We are introduced to a group of misfits and criminals from the city of Ketterdam. Led by the enigmatic Kaz Brekker, the group is hired to carry out an impossible heist: breaking into the impenetrable Ice Court and retrieving a dangerous drug that could change the fate of nations. As the group begins to assemble, tensions simmer between the members, each with their own secrets and motivations. Along the way, they encounter danger, betrayal, and unexpected allies as they prepare for the treacherous journey ahead. The stakes are high, and the risks even higher, but they must succeed if they hope to collect their reward and escape with their lives.
