The Pillars Of Heracles:

- Southern Pillar: The identity of Abila Mons (the southern pillar) has been debated. The two likely candidates are Monte Hacho in Ceuta and Jebel Musa in Morocco.
- Mythology: According to Greek mythology, Hercules performed the tenth of his twelve labours by fetching the Cattle of Geryon from the far West and bringing them to Eurystheus. This marked the western extent of his travels.
