Ophthalmic artery occlusion in intra-arterial chemotherapy for retinoblastoma

Retinoblastoma is the most common primary intraocular malignancy in children. In this podcast, JNIS Editor-In-Chief Felipe C. Albuquerque and Pascal Jabbour discuss a study from July’s issue, concluding that local factors relating to the chemotherapy and selective microcatheterization of the ophthalmic artery are essential factors in the development of ophthalmic artery thrombosis, as seen by the association of ophthalmic artery thrombosis with the frequency of intra-arterial chemotherapy.
