#137 Cravings of the Soul

Humans are not simply biological creatures. We are holistically robust, and just as we were created to need water and air, we also have spiritual needs.
Pastor Cory Rosenke has a book called "The Magnetic Heart of God: Understanding the 5 Cravings of the Soul". Cory's theory asserts that these 5 cravings have been placed in us purposefully by God to ultimately draw us back to Him. The 5 cravings are: security, identity, independence, significance, and innocence. These cravings have propelled all of humanity throughout time. These cravings are deeper than biology and psychology, they pertain to the needs of the soul!

It is important to recognize that these cravings transcend what we see in the natural world; more often, what we may perceive to be a biological issue is actually a spiritual one. Your soul is the core of who you are, the attribute that best defines you even more than your brain and your body. All throughout scripture, the saints of old supplicated God on behalf of their souls. How do we break the lie that life is about our biological inclinations, and begin to live with God's perspective?
We cannot live an extraordinary life when relying on anything outside of God to fulfill us. God is not merely the satisfier of our tangible needs and desires, He is the answer to all the existential questions our souls long to know.
