(00:00):
I am fired up to have mygood friend Rick Lewison's studio with me.
What up, man, man?You know what I'm fired up to Ryan,
I am sitting in Dave Logan's chairhere. This is the captain's seat
right here. I wasn't gonna sayanything. I mean again, you guys
are close. You guys are veryclose. But that's Dave's seat. You

(00:20):
know what, My self esteem justwent up a couple of notches just sitting
here. Man, I'm feeling waymore important than I normally do. This
is cool. That is Friday, man. I'm excited to be here with
you. Let's that coover is aDave in the hotline. He's already already
letting us know, right but no, we're thrilled to have you here.
Both Dave and all are off today. They'll be back with us on Monday.

(00:41):
But boy, we get a lotto talk about today. I mean,
there's this the Nuggets last night, which was a tough loss. We'll
get into some breakdowns to that.Scottie Scheffler, the best golfer in the
world, getting arrested this morning onhis way to the PGA Championship. We'll
fill you in on what he didthis afternoon, which was a tremendous round,
second best round out there. Sowe'll get to that. We got

(01:02):
the Abs with a chance to keeptheir series going with the Game six here
in Denver tonight. Plus we gota lot of Broncos conversations to get to
my friend, you got plenty totalk about, no doubt about it.
We probably should start with the Nuggetsthough, because yeah, I'll put it
like this, and I said this, just send this to Mandy. It's
like kind of like the Miami Dolphinsloss last year. Last it's a loss,

(01:25):
right, I mean, yes,it feels worse in the moment it's
a fifty point loss or in thiscase, forty five point loss. It
feels brutal, and you certainly wantto question a few things about, Okay,
what was our effort, like whatwas our game plan? Like right,
same thing we said about the Broncoslast year. But the end,
whether it's one point or forty five, it's a loss. And you did
have the Game seven back here inDenver available to you. I wonder Rick,

(01:51):
how much of that mindset seeped intothis team and at what point in
the game did they realize, youknow what we don't have it tonight.
Let's put our effort into Game seven. You know, I finally got a
chance to watch a full game becauseit was an early tip last night,
and I was absolutely stunned and acouple of things. Number one, the

(02:13):
lack of efforts. I was reallysurprised a lot of guys just standing around.
They weren't fighting for rebounds, theyweren't fighting for loose balls. They
were completely dominated and outplayed by theTimberwolves. Now, going into the game,
remember on give you the money,I predicted the Timberwolves would win a

(02:34):
cover and I also predicted it wouldgo under. But I wasn't expecting the
Nuggets to only score seventy points inthe game. They only scored nine points
in the fourth quarter. Well, but again they pulled the starters with ten
minutes remaining. Still, Mom,you're outscored by twenty points in the fourth
quarter, and I was out Imean, you were outscored every quarter,

(02:57):
right, you were outscored by sixteenin the first quarter, like two in
the second, by six and thethird, and then you have by twenty
points in the fourth and that waswithin their backups too, So right,
they were they were laughing you they'rerunning. I mean, you were down
by fifty one point and you don'twant to. I mean, you can
look at Coober. I'm sure hecould check this out. But I don't
think there's ever been a reigning NBAchamp lose by forty five points in a

(03:20):
playoff game. There hasn't no,that has never happened before. It never
happened before. That was one ofthe few, right, it was the
worst loss obviously in franchise history inthe playoffs. There was a bunch of
markers said, there's an interesting thingthough, because they did see like,
you know, Yo Kitchen, youknow, reigning MVP. That was the
stat reigning MVP one of the worstlosses ever or second, I think second
worst loss for an MVP. Andyou had to go back to like the

(03:43):
nineteen sixties or something like that. And I was like, well, Joker
didn't play a whole game, Like, it's not like he played the whole
game and they lost by forty five. He played, I don't know,
kind of a little over three quartersof it, sort of. I don't
know. Again, I think it'snatural to see that there's a sticker shock
of losing by that much. ButI'm not overly concerned because I know what

(04:06):
this team looks like when they're playingtheir best ball, and I still think
they're the better team. Yeah, getting your doors blown off when you're the
raigning champ like that and you havethe best player in the world on your
team. That being said, theant man might be the second best player
in the world. He looked incrediblelast night. Joker had a bad night.
Everybody had a bad night. Andas we talked about yesterday with Dave

