EP108: 2021 Year End Review: 5 Steps to Help You Reflect on The Past Year...PLUS How to Slay 2022

Hello Chit Chatters!

Welcome to this very special episode of Coaching For Millennials. Today I have a special little human who joined me on the show to share their personal reflection of 2021 and what they want most in 2022.

Throughout this episode we are going to cover 5 steps to review your year and how to take action to win in 2022!

Be sure to bring your journal for this one, because if you want to make 2022 your year, this journey today is important!!

Step 1: What Are You Most Proud Of?

List all of the things you’re most proud of:

  • Obstacles
  • Successes
  • Overcame: physical/mental/habits/space; look through your photos in the last year to help trigger your memory.
  • Major changes:
  • Finance
  • Career
  • Life

Call to Action:

What experience was most important to you and why?

What steps did you take to help you move the needle

Be sure to circle that really resonated with you. You’ll use it later to make a fresh list for 2022.

Step 2: What Have You Learned?

Ask Yourself & Write it Down:

  • What went well in 2021?
  • What were the most game changing things? What did you learn from it?
  • What were some mistakes that you made? What did you learn from it?

Call to Action:

Write what were the most important lessons and why? These are crucial and often overlooked.

Step 3: What are you willing to let go of?

  • Old projects and goals you set out to do
  • This is all about revisiting old projects, ideas, tasks that you haven’t really had an opportunity to wrap your head around.
  • Resentment, anger, and upsets
  • Letting go of emotional baggage
  • Anger
  • Forgiving yourself or someone
  • Limiting Beliefs or a story you’ve been telling yourself
  • Too old or too young to do this or that
  • You can’t do it because it’s already been done
  • Never having enough time or the know how
  • You’re not good enough or capable

Not telling yourself that you’re so much more powerful than you give yourself credit for

Call to Action: Things to write down and do

  • What’s most important to let go of and why?
  • What has this thing cost you?
  • What has it prevented you from doing?
  • What do you want to let go of and move on from?

Remember: Reasons come before results | Purpose fuels Persistence

Step 4: Mapping What’s Next in Your Future

Just like step one you took a lot at the things you’re most proud of. In this step, you’re going to revisit some of those ideas and identify how they fit into your future. Remember to write down why they are important and why!!

Examples to think of:

  • Health/Well-being
  • Finance
  • Future
  • Relationships
  • Giving- what you have to offer
  • How do you want to feel about the future:
    • What’s motivating you
    • What do you seek freedom from?
    • Are you willing to be flexible?

Be consistent and specific as possible. Let yourself dream and don’t underestimate what you can dream.

Call to Action:

  • Make a list
  • Write down your top 3 goals for the next year
  • Who do you need to become to accomplish these goals?
  • Who character do you need to change into or play to achieve these things? Is there an alter ego involved?

Step 4: What do you want your future self to know?

Write a letter to the version of you in 2022! Be imaginative and creative!

Some writing promotes are:

I would love you to know that….

I would love you to start….

I would love you to remember….

I would love you to focus on…
