Montserrat Mejía Rangel murió el 20 de febrero de 2021 de un golpe en la cabeza a manos de su esposo, permaneció tres días en el hospital con muerte cerebral; causa de fallecimiento: traumatismo craneoencefálico. Tenía cinco meses de embarazo y una hija de 4 años.
