We don’t normally think of a farmer as one who writes poetry, which is why it is so surprising to learn that Amos, the 8th century B.C. shepherd and farmer from Judah, the Southern Kingdom of Israel, presented his entire prophetic announcement to the Northern Kingdom of Israel in poetic form.
