This is part 1 of 2 of a series called "On the Front Line". For this episode of Beyond Substance we are focusing our attention on those people who work on the frontline helping people with substance use disorder in the community. We will be featuring interviews with Shane Hardwick and Cynthia Schwomeyer. In this episode we will move even closer to the real action that is happening here in Marion County, Indiana.


GUESTS:
Shane Hardwick has over 25 years experience working as a community paramedic with Indianapolis Emergency Medical Service, and he has even worked on a SWAT Team as a medic. Shane currently is stationed in the Shalom Project at the Shepherd Community Center and works along-side as a partner with an IMPD Law Enforcement Officer.

Cynthia Schwomeyer has many years experience working in the mental health field. She currently works as a Crisis Specialist at The Sandra Eskenazi Mental Health Center in a project called MCAT, The Mobile Crisis Assistance Team out of, and in partnership with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department’s Southeast District. She is also a certified Mental Health First Aid Trainer and participates in the city’s Critical Incident Training Initiative for law enforcement and other first responders.

Rebekah Gorrell is the manager of the Indiana Recovery Network where she helped create and implement the largest recovery service network in the state of Indiana
