As a believer in Christ, there is probably a part of you that believes that if you follow the Lord, things will go well for you. There is no shame in that—it is undeniably, 100% true and scripture is very clear on that.
But what about when it becomes the reason we follow God? The reason we obey?
We obey BECAUSE God will bless us. This thinking is wrong.
God is not an ATM. We put obedience in and—KACHINNNGG—we get out what we want. God cannot be manipulated. Every good and perfect thing comes from Him alone. Not because we deserve it. Our very best is as filthy rags.
If we're not careful we can treat obedience and submission to our husbands as unto God, as a formula that will—KACHINNGG—give us the marriage and blessing that we want. News flash, and I couldn't be more forthright—THIS IS NOT A PROSPERITY MESSAGE!