(04:30):
Logan when we were talking about thegame coming up last night, the strategy
is you shut down Joker, youstop him, and let everybody else beat
you. And that's what they did. And Joker not only had a bad
night, the whole rest of theteam had a bad night. Michael Porter
Junior hasn't even showed up in thisseries yet. John Murray is having a

(04:51):
horrible shooting series. I don't knowif he's got an injury, and now
we know if iut Cat has severalinjuries. Now he's got an elbow,
he's got You mentioned that last nightslike he's he's battling. But there comes
a point and to what you're saying, it comes a point where you say
you're so hurt, are you abit of a liability? And I hesitate

(05:16):
to say that because I don't thinkthat they're so deep, especially at point
guard, where you could just say, you know what, Jamal, we
don't need you for game seven. No, you need Jamal Murray for Game
seven. Now. If you wantto make a decision early on in the
Western Conference Finals, if he isnot ready to go, and you want
to give him a couple of days, maybe you give him a whole week.
That's a conversation to have. Yougotta have him for game seven.
Liability aside, Did you agree withthat? Yes? Absolutely, It doesn't

(05:40):
matter how hurt you are. Youhave to play in game seven to being
one of the best players on theteam. Have to. Now, if
you're injured, that's a different story. It'll be hurt and playing hurt.
Everybody does it. But if youreally have an injury, maybe you shouldn't
be out there. And I couldargue maybe they should have said him last
night if he's really that banged up, because last night he did hurt the

(06:03):
team. And I don't know ifthere's anybody that could step up and even
produce at half the level that JamalMurray could on that bench, but last
night he hurt the team and tome, that was a very poor effort
by him, the body language, everything, He wasn't playing defense. He
couldn't hit a basket, but nobodyon the Nuggets could hit a basket last

(06:23):
night. What a frustrating game towatch and really shocked to see the rainy
champs show up like that. Ipredict Game seven Nuggets turned this whole thing
around again. But the t Wolveshave all the momentum. Now I think
it's going to be a great Gameseven, but they had all the momentum
coming out of the second game, right they were. I mean, he
dominated the Nuggets here in Denver. They had all the momentum, and guess

(06:46):
what, the Nuggets won by twentyseven on their court, and then they
won in Game four, and thenthey won in Game five. So that
was so weird about the series,Rick, I mean, it's really tough
to follow and really have a hottake on any of it. And that's
why maybe I'm not freaking out becausewe've been here before. We came out
of Game two saying, boy, this looks like it's it, and I

(07:06):
was not talking about sweet, butI was certainly not talking about the Nuggets
even winning this series. It's remarkablebecause there were a lot of people and
I was kind of in this theboat, I said, six or seven
games. There was a lot ofpeople that said, I see this game,
this series going seven, right, well, and I was listening to
Tim leger Legler about it this morningand he said, I thought it was

(07:27):
gonna go seven. I didn't thinkthis is how we were gonna get there.
But you know what that that's sometimeshow it is, right, I
mean, And that's what's why sportsare so awesome, because when none of
us predicted this is how it's gonnago, you had the way teams winning
the first four games. Both teamsnow just won their first home games of
the series, and now we'll seewhat happens in game seven. So a
lot a lot of this is alot of this is not by expectation,

(07:49):
but yet the result is I thinkmore or less what a lot of people
thought was gonna happen. Yeah.Right, I think this has been a
great series, tremendous and we've seenboth teams look great and both teams look
horrible, which is really unusual. You know, when you get to this
point, you're in the second roundnow of the NBA Finals, where both
teams can look that bad and thatthe next game looked that good. I

(08:11):
don't remember seeing a series like thisbefore, so it's been very, very
entertaining. I think the Nuggets, with the heart of the champion, will
show up Sunday and put their bestfoot forward, play their best game.
But I tell you what if ifJamal can't hit any shots on Sunday,
it's gonna make it very tough forJoker to carry that team to that point.

