February is Black History Month, and the Rad Revival House pays homage to cinema-dom's coolest, most criminally underrated African-American films, DETROIT 9000! A sterling example of the hip Blaxploitation subgenre, DETROIT 9000 focuses on two Detroit cops who are as different as night and day: young, black, and ambitious Sergeant Jesse Williams (the slick, unfairly-underappreciated Hari Rhodes), and white veteran Lieutenant Danny Bassett (Alex Rocco, Moe Green of THE GODFATHER). Both Williams and Bassett are on the case of a violent robbery during a high-profile political fundraiser campaign for a prominent black politician aiming to win the Michigan governor's race. Filled to the brim with gritty performances and breakneck action sequences, DETROIT 9000 will satisfy veteran Blaxploitation cinema, as well those curious to experience vintage black films. The film also stars classic African-American actress Vonetta McGee (THE GREAT SILENCE, THE EIGER SANCTION) and iconic character actor Scatman Crothers (ONE FLEW OVER THE CUCKOO'S NEST, THE SHINING)
