me of sun Dance in that way, and that was
like a nice little vibe.

Speaker 1 (02:26):

Speaker 1 (02:28):
I got better dance moves than the tree. Okay, cool? Cool?
You know did you did you really? Like I heard
you last night you were talking about, you know, dropped
the the MVP award on your foot, that really happened, now, okay, okay,
I was like, no, no, like low key that the
trophy is heavy.

Speaker 4 (02:45):
No, I wouldn't have gone out there if I did,
Like I'm very clumsy and I don't think I would
have let's say, your heels on like it would have
been like.

Speaker 1 (02:53):
No, like she got she got now she got the
lebron feet, Like I know what that did?

Speaker 3 (02:56):
You?

Speaker 1 (03:00):
I mean, have you ever thought about, you know, your
love for the game, clearly the shows that you helped create.
Have you ever thought about an NFL centric show, you know, oh,
take a baller's in a you know, on a real.

Speaker 4 (03:12):
Life feel like because Ballers Bollers was on in like
the same time the Insecure West Oh the Rock got that.

Speaker 3 (03:17):
But I wouldn't be mad.

Speaker 1 (03:18):
I have a male perspective, It's true and what's from
you know? He was all professional and I'm like, bring some,
bring some like funny.

Speaker 3 (03:24):
I love the sports world and I would like.

Speaker 1 (03:27):
If theres a female GM, you would go crazy.

Speaker 3 (03:30):
Are you casting in it? Are we making the show
right now?

Speaker 1 (03:32):
I mean the low key I felt like I'm trying
to usher into the right direction.

Speaker 3 (03:35):
Are you going to be in it?

Speaker 1 (03:37):
Usher?

Speaker 3 (03:37):
Because he's get you got write this show.

Speaker 1 (03:42):
I would love an EP like you know I've got
I've got one out there and it learned like that's
what like when you do a group project on it.
I love that one.

Speaker 3 (03:51):
Trust me. I have been on.

Speaker 4 (03:52):
I have been on the vanity side of EP credit
and it's nice. But I've also been on the receiving
side where it's like you get all this money and
you're not doing nothing.

Speaker 1 (03:59):
So that was me.

Speaker 3 (04:00):
That was okay, congratulations.

Speaker 1 (04:02):
I would love to be on like the work part
of that.

Speaker 3 (04:05):
You know you you do.

Speaker 1 (04:08):
I'm willing to do the work.

Speaker 3 (04:09):
It's fine.

Speaker 4 (04:09):
I feel like if we didn't NFL show, you be
an excellent consultant, and that's really like that you would
earn your EP credit and use me.

Speaker 1 (04:17):
Don't just don't just use my name, use my knowledge.
I got some stuff up here. Take you up on that.
That was just my pitch to you.

Speaker 3 (04:24):
Okay.

Speaker 1 (04:25):
How close is it to like you know, you're talking about,
you know, possibly created a TV show. How close is
it to actually creating your own studio? I've seen, you know,
guys like Anthony Mackie from from Louisiana to start one.

Speaker 4 (04:34):
Like yeah, you know how close somebody comes to the land,
like we've been ready And it's just I wanted to
be in a very specific part of l A, l A.
It's just there's not that that many opportunities, so I
have to get it while I can. So we're having
a couple of conversations and we'll see.

Speaker 3 (04:50):
But I love that. I want it, Like that's mine
north Star.

Speaker 1 (04:54):
I love that wife. You's from from from so Cal.
You know, we beet she from Pasadena, she dost bo
but she's you know, I make fun of her like
you're not really familiar.

Speaker 3 (05:05):
Thank you people from.

Speaker 1 (05:07):
La so you're from Altad, so let's not do it.

Speaker 3 (05:12):
You're from now, You're not.

Speaker 1 (05:14):
Absolutely, That's why people sacramental saying they're from the Bay,
exactly saying they're from the Bay. I said, okay, cool.

Speaker 3 (05:22):
Actually I might have said that one, and then I
was quickly correct.

Speaker 1 (05:25):
At the college, you're not.

Speaker 3 (05:30):
Nobody could tell me anything. That's all we had.

Speaker 1 (05:32):
Okay, how did you get here? So, like, you know,
at football at thirteen years old, my dad was like, hey,
I played football. You played football.

Speaker 5 (05:40):
Now.

Speaker 1 (05:40):
I was like, sure, dad, we're in the situation, this
legacy thing, and it worked out well for me thirteen
years into the NFL April Bowls to hit six Pro Bowls.
I'm not saying I'm better, but like that's what the
legacy is for, to for that legacy. Yeah, Like how
did you go from content creator to kapon?

Speaker 3 (05:56):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (05:56):
I just really wanted to do it and the Internet,
Thank god the Internet came along, because this hard to
break into this.

Speaker 3 (06:01):
I know, like hearing your dad like you kind of
had a path. You knew what it looked like.

Speaker 4 (06:05):
I knew what it looked like on the television screen
and in film, but it's hard to get there when
you don't have anybody guiding you or to look to.
So for me, it was just making stuff online and
then eventually getting the attention of.

Speaker 1 (06:21):
Oh you you like my smile, this mouths, Oh my gosh,
I stopped playing.

Speaker 3 (06:25):
Oh yeah, that was the path. That's how I'm here.
We love that.

