Nothing makes a teacher cringe more than the saying, “Must be nice to get your summers off.” After all, if we are truly being honest with ourselves, teachers do not get a true “summer vacation”. What teachers do get is a pile up of professional development obligations, making ends meet through working second jobs or side gigs, setting up classrooms, learning new state standards, and supporting their school through leadership opportunities.