(08:33):
This stat I saw earlier today,Jamal Murray so far in this series
has has been sort of Jacqueline Hyde, Right, We've seen the best of
and the worst of. He's averagednineteen seven points on fifty percent shooting in
the wins, which again, youknow that Jamal is capable of more,
but he's really banged up. Butyou know, hey, if I have

(08:54):
told you eight Jamal is going toaverage twenty points for the series and shoot
fifty percent of the floor, you'dbe like, oh, yeah, I
probably take that. In the losses, though, eleven point seven points per
game on twenty six percent shooting abysmaland again, he goes four of eighteen
Sunday night, they're gonna lose thisgame. I mean, it's as simple

(09:16):
as that. He doesn't have tobe the second best player on the team,
but he's got to be a factor, and he's got to be a
factor in a multitude of ways. But the biggest thing they need from him
is scoring, right. I mean, if he's going to struggle on the
defensive side, which he did lastnight, you're talking about the standing around,
just guys, the effort, allof that, and maybe that's injury
whatever. If he's not gonna bea big factor on defense, at least
be great offensively. At least bea guy that when when the ball gets

(09:39):
in your hands, you're doing something. With a lot of his runners that
were used to seeing him just makeflawlessly, they weren't even They were like
off to the side and hit inthe back of the rim, and it
just his release point was off towhat It was so confusing watching this team
that for three straight games look likethey had everything figured out. There are

(10:03):
people out there saying, I don'teven worry about what's going to happen in
the Western Conference Finals, and thenyou see one game and all of a
sudden, it shakes everybody's view ofyou, you know, right to your
point. If you can't be greaton offense, be great on defense something,
you know, because if you can'thit your shot, your shots aren't
dropping, okay, but defense, that's all effort. You know, you

(10:24):
have to play defense, especially ifyour shots aren't dropping. He didn't do
either last night, and that's abad look. And maybe you could blame
it on injuries. And as wesaid a couple of minutes ago, if
you're that hurt, you might haveto sit down. And we saw Himpga
do that in the finals last year. Remember his shot was not falling,
but he he made up in hustlepoints, right, So he made up
with defense, with rebounds, withsteals like he was incredible because he couldn't

(10:50):
he couldn't make anything. His shotwas was not there, but he showed
up in so many other statistical categories. And they don't win the finals without
him. And this is the bestdefensive team in the league. We're talking
about the team well, right, and they're dogging, yes, Jamal,
they are playing him hard and they'rejust dogging them all over the court.
And it's really had an effect onhim. The Koe Comma Spirit Health text

(11:11):
line five six six nights zero,Ryan, did you check your testosterone?
You know, I didn't feel likehe needed to. But now that you've
you've brought it up. It's asimple test. You'll get your results in
thirty minutes. You know what. The owner of Rocky Mott Men's clinic called
me last night, He really hedid, and he said to send you
in so I can hook you up. I fail to see, and there

(11:31):
were so many people that agreed withmy take yesterday. I failed to see
how me being a little averse towatching my team get embarrassed in prime time
suddenly makes me less of a man. But that being said, I do
encourage people if they are feeling alittle less to get your office show.
I wouldn't say less of a man, but it kind of work. You

(11:56):
and Dave, we're both kind thesame, right. You know. There's
a certain thing and the reason thatthe stostero came up. When your testosterol
numbers are high, and I'm nodoctor, it tends to make you a
little more aggressive, and which alittle more aggressive equals a little more competitive.
You're I'm saying, gotcha when yournumbers are low, you're like,
yeah, you know, yeah,I'm okay with that. I'm okay.

(12:16):
They're not going to be on nationalTV because I don't want to be embarrassed.
I don't want them to be embarrassed. So that's why it came up
yesterday. Nothing against you, no, no what I'd say, and I
brought this up to you guys. Those losses, the Colt's loss was one
that sort of broke me. AsScott Wiland famously said, I became half
the man I used to be afterwatching the Broncos loose to the Colts,

(12:39):
and then the Christmas Day game sortof compounded. I'm with my dad,
who is diehard Broncos through and through. I grew up a Broncos fan because
he was a Denver kid, andwe were watching in New Mexico watching the
Broncos on Christmas Day, both justgoing what is going on with our beloved
team? And so you know, again that changes a person. And then

(13:03):
you fast forward to hey, theythey won eight games last year, and
they won some primetime games that theBuffalo Bills game is a prime time the
Cleveland Browns is the prime time games. Playoff teams last year. They also
got pummelled against George Detroit Lyons lastyear. Yeah, and that kind of
turned the whole thing. That's whenSean Payton turned on Russ and they lost
to the Patriots in the prime timewatching that with you know, again,

(13:24):
I was back here to the studio, but like I was texting with my
dad and we're just like, whatis going How did that third quarter?
Just the third quarter by itself wasone of the hardest things I've had to
watch. And again, you're astandalone game, so that that's all right,
That's that's really where I'm coming downon this. You know, for
me calling the games, I likethe primetime because, as I said yesterday,
they have juice, you know, and Dave Logan's always telling me,

