Richard Foss is the Executive Director of Collage, in the quaint Harbor port town of San Pedro, California. He is also a culinary historian and board member of the Culinary Historians of Southern California; and the author of both fiction and non-fiction works, including two books on food history: "Rum, A Global History" and "Food in the Air and Space: The Surprising History of Food and Drink in the Skies".

In this episode, we talk about the eclectic, inclusive and joyous atmosphere of Collage, the difficulties of bringing attention to San Pedro's thriving and vibrant arts community, and the lifesaving qualities of music. Richard also provides a bit of insight into his writing process, as well as some understanding of food culture and history.

Please consider donating your unused instruments to collage's Instrument Program which puts instruments into the hands of high schoolers who's music careers would otherwise, end without them; as well as those who have moved on from violence, abuse, and other challenges.