Speaker 1 (06:30):
I'm all here for everybody getting there. They're just desserts.
Give people flowers by the here.

Speaker 3 (06:35):
I agree, I love flowers.

Speaker 1 (06:37):
So so tell me about your prosecco.

Speaker 3 (06:40):
Via lo.

Speaker 1 (06:42):
Look we just we just had that way.

Speaker 3 (06:44):
You gotta sa can you say an Italian accent? Okay,
I regret asking?

Speaker 1 (06:50):
Yeah, sorry, Italiano is not my I've been to Milan
in Rome and you know, like even.

Speaker 4 (06:55):
All the places, I feel like you have a little
bit in you. But yes, I love Italy percent that
is my drink of choice.

Speaker 1 (07:02):
So Italian food topped your Let's let's talk. Let's talk
be a rate and we can talk about.

Speaker 4 (07:05):
The military way. Wait wait, oh, I can't wait to
have this conversation. But Vray is my prosecco. Like I'm
a big persecco drinker. I associated with my best moments
in life, and so I've been drinking it for so
long and people, because of Insecure and other things that
I've done, started drinking it, and I was like, Oh,
if they're drinking it because of me, then I wanted

(07:27):
to be from and so I made my own and
I'm so excited by people are really rocking with it
right now.

Speaker 1 (07:34):
You went to like the whole tasting.

Speaker 4 (07:35):
Oh my god, that was the best part. I just
went to Italy tasted, you know, like had This has
been like a two to three year process of trying
to get it, you know, get it right, and to
find the right partner and all those things. So I'm
so satisfied that I have something where I'm like, oh,
I won't get tired of this.

Speaker 3 (07:51):
This is my drink.

Speaker 1 (07:53):
So I'd say, I'm trying to be like you, but
like I've got like in about two more years when
my tequila goes and yehoe, I'm gonna hit you up
about it like Jordan's coming out.

Speaker 3 (08:03):
But what's your Italian take? I need to know your
Italian food sake?

Speaker 1 (08:06):
Oh yeah, let's talk about this right, and this in
the pantheon that is a fat kid of loving food
right all my life. Look forward to desserts, look forward
to chiros. You know trestles, so clearly I'm a Mexican
food lover.

Speaker 3 (08:16):
Mexican I live phenomenon.

Speaker 1 (08:18):
From Arizona, So top tier for me. Mexican food, then
soul food, like I need the collar, I need them,
and I'm gona judge you by your mac and cheese.
I need fair, I need a hamhock, and I would
like a good neck bone every now and again. You know,
if I can get a turkey lag, I look forward
to carnivals just for the turkey legs, you know.

Speaker 3 (08:35):
So second you lost me so quick at the Turkey Lake.

Speaker 4 (08:40):
Well yeah, I mean because you're not you're not talking
about every day you can't eat I could eat every day,
but you can eat soult food and turkey legs every
day like Mexican food. I can't every day. Fist I
could every day. I could eat Mexican food for life,
could eat every day. No, I look forward to soul food.
So that's my indulgence.

Speaker 3 (08:55):
Okay, if that's an indulgence.

Speaker 4 (08:56):
So we're talking about like there's indulgence foods and then
there's you know, I can eat this every day every day.

Speaker 3 (09:03):
I can eat.

Speaker 4 (09:03):
Italian food every day because it runs the gamut and
I actually Lasaiga is phenomen.

Speaker 1 (09:09):
Lasigna is top tier that it's a food cake. And
then you go to Italy, so you say you love
Italy Italy and you're like like, yeah, let me get that,
let me get that tag over here, and they barely
put any bowlonnaise on it, like I got like and
ask you for more sauce.

Speaker 4 (09:25):
And the host Yeah past is the star out there,
which I respect. I'm like, y'all made pasta. Yeah, tell
me how to Actually I don't like the way you
run it. I'm going back to America.

Speaker 3 (09:36):
Yeah, we gotta run everything now, we do everything in excess.
But I'm not mad at.

Speaker 1 (09:39):
It, and I'm not taking I'm not taking Japanese like
I'm never not gonna gonna take Italian food over Japanese food.

Speaker 4 (09:44):
Japanese food, no disagreement. Japanese food is number food for sure. Yeah,
that's like three, that runs up my top three. Okay,
we're back on board. You lost man soft food in
Turkey leg but back on food. Mexican food what exactly?
That's what That's all I'm saying.

Speaker 1 (09:59):
So you know your connection with with la and making
a point to build your brand there clearly you said
it was your north star. Just because you come from
somewhere doesn't mean you want to give back to that community.
Why is that so important for you?

Speaker 4 (10:11):
I mean, I still live there, so I see, you know,
what the community needs are. I see like as a
community member, what I want to see, and so it's
just if I have.

Speaker 3 (10:22):
The ability to do it, it's just like why not?

Speaker 4 (10:24):
And I I know so many, so many of my friends,
so many and my family members are still there, so
they're constant conversations about what we can do to help
shape the community because we're there and it's active.

Speaker 3 (10:36):
So it's just kind of a why not situation more
than a why do it?

Speaker 1 (10:41):
Yeah, why wouldn't I do that?

Speaker 5 (10:42):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (10:43):
Exactly?

