בשנת 1930 יצא לאור As i lay dying ספרו של ויליאם פוקנר, מי שנחשב בעיניי רבים לסופר האמריקאי החשוב והמשפיע ביותר של המאה העשרים. בשנת 1980 תורגם הספר לשפה העברית בשמו ׳בשוכבי גוועת׳. ב-2018 תורגם הספר מחדש ויצא בהוצאת פן, בשם - ׳בבוא מותי׳.
