raven, thank.

Speaker 10 (22:36):
You, thank you. Just now I'm still watching it and
we we definitely appreciate you out here too.

Speaker 3 (22:40):
Okay, good see, we all are work in progress. All right,
Well that.

Speaker 2 (22:43):
Was ask Ye eight hundred two ninety two fifty one fifty.
And when we come back, you know, Jordan Emmanuel has
been guest hosting all week, doing a phenomenal job. She's
also I love service, so look for her guest hosting
there when our episode with Lind Whitfield comes out on Tuesday.

Speaker 7 (22:56):
But when we come back, we want to learn more
about your journey.

Speaker 2 (22:59):
And one thing that you sh shared on Summer House
Martha's Vineyard is dealing with alopecia, So you're willing to talk.

Speaker 3 (23:05):
About that, right of course. All right, when we come back,
we'll discuss it's way up.

Speaker 6 (23:11):
Way Up with Angela Yee more, now.

Speaker 3 (23:15):
What's up his way up with Angela Yee. I'm Angela Yee.

Speaker 2 (23:17):
And earlier my guy Mana who's here, shared with us
about going back to Rikers Island and what that experience
was like for him. He did spend a year there.
You turned eighteen on Rikers Island and now Jordan, you're
on Summer House Martha's vinia. Something that you shared about
yourself was interesting and very relatable to a lot of
people as well. You discussed having alopecia, So let's talk

(23:38):
about that because that's something that actually came up a
lot with Jada Pinkett Smith. Yes, and that whole situation.
So tell us about your journey.

Speaker 9 (23:47):
So, growing up, I always had great, big, healthy, long
hair and I never dealt with any hair loss or
anything like that until college. I was getting you know,
usual touch up for my roots, my perm, my relaxer,
and the front of my hair was just gone. And

(24:07):
that was my first experience using a wig. I didn't
know what I was doing. I looked absolutely insane. Nothing
was plucked, nothing was laid. And then six months later
my hair grew back. And never thought about it again
until twenty eighteen. I was doing a shoot and they
wanted me to relax my hair again. I had been

(24:28):
natural in between, but I didn't think anything of it,
and it just fully damaged the front of my hair.

Speaker 3 (24:34):
Wow, so they relax her is what did that? Okay?

Speaker 9 (24:37):
And it's just never been right since. So I've just
been kind of dealing with the regrowth and then it
falls out and then rinse and repeat.

Speaker 3 (24:45):
That is awful.

Speaker 2 (24:46):
And I see a lot of people though, because you
are beautiful, they'd be like, oh, just you have beautiful
bald And how does that feel when people say that
to you? Because it's also I think a lot of
what we do, you know, and men and for women,
our hair is important to us.

Speaker 7 (24:59):
Yeah, it's just a personal preference.

Speaker 12 (25:01):
For me.

Speaker 7 (25:01):
That's not my choice to go bald.

Speaker 11 (25:03):
You know.

Speaker 7 (25:03):
I'm sure I would look good with a little baldy.

Speaker 9 (25:05):
Yeah, but it's just not like a helpful thing for
people to write, like leave me alone, right, But I
get it, and I'm like, yeah, that's cute. One of
my friends, she has alopecia totalis, and she is she's
lost all of the hair on her body and she
looks fantastic. But I talked to her a lot about,
you know, dealing with this and figuring out what next

(25:26):
steps are. I'm not ready to go that route. I'm
trying this process called v cell right now, okay, which
is like a more extensive PRP and so they use
your own blood to circulate in your scalp.

Speaker 7 (25:40):
So we'll see how that works.

Speaker 3 (25:41):
Is it hard for you to share that openly on
the show.

Speaker 9 (25:44):
Yeah, because you know, you're always going to have those
people who are haters regardless, or they're going to make
comments as you go through something. But I pride myself
on being authentic and open with what I'm going through, right, And.

Speaker 2 (25:55):
Those are the people who don't know you. And then
you look at their page and you're like.

Speaker 7 (25:58):
You have somerre and there's troll pages anyway.

Speaker 2 (26:02):
Right, All right, Well, I appreciate you for coming up
here and sharing and for even telling your story on
Summer House Martha's Vineyard. Like we said, it's not an
easy thing to have to discuss, but it's great for
people to hear your story because you're not the only one.

Speaker 12 (26:13):
Right.

Speaker 9 (26:13):
So many people are impacted by hair loss, and that's
what I'm learning through all these messages.

Speaker 2 (26:18):
Okay, Well, when we come back, I thought this was
a great show today because everybody had a chance to share.

Speaker 3 (26:22):
I feel like I share all the time. So you
damn Mayo, no share. We want you to share, all right?
Next show tomorrow?

Speaker 2 (26:29):
Yeah tomorrow, all right, Well listen, of course you guys
are about to share because this show is all about you.

eight hundred ninety two fifty fifteen.

Speaker 1 (26:43):

Up with Angela Yee?

Speaker 3 (26:47):

Speaker 2 (26:48):
Its way up at Angela Yee? I'm Angela Yee. Mayno's
here all right?

Speaker 3 (26:52):

Speaker 2 (26:54):
You guys have been rocking with us pretty much all week.

Speaker 3 (26:58):
I may know you missed. I think he miss one
day because.

Speaker 4 (27:01):
You didn't want me here.

Speaker 3 (27:02):
Don't say that that's fat. I always want to Mana.

Speaker 2 (27:05):
When I don't see Maya for like two days, I'd
be like something's missing. Withdrawal, yes's withdrawal. But I feel
like Jordan's is going to be up pair a lot too.

Speaker 4 (27:14):
She's going to take it.

Speaker 3 (27:15):
Jacks Wace, why are you trying to have battles with people?

Speaker 4 (27:19):
This is what I'm hearing this. I'm hearing this.

Speaker 3 (27:23):
All right. Don't be trying to make them have distracted
against each other, you know, all right, never forget.

Speaker 2 (27:31):
But we appreciate everybody who's been participating, calling in the show, listening, tweeting.

Speaker 3 (27:37):
Talking to us.

Speaker 2 (27:37):
I appreciate you guys for sharing so much, and of
course our listeners who are like our family. You guys
always share so much, so we appreciate you. And of
course you have the last word.

Speaker 12 (27:47):
Hey, Angela, this is Jordan Cooper. I propose to my ex.
She said yes, and her sister proposed to me that
same year. I was undecided about that. Both of them
are getting married soon. Have a good day. God bless you.

Speaker 7 (28:04):
Angela.

Speaker 13 (28:04):
Yee, it's getting my belly all the way from Cordea, Georgia.
I just wanted to tell you I appreciate you so
much for give me the opportunity to be on the
radio when I called the last time. I want to
sound a light on you because you put so much
out there. You don't know what you do for people
like me. You got me out there. So many people
gave me feed back. They hurt me on the radio.
I got my own things off the ground legally if

(28:26):
I posted go back into the community. And I'm helping
this to me to change for the greater cause. A
step out of cloud
