O Imposto Sobre a Propriedade de Veículos Automotores - IPVA é um tributo estadual que incide sobre a propriedade de veículos. Há previsão expressa Lei nº 7.543/1988 sobre as hipóteses em que o IPVA não é exigido, dentre elas, quando o veículo tiver sido objeto de apreensão pelas autoridades policiais. Dessa forma, caso o veículo tenha sido apreendido, o IPVA se torna inexigível no exercício fiscal seguinte.