Speaker 1 (10:44):
I love. I love like you know clearly, I'm I'm
from Arizona, but I'm in New Orleans and here we
go like you know, like just because I'm from Arizona
means like I go back and I give back a
little bit. But I'm in New Orleans every day, so
I know the needs. It's different when you know the
needsactly exactly. I can't wait to get home and create
my my carbon footprint back home in Arizona. But every
day what life. My kids are from New Orleans, Like

(11:05):
I want to impact something where it's like a legacy build.
You have New Orleans kids five or four Magnolia baby.

Speaker 3 (11:11):
My god, O snap, there are they gonna have access?
For sure?

Speaker 1 (11:15):
Hey? For sure? Yes, they're gonna be eight years old
talking about Yeah. So anyway, my daddy, you as long
as they do. I sound like t I, I'm good
with it. Daddy House, I'm like, you gotta go get
out of here.

Speaker 6 (11:29):
Man.

Speaker 1 (11:29):
You so you been out here and uh, you know
clearly this week? Just how is that NFL S fandom
sort of crossed over? Is there an intersection of oh girl,
I love you from insecut or for guys? Is there
is it such a fan girling for guys, like from
fan boys, fan boys for a woman.

Speaker 4 (11:47):
Boys for for this show, but they'll put it on
her girl.

Speaker 3 (11:50):
They'll be like, I like my girl. And I was like, yeah, man,
I loved Insecure.

Speaker 4 (11:55):
I mean you know, my girl made me watchually, but
like I was like, you have to.

Speaker 7 (12:00):
I see the episode because the drum was I but
I appreciate the viewership anyway, Dudes like really got into
it because of you know, the Lawrence character and they
could relate to I guess a lot of the mails
in the show, and I appreciate.

Speaker 4 (12:15):
Yeah, the love has been been great, But I'm really
gonna noodle on your NFL show.

Speaker 3 (12:20):
Or a Sports World show.

Speaker 1 (12:23):
Yeah exactly.

Speaker 3 (12:24):
Yeah, I'm not mad.

Speaker 1 (12:25):
You can go from the GAM agent, but I just
felt like agent had already been done done, That's what right,
And so I was like, if you go GM now
you really you know you you boss you you h
and I see.

Speaker 3 (12:36):
When this show comes out, I just don't want you
to feel any way.

Speaker 1 (12:38):
I will love having people have I love having people.

Speaker 3 (12:41):
This is crazy.

Speaker 1 (12:42):
I shot my first podcast with me and my teammate
mark Ingram and it was like us but we didn't
have this.

Speaker 3 (12:47):
Like this is audience too, that's just you know here
and right and this is this is legit.

Speaker 1 (12:55):
I'm smalling on another level, Like I got people.

Speaker 3 (12:58):
Now you needed to drinks, Like if we drinks, I'm.

Speaker 1 (13:01):
Working on it. I'm working on someone is just coming
here with the blanco from Cam Jordan. You need you
need a repo. I'm not gonna do that. I'm aila connoisseur,
like as you have a love prosecco.

Speaker 3 (13:13):
What's what's the right one? Is it really a no?

Speaker 1 (13:15):
Uh? For some for you? I enjoy and yaloe at times,
but uh, if I want to know like the flavor
and like really go up from there, I started repo,
have you been to Mexico? Come on, I'm from Arizona?
Like all right, you know, No Gallas is all of
two hours away? Been in No Gala so many times?
Cabo can Coon I needed to loom. I got up.
I got boy who owns who's building a hotel right

(13:38):
outside of Cabo? Uh?

Speaker 3 (13:39):
And whatever.

Speaker 1 (13:40):
I'm gonna mess up that name every time, so I'm
not gonna go for it. Yeah, yeah, I love I
love traveling though, are you are huge on traveling?

Speaker 3 (13:48):
Big travel girl? Like last year I went to probably
the most countries I've ever been to.

Speaker 1 (13:52):
And I just was like one favorite one.

Speaker 3 (13:55):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (13:55):
I went to agree to Athens and that was that
was just like a on the.

Speaker 3 (14:00):
Map I was.

Speaker 1 (14:02):
I was Athens and what's and one of those other islands.

Speaker 3 (14:07):
I haven't been to all the islands yet, but I'm
gonna make my way. But it was so random. The
food was fun.

Speaker 1 (14:12):
I like to go real mediterran I'm telling you that's
another top fiver.

Speaker 4 (14:19):
I'm gonna say, out of Europe, Italy and Mediterranean food
like they hold it down all other European food.

Speaker 1 (14:27):
I'm sorry anyway, pinchos from Spain food.

Speaker 3 (14:31):
I'm sorry because I have it. I don't really know
it was you wasn't impressed, Okay, I just I don't
want to Portugal. And everybody was like, Portugal, that's the
best food you ever gonna have, and I was ready
And it's real.

Speaker 1 (14:44):
It's reels up there too. Now I like to seafood.
Huh so where's yeah, where's your favorite spot? Like favorite,
like favorite spot to visit. We're gonna take Italy out there,
because clearly you're a Italian lover.

Speaker 3 (14:52):
I went to. I mean, uh, Mauricious, have you been there?
I don't even know you? Like Mauritius?

Speaker 1 (15:03):
Where is that? Is that a country?

Speaker 4 (15:05):
It's like, yes, it's name. It's in Africa, but it's
an island and it's absolutely gorgeous. They have the most
gorgeous people. The water is amazing. And that was also.
I just wanted to fly Emirates for the first time,
and I was like, where does Emirates go? Let me
tell you.

