Your Story with Mike Wexler: Season 2: Episode 17 with Johnny Gargano
Welcome back to #YourStory with Mike Wexler, the podcast where stories are highlighted and told. Originated as The Sock Monkey Mike Show, Mike Wexler is a sports broadcaster/host who has been passionate about connecting with people around him. Ever since the age of eleven, Mike has been pursuing a career in sports broadcasting, being inspired by world famous Los Angeles Dodgers broadcaster Vin Scully.
In this episode of #YourStory, Mike speaks with his hero and friend in professional wrestler and new father, Johnny Gargano live at Jimmy’s World Order in East Los Angeles, California! Johnny Gargano, otherwise known as “Johnny Wrestling”, is a professional wrestler who started his career in 2005 in CAPW. The Cleveland native started out with independent wrestling appearances as well enhancement matches with WWE as Cedrick Von Haussen on SmackDown in 2005 & during dark matches in Impact Wrestling. Gargano would travel the world to various wrestling companies before ultimately signing with WWE, under the NXT brand, in 2015, alongside Tomasso Ciampa. During his career in WWE, he became a three time North American Champion, a tag team champion, and the WWE NXT Champion, becoming the first ever NXT Triple Crown Winner. Johnny’s passion for professional wrestling came from an early age and has showcased that passion and love inside and outside the ring. His connection with the fans is extraordinary as he shares the same passion for professional wrestling as they do.
In this episode of Your Story, Johnny chats with me about doing his first meet and greet in California and hearing the fans’ individual stories. Gargano also speaks on the possibility of making appearances at other professional wrestling promotions such as Game Changer Wrestling and All Elite Wrestling! Additionally, he responds to “All Heart” Blake Christian after his call out at GCW’s Paranoid event in Los Angeles on Saturday, April 9th from the Ukrainian Cultural Center.