(13:48):
man Rick, it's too bad manthat you know, they can't make a
playoff run, you know, whileyou're doing this, while you're calling these
games, because he said, there'snothing like it, nothing like it.
So and I've experienced the use uhon some of these some of these primetime
games, just the excitement of itMonday and night football, everybody's watching,
so I felt it. You know, I'm in the stadium, whether it's

(14:09):
here or on the road, andyou can feel it and it's exciting,
and I would just rather roll thedice and take my chances that maybe your
team can not only be competitive, but win one of these games. They
won five in a row last yearand beat several playoff teams. Yes,
man, that was fun. Ican only imagine what it would be like
going to a playoff game, whichDave Logan has called a lot so many.

(14:31):
They won super Bowls the first twoyears he was calling games. I
just think about that, I know, and that's it's just remarkable. I
mean, his careers, it justblows me away all the time. But
I liked where they were at,even though it was at the tail end
of Peyton Manny's career. They werea bit of an underdog. Remember that
that playoff run and that was againright before you came on broadcast. Nobody

(14:54):
believed in them. I mean thatCam Newton led Caroline Panthers. It was
the MVP. They were underdogs inthe Super Bowl, they were underdogs the
Patriots. They are underdogs. Ithink maybe to the Steelers they might have
been a favorite, a slight favorite, but you know, nobody believed in
the offense they had this really gooddefense, but people like, ah,
you know it's not gonna be enough. It's got all these really good teams,

(15:16):
and they just kept winning. AndI miss that. I miss the
we have another punch in us,We have a surprise that you're just you
don't believe, and you know what, it's just gonna take a little bit
of time to get there. Butif you hit on the quarterback, then
then that that changes things. Imean, you know, you don't get
in a lot of teams that yousneak up on very much anymore, right,

(15:37):
But but I just want to knowthat they have a puncher's chance.
There's there's been so many games nowwhere they're going into this thing and you
just you feel a little hopeless attimes, and or it's the other way
around, where you think you're gonnawin, like against Baker Mayfield led La
Rams on Christmas Day and you're like, oh, you gotta win this game,
and then and then it's just justan abject disaster. And and kind

(15:58):
of back to the Nuggs for asecond. If it's not your day,
it's not your day. Alpha saysit all the time. Hey man,
once team's got you on that nightor that game. There's nothing you can
do. This is professional sports.Once team knows you, they got you.
Yeah, and that's that's what happened. Yeah, you of course you're
a part of the pregame postgame broadcaston the Broncos Radio network. Have you

(16:19):
ever called any sports, any gamesor high school? Okay, so you
know what it's like, and there'sa real excitement about that. It's incredible.
You know. I've called the wholebunch of high school games as well
in college games, and I don'tcare if the game is close or not.
There's still a lot of excitement becauseyou're in it. You are right

(16:40):
in it. And that's maybe whyI tend to take it a little personally,
because I feel like I'm vested inthis. You put so much prep
into calling that game, which you'dknow because you've done it, and so
there's a lot of excitement. There'sa lot of juice. And then if
you can win on a primetime gameand it's there's it's there's nothing like it.
Playoffs I can't even imagine. Yeah, but hopefully someday I'll be able

(17:03):
to experience that. I would say, again, it's a little bit hinges
on what Bonix becomes. But youand I are both pretty high on that
pick. Now you were high onit right away. It took me a
minute. I'm honest, it tookme a minute. But if he hits
the next couple of years, Ithink we're having those conversations. People underrate

(17:25):
this roster, but oftentimes that's thecase when you don't have the quarterback right,
everything looks bad, right it Wethought the Broncos were a quarterback away
when they acquired Russell Wilson. Theyacquired Russell Wilson and it was a bad
fits. That's how I sit heretoday thinking about Russell Wilson with the roster,

(17:47):
with the coach, with Nathaniel Hackettin his first year. It was
just a bad fit alt all around. But this feels like the right fit.
So I'm not got hearts on thepast. I'm just gonna say right
now, this feels like a greatfeel. Sean Payton and bow Nix and
I do think the roster is setup to be competitive enough that, hey,

(18:07):
Marvin is going in the second year, I think he could be really
really good, right, And thenthey got Troy Franklin, they got Josh
Reynolds, they still have Courtland Suttonif he's gonna show up at some point.
The offensive line was actually a reallygood it was a really well graded
offensive line last year. But theyhad a quarterback that had held it the
third longest amount of time in theNFL. And so you're gonna take a
lot of sacks doing things like that. So anyways, I actually am pretty