Speaker 3 (15:18):
I was like, oh, where they got Mauritius, I have
never heard of this, and I.

Speaker 1 (15:21):
Went that I'm not I'm not gonna lie to you.
I did Emirates on a honeymoon and use all types
of points. So he was gonna forced class technically for
the free steam. And when I tell you, it changed
my life. I'm supposed to be a Southwest guy. I'm like,
everybody's first class on Southwest and here I am like,
but yeah, chef coming around, do you have any food? Alga,
don't do this. I'm not ready to be all catered

(15:44):
to in the air.

Speaker 4 (15:45):
I've never recrited. Nothing has topped that experience. I've had
some great experience.

Speaker 1 (15:49):
So I've believe been to the Motherland twice, like I
knocked off what eyp?

Speaker 3 (15:55):
I need to go?

Speaker 1 (15:56):
Okay, yeah, we'll talk about it and then you know,
like it was great when I felt I felt empowered
going back. I walked around, I'm like, my brother, how
about you?

Speaker 3 (16:06):
Did they claim you claim me?

Speaker 1 (16:08):
As you know? That's what I'm saying, my brother, come here.

Speaker 3 (16:11):
I'm just like that was my surprise.

Speaker 4 (16:14):
That's why I was a little reticent to go to
Egypt because I was like, I don't donna claim me,
you know, but I'm from well, my family's from West Africa.

Speaker 3 (16:21):
They're from Senegal and I've been there. Pirates, that is
not that's the Mali.

Speaker 1 (16:27):
So that was my bad. Okay. I was like saying
it was okay, pirate tired, Come on, I want I
want you to go to another country. I did Ghana.
I went to crawl, you know, like I've been called
an achrom my whole life. And they were like, welcome
to a cross like that miss magical.

Speaker 8 (16:46):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (16:46):
And the food was so good, people so kind, West
African food, warner, and I love Ethiopian food. I don't
know if you have that for sure.

Speaker 1 (16:53):
Oh yeah, people think you're Ethiopian all the time.

Speaker 3 (16:56):
Oh my gosh. I just saw this.

Speaker 1 (16:58):
Saw he's either Ethiopia or a reaching and I'm like,
I'm I'm like forty per Nigeria.

Speaker 3 (17:03):
Oh you must be disappointing people.

Speaker 1 (17:06):
And I'm like, I'm yeah, it has.

Speaker 3 (17:09):
To be somewhere at any age, it has to.

Speaker 1 (17:10):
Be Yeah, did you do it? Yeah? Already, I'm Nigerian.

Speaker 3 (17:15):
There's nothing that everybody Nigeria, everybody, it can't be true.

Speaker 1 (17:19):
I'm gonna have to, like I see ancestry in twenty
three and me and I'm like, maybe, remember I have
to go to the African ancestry one.

Speaker 4 (17:26):
Like, yeah, everybody's not Nigerian. I'm sorry ancestry everyone. I'm like,
y'all gotta do better.

Speaker 1 (17:30):
I mean, slavery in a part that I was real.

Speaker 4 (17:31):
So like maybe I'm saying that, like they didn't do
the additional research. They were like, oh this is the port.
Let's this is the port they clearly came to. Yeah,
I mean that might be true.

Speaker 3 (17:41):
No offense in Nigerians. I'm sure people want to claim you.

Speaker 1 (17:44):
So I mean, let's let's round this back out. You know,
just just thinking about things that I that I've done.
Maybe we've been similar to I've never been on the
on the on the cover of a magazine and you
like you're not like I've been on like a football one.
I'm taking that out of there, Like I want I
went beyond that, you know, like in terms of my vainness, right,

(18:06):
I'm like, I am too handsome not to be on
a you know, right, just claim speaking to existence. So
you've been on You've been on the Time magazine cover
and like did that even rank on your boocket list.

Speaker 3 (18:17):
What do you mean? I didn't even know that was
possible for me. Honestly. My publicist hit me up.

Speaker 4 (18:22):
She was hyper ventilating so excited, like I secured this,
and I was like, it just didn't register the time
because I was just like, you.

Speaker 3 (18:30):
Have to be really to me. It's going to be
important to me on time.

Speaker 4 (18:34):
And we did it for like Barbie, and I was like, oh,
Barbie's gonna be a significant more moment and that's really
that has nothing to do with me. That's like Margo
and Greta's movie.

Speaker 3 (18:43):
So I but we love the flair that you introduced
in the movie. But yeah, thank you appreciate that.

Speaker 4 (18:49):
But so then to get on a second time cover
with just me, I was like, is this like why?

Speaker 3 (18:55):
You know why? So it was a huge honor. And
my dad doesn't really comment anything I do, like he
occasionally tapping and be like okay, good good job, but
time he was he was all up on my line.

Speaker 1 (19:07):
Was that was?

Speaker 3 (19:08):
That?

Speaker 5 (19:08):
Was?

Speaker 1 (19:09):
That was your moment with Pops?

Speaker 3 (19:10):
For sure?

Speaker 1 (19:10):
You are proud of.

Speaker 3 (19:11):
Me, Yes, exactly, you love me? Thank you?

Speaker 1 (19:16):
I feel that one. Yeah, there's been some some cool
moments in my NFL career and like maybe maybe the
first Pro Bowl was like the first time I felt
that he like I had done him justice.

