The Good Oil Days Festival was created to celebrate Humble’s rich history in the oil industry, as well as to bring business into the ‘hub’ of the city. It’s one of the biggest events of the Northeast area of Houston where family and small businesses are joined together.

I can’t make this up… but as I Was walking by the pump-jack, Mr. Howard was preparing to start the engine and I spoke with him briefly on the podcast. Then I continued walking down Main Street in Humble and started talking to Mrs. Sharon. It wasn’t until a couple hours later that I realized they were actually husband and wife… and I had bet them back-to back at the crowded festival. Both are wonderful people and introduced me and Oilfield Talk to several people. Thank you!

In their first year competing at the regional level for UIL, the mariachi performers earned straight 1’s from every judge in attendance. Humble High students earned Superior Ratings at Feb-2024 Mariachi Coastal Bend Region UIL. They sounded fantastic and are rocking their brand-new uniforms at the 2024 Good Oil Days Festival!

“A lonely historical marker sits on the side of FM 1960 outside of Humble, Texas. You would probably drive right past it. But, if you’re curious and stop to read the sign, you might also meet one of the last residents of Moonshine Hill, whose house is just behind that marker. Billy Sheffield is 93 years old and his family has been in the area for over 100 years.”