(18:32):
optimistic. But I do want totalk about the schedule with you because I
know, Okay, we yesterday wehad a lot of fun. We had
a lot of fun. We reallydidn't talk about the schedule. We did
a lot of a lot of lowte talk. I don't know why.
I don't know why that conversation cameout. I can't imagine that. I
can't imagine the text line. Ryan, when you get your test results,
make sure they let you know whatthe estrogen level is too. Thank you,

(18:52):
Native Gred Great. I appreciate that. Very true that you know.
I imagine. I imagine it's partof the deal has to be balanced,
right, I mean I wouldn't know, but yes, sure, yeah,
okay, I'm not an expert.Ye, not something I'm worried about.
Yeah, but you know I've beentold by a few Broncos fans or listeners
of ours that I should be worriedabout it. I did have a poll

(19:15):
question that I'm going to ask youcoming up throughout the course of the show.
I want the Broncos fans to answeras well. Outside of O Nicks,
which Broncos draft pick are you mostexcited to see this upcoming season?
Good one? I think that's aninteresting question because you got a nice little
balance. You got Jonan Alis, you got Troy Franklin, got Chris Abrams
Strain, you got undred estimate. You can talk about the seventh rounders if

(19:36):
you want, but I just keptit to those four. So we come
back, I'm go and ask youwhich one you think is winning the poll
and which one is your favorite.Oh, we'll get to that coming up.
Get that coming up. We havea really big show for you guys
today here on Fry Kyle Frederickson fromthe Colorado Gazette, it's going to talk
as with us. After four o'clock, Rick Kamla from a serious XM NBA
is going to talk to us aboutthe Nuggets. After five, we will

(19:57):
get to the Scottie Scheffler Non saysfrom this morning the Avs are going at
it tonight. Can't wait to talkabout all that, plus the Rockies and
more right here on KO Sports Afifty AM ninety four one FM. And
I was Michael Malone last night andhe doesn't seem shaken. Heis Nicole Yokic.
We'll get to that conversation coming uphere in just a little bit again.

(20:18):
Top of the hour, we're gonnatalk about the Avs and their opportunity
in Game six tonight at ball Arena. But as I mentioned earlier, Rick
Lewis and studio with me. Iasked a pole question earlier, and I
wanted to get people's thoughts on it. You guys can text us five six
six nine zero on the Kai CommonSpirit Health text line. Outside of bo
Nicks, which Broncos draft pick areyou most excited to see this upcoming season?

(20:40):
Between Jonah Ellis, Troy Franklin,Chris Abrams, train or Audrick Estimate.
That's a good question. There's there'sabout three of them that I'm excited
to see, I know, andif I had to narrow it down Ryan,
I would say the running back outof Notre Dame Estimate. That guy

(21:00):
is a freaking rock it's wait,he's winning the poll right now, is
he? Okay? Yeah? Youlook at his body, you look at
his running style, you look athis attitude that he has. He wants
to punish you. He I think, has a very good chance to be
RB one on this team. UnlessJavonte Williams comes back to form like he

(21:22):
was his rookie year, I feellike es to May is going to be
the guy and I'm real excited aboutthat. Jer see the movie that The
Professional with Natalie Portman, and itis about a hitman. I can't remember
his name. He's French, buthe was in some of the Mission Impossible
movie. He was in the firstMission Impossible movie. Anyways, Gary Oldman
is in it, and he isthe villain, and there's this very f

(21:45):
It's a brilliant, beautiful, incrediblemovie. Absolutely recommend it anytime. It
is like one of those like justso cool. There's so much like the
camera action and the acting. It'sjust tremendous. But there's this moment in
the movie when Gary Oldman, whois just kills it as the villain is
is is asking one of his likesidekicks or whatever to or one of the

(22:08):
people he works for to find allthe people that are trying to round up
and basically care whatever. And he'slike, you want everyone, and he
like turns around and screams like everyone. So my response to the poll is
I want to see them all.Yeah, but to your point, and
you guestimate makes so much sense becauseyou know he's gonna have a role year

(22:30):
one, He's gonna have a role. I went with Jonah Ellis. If
I was gonna vote on this,I would have voted Jonah Ellis. And
that's because in part and I knowAlfred is gonna completely disagree with me on
this because he loves the outside rushersthat we have. The Broncos were just
not good enough at pressures and sackslast year. They were one of the
bottom tier teams in the NFL.At that and this guy, man,

(22:52):
I guess you just to watch.I watched him a lot this week because
I was preparing for an interview thatwe're gonna hopefully be able to get with
the Utah head coach h Kyle Whittinghamcoming up here soon. But I watched
a lot of them. He's socool because you just can't get your hands
on him. He's got these greatmoves with us with his hands, and
he makes it impossible for these offensivetackles to really grab a hold of him.

