Podcast 73:

Is our speech free? Often we hear of individuals making statements and then having to pay dearly for it afterwards. We can thank cancel culture for that.

Today I use the example of Drew Bree’s making a statement about standing for the American Flag. He caught some backlash behind it but I didn’t think what he said was wrong. I think he made a good statement and that should have been it. He had to make a statement about his statement later on apologizing and I think that’s ridiculous. Can he not have his own opinion? If his opinion doesn’t match up with to what everyone else wants why is it a problem?

I think cancel culture needs to come to an end. It is one thing to hold someone accountable. It’s a completely different thing to ruin someones lively hood over something that can be trivial.