Speaker 3 (19:25):
You know, competitive, not at all, not at all.

Speaker 1 (19:28):
He was so over yeah, minus making me play football,
like he was so over the computer. Yeah. I was
a basketball guy, you know, like everybody wanted to hoop,
everybody wanted all that. And like at thirteen, I was
probably like five seven, one hundred and ninety five pounds,
a little fat kids, you know, like hooping like little
butterball out there, Like come on, I was. I was
getting it in and he was like, your frame is

(19:49):
going to change drastically. You're going to play football, Like
not Dad Hooper dreams me living it now. And he's like, yeah,
so anyways, here's your pads, here's your helmet. And I
was like, I was like, so, you know, pouted that first.
Like a couple of weeks, game comes around. I'm sitting
on the bench and I've never sat on the bench
a day in my life, and so I'm sitting on
the bench. I'm like, I mean, no, this gotta change.

(20:09):
And so then I turned up and I really enjoyed,
like I've always wrestled. I got an older brother. I
was got beat up by he did. He did a
little bit until he broke something in his foot and
it was like, I'm out, that's the hard thing. I'm like,
but I broke something and I embraced it. I was like,
I love the pain, and that's how you knew I
was a sick. Oh. So you know from there, football
has been nothing but awesome.

Speaker 3 (20:27):
That is hard to watch. Honestly.

Speaker 4 (20:29):
Anytime I'm watching and I see y'all get injured, I'm
just like, how are they gonna.

Speaker 3 (20:33):
Come back from this?

Speaker 1 (20:34):
Yeah? Knocking wood, Like we never prayed for injuries, but
I love those hits crazy that they were like like, oh,
that needs to be a flag. I'm like being soft this.
I'm like, right here, this is what we're made of.

Speaker 3 (20:45):
That's different, different, different.

Speaker 1 (20:48):
Yeah, gotta be like you gotta and like it lived
this life this past season like tour, a cinismosis in
my ankle and something else, and I like him, you're
going down. I was like, who's going down? I wrap
this up.

Speaker 4 (20:59):
Let's ride because y'all learn new body parts, you know,
when you get injured, and that's crazy, like I've never
heard of that in my life.

Speaker 3 (21:05):
And I don't need to.

Speaker 1 (21:05):
Yeah, I don't need to have that. Yeah, that part
of me. Yeah, we taped it up and I was like,
it's not getting there. I was like, I was like,
I'm pretty sure it's high kol sprain, but it's not.
I feel like it's not getting there.

Speaker 4 (21:15):
I've never broken a bone in my life, Okay, okay,
and so like you bringing up me saying dropping that
trophy on my foot, I really would have been out,
you know what I'm saying, Like I would have not
survived that.

Speaker 1 (21:26):
That could you could have been one of our top
tier receivers or DB's like they get real diva.

Speaker 3 (21:33):
Ish, don't get protected.

Speaker 1 (21:35):
Yeah, exactly, like a quarterback like rules now, like if
you hit a quarterback, like they like, stop the game,
make sure he's okay, pat him on the back, give
him some warm milk, and like trying renal bedtime story.
It's real cute. Yeah, it's real cute. I'm like, damn,
he's soft.

Speaker 3 (21:47):
You know, he carries the game.

Speaker 1 (21:49):
That's what they say. Yes, just what they say. Is
there anybody you're looking forward to working with in the future.

Speaker 3 (21:53):
Anybody I'm looking forward to working with?

Speaker 1 (21:55):
Yeah, not that I'll be waiting on my phone waiting
for the call like.

Speaker 3 (22:00):
That that's not to be secured that.

Speaker 4 (22:03):
I really want to work with Viola Davis and Denzel Washington,
like I just have to, Like they are the the
pinnacle of I think representation for sure, yes, and just
like not only talent generally, but of course for us
black talent. Like looking looking at them and all that
they have accomplished and all and violence fairly new, especially

(22:26):
compared to Denzel.

Speaker 3 (22:27):
But has just made.

Speaker 1 (22:29):
Sex fame height.

Speaker 4 (22:31):
She she's been working forever, but like Denzel has had
it since like I've been out. She's just getting her
her showers in a major way. But yeah, I would
love to just find a way to work with them.

Speaker 1 (22:44):
Violent. When she did that Little Warrior, The Warriors the
Woman King, whoa damn goodness.

Speaker 4 (22:50):
I love that she was able to play a role
like that, you know what I'm saying, Like and it
was a successful movie and she was so phenomenal.

Speaker 1 (22:58):
So yeah, well man, that's dope. I hope that happens
for you.

Speaker 5 (23:01):
Thank you.

Speaker 1 (23:02):
I appreciate you tapping in with the pod for for
all that you are in the in the world and
the intersectionality of you coming over to this football world.
I appreciate you.

Speaker 3 (23:10):
I appreciate you. Thank you so much for having me.

Speaker 9 (23:29):
Kearvi and I are so excited and just hype to
get into this interview. We've been sort of chatting like
little kids backstage because we remember when we got the
call that said we were doing this interview, So we
were imagining what was it like for each of you
when you got the call that said you're going to
be performing in the pregame for the Super Bowl. It's
the first time for each of you. MIT's rebell start
with you.

Speaker 6 (23:49):
Well, when I got the call from my manager, Justin McIntosh,
he said, I got an offer for you.

