We all have the choice to practice gratitude and mindset which impacts the outcome of every day of our lives. Doug believes if entrepreneurs can successfully control their mindset (through daily, intentional practice) they can access the opportunity within. He even shares a new phrase with Mo called “boomerang positive energy”. Doug is all about sharing best practices to help everyone develop strategies around themselves for power, magic and enlightenment. Oh, did you know competition and collaboration have the same number of syllables? Neither did we! Doug drops kinds of wisdom on this week’s episode!

Doug’s Bio

Doug Hunt currently serves as Director of Entrepreneurship with the Joplin Area Chamber of Commerce in Joplin, MO. Since serving in this position Doug has executed a plan that’s advanced the mission of two business incubators with more than 60,000 sq. ft. of space. He has taken the centers to 100% occupancy for the first time in their history while working closely with new startup businesses coaching them through early growth, becoming stabilized and eventually graduating from the business incubators.

Doug owned his own consulting firm, Doug Hunt Consulting launching it in 2013. In this capacity Doug consulted with small business owners providing coaching and proven guidance on marketing, public relations, successful internal and team communications.

Doug served as Vice President of Business Development for Employers Health & Safety, LLC until 4 months into the 2020 Covid Pandemic. For 8 years he served as Vice President of Business Development for Farrell Construction, Inc./True Style Homes, LLC. He founded and was owner of Sunrise Media Group, Inc., a leading marketing, and public relations firm employing a staff of 10 for more than 15 years. In 2013, following the economic impact of the EF-5 Joplin Tornado, Doug closed the company and launched his new consulting venture along with his inspirational speaking tour.

At the beginning of his career, he spent 11 years in broadcast television working for both the NBC and ABC TV stations in Joplin, Missouri as a Creative Services Director, Promotions Manager, Commercial Producer/Director, Videographer, Newscast Technical Director, and Operations Manager.

In 1995, the Missouri Jaycees named Doug Hunt as one of the “Ten Most Outstanding Young Missourians”. In 2003 his company, Sunrise Media Group, Inc. was awarded the “Missouri Governor’s Cup Award” for tourism marketing. In 2004, he was honored with the “Silver Medal Lifetime Achievement Award” from the American Advertising Federation. Also, that same year the Joplin Area Chamber of Commerce named Doug’s company, Sunrise Media Group, Inc., “Small Business of the Year”.
