Another Rad Revival House first!

We are proud to announce a brand new film review campaign: the Prestige Picture Presentations. Our host, Professor Cesare Augusto, reviews great classic films that, for some odd reason, were oddly neglected or left on the way side by mainstream film criticism circles. We as a forgotten cinema podcast intend to reintroduce these beautiful pieces of celluloid to unsuspecting audiences who will be left surprised and impacted by these great and criminally-obscured pictures!

Our first Prestige Picture Presentation belongs to the great 1947 character drama BLACK NARCISSUS. Professor Cesare ascends the mountains of madness with the cast of the picture, film legend Deborah Kerr as headstrong but conflicted nun Sister Clodaugh who must run a convent built on an old palace high on the Himalayas. Sister Clodaugh must maintain her vows and personal dignity while dealing with handsome but mischievous caretaker Mr. Dean (David Farrar) and unstable nun Sister Ruth (a creepy, scene-stealing Kathleen Byron).

Filmmaking students will be engrossed by the fabulous aesthetic of BLACK NARCISSUS, as directors Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger, and cinematographer Jack Cardiff present their visions in a true dazzling surrealistic form, while aspiring actors will be enchanted by the film's cast, in particular the haunting Kathleen Byron as she portrays the gradual insanity of Sister Ruth!