Speaker 3 (23:54):
I said, okay, what is it?

Speaker 6 (23:55):
He said, no, I can't tell you until Rex gets
on the phone with you. Rex Atlanta's my boyfriend. And
I said, well, that's very strange. And I said, okay,
he's sitting around here.

Speaker 1 (24:04):
What is it.

Speaker 6 (24:05):
Well, You've got an offer saying the national anthem at
the Super Bowl And I said well, and Rex said.

Speaker 8 (24:09):
She'll do it.

Speaker 1 (24:11):
So where does she have to be in what time that?

Speaker 6 (24:15):
And I'm like, well, did you know you're going to
do it? So he was very excited and I got excited.
But in that two seconds, you know, you're thinking, what
am I going to wear? What is it gonna entail?
What do I have to do to be prepared? So no,
he entered for me, and so yeah, here I am.

Speaker 3 (24:33):
Yes.

Speaker 10 (24:34):
I don't remember what I was doing or where I
was because that's just how my memory works. So I
just remember in the moment. I you know, my managers
had been talking to me about it for a while
and the possibility of doing it, and then we finally
got the call that was like, oh my gosh, you're
going to do it. And I remember a similar thing
immediately in the moment. I was like, I'm nervous right

(24:55):
now for something that doesn't happen until February. I was
just like it was November and I was like, oh
my god, what am I going to do?

Speaker 11 (25:00):
There?

Speaker 10 (25:00):
Like you have months to prepare, and yeah, you'll be nervous.

Speaker 3 (25:04):
You know, it'd been.

Speaker 6 (25:05):
Better that you just said would you do it last week?

Speaker 2 (25:07):
Right?

Speaker 1 (25:07):
Right?

Speaker 3 (25:07):
Exactly right right, and I can just go on the moment.

Speaker 10 (25:10):
Yeah, I think, yeah, the anticipation, but I was excited.

Speaker 3 (25:17):
I was very excited.

Speaker 1 (25:18):
You brought up you brought up outfits, and I was like,
I don't have to worry about this. I just grabbed clothes.

Speaker 10 (25:24):
You have all of these sets just in your closet sets.
I got it on the closing Okay.

Speaker 9 (25:31):
Cool, Only it's only post What about the when the
call came for you?

Speaker 1 (25:36):
I thought it was a meme.

Speaker 3 (25:38):
No, but no, it absolutely wasn't.

Speaker 5 (25:40):
And I was like, all right, yeah, yeah, I was like,
same thing, same thing, so nervous. I wish you know
last week, would you have done it last week?

Speaker 2 (25:51):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (25:51):
Absolutely, I already did it.

Speaker 5 (25:53):
But yeah, it's uh, you don't even really like now
that it's actually like happening.

Speaker 3 (25:59):
It's like.

Speaker 5 (26:01):
I wasn't nervous until two days ago.

Speaker 3 (26:04):
Now it's right, you're right.

Speaker 5 (26:05):
So it just because I initially I was like, you
might want to double check that. I'm like cool to
do it, but I'm I'm very honored and very excited
to do it, and not nervous one bit.

Speaker 1 (26:23):
In terms of, like, you know, being a player, I've
always been like, all right, let's get the national anthem
over so I can go right right. But the older
the older I get like, I'm it's changed now, I'm
like I enjoy the theatrics of it all. I'm like,
you know, the fighter plane flies of national anthem. So
now I'm like locked in. I'm like, yep, this is
my time I start that off. But like you know,

(26:45):
now I'm starting to listen to them. I'm going back
and I'm listening to everythings. So listening to these national anthems,
you realize that Whinnie Houston is widely recognized. Right the
top the greatest national anthem performance of all time? In
ten seconds, give us your two top nap and the performances.

Speaker 9 (27:00):
Yeah, if you have to, or even.

Speaker 6 (27:04):
Yeah, my favorite ones, well, Whitney, I love Chrisple, he
love the way Gareth Kelly Clarkson, O, Lady Gaga love that.

Speaker 3 (27:20):
You know.

Speaker 6 (27:21):
You know, it's a real honor. But it's a lot
of stress because of the people who have gone before you.
You gotta make them proud. That's fair love stress. We're
not gonna talk about it.

Speaker 9 (27:31):
Yeah, we hope that by the end of this you
guys will feel a lot less. Therapy said, yes, we
all need to.

Speaker 3 (27:43):
That is You're right, He's happy, right, Andrew?

Speaker 9 (27:45):
What about for you?

Speaker 10 (27:47):
I mean, Whitney, you know, I mean that's definitely the top.
I also, uh right, just at the super Bowl. Yeah,
definitely Whitney. Uh, Chris Apleton to a huge fan, I
think he's amazing. Beyonce was amazing. So yeah, yeah, those
are definitely my favorites, top favorites. I also, I just
got to throw it in and I'm sorry. I also

(28:09):
heard it was not at the super Bowl, but Jasmine
Sullivan did. Yeah, lift every voice to see it. She
is like your favorite singer's favorites. She's amazing.

Speaker 3 (28:18):
So everything she does inspires me.

Speaker 10 (28:20):
So that's my favorite, regardless of you, for sure.

Speaker 3 (28:23):
Yeah. Whitney and Ribot, Yeah, well playing I love that.

Speaker 5 (28:35):
I heard Zach Wilde do it.