(23:15):
He's so slippery and he's real.He has a style and a motor
that is unlike the guys we currentlyhave, Like he doesn't do things the
same way, you know what,Baron Browning style. He's got a nice
mix of speed, but he reallygets there with power, a lot of
power, right, Nick Benito alittle bit more of a technician, right,
He's bolt up a little bit. He's been better against the run.

(23:36):
I think he's an all around talenteded rusher now. And then Jonathan Cooper's
just solid, right, He's justa solid guy. But this guy,
this guy's gonna get a hurry. He gets up field in a hurry,
little undersized, but you can't getyour hands on him. So for me,
I want to upgrade the pressure you'regonna put on opposing quarterbacks. And
I think Jonah would be really fun. Yeah. I like him as well.
I think he's a great addition tothat room. And he's gone.

(23:59):
He's got what I call the NFLgene. He's got NFL genetics, and
so it's built into him, youknow, pretty much. Not just a
dad, but there's several people inhis family that have that gene and have
used it successfully. When I seethat, it makes me feel like that's
you know, to me, ifI was drafting and I saw a guy

(24:22):
that maybe I was on the fencewith between him and this guy, I
would go for the NFL genetics.I mean, you can't beat genetics.
And so, yeah, I'm excitedabout him. The thing about estimate,
and I'm not surprised he's winning thepoll. On draft day, that picture
that he posted, you tweeted out, oh my god, look like the
rock in this picture? Right.I tweeted that out Ryan. It got

(24:45):
sixty thousand views from my Twitter. He got sixty thousand views. Man,
So need more followers apparently, Imean, unless you don't want more followers,
but you should that. I'm notall that active on twitter x as
they call it now, but forme, that was like a home run
tweet. And so I'm not surprisedthere. Obviously a lot of people have

(25:07):
eyes on this guy and he mightbe the future of the room. He's
gonna be fun to watch. Hemight be the future of the group,
right, I mean, because thisis the final year of Javonte's rookie deal.
Samajay, I'm not even sure hemakes this roster, but we'll see.
I'm not trying to push him outthe door and just saying get a
lot of talent in the running backroom. The future of it could look
like Audrick Estimate and Blake Watson, and honestly, I'm pretty amped about that

(25:30):
idea. Somebody asked us about BlakeWatson. I asked about draft picks in
this conversation. Those are undrafted players. Somebody asked about Crumb as well.
I'm excited to see what Crumb cando out Wyoming. But but again,
I don't think he's gonna have arole this year so much unless there's a
major injury. Right, But theBroncos really like him. They put him
a lot of money as an undraftedfree agent. I think he's on this

(25:51):
roster as a developmental offensive tackle.Same thing with Blake Watson. He's gonna
have a role probably special teams earlyon. He'd be interesting as a returner,
especially because of the new rule.Man that was and I talked about
it with with David al That wasone of the coolest things to see at
it rookie camp is because because weit's so weird. It's so different.

(26:14):
It's just different. Play. Thekickoff is different than anything I've ever seen
in NFL football. Yeah, it'sgonna be really Rick, it's weird.
Like, do you saw kickers? So they had they had, you know,
tryout kickers there and they're intentionally notkicking it out of the back of
the end zone. You're like, what are they doing? Like this is

(26:34):
bile high, come on, getit. Oh, they're doing that on
purpose. Oh right. And thenwhen they actually line up to do special
teams and they have two guys backthere returning, so you know, no,
no one, you got to havetwo back there, right, and
they both have their heels at thegoal line, and you think about the
strategy in this thing. It's it'sjust so different. And then one of

(26:57):
them becomes a lead blocker, sowhoever catches it, the other guy goes
in front, and then everybody's socondensed. Rick, it's amazing. It's
going to be fun to watch. And I like our chances with these special
teams coaches we have and Sean Bayden, Oh yeah, you know, they're
coming up with some creative things whenit comes to kickoffs now kickoff returns as

