The Lord's Prayer is one of those special passages of Scripture. It's arguably the most memorized portion of the Bible, while also being one of the most scrutinized. The first line of the prayer has been a point of tension and a recitation of comfort. Often in the first century, disciples would ask a Rabbi how to pray. Not because they didn't know how to pray, but because how a Rabbi prayed spoke to their theology and understanding of God. Exploring the prayer of Jesus has much to teach us about how we know God and how we live out this faith.