Speaker 3 (28:38):
Wow.

Speaker 5 (28:40):
Now everyone's like it was It was really really It's
just like a little segment of this solo, but it
was really well appreciated.

Speaker 3 (28:47):
It like ripping.

Speaker 1 (28:51):
Yes, it is something about me going up. I feel
like I'm going up mentally as well, like you know, appreciate.

Speaker 9 (28:58):
This is you got here, Well, we're there and we're
examining things. We know how much this this not ways
on you guys, but you carry it with so much
pride when you think of the audience and how they
receive it. This this is one of those moments where
everyone's like it's starting right post. What do you want

(29:20):
the audience to feel from your performance?

Speaker 5 (29:23):
I don't know. I'm know, happy, excited, get everybody ready
to go.

Speaker 3 (29:30):
I don't know.

Speaker 5 (29:30):
I'm I kind of went with that's pretty stripped back.
So it's just kind of kind of me singing a song.
So it's just a song everyone knows and the song
everyone loves. And I don't know. I don't want to
like personal, I guess or you know, whatever, because we know.

Speaker 3 (29:53):
I'm not the best singer, but I don't know who
knows that. Who's Yeah, I get what I hear you.

Speaker 11 (30:06):
I hear you, but I guess heart felt, heartfelt, and
really just because I care, that's.

Speaker 1 (30:19):
The most important thing to me.

Speaker 10 (30:21):
Yeah, I mean, that's a fantastic answer.

Speaker 3 (30:23):
I care, you know.

Speaker 10 (30:24):
So I think I think what I want people to
you know. I mean, this particular song, you know, is
definitely from from the archives right of our culture and
our ancestors, and I think it's really you know, obviously
we hear the word representation used a lot, but I
think it is important, you know, And I think I
think what I want people to feel for me spiritually,

(30:44):
I want people to feel God that's that's what every performance,
you know, that's you know, I want people to feel
and whatever that means for them right a moment, you know,
and and I want people to feel, you know, like
obviously I'm not unaware that there are split opinions and
how people start about me singing this song, but you know,
I would like people to kind of move those things

(31:06):
from their heart and really just take a moment to
pause and to just to choose to choose love and
to choose togetherness in the moment, because you can. I
think you can choose peace, or you can choose turmoil
or stress or anxiety. And so I think if people
allow you know, themselves to be quiet and allow the
spirit to speak, allowed the moment to speak, then I
think we'll have a really beautiful moment of you know,
togetherness and love those things.

Speaker 9 (31:27):
So I love that we're not for you, Reba, what
do you want the audience to feel?

Speaker 3 (31:32):
Informant?

Speaker 1 (31:33):
There's a lot of dudes.

Speaker 6 (31:34):
Yeah, there's a lot of separation, there's a lot of
different opinions. But when we step up and sing these songs,
let's kind of forget all that crap. Let's join together
and be grateful and thankful, thankful for all the people
who have done what they have done to ensure our peace,
to ensure our freedom. Let's join together on something. And

(31:57):
when is a better time than at the super Bowl
with three vocalists getting out there baron or heart and
her soul and singing our little hearts out.

Speaker 1 (32:06):
Yeah, it's true, man, that makes that makes a lot
of sense. Reaba for you.

Speaker 3 (32:12):
I'm just gonna keep it real, right, I.

Speaker 1 (32:16):
Knew back and tied because of the TV show. Right,
My mom's favorite TV show was always on, you know,
and in that time, you're still always on. So growing
up there it was like fresh frits.

Speaker 3 (32:27):
It was our show.

Speaker 1 (32:29):
We're watching you know, you're catching both vibes there spanning
multiple generations, Like how does how does that make you feel?
Or to have a fan base that does truly span
multiple generations? Like my mom has attachment, I have attachment.

Speaker 3 (32:43):
I can't.

Speaker 1 (32:44):
Kids will probably throw on a song one day, And
how does it make you feel to have that? What
does it mean to you to have a fan base
that spans multiple generations?

Speaker 6 (32:53):
Very grateful, very thankful, very appreciative. Somebody said, what's your
fan base? Age?

Speaker 1 (32:59):
Just two to eighty two.

Speaker 10 (33:01):
I guess there you go.

Speaker 6 (33:03):
You know, this is a full circle for me singing
the national anthem. I got my start singing the national
anthem in nineteen seventy four. Fifty years later, that was
at the National Finals Rodeo. Here we are at the
super Bowl and National Finals Rodeo is kind of the
super Bowl for the Rodeo, and so here I am

(33:23):
so honored, so grateful to get to sing the national
anthem at the super Bowl. So it's it's been a
lot of years, fifty and I am just beyond grateful.

Speaker 9 (33:34):
Yeah, it's a blessing deal.

Speaker 3 (33:36):
Yeah big.

Speaker 6 (33:37):
I am not taking it for granted.

Speaker 3 (33:39):
Yeah, it's crazy.

Speaker 9 (33:40):
You know, Post earlier you said how it's like it's
just me singing a song. It's stripping it down all that,
And then I think of the lift every voice and
singing the national anthem, and I think for the two
of you, it's it's making it your own right, just
like Post is talking about America is beautiful. How have
you navigated that pressure of me at your own but

(34:00):
being true to the song that everybody loves in a
moment like this, And I'll start with you, Well.

