What happens typically when a couple separates and they have a matrimonial home? Do you sell and both move? Does one partner buy the other out?
Julie Gill experienced this a few years ago, and had small children that went to local schools, so her thought originally was to buy her husband out so that the kids could stay in their local schools with their friends. This was not going to happen, and the home was too large anyway.
They had a lot of difficulties coming to an agreement on simple things like which agent to use, the price, etc. Lawyers had to get involved and the process became incredibly complicated and personal. But there was a happy conclusion as everyone agreed to sell and move on.
