In the final episode of Season 4, Dr Surya Bhatt is here to discuss the influence of continued smoking on COPD with Dr Richard Russell. They will discuss how smoking can impact treatment decisions, how we can get our patients to stop smoking and the effects smoking can have on COPD outcomes.1–3 Dr Russell will then dive into a new publication on the impact of air quality on exacerbations during the COVID-19 lockdown,4 before highlighting what’s hot on social media. This week, the focus is on singing for lung health and how to better engage our patients!

Bio:

Dr Surya Bhatt Dr Surya Bhatt is an Associate Professor of Medicine in the Division of Pulmonary, Allergy and Critical Care Medicine at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), and is the Director of the UAB Lung Imaging Lab. He also serves as the Medical Director of the UAB Pulmonary Function Testing and Exercise Physiology Lab, and as the Medical Director of the UAB Telehealth and Center-based Pulmonary Rehabilitation programmes. His research focus is on developing new imaging metrics for the early diagnosis, phenotyping and precision-based therapy of COPD.