Speaker 6 (34:06):
When everybody sing along with right, So if I do
a little, you know, everybody's gonna welcome. She's gonna be
finished here in a minute night.

Speaker 3 (34:18):
Part is. I can't do that.

Speaker 6 (34:23):
With it, but you know I want everybody to sing along,
enjoy it, not be taken out of the moment. When
she did that, where's she going with this? And you
know it's everybody's saying how long is it gonna be?
Is it gonna be a fast one? Is gonna be slow?
And I thought it would be kind of funny. Started
out real slow and they're chance.

Speaker 3 (34:44):
Keep it on their toes emotions.

Speaker 1 (34:46):
That's what the artist.

Speaker 6 (34:49):
Started off.

Speaker 1 (34:50):
Just bring that all out.

Speaker 8 (34:53):
Started off, there's over unders on, over unders on.

Speaker 5 (35:06):
Mind this is a quick chance to make some money.

Speaker 9 (35:13):
Andrew you you talked a little bit about it, just
knowing the significance of the historical relevance, especially for the
back community.

Speaker 3 (35:19):
This has been a lot of fun.

Speaker 9 (35:24):
How have you navigated really thinking about how you want
to attack this performance?

Speaker 2 (35:29):
Uh?

Speaker 10 (35:30):
Well, you know it was a partnership actually, so Adam
Blackstone did the music for it. Yeah, he's so amazing,
you know, so it's so funny actually.

Speaker 3 (35:37):
Him and I called him.

Speaker 10 (35:38):
I was like, I was like, we need to pray
before we put this together. He was like all right, cool,
and I was like, so let's do it. And so
I've just navigated by, you know, like just I think
like you said, I you know, for me, it's reflective, contemplative,
you know what I mean. For me, A lot of
things are worship. You know, I say that a lot right,
redundant but thank you, Yeah, repeating theirs repeating, but no,

(36:07):
so that that's that's kind of how I'm approaching it,
you know what I mean. I'm sort of just you know,
and like she said, I want everybody to join in,
not just in the words, but also in the spirit,
you know what I mean. So that's kind of just yeah,
just delivering the song and the words. You know, I
don't want to I don't want to do too much
or too little, basket. I don't want to overthink it, right,
I mean like I want to be to the moment.

Speaker 1 (36:28):
You know, you have to be true to yourself. Yeah,
it seems like, you know, the inspiring and uplifting is
like clearly what has made.

Speaker 3 (36:34):
You you especially.

Speaker 9 (36:40):
Iconics on that.

Speaker 3 (36:44):
So now it feels like it's like.

Speaker 1 (36:47):
What does performing a song like lift every voice. You
sort of alluded to it, but what does it like
really truly mean for you guys for a stage anyways?

Speaker 5 (36:56):
Uh?

Speaker 10 (36:56):
I think for me, the first thing that comes to
mind is like a genesis, right, you know, at least
for this period in this time, not a genesis for
the people who came before us. Like she said, she
talked about honoring the people who fought and the people
who actually lost their lives and who you know, not
to sing the song, to speak these words, to live
their lives, you know. I think it's I think it's

(37:16):
we don't we shouldn't lose sight of that, you know
what I mean, as we you know, move forward into
the future. But it also feels like a genesis because
it's really exciting. This song has only been sung three
times at the Super Bowl, the first time vy Alicia
Keys untelevised second time by the amazing both of them
amazing women sheryly Ralph last year, who is also my
birthday twin. Yeah, I know it's kind of kind of funny,

(37:36):
but yeah, so I think to be able to step
into their shoes and to honor these women and honor
the people who came before me is amazing, But it
feels like a genesis in the sense that I really,
truly do look forward to a future when it's less
of a conversation to sing the song just is a
normal space where all of our kids, you know what
I mean. It's it's very much a part of their

(37:58):
pantheon of music when they go to a sporting event
or you know, to an award show or whatever. It's
it's very normal for them to hear these words and
these different songs that represent a multitude of people, you know,
because that's what we look like, you know what I mean, right,
Representation is key always.

Speaker 9 (38:32):
What I love about the Super Bowl on this stage
is that it is a celebration, of course, of the
two teams that are on the field, but also a
celebration of where culture and music and sports all come together.
I mean, no better representation than Post right now in
his Dallas Cowboys jacket and boo and booth.

Speaker 3 (38:49):
Off camera, it was.

Speaker 9 (38:51):
You and Posts riffing off each other because you know,
you had some questions for Posts about his fandom too.

Speaker 1 (38:56):
Yeah, I mean, I don't want to know, like, you know,
there's this there's so many and he's like, you're a
Cowboys guy throwing through, through and through, you know. But
like I know Travis Kelsey and we've talked about it
after Super Bowl. He was like, yeah, man, that post
alone you know.

Speaker 3 (39:10):
He got me and that is that Your trampas amazing.

Speaker 1 (39:15):
So I was like, like, couldn't let itu slide. We
were working out in Florida, whatever it is. I'm like, nope,
run that back. So like you guys were playing what
beer palmers were playing? And I want this to be known.
They're they're fine players on the beer table. Great guys,

it was Canes and I have everybody know I was.

(41:28):
I was the first guy ever, not ever, ever, first
guy that I knew. And I started putting everybody on
knes because everybody go get Chick fil A before the
game and that stuff, and I was like, try this spot. Yeah,

Todd at a festival and you're like, let's do He's
