Sometimes, one of the hardest things to do in life is to take that agonizing step away. Or to take that emotionally painful step back. Especially if it involves loved ones. Making your choice to step away or step back creates voluntary space for breathing room, objectivity, and hopefully, for everyone involved a new perspective. But don’t always count on gaining a new perspective. At times, it simply boils down to the fact that taking a step back and standing by your decision, is perspective enough. And just so we are on the same page. I AM not speaking about taking a step away or a step back so you can watch someone fall on their arse or drown. Taking a step back or a step away is as much about you as it is the person or people you are stepping away from. It gives them permission to make choices in the best interest of self without you muddying the waters.
