2+ Hours of Drama on this V-E Day

First a look at this day in History.

Then On a Note of Triumph starring Martin Gabel, originally broadcast May 8, 1945, 79 years ago.  An excellent V-E Day production making full use of the creative medium of radio. Called by Norman Corwin "The greatest single radio broadcast of the 20th century."  I agree.

Followed by Screen Directors Playhouse, originally broadcast May 8, 1949, 75 years ago, It’s a Wonderful Life starring Jimmy Stewart. Screen director Frank Capra appears as host.

Then X Minus One, originally broadcast May 8, 1955, 69 years ago, Mars is Heaven, based on the Ray Bradbury short story. The first Earthmen to arrive on Mars find some very familiar sights and even more familiar people.

Finally Lum and Abner, originally broadcast May 8, 1942, 82 years ago, Build an Old Folks Home. Mousey's latest brainstorm: an old folks home!
