Why does it seem like when one thing goes wrong in our life, it creates a domino effect? In seasons of chaos and heartache, we often feel uprooted and confused. Jennie Denney went through such a season of pain in her life where isolation fostered the lie that she was alone and not good enough. She asserts that it is vital to allow God to sit with us in our pain to keep the lies of the enemy at bay, as well as to find one person--a spouse, a counselor, a friend--who will come alongside us to help process tumultuous emotions.

Jennie asserts that often disappointment and discouragement go hand in hand in our lives. Psalm 121:1-2 was a source of encouragement for her as she leaned into the grief of derailed expectations, comforted that even if her circumstances were difficult, the God of the universe was with her.

See 1 Kings 19:4, where the prophet Elijah found himself in a season of depression. Alone in the desert, the Lord rejuvenated Elijah with rest, spoke life into him, and sent him a companion in Elisha so Elijah would no longer be alone.
