“Mellow Bellows” features Porée’s in-depth interview with Michael Bolger, a multi-instrumentalist and composer known for his stylistically-diverse music. He performs on accordion, trumpet, trombone and even jazz organ with a variety of Los Angeles ensembles. Bolger has played and recorded with such noted artists as Jewel, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Ry Cooder and Jimmy Cliff. He has also composed music for the popular television cartoon “Spongebob Squarepants,” for which he received a 2013 BMI Cable TV Music award.
This episode of “Sonic Tonic” features Bolger’s recordings of his compositions “No Sho” and “Marielle.”