(27:18):
well, and with guys like MarvinMemes, I think he could be a
real weapon return he kicks like that. Maybe even Julia McLoughlin. Maybe you
put him back there and we didn'teven mention him in the running back room.
You know, I love that kid. I mean, that's your speed
guy. You've got a couple ofhammers back there, so some I J
p Royd there's another one. Yougot these big hammers back there, and

(27:41):
then you got the speed guy McLoughlin, who showed a lot last year,
especially for an undrafted rookie. Ithink they improved this this roster in the
off season. The big question markis going to be the quarterback position bo
Nicks and so we don't know.We don't know if he is going to
start Week one, We don't knowif you know what kind of impact he

(28:03):
will have. But I feel likeif Sean Payton loves him, I love
him, and that's why I liketo pick. I did do a deep
dive on him looking at film, and I'm no quarterback evaluator, but the
more I watched, the more Iwas impressed with that kid. Then they
ended up drafting him. So Iwas excited going in and then when we
found out how much Peyton loved him. Now now you got my attention.

(28:26):
You know, I'm real excited aboutthe possibilities with him. And when you
look at the schedule, it's kindof hard to evaluate how many wins are
you going to get because who areyou going to have a quarterback? Very
good point, Zach Wilson here atStidham. Will it be Bonix? We
know it'll be Bonix at some point, but as we talked yesterday, I'm
not so sure he'll be week onestarter. So that's a good good point.

(28:49):
Maybe we can dive a little bitdeeper onto that. On the other
side, so how much like plusor minus wins or losses does it change
for you if it's Bonick or notbon Nicks. Well, when I looked
at it, honestly, I factoredin Sean Payton being the quarterback guru that
he is. This is his guy, He's got everything invested in this kid.

(29:11):
Now I factored in that bow Knickswill be the starting quarterback week one,
and that bon Knicks will pick itup very quickly and will be comfortable
in the offense. After you know, two three weeks and when I looked
at the schedule, I could seethem winning seven or eight games with bo
Nicks. And I also flipped itand this maybe maybe I shouldn't have done

(29:33):
this, but I looked at theschedule, like, all right, say,
Russell Wilson was the quarterback this year, Rick with this roster. Oh
no, I know, I alreadyknow what you're saying. I already know
what you're saying. I looked atit with Russ coming back with this roster,
the guys they drafted, the additions, I had him win in ten.
Oh no, what's oh no aboutI. We're trying to move on,

(30:00):
trying, I mean just for thepage. I did it just for
fun. Why don't you give ita try. I don't think my heart
could take it. What I well, man, I have a lot of
hate in my heart right now forRussell Wilson. I don't think I can
welcome him back in right now.I mean, just for fun. Obviously,
Russell Wilson is not the future, and that's why they got rid of

(30:22):
him. Bo Nix is the future. But last year there was a lot
of talk like, you know, maybe you bring Russ back for the year,
you pay them the thirty nine million, wish they're paying them anyway,
and then draft a quarterback high Whatwould that have looked like? Croccles Fans
are like, oh, we're goingto think about this. What a thousand

(30:42):
dollars coming up for the next fiveminutes From the KWA traffic Center. Here's
Darren Copeland. It was Scotti Scheffler. Interesting, So stretching in a jail
sale that's kind of like high kneeson an airplane. I mean, you're
trying to stay ready, right, guess there's a little bit of a cop
You're you're sort of trapped. Youcan't really go anywhere as see as you

(31:03):
did there. Yeah, it's tome it seems pretty I mean, one's
incarcerated by choice, one's incarcerated notby choice. But yeah, I see
what she did. There's small space. Small space. Yes, Scotty Chefferer,
if you woke comes morning, we'llget back to the Broncos stuff.
Boyd, everybody's just railing on youabout the Russell Wilson thing here. We're
gonna have to come back to thatin a second. But the Scottish Jeffers

(31:25):
was so weird. I don't know, did you guys cover that at all
on the Fox this morning? Thismorning? It was a yeah, the
story was breaking just as I gotinto the studio this morning, so we
followed it all morning long, andman, it was really interesting and I
couldn't believe, uh, the wayit ended up with him going to jail.
They took a mug shot of himin an orange jumpsuit. What was

(31:48):
that? Amazing? Wild? That'scrazy. Then he gets out, he
goes right to the practice teas tea'soff and he shoots five unders. Unbelievable,
second best round of the day.Unbelievable. Man, that's that's a
gangster move right there. He's gotstreet cred now, the weirdest thing.

