On this week in 1969 Led Zeppelin II was at number one on the US album charts. It was the band’s first album to reach number one in both the US and UK.

While Led Zeppelin’s 1969 debut album showed the world the band had arrived….Led Zeppelin II was proof that they were no fluke, they were here to stay. In fact, with the top ten single Whole Lotta Love, Zeppelin 2 was an even BIGGER success than the last. Robert Plant later said, quote, Our whole lives changed. It was such a sudden change we weren’t sure how to handle it. End quote.

We’ll get into the stories behind the nine classic tracks from the album, plus hear early rough mixes of songs that made the album along with one track that didn’t. Well also get to the story behind the album cover art and how the album went from being critically panned to becoming considered one of the most important albums in rock history.
