This is the last of a three part interview where we welcome a Millwall legend, Dennis Burnett

Bermondsey born and bred Dennis started his career as a youth team player at West Ham United, I know but he was one of many, making his first team debut for them in October 1965. Must have been interesting times leading up to the World Cup in 66.

Dennis played 66 games in all competitions for West Ham scoring three goals.

In 1967 he moved across the river, close to his birthplace of Bermondsey and signed for the Lions for £15,000. Bargain!

With us he made over 250 appearances, taking over the captaincy whenever Harry Cripps was out.
In October 1973, he left for Hull City for £75,000, good profit made there..

He also played for Hull City, St. Louis Stars in the US, Brighton & Hove Albion and Shamrock Rovers in Ireland before crossing the North Sea, where had four seasons playing and managing SK Haugar in Norway.

He also found and brought Paul Ifill to the Den.

As a Freemason, Dennis now focuses on supporting the development of young football players with his fellow lodge members.

Dennis played in a period of Millwall’s history considered to have been a ‘Golden Era’ when top flight football nearly and almost came to the Den.
