This year marks the third federal observance of Juneteenth. While the day was only recently recognized as a federal holiday, its historical and cultural importance is much older. June 19th commemorates the day in 1865 when informed Union troops finally brought word to Texas that slavery had ended, more than two years after the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation. In this episode, guest host Brian Brown, MBA, Sr. Clinical Practice Manager, Post-Acute Care, speaks with Rex Everett, Vice President, Business Development, about Juneteenth, offering personal reflections and education on the long-standing celebration and observance of the holiday.