(32:08):
And tell me how you feel aboutthis. So in the police report that
we found out, there's a there'sa mention that he dragged a police officer
who grabbed the hold of the carand the police officer ended up having to
go to the hospital with abrasians andsome it sounds like relatively minor injuries.

(32:29):
Ruined his pants eighty dollar pants. They made sure to bring that up is
eight dollars pants are completely ruined. What I don't get and it's just it's
it's all around a weird situation. In the end, it is probably just
gonna go away. I think Scottywants it to go away. Everybody wants
it to go away. Maybe thecity of Louisville apologize. Who knows.
Who knows they didn't know he wasthe best golfer in the world, A
little golfer. How is this dudeallowed to go play golf if he sent

(32:53):
a police officer to the hospital. That's the part that's so weird to me
about the storyline. I'm not sayinganybody's lying. I'm just wondering if where
the truth of this lies, becauseit feels like if you send a police
officer to the hospital, you don'tget to go about your day like everything's
fine. Yeah. I was shockedthat he went back and played today,

(33:14):
and then even more shocked that heplayed so well, which says a lot
about him. This dude is moneyand the greatest golfer in the world.
But you know, there's some storiesout there that don't add up. Well.
Jeff Darlington, the reporter, wasright there, saw the whole fall,
he killed it, and he saidthat because of the traffic tie up

(33:36):
in the accident, that they wereletting golfers go around all of that to
go into the club for the tournament. And he was in a car that
was Mart's right, p Yes,so guys were all these other golfers were
doing it. So I think ScottieScheffler, I'm just reading into this.
He thought, Okay, well that'swhat I'm going to do. And then
when he saw the guy and theywere wearing a yellow like a raid slicker,

(33:57):
which looked like to me it couldhave been one of the golf tournament
officials, right right, And soI don't think Scottie Scheffler even had any
idea what was going on, andthat this guy was trying to say,
hey, no, no, no, you can't go. I'm sure he
didn't know he was a cop.I would bet a lot of money he
didn't know that was a cop becausebecause it wouldn't make a lot of sense
for him. This isn't the headlinehe wants either, No, right,

(34:21):
you know you don't want to dothat, So that that would kind of
makes sense because that from the video. And again, you and I are
just people. Right. If ifsomebody's saying, hey, stock your car
or whatever, you're Okay, well, yes, you're fine, just whatever.
But in this case, he's likethinking, hey, I'm I'm with
the PGA. I'm trying to getaround this, and they told me I
can do this, and it's ina marked car. You're right, Maybe

(34:42):
he just didn't he didn't really readthe situation correctly. It's like, I'm
with these guys. See those carsgoing in, that's those are my guys.
I'm going on with them and themarked car thing. And some people
may not know exactly what you meanby that. At these golf tournaments,
they have like tournament cars and theyput the they mark them with the logo
of the tournament or whatever, soeverybody knows this person in this car is

(35:06):
either an official or a player andpart of this tournament. And so all
these guys have those cars going inand so I am shocked that it ended
up this way. And I don'tknow where this goes. You got a
felony second degree assault, yes,on a police officer. I wonder if
they end up dropping it or theygo, hey, you know, sorry,

(35:28):
it was a misunderstanding. We getit. Although the guy got hurt,
one of the cops got hurt. You don't minor injury. Maybe Scotty
Scheffler writes him a little check andthe whole thing goes away. It feels
like for Scotty Scheffler, who wejust heard the sound there, even the
statement you put up on Instagram,it was, you know, he's had
a lot of contrition, seriously soundedlike he wants this thing. He's the

(35:51):
middle of a PGA championship right now, he's i think third right now on
the board of Yeah, he's thirdright now in the tournament. Shaefully's still
crushing it. But again you said, what a gangster move to be stretching
out in a jail cell in themorning and go out and shoot the second
best round of the day, hada championship event. Did you see some

(36:14):
of the memes of him in theorange jumption the greatest in his mugshot with
a tear tattoo, tear drop tattooon his face. Today was a Hall
of Fame day to be Odds Twitterbecause of the memes. All right,
when we come back, we aregoing to switch gears a little bit.
We're going to the ABS Big Gamesix tonight. We're gonna check in with
