YEE-HAWWW!

The Rad Revival House enters the Wild West with a vengeance with director John Sturges' classic suspense Western LAST TRAIN FROM GUN HILL!

In what is arguably his toughest entry in the Western genre, megastar Kirk Douglas stars as Marshal Matt Morgan, a steadfast lawman who tows the thin line between justice and vengeance when his wife is brutally raped and murdered by a pair of unknown assailants. Morgan discovers to his shock that his wife's killer is Rick Belden (underrated character actor Earl Holliman), the son of Morgan's best friend Craig (the ever-great Anthony Quinn.) Craig Belden runs a nearby town with an iron fist, and will be damned if he would let his own son hang for the brutal killing, even if it means gunning down his old friend the Marshal.

Our host, the Professor Cesare Augusto, explores what makes LAST TRAIN FROM GUN HILL strikingly different from other, more famous Westerns of the 1950s. Unlike the sweeping epic dramas that graced the big screen of its era (i.e. HOW THE WEST WAS WON, STAGECOACH, CIMMARON), LAST TRAIN FROM GUN HILL is grittier with generous helpings of claustrophobic, nail-biting suspense set in a compact backdrop of a small frontier town (other similar pictures would include HIGH NOON and the original 3:10 TO YUMA).

LAST TRAIN FROM GUN HILL is a great, edge-of-your-seat addition to the Western genre, thanks majorly to the lead performances by Douglas, Quinn, Holliman, and even a pre-ADAMS FAMILY Carolyn Jones!
